The Coming to the Front Poster Series highlights some of the most phenomenal Black women from the 19th & 20th centuries who strongly advocated for the voting rights of Black women.
The series introduces women such as Francis “Fannie” Barrier Williams, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Dr. Anna Julia Cooper, and Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin. These women were among many other Black women from the time who worked to progress African-Americans in society, in education and, in life.
They were abolitionists, publishers, founders of powerful organizations, and educators. They were also the suffragettes that were left out of history. They stood for women’s rights, Black women’s rights, human rights, equality and justice.
The Coming to the Front Poster Series is great for classrooms, homeschools and for the homes of parents who work closely with their children and who seek to give them a fuller historical context and a sense of the greatness of Black women.
