ice paradise / Isparadis The Ice Land Water Park in Ras Al Khaimah, an hour’s drive from Dubai, is a cool attraction in an otherwise overheated Middle East. The 110,000 square metre (1,184,000 square foot) water park opened in 2010 as the first amusement park in the Emirates. It has a frozen winter landscape centred on a manmade mountain and 1,500 artificial penguins. The park´s motto is “Let’s Freeze the Desert” and attractions have names such as Mount Iceberg and Snow Village. Luckily, there is no risk of real snow or frostbite. TREND: Travel off season / Reis utenom sesongen Carnival time in Brazil will soon be upon us, and it will be impossible to find an affordable hotel room or peace and quiet in Copacabana. Thomas Stanley, of the luxury travel agency Cox & Kings, thinks travellers in 2012 will be more interested in going to famous destinationslike this during off season. Brazil is perfect in October, because that is before the tourist season, just like Turkey is also perfect then because it is after the high season. He recommends China in March and April, because the weather is okay and there are few tourists; and India in May for the same reasons.
