Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Crime & Delinquency Studies
ANNUAL NEWSLETTER Message From The Department 2017-2018 Welcome to the 2017-2018 edition of our newsletter! This was a very productive year, and we are excited to share some of the highlights in this newsletter. The department continues to be an exciting and vibrant place to learn, teach, and serve. We have adopted a new mission statement for the department: “To prepare students as agents of social change. This statement captures the essence of what we do and what we aspire our Sociology and CDS majors to become. It also reflects our commitment to promoting innovative teaching, engaging research, and community service. As this newsletter shows, our programs provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills by engaging in learning projects and opportunities outside of the classroom. We hope that you enjoy reading more about our students and staff in this newsletter. You will also learn about two notable recent alumni, Dena Russell and Jeremy Walter, who currently occupy leadership positions and are agents of social change! Thank you for your continued support and assistance, and we very much look forward to hearing from you!
