Hello, Dragons! Summer is FINALLY here! I know you're all more than ready to stay up until the sun rises, spend your days on the couch watching netflix (or is that only me?), and go on summer night adventures, but summer is also a great time to do SERVICE! Come to our division car washes that will help Pediatric Trauma Program and the Eliminate Project, serve pancakes with your club on 4th of July, and do anything else that will help better our community. I hope you all are able to dedicate some time this summer to helping others. We have 2 schoolwork-free months, and with all this free time on our hands, we should be doing something that helps those who need it. With the past two division events, 4 West has truly blown me away. Raising $840 for March of Dimes to help prevent premature births and donating more than $400 to the American Cancer Society are two accomplishments that were made possible because of YOU! Don't lose your passion to help others now that summer is starting; everything you do will pay off in the end. Service never stops with Key Clubbers. Have a great summer, dragons! Remember to wear sunblock, sleep at reasonable times, start on your summer homework assignments early, and of course, help a person in need. With much love,

L O V E, WE LOVE OUR LTG!

Katrina Nguyen 2013-2014 Lieutenant Governor

Ahh, finally, finals are over! Now, it’s time to wind down with your Division 4 West Key Club because S U M M E R is here. You guys ready for our Region Beach Boomba? A time to hang out with other schools outside our division and meet some new people. Be social little ones. (There might be an opportunity to pie your LTG Katrina.) There will be many more events to come and they will be a blast.

Summer is finally here! Do you guys have that perfect summer body yet? If not make sure you do because you will need it this summer for the upcoming events. Make sure you bring that perfect summer body of yours to the car washes, Beach Boomba, and other exciting summer events. Make sure you keep the service alive and shining as bright as the sun this summer. Our goal is to see more attendance with summer events this year. I hope to see all your beautiful faces at our division events!

May was a busy month for all Dragons because of AP tests, SAT, Finals -- it was crazy! However I was especially proud of my members who among all their studying made time for service! This month, Edison attended two fun and inspirational events: Relay for Life as well as Duck-a-thon. We are also thankful and honored to be awarded Club of the Month for May. We are motivated to continue our service this summer. As a whole, our board has gathered to plan some awesome summer fundraisers to raise money for PTP. Summer is not a break from community service; it is actually the best time to do service! With so much extra time minus the ominous feeling that you still have homework to accomplish, Key clubbers have the opportunity to help our community while still keeping in-touch with our friends. Edison’s Board hope to continue to encourage our members to stay active with Key Club over the summer through activities such as local events, fundraisers, socials, division car washes, and Beach Boomba! Summertime is the best time to do service~

During the month of May, FV Key Club has attended quite a few events even with AP testing going on. Our biggest event was the Relay-For-Life. Half of our members stayed overnight and if they were not able to, they would stay the whole day. That same weekend, our members also attended Duck-A-Thon to retrieve the rubber ducks from the ocean. On May 26th, we held our second car wash for PTP. Although we did not profit much from the car wash because of Memorial weekend, we still had a lot of fun bonding with our club members. For the month of June, we plan to be holding a board training for our board members so that they can lead efficiently throughout their term. We also plan to have a board social with our buddy club Godinez. We will be looking forwards to Beach Boomba and the division social.

. . . . . . As the school year has geared towards its end, my excitement for the upcoming school year has only grown. I felt that my club ended off the year on a good note, especially considering what we had to work with throughout the beginning. We had a reasonably good turnout as a club at Relay for Life and we were even able to make a considerable contribution to the purchases of division t-shirts. June has been a bit of a slow month but we were able to kick off some fundraising which has provided back some good results already. In the final days of school, we underwent some simple selling of Rice Krispies and were able to raising a little over seventy dollars with very little effort which makes me excited to see what we can do next year. We had a simple beach clean up on the Saturday after school ended and were able to make an impact on the pollution at Huntington Beach. Afterwards, we were able to socialize with the Key Club Board of Fountain Valley High and all I can say is that they are an amazing group of people. The summer is something I look forward to although I am going to spend much of it hundreds of miles away from Orange County. I have international trips, courses at UC Santa Cruz, and ASB camp which will leave me with only three true weeks of summer but I am more than confident that my board will be able to fill in for me when needed. We have already laid the ground work for most of the summer and it should be smooth sailing from here.

Hey Key Clubbers! My name is Dakota Le and I am President of Huntington Beach High School Key Club! For the month of May, our club participated in March for Babies, Division 4 West Banquet, Locks of Love, recycling water bottles, and selling Division t-shirts. In the month of June, we participated in Relay for Life and Duck-a-thon. We also are looking forward to attending Officer Training Conference and Beach Boomba in June. Some events that we are taking into consideration are a car wash, food night fundraisers and a back-to-school dance with Ocean View, Mater Dei and Edison Key Clubs. The events in May and June were successful and fun and we look forward to being apart of all of the aforementioned events, this summer!

. . . . . . In the months of May and June, Marina Key Club has been able to accomplish a lot! We raised money for Project Eliminate during Eliminate Week by bringing baby bottles around school and asking students and teachers around our school to donate. We were able to raise a total of $243.77 through this simple and easy-to-do fundraiser. We also had a bake sale for the Pediatric Trauma Program at a local CVS pharmacy and were able to raise $62.00. Our club attended a local elementary school’s carnival, Duck-A-Thon, and Relay for Life. Currently, we are planning a lot for this upcoming summer ranging from fundraisers and socials to new service projects. We hope to increase the bond between the members of our club itself and the bond between our club and all the other clubs in the division.

The month of May was filled with car washes and service. We held two car washes because we wanted to raise money for PTP and Fall Rally. A lot of our members had fun making signs, advertising, and washing cars. The service part was working at the OC Marathon and at Relay for Life. Honestly, I think that walking around at Relay for Life was one of the best experiences because we were doing it for a good cause. The support and meaning behind our actions made a difference to those who are and were struggling, and I'm glad that everyone had the chance to see the impact of what we do as a club and community. Our summer will be filled with car washes and soup kitchens—always fundraising and community service. The fundraising will help us with our PTP goal and lowering the cost for Fall Rally, as well as other big events like DCON. As always, we will be doing service, even in the summer.

. . . . . .

Saddleback High School's Key Club said GOODBYE, to our wonderful Key Club advisor, Mr. Lee. We will miss him dearly and wish him luck for the future. We are now looking forward to Beach Boomba and ready to mingle and do some service.

Ocean View had a great month in May and June. We, like most of the other clubs, cried into AP reviewers and practice test while performing service. We became sleepless zombies in the pursuit of service and academic success. We are knight that battled projects, essays, tests, and service and won. We are brave and courageous Gryffindors for this mighty deed; for god sake, we paddled across a pool in a boat made of sticks and paper. Despite the obstacles, Segerstrom Key Club is active and getting their community service on !
