25 – 27 OCTOBER 2017 Regional Company Tour

FOREWORD The current business landscape is a tough course to manoeuvre, with new breakthroughs in business mind sets and technology that play an integral role in pushing innovations at breakneck speeds.

Today, all sights are on Vietnam, recognised as one of the countries with the most potential in the Asian region. The bow of anticipation is drawn, the arrow is aimed. And we have to be prepared for the rapid change the transformation is about to bring. A business is expected to be agile, current and ready for the new wave of globalisation.

Ms. Tieu Yen Trinh

CEO, Talentnet Corporation

To remain ahead of the competition, the call for a paradigm shift for businesses to start looking at key elements for sustainable business development from within has never been stronger, or crucial. Companies are beginning to realise that success doesn't only come from being on the cutting edge of innovation, but rather a cultural transformation from within. Starting with the "why" and "who" becomes pertinent questions that one begins to ask.

Talentnet's core belief is to make a dierence in the lives of every organisation and employee. We champion the implementation of end-to-end components that provide comprehensive touch points that help monitor the eectiveness of an organisation's people agenda in driving its business strategy. Human capital management has never been this critical and HR plays a huge part in the ability to attract and retain the right talent for growth.

Talentnet is proud to collaborate with SHRI to bring this event to fruition, allowing Vietnamese and Singaporean business leaders and HR practitioners to network, engage and exchange ideas on people development and best business practices, especially in a borderless landscape we live in today.

TA L E N T N E T B U S I N E S S I N N OVAT I O N SHOWCASE

Amid intensifying global competition and geopolitical uncertainty, we face challenges such as digital disruption, economic restructuring, shifting demographics and skills mismatch. The key attribute of the future will be adaptability. As we urge our workforce to upskill and reskill, HR professionals too must grow and effectively partner organisations in the transformation journey.

Mr. Koh Tat Liang

Executive Director, Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI)

Technology is clearly the key driver of the future of work. It is eliminating many jobs-of-today, and creating new business models and jobs-of-tomorrow - from advance manufacturing to digital services and artificial intelligence. The greatest impact of the digital revolution is expected to be for white-collar roles. As businesses restructure, HR needs to especially enable this group of workers to upskill, reskill and cross-skill, to be resilient and future-ready.

Needless to say, it is increasingly important for HR to pave the way for new skills in our people, new capabilities in our enterprises, new jobs in our labour market and new innovations in our economy. To navigate a dynamically changing global economic landscape, uniquely human characteristics such as collaboration are needed. SHRI looks forward to working hand-in-hand with partners such as Talentnet to nurture a vibrant HR eco-system in Vietnam, Singapore and the region at large.

SINGAPORE HR LANDSCAPE Singapore is an island of 580 square kilometres with no natural resources. From its independence in 1965, Singapore’s success is strongly attributed to its ideal leadership planning & political succession, quality of people and Singapore’s Tripartite Model. Her economic development over the years has evolved from being “Labour Intensive” to“Knowledge Intensive”.

While Singapore’s per capita income has shot from $500 in 1965 to $55,000 today and named “Easiest place to do business in the world”, she faced technological challenges which has disrupted the way of work, changing aspirations of the workforce and slowing local workforce growth due to changing demographics. HR is often perceived as part of administrative work as opposed to contributing to business success. In today’s uncertain environment, pressure for organisations of any size to perform has never been higher, and HR has a critical role to play in actively innovating and stepping outside their traditional role, while seeking opportunities to deliver performance that supports the business operation.
