“
Transformar Educando”, A.C., es una asociación civil que da servicio a las zonas vulnerables de tres poblados de la Riviera Maya: Chemuyil, Akumal y Puerto Aventuras desde hace 18 años. Desde abril del 2015 nos hemos enfocado principalmente en programas de educación humanista siendo centros no lucrativos e inclusivos, abiertos a todas las personas que requieren de apoyo. En julio de 2015 nos incorporamos al IEEA (Instituto Estatal para la Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos con Rezago Educativo). Impartimos alfabetización, primaria y secundaria certificados por el IEEA y la Secretaria de Educación. En enero del 2016 abrimos bachillerato certificado por Colegio de Bachilleres. Brindamos programas de inglés en alianza con FOPA (Friends of Puerto Aventuras) a quienes apoyamos con un salón en nuestro centro comunitario. En Puerto Aventuras atendemos a 300 personas en situación vulnerable, ¡ven y conócenos! Únete a nuestro grupo de voluntarios, participa y cambia la vida de quienes más te necesitan.

Transformar Educando”, A.C., is a civil association that provides services to vulnerable zones of three villages from the Riviera Maya: Chemuyil, Akumal and Puerto Aventuras since 18 years ago. Since April 2015 we have focused mainly in humanist education programs being nonprofit inclusive centers, open to all the people who need help. In July 2015 we joined to the IEEA (State Institute for the Education of Young and Adults with Educational Backwardness, in English). We teach literacy, elementary and junior high school certified by the IEEA and the Education Secretary. In January 2016, we opened certified high school by the Baccalaureate College. We give English programs in partnership with FOPA (Friends of Puerto Aventuras) to whom we help with a classroom in our community center. In Puerto Aventuras we attend to 300 persons in vulnerable situations, come and meet us! Join to our volunteer group, take part and change the lives of the most needed. Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm.

¿Por qué los seres humanos sentimos la necesidad de viajar?
Why do human beings feel the need to travel?

L
a razón por la que nos gusta tanto viajar es porque por unos días tenemos la oportunidad de salir de la rutina. Pero esto va más allá todavía, la palabra “rutina” se queda corta, lo que queremos es descontextualizarnos, queremos asombrarnos, poder apreciar, ver algo nunca antes visto, desfamiliarizarnos de nuestra vida por un rato. Cuando viajamos, dejamos todo lo que conocemos atrás y nos adentramos a un mundo repleto de posibilidades. Nos exponemos a nuevas lenguas, a nuevas culturas y por lo tanto, a nuevas formas de ser. Al encontrarnos en un lugar distinto entramos en un estado de fluidez, somos más abiertos a probar nuevas cosas, dejamos los prejuicios de un lado y derrumbamos las barreras de la mente adulta. Despierta nuestra curiosidad, la introspección, contemplamos la vida sin el filtro que nos ponemos a diario. Viajar es ver el mundo de manera distinta. Viajar, altera nuestros estados de consciencia. Viajar, es medicina existencial.

he reason why we like so much to travel is because for a few days we have the opportunity to get out of the routine. But this goes beyond that, the word “routine” falls short, what we want is to decontextualize ourselves, we want to feel astonished, be able to appreciate, to see something never seen before, defamiliarize ourselves from our lives for a while. When we travel, we leave behind everything we know and get into a world full of possibilities. We expose ourselves to new languages, to new cultures, therefore, to new ways of being. By finding ourselves in a different place, we get into a state of fluency, we’re more open to try new things, we leave the prejudices aside and we break down the barriers of adult mind. It arouses our curiosity, the introspection, we contemplate life without the filter we put ourselves daily. Traveling is to see the world in a different way. Traveling, alters our states of consciousness. Traveling is an existential medicine. Noviembre 2016

he music that touches our soul and leads to melancholy, why do we like it so much? What kind of perverse pleasure do we get from the nostalgia?. Melancholic music is therapeutic, it is a cathartic experience, that allows us to liberate our feelings, that of one way or another, would turn us crazy.

We are full of pain and we’re very good repressing it. We all have suffered along the way, it is called being alive, it’s called falling in love and have a broken heart, it’s called falling down and then getting up.
La música melancólica es terapéutica, es una experiencia catártica, que nos permite liberar nuestros sentimientos, que de una u otra forma nos volverían locos. Estamos llenos de dolor y somos muy buenos reprimiéndolo. Todos hemos sufrido a lo largo del camino, se llama estar vivo, se llama enamorarse y quedar con el corazón hecho pedazos, se llama caerse y luego levantarse.
Somehow or other, we bear this pain. Some people become artists, other musicians, poets, even great businessmen who want to change the world. All we need is a beautiful song that makes us cry and makes a space to our pain, in order to go ahead.
a música que toca nuestra alma e induce a la melancolía, ¿por qué nos gusta tanto? ¿Qué clase de placer perverso obtenemos de la nostalgia?.
De alguna u otra forma cargamos con este dolor. Algunos se vuelven artistas, otros músicos, poetas, incluso grandes empresarios que quieren cambiar al mundo. Todo lo que necesitamos es una hermosa canción que nos haga llorar y que le haga un espacio a nuestro dolor, para poder seguir adelante. 06

stamos en la era de las redes sociales y tenemos la capacidad de controlar e incluso construir la manera en que las otras personas nos perciben. ¿Por qué lo hacemos? Esto amerita un serio cuestionamiento de nuestra identidad y de nuestra autenticidad.
We are in the era of social networks and we have the capacity to control and even build the way other people perceive us. Why do we do it? This deserve a serious questioning of our identity and our authenticity.

En 1902, el sociólogo Charles Cooley definió la identidad como un constructo basado en la interacción con los demás y en la manera en que estos nos perciben. En pocas palabras, jugamos el papel de lo que los otros piensan que somos. La identidad es un acto fluido de improvisación y nunca ha sido algo sólido y estable como nos gustaría creer. Al final del día, no somos quienes creemos ser, somos quien creemos que otros creen que somos.

Identity is a fluid act of improvisation and never has been something solid and stable as we would like to think. At the end of the day, we are not who we think we are, we are who we believe others believe we are.
