Nikki Lillig Director of Course & Grounds
As we move into November and the golf season begins to wind down, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for this past season here at Country Club of the North It’s been a good year for golf, and we ’ ve truly appreciated your continued support, patience, and enthusiasm as we ’ ve worked to keep the course in good condition
With cooler temperatures and shorter days, our focus has shifted slightly from daily play conditions to preparing the course for winter dormancy. Over the past few weeks, our team has:
Completed fall aerification on greens, approaches, and fairways to relieve compaction and promote healthy root systems.
Applied our final fertility program to help turfgrass store carbohydrates and build strength for the winter months.
Raised mowing heights slightly across playing surfaces to provide extra leaf tissue for photosynthesis during reduced daylight.
Begun leaf cleanup operations – which will continue into December as trees finish dropping leaves.
Tree Management – Selective pruning and removals are underway to enhance sunlight exposure and airflow to key turf areas.
These steps are essential to ensure the course comes out of dormancy healthy and strong in the spring.
As the course transitions into its dormant season, please remember:
Frost Delays will become more frequent. We appreciate your patience – walking or driving on frost covered turf can cause lasting damage.
Winter play will remain available as weather permits, though some maintenance areas may be temporarily closed.
Thank you again for your continued support and for respecting the course throughout the season. Our team takes great pride in maintaining the conditions you enjoy, and we ’ re already planning for an even better 2026 golf season.
