How to VOTE IN JAIL

You must vote using a mail-in ballot, also known as an absentee ballot.

You must apply for an absentee ballot.

The County Board of Elections must receive your absentee ballot application for the general election by October 23, 2023.

You can request an absentee ballot application by contacting New York State Board of Elections or Disability Rights New York. That means you should put it in the mail by October 16, 2023 so the post office can deliver it in time.

How to REGISTER TO VOTE

Contact the State Board of Elections Office and request a voter registration form.. Call 518-432-7861 or write to 279 Troy Road, Suite 9 PMB 236 Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Call 518-474-6220 or write to NYS Board of Elections, 40 North Pearl Street, Ste. 5, Albany, NY 12207-2729.

Contact Disability Rights New York and request a voter registration form.

The County Board of Elections must receive your voter registration form by (postmark date): October 28, 2023.

You are in jail for misdemeanor or violation convictions;

You are in jail awaiting trial for a felony conviction; You were convicted of a felony but did not receive a sentence; You have completed your sentence for a felony conviction.
