HOWDEN THOMASSEN COMPRESSORS, FORMERLY THOMASSEN COMPRESSION SYSTEMS, WAS ESTABLISCHED IN 1906 AND IS TODAY A MAJOR FORCE IN THE MANUFACTURING OF LARGE CAPACITY PISTON COMPRESSORS. THE COMPANY DESIGNED BUILT AND INSTALLED A PISTON COMPRESSOR THAT, AT 13MW, IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST

In 2011 Thomassen Compression Systems became part of the Howden Compressor division of Howden Group, world leaders in engineering and supplying air and gas handling installations. Together the Howden Compressor Division companies have supplied more than 50,000 compressors worldwide over a period of more than 100 years, and today have compressors installed in the world’s most demanding and process-critical operating environments. Howden is a part of the Colfax Corporation.

Thomassen high power C-Series heavy duty reciprocating compressors, covering a range from one to 24.8MW, are designed for the most challenging demands of process-critical applications. This series offers significant advantages in operating costs and reliability in the oil & gas, petrochemical and refining industries.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS COURSES Howden Thomassen Compressors (HTC) has concentrated on designing and manufacturing reciprocating compressors for more than 100 years. The research and development in this field has continued and progressed over the years. Modern reciprocating compressors are equipped with many monitoring and protection devices and often with automatic controls. Internal critical connections are realized with hydraulic tools. Condition Monitoring systems are used frequently to evaluate the machine during operation. The latest Howden Thomassen Compressors innovations are the designed Free Floating Piston, the analogue controlled hydraulic clearance pocket, the condition monitoring system and the Howden Thomassen Compressors maintenance philosophy. The compressor itself is constructed within close tolerances. The reciprocating compressor is in many processes an essential machine.

COURSE GOAL

INSTRUCTORS

In order to be able to evaluate possible problems in an early stage during installation, start-up or operation, the user should have a thorough understanding of compressor behaviour and of control and protection systems. Also the phenomena of liquid formation and compressor behaviour at changing process conditions should be fully understood. Therefore proper understanding of how to operate and maintain the unit are essential for trouble free performance.

The course is conducted by an English as well as Dutch-speaking instructor of the Howden Thomassen Compressors Training Department. They are full time professionals with long-standing experience in compressor design, operation, control and maintenance of reciprocating machinery.

Howden Thomassen Compressors offers a course on Reciprocating Compressors in which principles, construction, operation, control, condition monitoring and maintenance are explained.

Each trainee will receive a course instruction and reference manual (over 400 pages) in English, covering all subjects of the training course. The manual also contains reference material for further personal studies. At conclusion of the course, each participant will receive a digital copy of all course documents and a course certificate.

The course is complete in itself. The attached programme(s) provides detailed information regarding the course content, dates, locations and prices.
