Rethinking Retail is a practical programme designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities of retail experiences in Ireland's visitor attractions.
The programme is designed to help you:

Who should apply for Rethinking Retail?
This programme is designed for General Managers, Commercial Leads and Retail Managers in visitor attractions across Ireland, who are key commercial decision makers. This programme is for you whether your retail offering is a key revenue driver, a developing opportunity, or a way to support your mission and visitor journey. Your visitor attraction must have a physical retail space and/or an online shop.
Eligibility criteria for the Lead Programme Participant
º You have dedicated responsibility for retail in the attraction.
º You have access to retail performance data for the visitor attraction.
º You are a key commercial decision-maker for retail in the attraction and, if not, consider bringing a key commercial decision-maker along to the workshop. (Max. 2 participants per attraction).
º You can commit an estimated 15 hours to this programme between April and September 2026.
This programme is considered State Aid given under De Minimis
This support is provided under the EU De Minimis Regulation, which allows up to EUR 300,000 in aid over any rolling three-year period.
Eligibility check required
Applicant businesses to this programme must be able to confirm they have not received or are an active applicant for State Aid support to the cumulative value of €300,000 within the last 36 months which includes this programme value of up to €2,500.
What happens next?
Eligible applicants will be contacted by Fáilte Ireland’s Programme Team to complete a De Minimis State Aid selfdeclaration form on the Fáilte Ireland Trade Portal.

This information is being gathered in accordance with a central EU De Minimis State Aid register operated by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment from 1 January 2026, which records supports provided to businesses in line with EU transparency rules.
