Happy September, Dragons! I hope you were all able to have smooth transition from summer to school. We are now back into the daily routine of waking up before the sun rises, counting down the days until break, and completing piles of homework every night. With all of your busy schedules that consist of school, sports, extracurriculars, and more, I want you all to remember that your Key Club ohana will always be here for you! It is about 6 months into the 2013-2014 term already, and we have gone above and BEEyond in both service and fundraising efforts. You are all amazing individuals, and as you meet new people during this new school year, I hope you are able to inspire them to find their passion for service like you have. Since the school year has started for all of us already, let's do more for our community, while enjoying our time with our Key Club ohana. Attend Light the Night to support the fight against cancer, come to Region Training Conference to gain valuable information on how to serve the community in a million different ways, and of course, try to attend as many service events with your club as you can! One of the biggest events of the Key Club term is coming up...FALL RALLY! Fall Rally is essentially a HUGE fundraiser for Pediatric Trauma Program; last year, Fall Rally was able to raise over $100,000 for PTP. This accomplishment was all thanks to YOU. Each person who attends Fall Rally makes a direct contribution to PTP, so Fall Rally is much more than a day in an amusement park with some friends. Encourage as many people as possible to attend this event, it's all for a good cause! Also...we want to win that spirit stick, don't we?! I hope to see you all very soon. I'm sure it's been a long and tiring 3 weeks for us all, but that's easy to fix with a little Key Club in your life! Have a great night, Dragons. :) With Much Love, Katrina Nguyen 2013-2014 Lieutenant Governor

The biggest project on the agenda this month was preparing for Club Rush! We had new ideas to advertise to the whole school. During Club Rush I was pleased with the turnout of all the students interested. For the upcoming month I look forward to the weekly meetings, new events, and meeting the new key clubbers. We are going to start advertising and getting all the members hyped for Fall Rally! I am excited for what is to come for our club (: Key Club has definitely changed my life! It really helped me put myself out there and as a result meet so many new people! So far I have had the privilege of meeting some of the most motivational, inspirational, spirited, and all around fun individuals while being apart of this club! The experiences that I have gained are unlike those I have ever had! ily D4W Key clubbers ♼

In the past month, our club has been attending the weekly Movies-in-thePark events hosted by our city. We also prepared for club rush by making our posters, flyers, and cheers to recruit more members to our club. For this upcoming month, we plan to attend all the division events and host our first club social for the year. We hope that at our club social, we will be able to convince the members in registering for Key Club so that they can attend all of our fun events throughout the year. Key Club has changed my life because it has taught me so much in working with people, leading members, and collaborating in a team. Key Club has become part of my weekly schedule and my daily life. It has allowed me to help out my community as well as make new friends at every event I go to. Key Club is no doubt the best choice that I made throughout high school and I am glad that I stuck with it throughout all my years.

This past month, we attended the Edison Frisbee Tournament to support Emily and her leadership team as well as attended the Hyundai 5K Run Hope on Wheels. We also have been getting ready for Club Rush because our Club Rush is the last week of September. We plan on having a lot of posters with information about our meeting, flyers, sign-up sheets and our HB Key Club Flag to show our Key Club spirit and energy during Club Rush. Key Club has changed my life in many ways. It has challenged me to set and reach new goals and inspired me to be more involved in our community. I have learned that by attending just one small event for Pediatric Trauma Program or another good cause can make a huge difference and impact in our community because, often times, people forget that we are raising money or helping out at events for those in need and for those who are affected by a prevalent issue throughout the world. My favorite thing about Key Club would be that all of the people in the organization care about others and dedicate their time to volunteering in order to better our community and on a broader level, the world. Through Key Club, I have gained a different perspective of life through volunteer work and service. Every service event that we contribute to as individuals, as a club, and as a division, has a substantial, positive effect on our community. Ultimately, Key Club has shown me a whole new level of passion and love for community service.

. . . . . . We're finally back in school! This past month, Marina Key Club has been able to start off the new school year with events all around the community with events like the Hyundai 5K Run, Monarch Magic, and even a beach clean up! We're getting ready to recruit new members through Club Rush, and we look forward to a resurgence of old members and the coming of new ones. :) This upcoming month, we plan to do some last minute fundraisers to turn in for PTP by Fall Rally and to continue to volunteer wherever we're needed. Key Club has changed my life because it has molded me into the person I am today. When I joined Key Club as a freshman, I never expected that I would eventually hold the position as president, but with the help of all the people I have met in the past three years, I have gained a sense of confidence, leadership skills I never knew I had, and countless friends that are brought together by the passion for community service.

September was preparation for Club Rush, which has passed, and now it's anticipation for Light the Night. I'm excited, as well as returning members are excited, for that event. New members will be told of this event this week, at the first meeting--for which all the board members are nervous. Ever since two years ago, Key Club has changed my life. The change didn't really take place until last year, though, when I was secretary for my club. It was through attending every single event I could (courtesy of my president living about thirty seconds away) that I began to have a sense of belonging and commitment to the club. In a way, it shaped my views about how I see people. It also helped, and is still helping, my leadership and social skills. Key Club is something that I hold happily next to my hobbies and talents, and without it, I'm not sure what I'd do with my free time. I rather spend time brainstorming of fundraisers or stressing out because there isn't an event for one weekend than to do nothing at all.

. . . . . .

This month Saddleback will volunteer at the OC Book Festival and Light the Night, I am planning for my members to pay there dues by the end of this month. Key Club changed my point of view on service. Volunteering has a different definition to me now. Volunteering has the word "Fun" hidden in it.

Segerstrom key club has made a great first impression this new school year as we kicked off the beginning of many activities with a social! Filled with fun games and prizes we gathered new faces along with our fellow KIWIN'S to embrace the beginning of our key club family! Club rush is just around the corner and our club is looking forward to making new friends and dedicated members. Starting the year off right, we hope to promote our key club motto "caring--our way of life". Here's to a new year!
