Dear DMS Members, Insurance is a weird thing. To be fair it’s more the risk assessment. Humans are notoriously poor at assessing the risk of failure or harm and thus sometimes purchase insurance and sometimes not.

Bicycle helmets or seat belts are a perfect example. Some assess the risk as minimal whilst others are far more cautious. Some take into account the fact that track-records prove that they are excess to requirement whilst others perceive risk due to the power of consensus.

Who is right?

Both are right since any assessment is about perceived risk but, surely using, even if proven otherwise, is the best approach to cover the unexpected, or not factored, upset? That is as long as the cost is not a limiting factor that is.

In a former job it amazed me how, just because lightning had never struck, the feeling was that it never would and so the plant was safe and would not suffer a shutdown due to a strike. The Middle East in particular would use this logic even though we experience lightning strikes every year and the insurance (a lightning/ surge protection device) would only cost a few hundred dollars or so and save a shutdown that could save hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost production.

A lightning strike could cause a shutdown system to shutdown when there was no danger to the actual process and yet it has never been perceived as a real requirement. So why then is cyber-security, which costs so much more to install, is considered a real necessity?

The answer, I believe, is in the fact that the risk to shutdown due to a lightning strike can be easily defined. We know what it is, how it will affect the process and how to fix the problem. Cyber-security on the other hand is an unknown. We don’t always know who the attacker is, where the attack will come from or how it will affect the systems. On top of all that we have no idea how much it will cost to put right.

Lightning damage is easy to understand while cyber-security requires a huge amount of understanding with instrumentation and automation engineers having to work with IT engineers to create an understanding of the OT environment.

Cyber-security for OT has been around since the control system environment moved over to ethernet switching technologies effectively bringing the internet to the control level. In the early days air-gaps were considered enough. Then DMZ, defence in depth and zones and conduits. Now we have data diodes but, until those on the plant floor develop enough understanding about the why nots and wherefores, we will always be in danger since defences, no matter how strong and deep, will always be breached.

We need understanding. We need learning. We need collaboration between governments and standards organisations, we need direction.

ADNOC Onshore - Buhasa Integrated Facilities Project In 1965, Adnoc operated one of its oldest oilfields, the Bu Hasa field, located 200km south of Abu Dhabi. Adnoc Onshore is planning to develop its Bu Hasa Oilfield integrated facilities and processing units. This project aims to raise its crude output capacity from the field by 18% from 550,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 650,000 bpd.

The Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study is completed by Jacobs Engineering Group (formerly known as CH2M Hill). The geotechnical investigation, topographical and underground detection survey has been awarded to Arab Center for Engineering Studies (ACES-Dubai).

Tecnicas Reunidas, an engineering company based in Spain, has been awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract worth $1.5 billion in November 2018. Scope of work includes renovation and expansion of facilities, new pipeline networks, production hubs and conversion of three trains in the central de-gassing station, streamlining of water handling, implementation of a second gas lift recovery

phase and improvement of overall production efficiency and reduction of inactive wells. All will be executed within 39 months.

Target Engineering, a subsidiary of Arabtec, has been awarded $227 million for the mechanical and electrical construction works contract. The scope of work includes the general construction and expansion of the existing Bu Hasa oil pad hubs, the gas lift’s Phase 2, and the produced water re-injection’s first and second phases.

The contract began in June 2019 and will continue for 28 months.

Adnoc Onshore is on track to meet the production capacity target of 3.5 million bpd to 4 million bpd by the end of 2020.

ADNOC - Fujairah Mandous Field The Mandous Field development is in the mountains of Fujairah with the integration of MOT Fujairah Facilities.

The aim of the storage caverns is to store 3 different types of crude oil. The crude oil will be coming from Murban, Das and Upper Zakum. The crude oil from Murban will be supplied via the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline (ADCOP) and oil from Das and Upper Zakum will be transported from its offshore facilities. Each of the bunkers will be excavated below ground level. This project will be the world’s largest storage oil bunker that will store approximately a total of 40 million barrels of oil. Each storage will hold a capacity of 14 million barrels of oil.

In November 2017, the South Korean EPC company, SK Engineering was awarded the main contract valued at $ 1.21 billion. China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering (CPPE) was appointed as the sub-contractor by SK Engineering to carry out the general construction works for the underground storage. The National Emirates was also appointed as a drilling contractor. Al Hasoun Arabian Group as the MEP contractor, Kindle Steel Construction Contracting worked on the steel structure fabrication.

Currently, construction is taking place as per schedule, with drilling works happening on parallel. The overall construction of the project is expected to be completed by 2022. The scope of work entails the construction of water tunnels in a D-shape (7m and 5m), boreholes, access tunnels, compressor units, temperature control machinery, safety systems, pipeline works to transport the crude oil, surface facilities, and access roads.

The EPC contract will add 50% of its value to the UAE’s economic growth which is part of ADNOC’s in-country value (ICV) programme. ADNOC aims to improve trade & commercial opportunities by responding to market needs.

Interview with Yahya Darwish Vice President, HIMA Middle East

Q. Mr. Darwish, you recently joined HIMA to lead the Middle East operations. Can you tell us what influenced your decision to join HIMA?

There are numerous factors that make HIMA unique, such as the fact that since being founded in 1908, we are still today a family-owned company with our present owner Mr. Steffen Phillip being the fourth generation of the family to be actively involved daily in steering the technological vision of the company. Or another differentiator is the fact that we are so dedicated to safety that we were the very first company globally to implement a functional safety management program throughout our organisation and currently have more TUV certified functional safety engineers than any other company – safety is in our DNA.

Q. As an Industrial automation expert in your opinion what should be the top priorities for the end-users in the digital age?

Industry is moving faster towards Industry 4.0 with the help of massive digital transformation. It is giving lots of opportunities to grow in terms of automation but it is also arising lots of additional risks. In a time where office networks and industrial automation are growing, hackers can exploit any weaknesses in security, potentially putting plants at risk of serious damage. Hackers can remotely manipulate, control, and even destroy plants.

This is a significant challenge as the plants were previously thought to be out of reach of hackers.

Industrial plants are significantly safer when they bring together functional safety and cybersecurity. What that means that at one hand employees and the environment need to be protected from the dangers that are present in the plant. While on the other hand, IT security is required to secure plants against external attacks and manipulation. This includes industrial espionage as well as interference with production processes. Plant operators have to be aware of these risks and actively address them.

Q. Nowadays due to increased safety and security risks, end-users and operators are asking for segregated architecture or solutions. What are your thoughts on segregated solutions?

Yes definitely. This is not a new concept, we all know the old saying ‘Don’t put all your eggs in one basket’.

Both the IEC 61511 for safety and IEC 62443 for security require that systems are built with multiple layers of protection and have to be segregated in different layers. Many automation companies promote a ‘onestop-shopping’ concept for a customer’s automation requirements; however, our customers consider safety and security to be too important to be thrown in with everything else and prefer to have a company such as HIMA who specialise in safety and security take care of their requirements in different layers. In most cases, HIMA is considered their safety partner, where they are

free to choose the control system or instrumentation that best suits their requirements but when it comes to safety and security, they prefer to select HIMA for their complete lifecycle requirements.

Standardizing Practices for Industrial Systems Patch Management

The complexity and criticality of this environment present specific challenges for asset owners. They need practical guidance that acknowledges and addresses these challenges. Such guidance is available from several sources, including the ISATR62443-2-3 technical report released in 2015. But while useful, guidance alone may not be sufficient. The guidance can take many forms, requiring interpretation and assessment to determine how to best apply it to a given situation. This may not be possible without first consulting security experts.

What were previously recommendations will become requirements stated in a more suitable form for use in product assessments, requests for proposal, and procurement specifications. These requirements are also stated in terms of the accountability and responsibilities of each of the principal roles that form part of the foundation of the 62443 series. Finally, the patch life cycle and state model and characterization schema can be used in formal conformance and compliance specifications.

Copies of the draft standard are available for review from the ISA committee. The committee members will consider all comments received as they finalize the standard.

The State of Patch Management for Industrial Systems Virtually all current industrial control systems are hosted on commercial off the shelf (COTS) operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows). While this has increased the utility and capability of these systems it has also increased their exposure to the same cybersecurity risks as business and consumer systems.

Several mitigating measures are available to reduce this risk, including system segmentation and configuration for specific security levels. However, all these measures depend on a comprehensive management of

Control Systems Context Industrial systems typically include a variety of hardware and software components, each with its own set of vulnerabilities and subject to different threats. In a large facility such as a refinery or integrated chemical complex there are often many separate systems that may or may not be integrated or managed by a single support group. The effort required to coordinate updates and patches to such systems can be significant. These characteristics and the associated challenges are similar to those of large data centers.

However, several characteristics of industrial systems set them apart from a management of change perspective.

The most fundamental of these is the nature of potential consequence of attack, compromise, or failure that could include impact on process or personal safety or equipment integrity.

Available Guidance Fortunately, guidance on what is required for effective industrial systems’ patch management is available from several sources, including national laboratories (e.g., NIST), government agencies, and sector- and industry-specific groups. Some of this information was developed originally for use with general-purpose information systems and adapted for use in the ICS environment while other references were developed specifically for the industrial environment. Regardless of design and consistent execution of the necessary processes and procedures involve significant challenges due to the nature of the environment.

INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS CYBERSECURITY Challenges Remain The amount and variety of guidance information presents a challenge, leading to confusion as to which source provides the “best� starting point. Moreover, some content may not be entirely suitable for use with industrial systems, and the terminology and concepts used may not be familiar to a typical operations or plant engineer. The result is that operations staff may select and use practices that are ineffective or labor intensive.

More Than Guidance Required While guidance is certainly valuable, the reality is that it is often not sufficient or effective. Guidance documents commonly only provide recommendations, leaving the reader to decide how to turn these into an effective response. This may not be possible without consulting security experts. Also, guidance documents are usually assumed to be directed primarily to asset owners. Suppliers and system integrators may not be aware of them or feel that they need to follow the direction provided.

It is common for those filling these roles to respond more to standards as they are described in terms of normative requirements, such as those often cited in procurement specifications.

Guidance comes from many sources and in many forms. This presents a challenge when determining the best starting point for a program response.

Terminology and concepts may not be consistent, and recommendations may conflict.

ISA/IEC 62443 In creating the ISA/IEC 62443 standards the authors attempted to address some of these challenges. The technical report ISA-TR62443-2-3 (Patch Management in the IACS Environment) provides informative guidance with respect to patch management in an ICS environment. It was approved by committees in both ISA and IEC and published in 2015. Copies may be purchased from either ISA or IEC. Ultimately, patching automation systems is a risk management decision, thus tying what may be seen as a tedious but necessary activity into a much broader context. This serves to stress the point that unpatched or otherwise out-of- date control systems can present risks that are just as serious as more traditional process- or equipment-related risks. Final accountability for mitigating these risks lies with the asset owner. The report also describes a formal patch life cycle model, consisting of several states, ranging from available to installed. The asset owner, systems integrator, and system supplier share primary responsibility for each of these states. Clarity on the definition of these states, as well as the activities required for transitioning from one 44 Automation

The 62443-2-3 technical report was issued in 2015. It provides recommendations for patch management within the broader context of risk management, a patch life cycle, and a format for defining and exchanging patch-related information. to another, form the foundation for the patch management program.

The state model is supplemented by more detailed guidance for the asset owner on the major activities associated with patching in the areas of information sharing, planning and implementation, procedures and policies, and operations. These activity groups are shown in the form of a simple workflow.

The final major element of the 62442-2-3 technical report is a description of a format for defining and exchanging patch-related information. This is required to address the common situation where an industrial control system may be composed of products and technology from several suppliers. Patch characterization information is described in the form of an XML schema and implemented as a combination of a schema definition and vendor patch compatibility (VPC) file.

Although this new standard has not yet been approved, draft copies are available for review from the ISA committee. Requests can be directed to the committee chairs. All comments received will be considered by the committee as they finalize the standard.

INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS CYBERSECURITY

How to securely bridge the gap between ICS/ SCADA OT and Corporate IT? Author : Gilles Loridon, CEO, GSN The business case for connecting OT and IT Critical Infrastructure companies and organizations have usually two separate and fundamentally different networks: on one hand their regular corporate IT enabling all their support functions such as payroll, HR, procurement, etc., and on the other hand the network hosting their production processes such as SCADA, DCS or in general Industrial Control Systems Operation Technology, ICS OT. Even if today these two types of networks rely on the same COTS technologies such as TCP/IP and MS Windows servers, they are still very different in nature. Corporate IT cybersecurity focuses on the CIA trio: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability.

ICS cybersecurity must protect first and foremost the availability and the integrity of the networks and systems controlling and, more importantly, insuring the safety of the industrial process they control. Whereas corporate employees can comfortably perform their function without the corporate network for few minutes (they can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while waiting), the Industrial Control System must shutdown the plant if the OT network is unavailable even for a few seconds. The loss of production and the time to restart the process would easily cost few millions USD to hundred million USD for large plants. Moreover, the Confidentiality of data on the ICS OT network is not a major concern because most of the data are meaningless for everyone except the Control Systems of the plant.

Nevertheless, Corporate IT users, when they finished their favorite hot beverage, may require production information to perform trend analysis, to do the billing or other production related applications. Therefore, the challenge is to provide Corporate IT users with data from ICS OT while preserving the Availability and the Integrity of the ICS OT. The pros and cons of the classical cyber security solutions The first and the usual solution to protect the ICS OT is the Air Gap, aka Sneaker Net for the people who remember floppy disks. Basically, there is no connection whatsoever between Corporate IT and ICS OT. The data required by corporate users are copied on USB memories or DVD-ROM and manually transported to the Corporate IT network to be uploaded. This is not a real-time data exchange, it requires a lot of manpower performing not the most interesting job. The perception, 46 Automation

that Air Gap is the ultimate cyber security, is totally wrong. In general, the USB memories used to transfer the data are not discarded after the transfer and are used over and over to do the transfer. If the corporate network has malware, it can easily infect the USD memory which in turn will infect the OT network once reconnected to it. We have seen customer’s OT networks which have more virus than on Internet.

Moreover malware on Air Gap OT networks are harder to clean because of the lack of patching and the difficulty of updating the anti-virus software.

The second solution is to use firewalls at the edge of the OT network so that all connections between OT and IT go through a Firewall. Often there is a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between OT and IT protected by firewalls to act as a buffer between the two networks. All connections from IT must terminate in the DMZ and can’t directly access the OT network. That the best practice and it does offer some security. The real issue is that the firewalls themselves are very vulnerable. http:// cve.mitre.org/ is the website publishing all the publicly known vulnerabilities of all IT products. The leading brand of Firewalls which are supposed to protect your infrastructure have dozens of vulnerabilities and most of them have default hard-coded login/password. These are known as back door to enable Security Services and well-informed hackers to get administrative access to them. This defeats totally their purpose, it’s like having a million-dollar safe but there is one single master key worldwide. Or this is as efficient as setting your nuclear missile launch code authorization to 00000000. Don’t laugh, it was the default for many years in the US. Why firewalls are so vulnerable? Because they are build using an operating system, best case scenario some flavor of Linux, which has vulnerabilities, software which has bugs and vulnerabilities, and configurations which are not secure by default. Even if your firewall was setup properly, and it’s a big if, its configuration has the tendency to drift and the firewall will end up looking as a piece of Swiss cheese: full of holes.

The FOX IT Data-Diode: a game changer So you have actual requirements, which you can’t ignore, to bridge Corporate IT and ICS OT networks, but the usual cybersecurity solutions are ineffective to protect your critical infrastructure which is a target for competent and properly funded/motivated hackers: what to do?

INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS CYBERSECURITY It’s near impossible to secure your Corporate IT networks because of its complexity and openness. The question is not if Corporate IT will be compromised but when it will be hacked and how devastating the impact will be. Therefore you need to be 100% sure, not 99.9% sure, that no hacker can jump from IT to OT. This is why you need to easily transfer data from ICS OT to Corporate IT with a device, being 100% sure, that whatever happens, nothing can be transfer from IT to OT. The FOX IT Data Diode is a layer-1 one-way pure hardware device, which guarantees that data are transferred from OT to IT while it’s physically impossible to send anything through the Diode from IT to OT. The Diode is a new class of product: it has no Operating System, no firmware, no logic, and no configuration.

You may think “that’s nice but none of my application on IT or OT is compatible with one-way traffic: they all rely on two-way applications and protocols such as TCP/IP.” If you don’t think so, that’s probably because you need a caffeinated beverage.

Actually the Diode is compatible with most protocols and industrial applications as far as the communication is one-way from a business perspective. A proxy on the OT side of the Diode will translate two-way protocols into a one-way communication and send the data one-way through the Diode. At the IT side of the Diode, another proxy will pick up the data, translates them back to twoway protocols and sends them to the IT network.

Are You Putting All Your Eggs In The Same Basket?

Digital transformation holds many opportunities for plant operators to enhance efficiency, increase flexibility and make their plants future-proof. At the same time, the growing level of automation and connectivity can be a door-opener for serious threats to plant security. In recent years, large-scale professional cyberattacks and chip hardware vulnerabilities affecting industrial plants around the globe have clearly shown the need for the process industry to take segregation and cybersecurity more seriously Why we need Segregation on all layers including Control and Safety?

In late 2017 a safety controller deployed in process facility in Middle East was hacked. The safety instrumented system (SIS) was compromised and initiated a plant shutdown. While no damage or injuries occurred, the incident should serve as a wake-up call to heighten awareness of segregation and cybersecurity in the industry as it was the first publicly-known successful attack on a safety instrumented system – which is the last line of defence in any process plant. Furthermore, critical hardware vulnerabilities affecting most modern processors have recently been identified. Attack modes such as Meltdown and Spectre exploited these in order to steal data from computers all around the world. It again reopened the discussion around the layer of protection and additional segregation requirement in different layers. An independent protection layer (IPL) is a device, system, or action that is capable of preventing a scenario from proceeding to its undesired consequence independent of the initiating event or the action of any other layer of protection associated with the scenario

is to reduce safety and security risks to a minimum.

Therefore, a holistic approach is needed which not only includes the core SIS (final control elements, logic solver incl. I/O module and sensors), but also its environment like the engineering station, asset management tools (AMS) and handhelds as well as field entry panels and HMIs. To reduce the risk in all prevention layers International standards provide guidelines and recommendations.

For instance Safety Standard IEC61511-2, states clearly that Basic Process Control System(BPCS) & Safety Instrumented System (SIS) should be completely separated, isolated & independent (clause 11.2.4). The standard states that SIS is normally separated from the BPCS for the following reasons a) To reduce common cause, common mode and systematic failures, minimizing the impact of BPCS failure on the SIS b) To retain flexibility for changes, maintenance, testing and documentation relating to the BPCS c) To facilitate the identification and management of the SIS devices, making the validation and FSA of the SIS more straightforward and clear. d) To support access security and enhance cyber security for the SIS, such that revision to BPCS functions or data do not impact the SIS e) To reduce the amount of analysis that should occur to ensure that the SIS and BPCS are properly designed, verified, and managed.

This separation can be achieved via identical separation (Same technology) or diverse separation (different technology). For SIL-3 and SIL-4 requirement diverse separation have to be adopted and identical separation is not sufficient. As stated in the IEC61511 standard, that nowadays, users prefer to utilize Programmable Electronics (PE) technology for both the BPCS and the SIS. As it provides maximum flexibility and the ability to interchange information between the BPCS and the SIS. But unfortunately these characteristics can be counterproductive when trying to maintain separation and independence between the BPCS and the SIS. ICSS is a concept with both BPCS and SIS integrated. It simplifies the configuration by using common network domain, common software library, Common Engineering work station. ICSS concept adopted for SIL-3 requirement, directly contradicts with IEC 61511-2, clause A9.4.2 for having different manufacturers for diversity. It also does not fulfil completely the measures of “Differences” as per IEC61511, Clause 11.2.4

Process Safety and Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity There is no safety without security The security requirements deserve to be defined in a similar manner which is to specify protection layers and provide separation between the layers. This is because the security environment is the protecting layer which prevents security threats reaching the SIS. Befitting with this concept, Zones and Conduit concept is described per the international standard for automation security, IEC 62443-3-2.

A zone, in line with this standard, is a dedicated part of an overall application where identical security recommendation apply. Each Zone is having clearly defined perimeters and dedicated interfaces to other Zones as shown in the Figure - Zone & Conduits (IEC 62443).

For each of the Zones (or layer) we need to define what level of security protection measures are to be implemented These measures are the ‘Foundational Requirements’ as per IEC 62443-3-3 and listed as following: 1.

Identification and authentication control 2.

Use control 3.

System integrity 4.

Data confidentiality 5.

Restricted data flow 6.

Timely response to events 7.

Resource availability The intent is to keep the threat or risk in a Zone from reaching another. Hence each Zone acts as a protection layer and any interface or conduit should have enough measures to avoid breach of security. Therefore the BPCS, SIS, Maintenance and Engineering workstation and office zones should be segregated.

The holistic approach should address security and safety management system, secure communication infrastructure and Zones\Layers capable to withstand security breaches. For instance for an effective cyber-defense, the computer infrastructure should be set up with a secure firmware (BIOS) management, reduced access rights and with only the required Windows services activated. Portable devices (Laptops) should not be used as engineering stations as they can be easily moved between zones. The engineering station should be kept completely separate from other functions and the engineering station for one zone should not handle the other zones. All devices (controllers, PCs, remote IOs, firewalls…) should feature an intelligent password management system and install mission specific set of application programs alone which are to be regularly updated with necessary patch management to list a few measures.

The need of the day is a lifecycle management approach for both Security and Safety. The design, realization, operation and maintenance should all provide a management plan for Security and Safety. This approach should not be applicable for the industry alone but users, manufactures, vendors, service providers all should take the responsibility to incorporate safety and security lifecycle management for themselves. We need to act now against a common threat.

A well-structured management plan for the Safety and Security should go in tandem. Data flow requirements, interfaces and required defense systems have to be designed and built according to the International Standards IEC 61508/61511, Security Standard IEC 62443 and others.

When a Dream Needs a Gentle Push to Give It Wings-Sponsored by Analytical Division Of ISA Growing up as the youngest child in a family of five, abandoned by your father, neglected by your elder brother and sister, with just your mother who is a day laborer in a physically unwell state of health and with the dreams of one day becoming a Chemistry Professor is really hard. This is exactly the condition of Mohammed Sajib Sheik, a 10 year old boy hailing from a slum in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Sajib’s father abandoned the family a long time ago.

His elder brother and sister are both married and living their own happy lives while almost totally neglecting the existence of their own mother and brother. Sajib’s mother, Sofia Begum works as a day laborer to provide for herself and Sajib. But, because of being physically unwell, she isn’t able to go to work daily and so the responsibility of taking care of his mother and himself falls on the meek shoulders of young Sajib. He has to works after school, selling newspapers and water bottles to meet their needs.

Like all other kids of his age, Sajib too loves playing cricket. He sings as well. But unlike every other kid whose role model might be a cricketer in this cricket crazy nation, Sajib’s role model is Alfred Bernhard Nobel, the world famous Swedish Chemist and founder of the Nobel Prizes, and hence his love for Chemistry.

Once, at school, during a session of Science, the teacher was teaching about mixtures and it was a little above the understanding capabilities of a regular Sixth Grader, but Sajib easily understood the concepts and was given the opportunity to perform experiment in front of the whole class, and that too very successfully.

He is passionate about his dreams to become a Chemistry professor one day and that is clearly reflected in his academics. But the only thing in his way to achieve that dream is the current situation he is in. No one to help him progress with his education, no one to guide him and help him plot his next steps

in education. And this is where C2C has come in to help him. C2C has taken Sajib under its wings and are supporting him by providing 1000BDT per month to help take care of their accommodation needs so that he can use the money he earns by himself to help complete his education and pursue his dreams of becoming a Chemistry Professor.

C2C has a really good idea of how Sajib should carry on his education so as to achieve his dream. The Bangladeshi educational system is basically divided into 7 levels: •Pre-primary: Play School to Kindergarten •Primary: Grade 1 to Grade 5 •Junior School: Grade 6 to Grade 8 •Secondary School: Grade 9 to Grade 10 •Higher Secondary: Grade 11 and Grade 12 •Bachelor’s Degree: 4 years •Master’s Degree: 1 year According to the above given system, Sajib is now in Junior School and has a minimum of 9 years of education left to finally be able to achieve his dream.

As per the Government curriculum, basic Science will be taught to all students from Grade 6 to Grade 8. From Grade 9, Science will be broken down into Physics, Chemistry and Biology. And it is also from Grade 9 that the education stream will be divided into Science, Arts and Commerce and this will be followed up until Grade 12. So, Sajib will have to opt for the Science stream from Grade 9 and then continue his education to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and then opt for a Master’s Degree in Chemistry to increase his chances of becoming a Chemistry Professor.

Sajib is currently being sponsored by the Analysis Division of ISA. With a helping and guiding hand behind him, Sajib can easily achieve his dream and build a brighter future for himself and his family.

THE WATER PROMISE – DMS Global joins hands with WATER RELIEF.ORG Clean water has become one of our most precious resources in the 21st century, in fact, one in nine people live without access to clean and drinkable water.

The water crisis is real. It’s affecting men, women, children, families, and farmers. Women and children are spending hours a day fetching dirty water which leads to illness and disease, robbing entire communities of their futures.

Lack of access to safe water and proper sanitation harms health.

When health is affected, it limits education, leading to a cycle of poverty.

DMS Global has joined hands with WATERRELIEF.ORG, a nonprofit charitable organization in helping to plant more fresh water wells and pumps throughout Africa and Asia.

Recently, DMS Global has taken an initiative to providing funds to dig a well in Ukhiya Village, Cox Bazar District, Chittagong division in Bangladesh.

This is to help the refugees from Myanmar who are currently residing in Bangladesh.
