Dr. May Ikeora turned forty, and she celebrated with a beautiful party for her friends, family, and colleagues. The birthday party which held at Landmark event centre was themed “Ada Igbo” and the dress code was traditional or black tie. The hall was tastefully decorated to reflect the splendour of Igbo tradition. When you walked into the hall, the ushers directed you to your table, which already had drinks waiting for you.
Looking around, the beauty of the culture that Dr. May envisioned could be seen in the various expressions of igbo dressing. Friends, family, and colleagues spoke warmly about her during the birthday wishing portion of the event; you could see the love and intentions in the words and conclude that the celebrant is a phenomenal being. Scanning the hall, it was clear that the Anambra beauty, who was once a beauty queen and the founder of the beauty brand L'avyanna skin naturals, has a high-end circle, as actors, musicians, ministers, big brother housemates, top business and financial institute personnel, and other celebrities all attended her party.
The party went on into the night, with waiters making sure the guests never ran out of food or drinks. Her parents were clearly proud of her, as evidenced by the mother's joyful dancing with Dr May, as well as her sharing souvenirs with guests and ensuring that everyone had a good time.
The celebrant and her guests had a lot more fun at the after-party, where the DJ played songs from different eras and the guests engaged in more dancing and finger food. It was the perfect way to cap off a Saturday night.
The part about heartbreak that gnaws at your soul and before you know it, you're distracted and lost in thought, you snap back to the present, and then you find yourself back in your thoughts. You've looked up ways to escape your mind on Google and even asked your single friends, and of course you get answers, just not the ones you're looking for. Your motivation and energy are low, you barely want to eat, and you really want everyone to leave you alone to mourn the love you had and the heartbreak you just experienced.
You are tempted to listen to sad love songs, and you may even succumb to it. You're alternating between scolding yourself for crying and crying because you're still dazed.
On Monday, you go to work, calm on the outside but toiling on the inside. You decide to go out for drinks with your friends, despite the fact that it is far too early in the week for a late night, but anything to take your mind off your inner thoughts.
Your heart has been broken, and while you have no control over how or when it was broken, you can actively seek ways to mend it. So, instead of getting over your heartbreak, let us walk you
BY DANIELLE ANENEthrough the stages of learning to live with it. Heartbreak is painful; there is no need to hide it. Feel your highs and lows. When your heart hurts, you must cry it out or your heart will become ill; you must not pretend to be okay when you are not, as this will only exacerbate the pain and delay your healing process. So, if you must vent, do so to the right people, at the right time and in the right place. You do not want to be that person who colleagues avoid because of their mopey demeanor.
As much as you want to relive the wonderful times you and your partner had together, you must accept that it is over, so you must mourn the relationship. Different people have found different ways to do this, such as by working more, finding a new hobby, going out to meet new people (not for the purpose of dating), traveling, exercising, or cutting your hair. Whatever option you choose, remember to keep it at a healthy level, or you will break down physically or mentally when you should be healing.
This is where you turn to your loved ones for comfort; they will help you heal faster by providing emotional support and good times to fill in the gaps when you feel down or vulnerable.
While you want to lean on them, be careful to filter out the flood of advice that will come your way; While they all mean well, you should not let your mind become clogged with so many thoughts. It will be most beneficial if, while sorting through this advice, you are willing and ready to embrace the assistance or comfort they will provide.
After a breakup, there is the time slot that was usually spent with your ex-partner, now that you’re alone and you feel like you are missing something, this is the time to fill that empty slot with new habits. Some people pick up fitness and build a routine around it.
You may want to block your ex on social media just as much as you have blocked them in person; you do not want to be reminded of the "good days," which will make you even sadder. All of these are ways to keep yourself occupied while you wait for the pain to wane. Remember that the only true cure for heartbreak is time; you will heal, you will be whole again, you will love again, and you will learn from this heartbreak.

Tell us briefly about your background. How did you imagine with your experience you could pull off a “Landmark” project.
My name is Paul Onwuanibe, I was born in the UK to diplomat Nigerian parents. My real-life journey began when I was sent off to boarding school in Lagos at age 10. While I gained my closest friends there, I also developed a strong passion for drawing, particularly drawing buildings and further honed my skills in UNN while studying architecture. I went back to Europe for further professional studies and gained valid life and business lessons working with Mark Dixon at Regus. These experiences have all led to the results that you see today. Seasoned Entrepreneurs are not born, they’re made.
LANDMARK IS IN AFRICA, FOR AFRICA, BY AFRICANS AND THAT IS NOT BY CHANCE. THE GOAL IS TO CREATE AN ECOSYSTEM WITH BEST-INCLASS EXPERIENCES THAT CAN MATCH UP ON A GLOBAL SCALE AND TO REPLICATE THAT MODEL IN OTHER AFRICAN CITIES, STARTING FROM LAGOS- NIGERIA.
Let’s talk about how you started this huge project. What inspired it?
I was young, designing serviced offices in Europe, I wanted to make a huge mark, solve a problem and create something revolutionary that mattered. That’s when I decided that the serviced office business would have an important impact in Africa. On a visit however, I noticed that Nigeria had its own set of issues like every other country, such as lack of infrastructure, insecurity, among other things. You can say the greatest threat to our society is thinking someone else will save it. So I embraced the challenge and took a helicopter trip across Lagos and discovered this site where Landmark now provides a premium one-stop destination for all who require such a haven in the midst of the city’s hustle & bustle.
It’s a community of its own; work, play, live. Has it lived up to your expectations?
Yes, our mixed-use development model works. It meets not just mine, but the expectations of all the people who visit our ecosystem. Our goal has always been to get people into the ecosystem, to spend as much time having a great time here as they want, and leave with the desire to tell a friend about their experience. That is how it’s become the fastest growing business leisure lifestyle destination in Africa. And
Conceiving an idea is only the first and easiest step of any business. Most successful businessmen and women will tell you that real work starts when you have to implement those ideas to become a reality. This is where most people give up, but not our cover personality for this issue.
Paul Onwuanibe, CEO of Landmark who was Born in the UK to diplomat parents conceived his idea and did not back down from that moment. What’s interesting about his interview is that he agrees that Nigeria is not the only country with many problems, yet all of those did not deter him at the beginning stages, and to date, he is going strong. Armed with his education, experience and some investors, he forged ahead with his dream of creating a live, work, play community that wasn’t just for Nigerians but the world as a whole; The Landmark Village.
Onwuanibe is also known for his work in the real estate sector, juggling over five hundred clients in five countries, and what’s fascinating is he is not afraid to give credit to his team. This much he did in this interview, ”I have a team of incredible people around me that deserve the same if not more praise than I receive. They’re the people that keep the lights on at the end of each day...”
But it’s not only formal work for Paul Onwuanibe. The company also plays their part in community development by fixing roads, mentorship programs, etc. Delve into this awe-inspiring interview, or what you might end up calling the ultimate guide to run a successful tourism and real estate business anywhere in the world.
still growing with many legacy projects in the pipeline.
Nigerians don’t necessarily take time to save for a holiday. This could be positive or negative in terms of spontaneity. Do you find people booking staycations more than vacations?
The pandemic presented an opportunity where people had started to look at staycations more which is essentially domestic tourism. Furthermore, as lockdown conditions have eased up, we are seeing a return to pre-covid desires to have vacation experiences. Landmark is a platform where Nigerians and international travellers can and have had memorable experiences and we aim to keep delivering innovative experiences over time. For many who come through our ecosystem on holidays; the service, the ambience, the people, the experiences make them feel like spending just one more day, one more hour, or just one more minute... That is real spontaneity, and for us, it is positive.
How do you hope to promote Nigeria as a tourist attraction with Landmark? Nigerians would rather go out of the country on holidays…
Most people travel for the purpose of having new experiences. At Landmark we are constantly pushing boundaries of the norm, providing new and innovative experiences for all. You cannot visit Landmark today and meet it exactly the same after one year. We are constantly growing, constantly developing.
Excellence is a continuous journey, and we are going through every bit of it, with and for our citizens.
Do you spend more time vacationing here than abroad?
Landmark is in Africa, For Africa, by Africans and that is not by chance. The goal is to create an ecosystem with best-in-class experiences that can match up on a global scale and to replicate that model in other African cities, starting from Lagos- Nigeria. Someday we want to hear people say, “Home or abroad, Landmark is the best”.
Investing in this must have cost a fortune. How were you able to secure the capital?
Real estate business is not cheap and its important to get a team of people who believe in the vision to make it happen. Real estate is
a long term gain which means the investors that come together have to have the stomach to put huge sums down for a project that might take 3, 5, even 10 years to deliver. Luckily we have been able to find those people and we have proved our success through our development track record which speaks for itself.
Managing over 500 clients across 5 continents is no mean feat. How do you juggle this and still stay ‘productive’?
I Believe passion is the most important ingredient for success. The dream is now much larger than any one person. Daily I do my part but I have a team of incredible people around me that deserve the same if not more praise than I receive. They’re the people that keep the lights on at the end of each day. Teamwork makes the Dreamwork.
You’ve made owning properties and managing them really cool, how did you conceive this big idea?
Great ideas are common. What’s uncommon are the people who will work hard enough to bring them to be. Luckily I have those people. They understand that all the easy things have been done, and put in the effort to do small things in a great way consistently. All this wasn’t built in a day
What CSR activities does Landmark engage in Youth mentorships programs, including scholarships and internships, Medical support during covid and with routine health checks within our ecosystem, Community Road repairs, School excursions/field trips, reduction in carbon footprint to mention a few What tips can you share for people looking up to you… looking up to your level of success?
1. Think solvability, scalability and sustainability; The best businesses solve a problem for the masses.
2. Underestimate intelligence, overestimate experience; The best source of knowledge is experience
3. Invest in relationships; that’s how you build unquantifiable wealth
4. Change is inevitable, so constantly evolve your business; Complacency is the killer of dreams.
5. Maximally utilize opportunities; The opportunity of a lifetime can only be realized within the lifetime of that opportunity.
Why ‘WakaWaka Dr’? How did you come about the tag? What are you and this personality of yours about?
That’s probably the most common question I get. If I got a penny for every time I was asked, I’d be saying “Elon Musk who?” by now. hahaha Believe it or not, the name was coined beachside, over a bowl of pepper soup and cocktails. After years of travelling, a good friend of mine (another influencer) expressed his confusion about why I had never thought to share my journey with people on social media. There and then, we thought of a name that would resonate with everyone.
Wakawaka Doctor is an informal lingo that describes a medical doctor (I practice medicine) who loves to travel and move around—someone who never sits still. I love to have fun and be jolly, and when I travel, the spark within me is ignited. I am adventurous and a social animal, so it’s a match made in heaven.
I have used the name for the last two and a half years; in fact, people often ask what my real name is but I’d rather people get attached to the doctor who helps them move abroad or shows them the beauty that exists in other places.
How have you been able to combine being a medical dr with your ‘almost’ nomadic (if I may call it that) lifestyle?
Hmmm, it is tough, very tough. I think my love for both is what lessens the blow. Time, finance, and everything else involved. My speciality affords me the work-life balance I crave, so I can do both. I cannot overestimate the passion I have for either or how much dedication I put into anything I lay my hands on. These are probably some of the best qualities that allow me to do both effectively.
You are *notorious* for helping young Nigerians move abroad. Why? What’s the interest?
Ever seen the movie 300? It’s an epic historical movie that describes the 300 Spartans who showed so much bravery in a time of war. The best part of the movie is the description of their fighting style which is called the “phalanx”
You see, the formation is only as effective as
the person standing next to you in battle. You need to fight for each other.
As a medical doctor who was overworked and underpaid in my home country, I sought more and better abroad and got it—in terms of financial compensation, exposure, and career development. But all these are of no good if I can not help others achieve the same because this is the only way we can improve ourselves and work together towards improving our home country.
So like the phalanx, I need to help more people move so we can grow together, fight together, and in the end possibly return to improve our country.
Funny enough, my journey on social media started by showing people tourist attraction sites until it metamorphosed into what we have now. I am still growing.
You have been to over 67 countries… how has this impacted your life? In what ways? Travel is the best form of education ever. My perspective and mindset about a lot of things have changed. You know, people often think “their father’s garden is the biggest in the world until they see someone else's."
You learn new languages, see and experience different cultures, and understand different norms and values. You discover opportunities that you never knew existed. When you travel, there is an emotional investment—the courage and desire to explore and see the world. It changes you completely. Travel broadens your horizons and tests your relationships. You get to understand yourself better, too.
It’s a very long list, honestly. It’s the best experience anyone can have—travel and see the world.
Amongst the many Nigerian youths you’ve been able to help relocate, have there been any bad experiences after relocating? Have you had any of these bad ones yourself? Everything in life has merits and demerits. Personally, since moving abroad, I have no regrets. Zero! Zilch. I am a very forwardthinking person, so no matter the setback, we move.
From the people I have helped move abroad, there might be a couple, maybe one or two, but I haven’t heard from or gotten feedback
from any of them. That said, it’s life, things like this happen.
In all your travels, which country will you forever recommend and why? This is a very difficult question because different places have different vibes. Amalfi coast, Positano, Venice, Cape Town, Seychelles, Diani (Kenya), Tbilisi, Victoria Falls, Madagascar, Marrakech, Bora-Bora, Santorini and Oia, Cappadocia, Crystalline Turquoise Lake ( China) The list is endless, but these are the ones I will recommend.
Share 5 quick tips for people who wish to travel more!
1. Plan and save for your trips; then, prioritize them. Thank me later
2. Redefine the word "travel" in your head. You don’t have to go far to travel; it can be somewhere close that you have never been. A place with a different culture
3. Be flexible with dates and set destinations
4. You don’t have to travel with people. You can go solo
5. Learn to use travel tricks when booking flight tickets and accommodations to get them cheaper.

Additionally, group activities such as meditation, exercise, and spending time in nature can also help to improve their mental health.

Skincare is one of the most important aspects of a man's grooming routine. Men, too, deserve healthy skin because it serves as the foundation for a smooth shave, healthy facial hair, and body care. To achieve healthy skin, the classic man should follow this routine.
Let's get into the details!

Like clothing, there is a right makeup look for every occasion. While some women enjoy experimenting with different looks, we want to believe that the fun is in applying makeup rather than thinking about what look to wear for a specific occasion. As we all know, makeup is a woman's way of shapeshifting, as society says, but it is also a beauty routine - it’s that simple. In today's section, we'll give you some makeup tips for different looks for different occasions.
Choosing the right makeup for a casual date, whether for the first time or with babe, can be a timeconsuming task, especially when you have to think about what to wear as well. You must first decide on your desired appearance; do you want to be perceived as a sexy or seductive lady , cute or a happy-go-lucky lady?
Pay more attention to red lips, smokey eyes, and dewy skin for a sexy or seductive look. To be perceived as a cute, happy lady, you should focus on having a natural look or the no makeupmakeup look. This look can be achieved by using a light skin-like foundation and a natural shadow
As the saying goes “Girls just want to have fun”. Whether young or elderly, night out with the girlies means it is time to unwind and live freely. Whether it is clubbing, dining or just a fun activity with the girls, you are free to add a little extra dazzle with your look, red lipstick, highlighter, shimmery shadows and popping lashes, you are free to go off, after all it’s just you and your best girls having a good time.
So you're planning a house party or maybe you're expecting a few friends over for a small get-together, and while you don't want to go all out with your make-up, you also want to make an attempt at your face, but not the basic powder pat to the cheeks. Here, go for an everyday look with a bit of contour to the cheek bones and a nude lipstick for the finishing touch. This gives you a wellmade-up face that isn't overly glammed up for the occasion.
We know it's not a party; it's the office, where you'll most likely be spending long hours, so make sure you're wearing moisturiser, long-wear skin-like foundation, and lipstick in colours ranging from nude to red or even dark brown.
Heavy makeup is not required here; you will need your skin to breathe for the long travel hour, so bring your moisturiser, skin wear foundation, light powder, and lip-gloss; for a more glam look, add on a coloured lipstick.
The best makeup for a beach day is a light no-makeup look. After applying sunscreen because you will most likely be in the sun, apply a light powder and a light lipstick, allowing your face to soak in the breeze from the water and reducing the number of times you will dab your face. However, use a waterproof eye liner and mascara.
TIP
Remember that applying lipstick should be your final makeup application.
In this issue of scrumptious, we will be talking about Kung Pao Chicken; imagine this scenario: you go to this beautiful Chinese restaurant and, while you may have played it safe by ordering what you are very familiar with, perhaps special fried rice and a chicken vegetable sauce, at least you know what you are eating. You take a look at your friend's plate and notice that she ordered a strange-looking chicken sauce and a plate of Jasmine rice; your friend has always been the adventurous type when it comes to food, but you? You must be introduced to the meal in stages, so it is customary to taste something from her plate during the conversation. You dip your fork into her plate as usual to take a piece of the chicken chunk, but this time the chicken taste comes alive in your mouth, bursting with flavours, and you swear for a split second that you have finally found your new favourite meal!
But here's the problem: you've already ordered your meal and it would be unfair to take more pieces from your friend's plate; buying a second round is out of the question because the restaurant is extremely expensive; so you return to your meal but not before learning the name of the sauce, Kung Pao Chicken sauce…
Here's a recipe for kung pao chicken sauce that will fool anyone into thinking it came from a Chinese restaurant. The majority of the ingredients can be found at any village market or supermarket, and it is very simple to prepare.
CHICKEN INGREDIENTS:
• boneless/skinless chicken breast
• 1 tablespoon shaoxing wine or dry sherry
• 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
• 2 teaspoons baking soda

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Combine all ingredients for the chicken in a shallow bowl; cover and marinate for 10 minutes.
2. Whisk sauce ingredients together until sugar dissolves; set aside.
3. Heat a large pan over high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, allow to heat up, then add marinated chicken. Fry chicken for 3-4 minutes while occasionally stirring, until edges are browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. Add remaining cooking oil into the same pan. Stir in garlic, ginger, chili diced peppers and Sichuan peppercorns and stir fry for 1 minute.
5. Give the prepared sauce ingredients a mix, then pour it into the pan and bring it to a boil while stirring.
6. Once it begins to thicken slightly, add chicken back into the pan/ wok and mix all of the ingredients through the sauce until the chicken is evenly coated and sauce has thickened, (about 2 minutes).
7. Stir in green onions, peanuts and sesame oil. Toss well and continue to cook for a further 2 minutes to infuse all of the flavours together.
