Founded by St. Manchan in the 7th century. The information board on site describes the church, holy well, toghers (wooden roads) and the oratory. You will also find directions to Boher Church to see the shrine to St. Manchan. The feast day of St. Manchan is celebrated on 24th January each year and St. Manchan’s Shrine is still venerated at the Catholic church in Boher.

Each piece is handcrafted from the remains of trees hidden in the bog and brought to the surface thousands of years later.

One of the most famous monastic sites in Ireland, Clonmacnoise is located along the River Shannon. Founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century, it became a great centre of religion and learning for scholars from all over the world. Today, the site exists as a preserved ruin where you can see three high crosses, a cathedral, seven churches and two round towers.
