WELCOME GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Things are really starting to green up as we begin to enter growing season. Our maintenance team will begin to shift out of our winter projects and back into the daily mowing and care needed to keep both golf courses in great shape. I would like to thank Kevin Butts for his leadership in leading the maintenance team.

We have welcomed many new members over the past year. We will be hosting a New Member Mixer on Thursday, June 1 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. We would love for everyone to join us and get to know some of your fellow Members.

The first Couples 9 and Dine of the year will happen on Friday, May 27th. Sign up as space will be limited.

Hope to see you at our Mothers Day Brunch. The plan is to have an extravagant spread by our very own Chef Matthew Marconi. This is a brunch you wont want to miss out on.

GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE Kevin Butts Through bad conditions to try and prepare the playing surfaces for the season. We started off the season with a deep tine aerification to greens. Due to weather we have not been able to finish topdressing greens and brushing but we still plan to top-dress and brush greens when conditions allow. We have been working diligently to accomplish some projects on the course before the season starts. We have completed edging and weeding the front 9 bunkers.

We will be continuing this project to the back nine and should be completed within the next couple of weeks. We have received bunker sand on the property and will be out re-vamping few of the bunkers that are contaminated with silt and repairing drainage.

Also in the coming weeks we will being doing our first of 2 deep tine aerifications to fairways as we have done in the past years. Last fall we were able to deep tine and verti-cut our fairways and have made great progress on thatch control. We also core aerified and verti-cut our tees to continuously reduce thatch.

We will be continuing our chemical treatments on thatch this season as well as continuing agronomic practices to all playing surfaces to keep pushing the needle forward at CCN and creating better playing conditions. We have started off the season strong this year and are steadily growing and training our staff to be able to groom our facilities to the highest level. We are excited about the 2022 season and are beyond ready for nice weather to prepare the course for our members and guest. We hope to see you all soon!

GOLF GOLF UPDATE Dave Miller

The Men’s Thursday Night League will be in its second week with a record number of teams this year. The league is comprised of 2 Man Teams battling it out in a Match Play format with the top teams going into a shootout at the end of 9 weeks of league play.

Welcome everyone to the beginning of a great golf season! The winter and early spring weather wasn’t kind but May is going to be beautiful. The golf staff has some great events planned for May and we are looking forward to putting on a great show.

Couples golf season begins on Friday, May 27th. Adding on to the great success from last year these fun filled non- competitive formats bring all members closer together. Good people, good fun and great food and drink after.

The Ladies Golf Association starts their season off with their Opening Day Mixer on Tuesday, May 3rd. The Men’s Golf Association begin their daily games on Wednesday, May 4th and The MGA Open on Saturday, May 14th. It is not too late to sign up for either of these fine Associations. Please contact the Golf Shop for more details.

PGA Jr League practice gets underway. Once again, having a great number of participants, we have two full teams this year.The juniors have a great schedule and will compete against other area clubs throughout the summer.

We are hosting the TaylorMade fitting Experience on May 14th. Sharpen your skills and get fit for the upcoming golf season. TaylorMade certified club fitters along with your CCN professional staff will guide you through the whole process including golf ball fitting. This is going to be a great event!

To end the month off strong we are hosting a 3 Kings and a Queen or 3 Queens and a King event. This fun format where we play a rotating best ball format accompanied with great food is a must play event!

We are looking forward to seeing you throughout the season and providing you a memorable member experience every time.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: THE MCCARTY FAMILY As we welcome Spring to CCN, we also want to welcome our newest members the McCarty Family.

James and Nicole, kids at home Dan 19, Cyana 17 and Alan 10, kids out of the house, Matt, Kimberly, Megan and Grant. They are spread out across the country from Washington state, San Diego, Las Vegas and Nashville.

Plenty of warm weather places to visit in the winter.

Nicole, is a schoolteacher and specializes in helping kids with Executive Dysfunction, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety disorders and Autism/ASD. James is the President of the US Division of a British Sports Lighting Company that is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio.

Why they chose CCN: “We visited some other clubs in the area and they were nice but none had the same “vibe” for us as CCN. We love the contemporary facilities and everyone we’ve met- staff and members alike- have made us feel at home!”

FOOD & BEVERAGE FEATURED RECIPE Matthew Marconi Ingredients 1 ½ C warm water (105 degrees) 1 teaspoon honey 1 teaspoon active dry yeast 2 tablespoons olive oil 3 ½ - 4 C flour Steps Pizza Dough 1 ½ C warm water (105 degrees) 1 teaspoon honey 1 teaspoon active dry yeast Whisk together and transfer to a container with at least 2 inches of space left from the top of the liquid and let rest in a warm place (preferably next to your oven) for 20 or so minutes to activate the yeast. Once the liquid has rested, transfer the warm water mixture to stand mixer with the hook attachment installed and add: 2 tablespoons olive oil Turn the stand mixer on with low speed to incorporate the olive oil. 3 ½ - 4 C flour, in 1 cup installments.

Slowly incorporate the flour, increasing the speed little by little as the flour becomes more incorporated into the water. Continue to add flour at low speed until the mixture starts to form as a dough and starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Turn to medium speed and continue to knead, the mixture will start to form a ball in the center around the hook and will start to pull away from the sides of the bowl completely. At this point, turn off the mixer and check the stickiness of the dough. You do not want the dough to be too sticky or too dry, if it is too sticky, simply add a touch more flour and knead for a little bit longer. If it is too dry, add a little bit more water and continue to knead. Once kneaded, transfer to a different container to rest the gluten and proof for 1 hour. With a gloved hand, portion the doug

GOLF & RETAIL TWO PRO TIPS & RETAIL UPDATE Alec Velasco Two Pro Tips 1.Improve your golf grip Hold your club from the side, not underneath First of all, when you go to hold a golf club, make sure you do it from the side, rather than underneath the golf club.

One way to get a good feel for how your hands should move towards the golf club is to go into your golf posture and then clap your hands together. If you get the golf grip right, you should be able to hold the club and support it by wrapping only your index finger round the handle. When you put the club down on the ground, you should then be able to see the top two knuckles on your lead hand, as well as the logo on your glove from where you’re standing.

2. Make sure the club face opens on the backswing In your backswing, tour club face should point AWAY from you. As you move and strike the ball, the club face should point towards the TARGET. Then as you rotate through the ball into your finish, the club face should point BEHIND you. The biggest issue we see with some golfers is trying to keep the club face pointing at the ball all the time. We want to swing back on an upward arc, followed by a downward arc on the way down which should be close to the arc you made on the way up. Then as you swing through, this should be on an upward arc around the body.

WELLNESS HOW MUCH SHOULD THE AVERAGE ADULT EXERCISE EVERY DAY? Answer From Edward R. Laskowski, M.D. For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines: Aerobic activity. Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of a week. To provide even greater health benefit and to assist with weight loss or maintaining weight loss, at least 300 minutes a week is recommended. But even small amounts of physical activity are helpful.

Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefit.

Strength training. Do strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least two times a week. Aim to do a single set of each exercise using a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions.

Moderate aerobic exercise includes activities such as brisk walking, biking, swimming and mowing the lawn.

Vigorous aerobic exercise includes activities such as running, heavy yard work and aerobic dancing. Strength training can include use of weight machines, your own body weight, heavy bags, resistance tubing or resistance paddles in the water, or activities such as rock climbing. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight, maintain weight loss or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more. Reducing sitting time is important, too. The more hours you sit each day, the higher your risk of metabolic problems. Sitting too much can negatively impact your health and longevity, even if you get the recommended amount of daily physical activity. And some research has found that people who've lost weight may be more likely to keep off the lost weight by sitting less during the day.
