Breaking Free: The Path to Freedom and Success As we progress on our journey through our professional and business life, it's important to remember that success is not just defined by profits and growth, but also by the time and financial freedom it provides. Success and freedom are two concepts that are often intertwined, however, success alone may not bring happiness if it is not accompanied by freedom. When these two attributes combine, it allows us to live life with more of a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Listed below are some of the essential elements required for achieving business success and freedom.

The Power of Database Management A well-maintained client database can help you identify new sales opportunities, such as cross-selling and upselling. It also allows you to improve customer service, streamline marketing efforts, increase sales, enhance customer retention and make well-informed decisions. It’s recommended to simplify your clients’ information if possible, such as their contact details, email, demographics, preferences and purchase history.

4

The Art of Relationship Building Connect and nurture your relationship with influencers, thought leaders and other key players in your industry to unlock new opportunities, such as coaching, speaking engagements and partnerships. When looking to build long-lasting relationships, communicate regularly, invite them to your events, collaborate with them and provide exceptional service. It’s also worth considering giving value-added offers.

Maximising Current Clients for Growth and Expansion Your current clients provide valuable insights, referrals and testimonials that can help you attract new clients and expand your market reach. To retain your current clients, consistently deliver quality service, focus on giving value, offer subscriptions, give coupons and discounts, invite them to your events for free, and keep them informed and engaged with your services.

Leveraging New Clients to Expand Horizons A steady stream of new clients can bring in new streams of revenue, expand your network, and increase brand exposure and recognition. To attract new clients, develop a strong brand image, attend networking events, leverage word-of-mouth referrals and utilise lead generators and marketing strategies that work best for you.

Mastering the Role of SelfPromotion When you’re looking for business growth, consider ways to innovate your personal brand, share your expertise, speak at events, seek out media opportunities, leverage social media and partner with others. By promoting yourself effectively, establish yourself as an expert in your field, expand your reach and attract new clients to your business. If you want to build a business and live the life you desire, my one-on-one coaching is for you.

The Power in Reciprocity & Giving Back There’s no doubt about it – as we’ve outlined in a variety of articles in this series, networking is a powerful tool for growing your business, your connections and yourself! And being part of a business growth and networking community can have an even bigger impact. Why? Because within a networking group, it’s easy to find a variety of ways you can ‘give back’ to your community, which encourages a culture of mutual support and respect. There is power in giving back, and creating a virtuous cycle of reciprocity could have a bigger impact on your business growth than you’d ever imagine. When you discover and put into action the many ways in you which you can ‘give back’, you not only strengthen your network but also contribute to a broader cycle of enhanced trust and connection. This can extend far beyond the immediate benefits of networking, as it leads to a stronger culture of support and collaboration. By participating in mentorship programs, supporting others in community initiatives, or just generally being freer with your knowledge sharing, you ensure a positive and generous culture within the group. You inspire others to do the same, enabling a ripple effect that reaches deep within the community.

12

Giving back can also provide you with a sense of purpose and fulfillment that enhances your personal and professional growth, ultimately leading to a more meaningful and successful business journey.

Building Meaningful Relationships through Giving Building meaningful business relationships is not just about referring businesses to each other within the community; it's about cultivating genuine lasting connections that go beyond business transactions and profit margins. ‘Giving back’ to the community is a powerful way to do this, generating a higher level of trust and credibility.

This quickly leads to enhanced personal and professional connections forging deeper relationships with others who share similar interests or goals. By actively giving and offering support to others, you enable an increased sense of trust within the community as a whole. When people observe your willingness to help and provide value without expecting immediate returns, they are more likely to reciprocate and trust you in return. Trust is a crucial element in building strong, meaningful relationships.

Sharing Knowledge and Expertise A business growth community provides a robust platform for exchanging wisdom and expertise among its members.

13

By generously sharing what you know, as well as listening and learning from others, you endorse the vibrant culture of knowledge-sharing that benefits all members in the community. This not only supports your business to grow, but also strengthens the continuous learning culture within the network, contributing to an environment that allows everyone to tap into a diverse pool of perspectives and ideas. Different industries, backgrounds and experiences come together, sparking innovation and creativity that can lead to unique solutions and strategies. Generously sharing your knowledge and expertise also positions you as a thought leader in your field. Fostering a sense of collaboration can spark meaningful discussions and creative solutions, solidifying your reputation as a respected authority among your peers and increasing potential opportunities to give back through mentoring or guiding others.

INSIGHTS

By actively participating in community initiatives, whether through charitable donations, volunteering, partnerships and knowledge sharing, you not only fulfill your corporate and social responsibility, but also demonstrate a commitment to the success of others within the group. These acts of goodwill enhance your reputation as a business leader, allowing for further opportunities for collaboration with like-minded individuals and organisations who share a similar passion.

Volunteering and Community Involvement Networking often extends beyond professional circles into the general community. Engaging in volunteer work, donating to a common cause and overall community involvement together with your business growth network, allows you to make a positive impact within your local area. This approach in supporting your network not only benefits others but can also strengthen new connections. Contributing together in a collective effort towards a common cause, creates a profound sense of connection among members. This can have a compounding effect, as members witness the positive impact they create together, they are more inclined to support and assist each other. The virtuous cycle of reciprocity continues, building on an environment characterised by mutual respect, support and a genuine desire to help one another succeed.

The Power of Giving Referrals and Recommendations There are certain products and services we all need to keep our businesses running smoothly. And we all want to know we will receive good value for money when engaging those services. 14

As part of a business growth community, you are in a position to refer or recommend members to others; for their services, for job opportunities, partnerships or collaborations. When you actively help others in your community to source, not only what they need, but opportunities too, they are more likely to reciprocate by doing the same for you; it’s a cycle of mutual support. Recommending or referring others based on their skills and qualities can enhance your reputation as a reliable and knowledgeable network member. In turn, with the generous cycle of reciprocity, your credibility in the network can translate into more opportunities for you and your business. Overall, it’s clear to see how being part of a business networking group can enhance your opportunity to ‘give back’. Dare we say, that by giving back and being a willing contributor within your community, the cycle of reciprocity is a crucial part of your business growth.

Making Burnout Redundant Burnout is a growing problem, with between 65 and 75% of the Australian workforce reporting they are either experiencing burnout, have burnt out or are worried they might be. What is burnout?

II. Business owners and entrepreneurs driven to succeed, prepared to do whatever it takes. III. Perfectionists, high achievers and people pleasers who put others before themselves.

Defined by the World Health Organisation, burnout is an occupational syndrome resulting from exposure to chronic stress that has not been successfully managed.

Please note: Enthusiasm protection against burnout.

The main things to know about burnout: It’s preventable. It develops over time. It’s not the individual’s fault. It’s treatable. It can recur. It can coexist with depression. It covers a spectrum from mild to severe.

Why are so many of us burning out? The main reason is we are working in an unsustainable way. We have bought into the notion that success only comes from putting in the hard yards, working harder and for longer. We have neglected that we are human with clearly defined physiological and psychological limits. Who is at risk? 16

I. Employees overwhelmed unmanageable workloads.

Making burnout redundant requires a systemic strategy starting with building awareness of friction points and tensions in your workplace. Ask, what is working well or not so well and what can be done differently to make that process better. Things to consider: Be honest. Are you working too much? Establish a safe environment for robust and candid conversations. Set realistic boundaries around life and work. Burnout is preventable and it’s time to make it redundant. What measures will you be taking to keep yourself safe?

own growth the same as you do the business growth. When we understand that our business is a reflection of us, and that our limitations are our business limitations, we can preemptively take the time to look at the structures, ie. beliefs, narratives and associations that are fundamental in limiting or expanding our growth.

Whether you are a startup entrepreneur or well-established CEO, business is one of the greatest teachers life will provide. What many fail to see is how our personal lives hold the lessons we need in business too. Often discarded as an annoyance to business focus and success, personal challenges can provide the missing piece, or the pathway, to the next level when we embrace the reality that all elements of experience are a reflection of us as individuals. So for example, the issues a person has in their intimate relationships will directly impact or impede the growth in business, not simply due to the focus it takes, but because the same issues are likely to show up in the dynamics at work, with staff and clients. Often unconscious and hidden from view, these issues fester until they become overwhelming and we are forced to look.

The message here is to look within yourself for your business growth.

You Are Your Business Growth

NOBLE Self-Leadership – Being Selfish to be Selfless We’re not talking about some aristocratic birthright here, we’re talking about another definition of NOBLE … in that it means to: possess outstanding qualities, or possessing, characterised by, or arising from superiority of mind or character or of ideals or morals. This is applicable to both individuals and organisations alike. In business, where risks are high, the NOBLE framework provides exactly what you need to ensure a solid foundation for leadership, effective decision-making and continuous improvement. Non-judgment: High-pressure situations require an open mindset. Non-judgment fosters a culture where diverse perspectives are valued, leading to more robust and effective decisions. Observant questioning: A culture of curiosity is critical to maintaining high reliability. Encourage teams to observe closely, actively seek information, and then ask probing questions of fact – not opinion. Body: Unless you’ve already gone 100% AI, people are the reason for your business success. In business and in life, our physical and mental health directly impact performance. 18

When we ensure wellbeing, we’re better equipped to handle challenges with clarity, focus and resilience. Lead: Leadership plays a pivotal role. Those who perform best, lead themselves first with values-based intentional action. They inspire others with their courage, integrity and compassion. Strong authentic leadership of self sets the tone for the entire organisation. Evolve: Embracing a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement is crucial. Learn to fail with humility and adapt practices accordingly to stay ahead in complex and ever-changing environments. Put simply, by embodying the NOBLE framework, high-risk and highreliability organisations create an environment where excellence and safety, people and profit thrive. Would you like to be NOBLE?

Ever wondered why some businesses attract and retain customers effortlessly while others struggle to compete? The reason lies not just in the product, but in a profound understanding of customer-centricity — the foundation of lasting success and not just a funky buzzword. I urge businesses to delve deeper, grasp the underlying customer needs and revisit every process from a customer journey perspective.

Identifying the Heart of Customer Needs Delivering to the deeper needs of your customers goes beyond providing a product; it’s about crafting experiences that resonate and foster satisfaction and loyalty. Adopt a customer-centric lens, constantly probing and understanding what the true desires of your customers are. Regularly engage and actively seek feedback using storytelling techniques, as well as open and probing questions.

Embracing the Customer’s Perspective in Your Business Despite a market leading product, do you ever find competitors have an edge?

19

The resolution is more straightforward than it appears: viewing your business through your customers' eyes – how to find you, how to buy from you and how to provide you feedback. A shift in perspective allows a clear vision of areas for improvement.

Ensuring Relevance in Automation While automation embodies efficiency, it can sometimes bypass the pivotal element of significance. Continually assessing the relevance of processes is critical to steer clear of automating irrelevant tasks and supports focusing on genuinely beneficial areas to you and the customer. Always consider if the process efficiency for your business is creating a barrier for your customer. Embarking on a customer-centric pathway promises a robust foundation for a flourishing business landscape. This pathway advocates for a shift from a mere product focus or an internal focus, to a comprehensive understanding of genuine customer needs, enriching their journey with your brand.

Rapid Discoveries in the Science of Longevity, Artificial Intelligence & Medical Inventions Will Extend Lives by Decades in the Near Future. How can you stay younger on the inside until these breakthroughs arrive? Some longevity protocols are simple, and others need to be customised depending on your genetics, current health and vision of what you want life to look like as you celebrate more birthdays. Longevity is not how long you live but how you are physically, mentally and emotionally as you age. You can positively impact over 80% of your healthspan with modifiable factors. You can know you are on the right track by measuring, making changes and re-measuring your biological markers and physical abilities. Just like developing a wealth plan, the sooner you start, the more achievable your longevity goals will be. We all know that sleep is important to reduce the rate of ageing, so instead of thinking you need to sleep more, start by measuring your sleep quantity and quality. Make changes to your sleep routine such as getting the right light into your eyes at the right times of the day, then re-measure.

20

You can see if the changes have been impactful, or if you need to modify other factors. Similarly, adopt an antiinflammatory diet or an anti-ageing exercise routine, then measure the impact to direct your longevity journey. This will enable you to do more of the things that make you feel alive, helping you to live longer. Longevity science and AI will change your life - be ready until that magic pill is invented that will give you more time. A longer life to contribute to the world you have created and enjoy more time with those who are important to you. Sleep, eat and move well to start living better for longer.

If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that we can’t ignore the importance of holistic wellness at work. So, do you consciously protect your wellbeing? Or do you push and push until you crash… only to do it all over again after you recover? As a business leader, when you don’t protect your wellbeing, your performance plummets and your business pays the price. That’s why it’s important to understand workplace wellness. For you, yes, but also for your staff. Healthy workplaces embed quality leadership, personal wellbeing and healthy work in their daily operations. Quality Leadership. So, do you know what good leadership looks like? Does it look like you? Personal Wellbeing. When you understand wellbeing, you can detect imbalances early and nip them in the bud. And when you aren’t caught up in your own problems, you have the space to help others.

Harness the Power of Wellness: Maximise Business Performance

Social Capital Explained How do you feel receiving feedback from a good friend, compared with someone you don’t like? How much further will you go to help someone who you like, compared with someone you don’t know? And how hard is it to say ‘No’ to someone you respect, compared with someone you don’t? These are examples of social capital at play in our lives. Now, think about how this can play out for a business. In our experience in working with a range of different clients, we routinely see clients struggle to achieve their business outcomes on time and on budget, despite having talented individuals and being well-resourced. What we often see, is that the biggest constraint is a lack of what’s known as ‘social capital’.

So, what is social capital? ‘Social capital’ can be described as the networks and relationships that exist within companies. It is a resource that is slowly being recognised as being critical to organisational success, however many companies still don’t invest in it. Research shows that social capital is one of the key ingredients to building high-performance teams – and it’s easy to invest in. 22

Why is social capital important? Studies in social psychology show us that our brain prioritises warmth over competence. This happens subconsciously, so no matter how much we as leaders focus on showing our employees or stakeholders how competent we are or how good our business is, the first question they are subconsciously asking is “do I like this person?” If the answer is yes, then they are more likely to engage with us and value our perspective. If the answer is no, they are more likely to ignore our feedback and it is easier for them to reject our proposals. In an organisational setting, the old saying that ‘familiarity breeds contempt’ has been proven to be incorrect. Familiarity breeds connection, collaboration and empathy, and social capital allows us to breed familiarity with our stakeholders – both internal and external to our organisation. Common behaviours that we see in organisations with low social capital are things like:

23

The benefits of investing in social capital are significant, especially in the current environment. Businesses are facing new complex challenges that peoples’ expertise is insufficient to solve. Collaboration between teams and stakeholders is critical to solve these challenges, and this requires high social capital. Other benefits of social capital include: Employees being more receptive to feedback and open to changing their behaviour when they like and respect leaders. Difficult conversations with contractors are centred around mutual respect and moving forward, and this saves the need for paying a third party to mediate. Clients are more likely to accept proposals. There is free flow of ideas where everyone feels safe and motivated to contribute.

Ways to apply social capital There are numerous ways individuals and organisations can strengthen the social capital with their stakeholders. Leaders should create an environment where social capital can grow naturally. One example of this is learning to exercise empathy before challenging others. Research shows us that empathy allows us to challenge others without damaging the relationship. At a contractor, supplier or a client level, project teams can demonstrate empathy by using a process of Empathy Mapping – a collaborative tool that can be used to gain a deeper insight into other’s reality, context, worries, motivations, fears and aspirations. Particularly over disagreements, this allows us to firstly separate the problem from the person, meaning we hit the problem hard - not the person. Secondly, it allows us to understand, appreciate, and honour the intentions of others and not just judging their behaviours. To know more, visit: https://corporatesherpas.au/ Or email us on info@corporate-sherpas.au

INSIGHTS

Feedback being poorly received, with employees becoming defensive and assigning blame, and in turn, less likely to change their behaviour. Meetings with contractors focus on policies and procedures and often result in needing third party involvement. Clients being less likely to accept proposals when they don’t have a connection with an organisation. In meetings, employees are less likely to share new ideas due to a lack of engagement or fear of being criticised. This can also lead to ‘Quiet Quitting.’

How Economics Can Improve Your Business Performance Economists possess specialised knowledge and analytical skills that can help small businesses navigate the complexities of the economic landscape and support them to make informed decisions.

By assessing the financial implications of different decisions, such as investments in new technologies or market expansions, economists help businesses make well-informed choices that maximise profitability

Firstly, economists can assist small businesses in conducting market analysis. By studying market conditions, identifying trends, and analysing the competitive landscape, economists can provide valuable insights into potential opportunities and threats. This information enables small businesses to develop effective strategies for pricing, production and expansion.

Additionally, economists can provide valuable insights on government policy and regulation. They can help small businesses understand the economic impacts of government policies, such as tax reforms or industry regulations, and adjust their strategies accordingly.

Secondly, economists are adept at forecasting and planning. They can provide meaningful predictions on key economic factors such as inflation, interest rates, local and regional population growth, and consumer behaviour. These forecasts enable small businesses to make proactive plans, allocate resources efficiently, and mitigate risks associated with uncertain economic conditions. Thirdly, economists can conduct costbenefit analyses for small businesses.

24

Lastly, economists can assist with pricing strategies, financial analysis, and risk management. They help small businesses set optimal prices, analyse financial data, identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to manage risks effectively. The expertise of an economist can be invaluable for small businesses. By leveraging their knowledge and analytical skills, small businesses can gain a competitive edge, make informed decisions, and achieve sustainable growth in a rapidly changing economic environment.

The ABS released its June quarter National Accounts recently. They show the WA economy expanded by around 3.7 per cent in real terms over the year to June, faster than any other jurisdiction. The national economy grew by 2.2 per cent. Household consumption made the biggest contribution to growth followed by private investment. While some households are obviously doing it tough, particularly those with a new mortgage, consumption is on average holding up very well. Nonetheless, WA households have been dipping into their record levels of savings over the past couple of years to maintain spending. This can’t last forever. WA’s population has grown by its fastest rate since 2013, adding over 100,000 people since 2022. The means that on a per capita basis, consumption is trending slightly down as higher prices and mortgage rates squeeze household budgets. While private investment grew, it remains low by historical standards. The existing stock of capital per worker has declined, leading to very poor productivity. Productivity is the only way to sustainably increased living standards in the long run.

25

WA’s labour market is tracking well, although the unemployment rate has been trending upwards since March last year. Currently at a still low 3.8 per cent, NSW, VIC, SA, and the ACT all have lower unemployment rates than WA. This typically reduces interstate and overseas migration, slowing population growth. The RBA, under new governor Michele Bullock, held interest rates steady at Tuesday’s meeting. With 12 increases in the cash rate since May 2022 still working their way through the economy they are in a wait-and-see pattern. The uptick in the monthly inflation measure for August, to 5.2 per cent, will be a concern.

Why Business Process Management (BPM) Matters to You Ever felt your business operations could be smoother? Or wondered why some competitors seem to adapt faster than you? In today's fast-paced business environment, efficiency and adaptability are essential for survival. This is where Business Process Management (BPM) comes into play, offering a systematic approach to making an organisation's workflow more effective, efficient and adaptable. Efficiency: At its core, BPM seeks to streamline business processes. By identifying bottlenecks, redundancies and unnecessary steps, companies can optimise their operations, not only saving time but also reducing costs. Adaptability: Markets change, and businesses need to change with them. BPM allows organisations to be agile, adjusting their processes in response to market shifts, technological advancements or regulatory changes. Visibility: BPM tools provide a clear overview of business processes, enabling managers to monitor operations. This transparency ensures that any issues are identified and addressed. Without BPM, businesses risk wasting both time and money on inefficient processes, operational profitability. 26

Inefficient processes slow down a company's response time, making it less competitive in the market. Without a clear understanding and management of business processes, companies may risk non-compliance, which can result in hefty fines or legal actions.

3 Simple Steps for SMEs Map: Chart and visualise existing workflows across departments using simple diagrams or tools like Miro.com. Pinpoint: Analyse workflows to identify bottlenecks, redundancies or steps that don't add value. Seek insights from team members as they often have firsthand knowledge of where improvements can be made. Selling a business is a significant decision that requires careful preparation to ensure a successful and smooth transaction. As a business owner, you play a crucial role in the process, and understanding the stages involved is essential for achieving a favourable outcome. Let’s explore the three main stages of selling a business and the key considerations in each phase with the guidance of experienced business lawyers.

Stage 1: Get Your Business Ready for Sale with the Help of a Business Lawyer The first step in selling your business is to ensure that it’s ready for sale. Proper preparation is crucial to maximising the value of your business and attracting potential buyers. Engaging a business lawyer experienced in commercial law can be immensely beneficial during this stage. They can conduct a thorough Sellers Due Diligence early on, helping to identify and address any issues that may negatively impact the sale price or cause problems down the line. Here are some tips to get your business ready for sale with the assistance of a business lawyer:

43

1. Conduct a Sellers Due Diligence: A business lawyer can investigate the business, its assets, and business relationships to address any legal issues before the business goes on the market. 2. Ensure Legal Compliance: A business lawyer can assist in registering the business name and trademarks in your name, discharging any old PPSR charges, and documenting all key contracts to add value to the business. 3. Review Financial Aspects: Collaborate with your business lawyer and accountant to review the financial aspects of the business, ensuring your finances are in order and attractive to potential buyers.

Stage 2: The Contract Stage with Expert Commercial Lawyers Once your business is ready for sale, the Contract Stage begins, where the parties enter into a legally binding agreement. This stage is critical in solidifying the deal with the buyer and negotiating terms of the sale.

Successfully Selling Your Business: Tips and Insights from Business Lawyers

It is highly recommended to work with expert commercial lawyers during this stage to protect your interests and ensure a smooth transaction. Key aspects during the Contract Stage include: 1. Document Agreed Commercial Terms: Your commercial lawyer can help document all main commercial terms of the offer, such as parties, price, settlement date and conditions to be satisfied before completing the sale. 2. Negotiate Additional Terms: Commercial lawyers can negotiate other important issues not yet agreed upon, such as the period and geographic area of the Seller’s restraint of trade, employee entitlements and apportionment of the purchase price. 3. Attachments and Matters: Your commercial lawyer will ensure that all necessary schedules, such as asset lists, intellectual property, leases, licenses, permits, and employees’ details, are included in the contract. 4. Exchange of Contract: Once the business sale agreement is agreed upon, the parties sign the contract, making it legally binding. 5. Fulfill Contract Obligations: Your commercial lawyer will guide you to meet key dates and obligations outlined in the contract to avoid breaching your responsibilities.

44

Stage 3: Settlement with the Support of Business Lawyers The final stage of selling your business is Settlement, where the sale of your business becomes unconditional, and ownership is transferred to the buyer. This stage involves several legal and financial complexities that require expert advice from business lawyers. Here’s what you need to know about the Settlement stage: 1. Transferring the Lease: Your business lawyer will help prepare to transfer the lease to the buyer, including the necessary documentation and ensuring you are released from any obligations after settlement. 2. Business Name and Licenses: Your business lawyer will guide you in transferring the business name and any necessary licenses required for operation to the buyer. 3. Plant and Equipment: Your business lawyer will assist in transferring ownership of any equipment or assets involved in the business. 4. Employees: Your business lawyer will ensure that employees are properly notified of the upcoming business sale, calculate their entitlements, and ensure the buyer is aware of their obligations regarding employees.

6. Settlement Statements: Your business lawyer will help you agree on settlement adjustments, such as rental payments and provide payment directions to different parties receiving payments. 7. Stocktake: Your business lawyer can advise on conducting a stocktake to assess the value of the stock if it’s not included in the purchase price. 8. Settlement Day: On settlement day, the final transfer of ownership takes place, and you’ll hand over the keys to the business and any required documentation.

This article provides the key insights and tips for business owners looking to sell their businesses successfully. The Power of Authenticity It’s an amazing statistic but the average person in Australia can see up to ten thousand ads online each day. And without you even realising, these ads do influence your decisions to purchase. With the number of online users increasing every day, the number of ads being viewed also increases proportionately. Here are 5 Important Google Ads PPC (pay-per-click) statistics for Australian businesses 1. The average ROI for a PPC ad is 200%, so for every $1 spent, the average PPC ad would return $2. 2. Retargeting works! Customers are 70% more likely to purchase when you use retargeting marketing strategies. 3. Over 50% of ad clicks are from mobile devices. 4. When exposed to display ads, users are more likely to search specific keyswords by 155%. 5. Compared to SEO, PPC can generate up to twice as many visitors. Source (Bloomtools) Jan 2022

We are living in an age where there has been an explosion of advertising, from large brands to solopreneurs. Thanks to social media and platforms like Youtube and Google, anyone and everyone can create ads at little to no cost and push their media on any platform. 48

However, consumers are more perceptive than ever before and can quickly spot insincere advertising. If Australian businesses want to gain an advantage over their competitors, they must strive to be Authentic in their social media marketing. Authenticity builds trust and when you are genuine, you can connect to audiences on a more human level, which then creates transparency and trust. Authenticity

in

advertising

can

significantly increase engagement, and when business owners showcase the heart and soul of who they are, they create opportunities for communication and interaction with their followers. And then by engaging and responding to comments and messages, businesses can build a sense of community, which increases social proof leading to more word-of-mouth referrals.

It’s good to script your videos but don't overdo it - try go with the flow a little. Perform the presentation personally and avoid using a voice over artist Talk to your audience as if you were having a face-to-face conversation – this can help you relax a little too. Ensure your content is engaging, accurate and educates your audience. Include some 'behind the scenes' of your business - team meetings, milestones and celebrations. Build for the Future: Your Strategic Partner Make the most of the current economic climate

In-depth Market Research & Consumer Insights

Optimised Digital Strategies

Why Economic Downturns are the Best Times to Rebrand or Launch New Initiatives In the midst of economic downturns, uncertainty pervades, and the business landscape seems fraught with challenges. It’s not uncommon for businesses to scale back, entering a type of “survival mode”. However, this can present opportunities for businesses to successfully rebrand or start new projects. Here, we discuss how a comprehensive strategy is instrumental in helping businesses leverage economic downturns for long-term success. Economic Downturns: A Potential Opportunity?

Expert Branding and Creative Services

Comprehensive Launch Support

Leigh Doyle

During periods of economic prosperity, the market is saturated with noise and the advertising space is cluttered. Conversely, an economic downturn sees businesses adopting a conservative approach, leaving a void in the market. This vacant space, accompanied by lower advertising costs and increased availability of market share, offers a valuable opportunity for businesses to enhance brand visibility. Assessing and Mitigating Risks The elevated stakes during economic downturns requires strategic foresight. However, these calculated risks have the potential to catapult businesses into unparalleled growth when the economy recovers.

The Art and Science of Rebranding Rebranding isn’t just about aesthetics. Downturns often change consumer behaviour. Brands that adapt, like those recognizing the rise of value-conscious consumers post the 2008 crisis, stand to gain long-term. Launching New Avenues for Growth A slower market can be the best testing ground for new products. With fewer competitors, new ventures can find theirfooting and fill gaps. Thinkify: A Catalyst for Transformative Success Thinkify acts as a strategic partner for businesses looking to make the most of the current economic climate, offering an array of solutions. 1. In-depth Market Research & Consumer Insights With advanced data analytics, we decode consumerpreferences, helping businesses pivot effectively.

2. Optimised Digital Strategies Despite limited budgets, Thinkify designs high-ROI campaigns, from Pay-Per-Click to social media, ensuring every dollar counts. 3. Expert Branding and Creative Services Our team ensures your new brand image is impactful, representing your core values. 4. Comprehensive Launch Support From idea to execution, we’re with businesses every step of the way, ensuring ventures have a lasting marketimpact. Leveraging Downturns for Future Success Companies that leverage downturns as growth opportunities not only survive but can lead in the post-challenge era. For businesses ready to turn challenges into opportunities, Thinkify is the partner you've been seeking. Enduring the storm is commendable, but leveraging it for transformational growth is visionary.

Getting Your Team Onside; Lessons From the Coalface The days of closed offices and ivory

Once example from our business is we

towers are gone. As Directors, we take home the spoils of war; but our team need to get something from it too. Money is great; but mutual respect and agency over their roles are what makes or breaks a working relationship.

employ a “No Mam/Sir or Mr/Mrs” Policy.

At Leap Resourcing, out motto is Outsource + Grow. This is growth not just for our clients and my bank account; but for our employees as well. Often clients say to me “staff just don’t care about the business like I do.” Should they? What are you doing to involve them, incentivise them? Just because you think something is of value doesn’t mean it’s of any value to them. A simple thank you, letting a junior staff member be part of a big project or decision, finding out about their personal and career goals and ticking their boxes just as you expect them to tick yours. Remuneration is one reason why we go to work; but people often leave for other reasons. Having a culture where everyone feels included and valued as part of the common goal is crucial to this. Collaborate; multiple heads are better than one. There are simple changes to everyday behaviours which impact how team members feel at work. 52

We are all talented humans; first name basis sets the stage where all teammembers are partners in the businesses success. Be a part of their success too. Do they want to upskill, what are their dreams. Align your goals with theirs and make it translatable. If they want to become a triathlete; ask them how work can fit around their training (you will win bigtime with unrivalled loyalty and attendance!). A rousing thank you email on Friday afternoon or thank you speech at Friday drinks shows appreciation to your team. Find something positive to say about everyone and let everyone know they are appreciated. Not telling anyone how to suck eggs; but these are the things most employers forget.

I'm excited to share some of our recent business achievements at Minuteman Press Canning Vale, East Perth, Joondalup & Fremantle, and I couldn't be prouder of how far we've come. One of my biggest dreams was to have our own in-house production hub, and that dream has become a reality. We've invested in top-notch equipment, starting from a regular printer to wideformat printers, poster printers and even laser engravers. These upgrades mean we can now deliver higherquality prints with fast turnarounds. Not all printers have the advantage of an in-house production hub like we do, which allows us to quality-check our products thoroughly before they reach our clients. But that's not all! We've added some fantastic new machines. An embroidery machine has opened a world of possibilities for customising apparel and promotional products. The introduction of a Riso printer has enabled us to produce NCR books with precision and efficiency. Plus, we've acquired a label printer and expanded our capabilities to include laminating services, from large posters to small business cards.

53

I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our 6th birthday celebration at Minuteman Press Canning Vale. It was a fantastic night filled with fun and success. If you happened to miss the event, don't worry; you're always welcome to visit us. Just get in touch, arrange a meeting with me, and we'll happily book you in. We look forward to sharing our latest capabilities and serving your printing needs with excellence.

Getting the Technology Mix Right The world of IT has never been more about technology than it is today. With automation, the emergence of programmed responses and the journey towards Artificial intelligence, many business owners believe they are getting left behind. But is all new technology suitable for your business? At GroupSupport we believe that the right technology for your business is more important than having the latest & greatest. My name is Peter Trenaman, and when I started GroupSupport we couldn’t have foreseen how rapidly, and randomly across so many areas, technology is progressing. One thing we did know, was that no matter what happened going forward, our customers would need help with their IT. Many times across the 17 years, I’ve found that staff often didn’t use the available technology properly because it was too old. The opposite is also true. Businesses can put in the latest and greatest technology that is ill suited and simply wastes time and energy. But there is another option. A

warehousing

company

finished automating platforms, enabling

recently

their B2B automated

processing of orders for, and delivery of pick slips to, the warehouse staff.

54

A new complex bluetooth reporting system worth $1,000's was proposed, but the staff wanted a simple web page on the supervisors desk, able to be updated when they were ready. They manually refresh the page to show them what is left to do. Existing technology, when used correctly and appropriately with new, often provides the most accessible solution. GroupSupport have access to a wide variety of people and organisations across the network who help us with our business of helping yours. We look at all the options to make sure the technology is right for you. Just another one of the benefits of having a dedicated group of IT support people on your side.
