About In Good Taste
The Dempsey Center's In Good Taste series was crafted in early 2021 as an outreach, educational, and fundraising opportunity for the Dempsey Center. The series focuses on connecting the dots between delicious culinary experiences and the importance of nutrition in navigating or preventing a cancer diagnosis. In May 2022, the first large-scale In Good Taste event took place at Grace in Portland, ME. The second annual gala was held in June 2023 at The Landing at Pine Point in Scarborough, ME For both events, over 200 guests enjoyed a unique culinary event at the intersection of Chopped and Inside the Actors Studio. Guests were guided through a five-course gastronomic delight curated by different, prominent Portland-area chefs with a formal speaking program featuring an interview between Founder Patrick Dempsey and current Dempsey Center clients. This innovative evening brought folks together, 'round the proverbial dinner table, to help make life better for people impacted by cancer.
