he Passport to Paris exhibit took place at the Denver Art Museum on February 9th.

The exhibit showcased the evolution of art within society from the 16th century into the 19th century.

The exhibit was very similar to present day, changing the norms of art imitating life. Passport to Paris featured art that demonstrated the transition of society, change in economic themes, and individual expression. In James Jacques Joseph Tissot’s “The Fan” 1875 (Oil on Canvas 15-1/8x20-1/8 in Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, The Gallup Sumner and Mary Catlin Sumner Collection Fund), we see a fashionable young woman surrounded by plants seated comfortably on a chair holding a fan.

The Court to Café exhibit features actual dresses worn by women during that time. A white and black striped leg o’ mutton sleeved, two-tiered cotton dress, is paired with a black fascinator hat and umbrella. A modest, yet elegant, cream sweatheart neckline, empire waist gown is also featured in the Court to Café exhibit. Transitioning from good times, we then see a decline in Henri de ToulouseLautrec’s Jane Avril Leaving the Moulin Rouge 1892(Essence on Board: 33-3/4x 27-1/2in Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art; Bequest of George Gay). A woman is shown wearing an understated blue peacoat and basic blue dress. The mood is somber but the art is real and captures the woman’s true emotion. The artwork in the Passport to Paris also featured various pieces with additional themes of love, joy, and the simplicity of life. Claude Monet’s, The Beach at Trouville (1870), depicts a city on the beach on a beautiful day. The beauty of nature in the piece acts as a focal point and shares with the viewer that no matter what is going on, the beauty of life is always free.

She was chosen from nearly 100,000 entries for the reality show and has had a two-part, prime-time interview discussing the importance of not judging a book by its cover. She is Denver's hot reality star - Miss Ashley Harper!

A national Beauty Queen since age five, classically trained dancer since age four, professional model since age eight, and professional vocalist since age nine, Ashley is a former Miss Southern Colorado, Top 10 Miss Colorado America Finalist, won the Swimsuit Competition, Photogenic Competition, and Interview Competition at Miss Colorado, USA. She is a non-profit co-founder and VicePresident of L.O.C.A.L. (Local Organic Community Awareness Lounge), a motivational speaker, mentor, and leader here in the Denver Metro area to aspiring inner-city youth who want to pursue a career in all things performance.

Ashley has worked with many television networks and is currently in the production stages of her own network reality television show, "The Ashley Show." Ashley is also a professional special event and occasion hair and make-up artist in the Denver Metro Area. Fitness Competitors, television commercials, and fashion shows have helped Ashley become an award-winning make-up artist!

emerging fashion design stars put the spotlight in Fort Collins, Colorado. The students of Colorado State University‘s Department of Design and Merchandising College of Health and Human Services, executed a successful, exciting and visually stunning fashion show. By collaborating with Aspen Pointe, a charity that works to rehabilitate Veterans, the designers were able to incorporate several parachute-inspired garments seen throughout the entire show. The fashion show was a grand production with four theatrical stage segments conveying an overall theme of “Rendering Reality.” The stage segments included gigantic life-size colorful flowers, bright colorful gumball balloons, mountains with the use of stage light and the final stage set had oversized books with lights.

The debuting look within the gigantic flower segment is a seethrough, long-sleeve high-slit, black lace parachute gown; that had lavender-violet appliqué running down the side. Additional looks included a black appliqué bolero-kini, paired with a black floor-length parachute skirt and matching appliqué belt. The flower segment collection also featured a gentleman wearing a light grey button-down dress shirt, accessorized with a red velvet corset-inspired get-up paired with slacks. Additional featured looks within the flower segment included a décolletage textured white sleeveless gown, with a unique design and elongating train.

Rounding out the final looks for the collection include a black and royal blue furry halter gown designed with an oversized silk bow and slanted asymmetric bottom; and a gold and black gown with a sheer opening exposing a black sequin bra, along with a long-sleeve black and teal patterned empire waist gown and tie-died denim, floor-length dress.

Moving onto the second segment, we see colorful giant balloon gumdrops. The garments took on a gypsy theme as the opening look was a red velvet, sleeveless shirt with accent scarf, worn with grey, kitty-whisker embellished shorts. Additional looks include a flowing cream belle sleeve romper dress, with a grey-silk pattern throughout the torso; and a black petal pusher tuxedo pantsuit with an elongated orange dress-shirt. A cream fringe crochetwoven halter top with a red rose in the center was paired with a festive red and green skirt. The third stage set featured mountains with the use of light. The opening look was a futuristic multi-colored mauve long-sleeve pleated parachute gown. Also, a trekker-inspired purple velvet cape dress, styled with purple stockings and brown oxfords.

The final collection featured oversized books and stage lights.

The opening look was a sleeveless, white portrait-collared middrift, accented with a white flowy tennis skirt. Also seen within the books and light collection, was a sheer black halter floor-length gown with alternating silk and satin fabric stripes. A multi-fabric quilt-like black and gold body suit, paired with stockings and a gold zipper down the center, a red blazer paired with white pants, and a black dress shirt stole the show. The last look within the books and light collection featured a flowing loose-fitting earthy green sweater, paired with tan harem pants. During the grand finale collection of the “Rendering Reality” fashion show, the designers featured a series of tan and cream cut-out geometric leather chiffon gowns played up with intricate details and tailoring.

f you’re like me, chances are you don’t like the way your body looks and maybe never have. I have always had body problems, whether it was being curvier than most or being too skinny! A few months ago, I met an amazing life-changing woman who has boosted my confidence to a whole new level! Her name is Hi-D. I am a firm believer that people come into our lives for a reason and I think Hi-D was brought to me to help me better my body and my life as a whole.

Hi-D introduced me to a company called ItWorks!
