Calendar February 12 Annual Valentine’s Dance & Auction. East Granby Baseball Parents Committee will host its annual Valentine’s dance and auction at the Suffield VFW (972 Sheldon Street). 2/3/11 — At approximately 8:00 pm, Farmington Police received a 911 call from a male asking how much trouble he could get in by growing one marijuana plant. When the dispatcher told the man he could get arrested, he said thank you and hung up. The 911 call originated from 192 Waterville Road. Farmington narcotics officers responded and discovered the man was growing marijuana. He admitted spending a lot of money on line buying everything he needed to grow marijuana, including the seeds. Narcotics officers seized a small amount of marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia designed for growing and smoking marijuana. The arrested man, Robert Michelson, was released on bond and left the police station, but not before giving the dispatchers two middle fingers, presumably for doing such a good job.

As a kid, I worried about getting as many flimsy paper cards as everyone else, and in high school I obsessed over whether or not my boyfriend would sign his card Love, So-and-So — and, if he did, what that might mean. When I finally had a husband to send over-priced roses declaring me his one and only (as if marrying me didn’t count), I was sure my worries were over.
