it der Wintersaison beginnt für viele Unternehmer auf Mallorca eine kurze Erholungspause, bevor um Ostern mit Millionen von Reisenden das Geschäft wieder auf Hochtouren läuft. Das DELUXE-Team entschied sich daher diesmal für eine Sonderedition im neuen Look, die der ruhigeren Jahreszeit angemessen ist, aber dennoch ihre schönsten Facetten vorstellt. Denn die Jahreswende auf der Insel zählt etliche sehenswerte Erlebnisse wie beispielsweise den Nachmittag Ende November, wenn in Palma de Mallorca die Weihnachtsbeleuchtung erstmals eingeschaltet wird. Ein Moment, für den wir als Standort den Paseo Borne empfehlen: Bei meist milden Temperaturen sitzt man draußen im Café Borne 8, vis-à-vis dem Louis Vuitton Showroom mit immer kreativer Schaufensterdekoration, und wartet darauf, dass der Weihnachtsstern über dem großen Brunnen erstrahlt, um dann zwischen JugendstilPalästen und mittelalterlichen Mauern kleine Boutiquen und traditionelle Feinkostläden zu erkunden. or many business people in Mallorca, the winter season means a short break before the millions of travellers who arrive at Easter bring business back into full swing once more. So this time the Deluxe team has decided on a new-look special edition, appropriate to this quieter time of year, yet one that still shows the very best of the season. As the year draws to a close, the Island has a whole host of wonderful things to experience, like the afternoon at the end of November when the Christmas lights are switched on in Palma de Mallorca. To make the most of it, we suggest positioning yourself on Paseo Borne. The temperature is usually mild enough to sit outside café Borne 8, opposite the Louis Vuitton showroom with its ever more creative window displays, and wait until the Christmas star over the large fountain is lit. Then it is time to explore the small boutiques and traditional delicatessens between the Art Nouveau town houses and the medieval walls. On the eve of St Nicholas, 5th December, Puerto Portals is the place to be. Its idyllic Christmas Market is a stylish place to meet friends for the first mulled wine of the year, to shop for gifts and to taste the gourmet cuisine of the local restaurants. For Christmas and New Year’s Eve, hotels and restaurants organise elegant dinners, and New Year’s Day is usually celebrated outdoors with a brunch under cloudless skies and in spring-like temperatures. On the evening of Reyes Magos (12th Night), the Portals Hills Boutique Hotel will be only one of many planning treats for the children. And at the end of January, Palma will once again be celebrating the Feast of San Sebastián with a colourful folk festival. As you can see, there is a lot to see, and not just in the pages of our magazine.

Christmas markets in Puerto Portals and Palma 6th December 2015 – 6th January 2016 The attractive Christmas market in Puerto Portals opens on 6th December with the St. Nicholas Parade and is open every afternoon until the Three Kings Parade on 6th January. The Christmas market at Nuevo Pueblo Español, which runs for a few days in mid-December, is also to be recommended. 6. Dezember 2015 – 6. Januar 2016 Mit dem Umzug des Sankt Nikolaus beginnt der gemütliche Weihnachtsmarkt in Puerto Portals, der bis zum Tag der Heiligen Drei Könige am 6. Januar jeden Nachmittag geöffnet ist. Ebenfalls zu empfehlen ist der Christkindlmarkt im Nuevo Pueblo Español, der nur wenige Tage Mitte Dezember öffnet.

the three Kings in Mallorca 5th January 2016 On Tuesday 5th January, Three Kings Parades can be seen in many towns and villages around the Island. The largest parade takes place in Palma in the early evening. It starts at Moll Vell, where the Kings arrive by boat to distribute sweets to the children. According to Spanish tradition it is Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar who bring presents at Christmas time and not Santa Claus, as in the United Kingdom and America. 6th January is a public holiday. 5. Januar 2016 Am Dienstag, den 5. Januar sieht man die Heiligen Drei Könige in vielen Orten auf der Insel bei ihren Umzügen. Der größte findet am frühen Abend in Palma statt. Beginn ist an der Moll Vell, wo die Könige mit ihrem Schiff anlegen, um dann Süßigkeiten für die Kinder zu verteilen. Nach spanischer Tradition bringen Caspar, Melchior und Balthasar die Geschenke in der Weihnachtszeit, nicht das Christkind, wie es in Deutschland üblich ist. Der 6. Januar ist ein gesetzlicher Feiertag.

16th January 2016 On the evening before ‘Sant Antoni’ (a local holiday to celebrate the patron saint of animals) many towns and villages light bonfires and demons (dimonis) dance through the narrow streets on ‘correfocs’ (fire runs). At the end, St Anthony banishes the bad spirits. On 17th January, many churches hold services at which they bless animals. Farmers bring cows, goats and sheep, and children bring their dogs, cats and hamsters. The first festival of ‘Sant Antoni’ is said to have taken place in Sa Pobla in 1365.
18th January – 11th February 2016 The Fundamentals of Mediterranean Vegan Cuisine is both a Vegan Culinary Academy and an English language training programme for employing your skills in a restaurant, hotel, catering or kitchen environment. Daily sessions feature handson training and lectures by guest speakers from different European countries who specialise in vegan cuisine. Januar 2016 In Palma und vielen weiteren Ortschaften werden am Vorabend von „Sant Antoni” (nationaler Feiertag zu Ehren von Sankt Antonius, dem Schutzpatron der Haus- und Nutztiere) Fogeros gezündet und Dimonis tanzen beim Correfoc durch die Gassen. Zum Schluss vertreibt der Heilige Antonius die bösen Mächte. Am 17. Januar finden in vielen Kirchen Tiersegnungen statt. Bauern führen Kühe, Ziegen und Schafe vor, Kinder bringen ihre Hunde, Katzen oder Goldhamster. Das erste Antoniusfest soll 1365 in Sa Pobla stattgefunden haben.
18. Januar – 11. Februar 2016 Die Grundlagen der mediterranen Vegan-Küche unterrichten sowohl die Vegan Culinary Academy als auch ein englischsprachiges Trainingsprogramm, das Sie auf die Arbeit in einem Restaurant, in der Hotellerie oder Gastronomie vorbereitet. 8th – 9th February 2016 Sa Rua and Sa Rueta are two street carnivals that take place over a weekend in Palma de Mallorca with a procession of floats and parties of people, all in fancy dress. Sa Rueta on Saturday is the children’s parade. Sa Rua for adults is held on the Sunday. There are prizes for the best costumes and the procession will march down Avendida Jaime III onto Passeig del Born, then on to Plaza Joan Carles and Carrer Unió. Son Net Tree House, Puigpunyent This 17th century estate is one of the Island’s luxury rural hotels. “Up close to the designer” At home with one of Germany’s most successful fashion designers, Thomas Rath. For the past six months he has spent his leisure time with husband Sandro above Port Andratx, with 180-degree views of the marina.

The two-storey home is elegantly furnished and has cosy corners to hide-away in. The highlight is the roof terrace that the designer sometimes uses as a studio. Here he paints the landscape as miniatures, which he finds wonderfully relaxing. “Here in Mallorca, it’s just us and we really enjoy that.” Thomas’s mother has lived on the Island for four decades, as has her sister – both in Portals Nous – and his cousin is well known here for his two multi-label boutiques. When we arrive, the DELUXE team is served chocolate cake. The atmosphere is very cheerful. Thomas and Sandro have lived together in harmony for the past twenty years, despite the fact that they live and work together. Sandro is responsible for the fashion empire’s marketing. You describe your Thomas Rath collection as semi-couture. What can we expect for 2016 in terms of fashion? Thomas Rath: We have just shown the new spring collection for 2016. The theme is ‘Allez à la plage!’, a collection of Riviera looks from the 1950s, with feminine tailoring and colourful prints. Very feminine. For the past few years we have held our shows in Düsseldorf. We no longer take part in the circus that is Berlin Fashion Week. The way up-and-coming designers are paraded there, without any real chance of success is not pretty. The industry itself is hardly represented, but it is there that young talent has to be seen in order to get on. I am a European Design Ambassador for Germany and I have just made space in my showroom on Kaiserswerther Strasse in Düsseldorf for the young shoe label Serfan, so that Serhat Yilmaz can get to know our clients and is able establish new business contacts. You show your Thomas Rath Semi-Couture collection on the cruise ships Europa 1 and 2. Sandro Rath: This year once again we will be cruising on MS Europa 1 and 2. Thomas does the shows and readings on board. The onboard boutique is a sensation. The customers love being up close to the designer and at last having the chance to see the whole collection in one place. We have already selected the routes, and we are looking forward to autumn in Paraguay and Mexico, and the magic of India, Goa and Manila. And at the end of 2016, we will once again be joining the December cruise on Europa 1. For the past two years you have also produced a collection of men’s fashion. Thomas Rath: Yes, that’s quite a different market but the collection has grown a lot. We design clothes for sporty, modern 35 to 50-year-old men who feel comfortable in a shirt, waistcoat and jacket. There is also talk of a new cosmetic range you are bringing out in 2016. Sandro Rath: Special ingredients have been developed exclusively for the new Thomas Rath cosmetic range that deliberately relax the skin, and in doing so make it look younger. This ingredient has been added to cosmetics such as foundation and eye-shadows so that the customer is slowly introduced to it. And then
later this ingredient will be added to the skin care range. It is a new form of hyaluronic acid. The range has been designed in cooperation with one of Germany’s largest cosmetic companies that primarily supplies beauticians, so it relies on being really effective and not on its image. The company sells to 26 countries throughout the world and to 6,000 beauty salons. Thomas Rath cosmetics are also sold on QVC. Thomas Rath: We have worked with QVC ever since ‘Germany’s Topmodel’ has been on our screens. For our range of cosmetics we are using the most up-to-date ingredients that the industry knows. Hyaluronic acid is now something that everyone can pronounce: it is a dream, but the skin finds it difficult to absorb. Saccharification of the skin prevents hyaluronic acid from penetrating the deeper layers of the skin. Detoxing removes sugar from the skin allowing the hyaluronic acid to plump it up from below. This is what is new about Thomas Rath cosmetics. Everyone wants skin like a baby. With all these projects, do you still have time for a private life? Sandro Rath: Yes, we both like to come to the Island for a few of days of peace and quiet. And when we’re here Thomas loves to paint and cook. Thomas Rath: When I cook, I’m relatively fast. I love using spices so it will always taste delicious and aromatic. You can come to me today and say you fancy Thai food, and you get Thai food. If you want Indian food, that’s what I’ll make, or perhaps you’d prefer a roulade or even goulash. Whatever you like. I do it all with passion. Everyone in my family cooks well. Really we ought to open a restaurant together. Ideally in Mallorca. I’m always cooking. In Düsseldorf I sometimes cook at the Breidenbacher Hof. It has a Thomas Rath menu. There I even make my own pasta. I lived in Italy for a long time, in Modena. While we were discussing their favourite restaurants, we came up with the idea of an evening at That’s Amore in Port Andratx, with a menu by Thomas Rath. We look forward to it becoming reality.

Das zweigeschossige Domizil ist elegant eingerichtet und bietet gemütliche Ecken zum Zurückziehen. Highlight ist die Dachterrasse, die dem Designer manchmal als Atelier dient. Hier malt er die Landschaft als Miniaturen – und schaltet dabei wunderbar ab. „Auf Mallorca sind wir ganz für uns und genießen das sehr.” Thomas’ Mutter lebt seit vier Jahrzehnten auf der Insel, ebenso wie ihre Schwester – beide bis heute in Portals Nous –, ein Cousin ist hier bekannt für zwei Multi-Label-Boutiquen. Zur Begrüßung im neuen Heim des Designers wird dem DELUXE-Team Kuchen serviert. Die Stimmung ist heiter. Die Harmonie zwischen Thomas und Sandro hält bereits seit zwanzig Jahren, und das, obwohl sie Beruf und Privates miteinander verbinden. Sandro kümmert sich ums Marketing im Modeimperium. Das Thema heißt „Allez à la plage!“, eine Inszenierung des Riviera-Feelings der 50er Jahre mit femininen Schnitten und farbigen Prints. Sehr feminin. Unsere Schauen finden seit einigen Jahren in Düsseldorf statt, wir machen den Zirkus der Fashion Week in Berlin nicht mehr mit. Wie der Nachwuchs dort vorgeführt wird, ohne echte Chancen auf Erfolg, das ist unschön. Die Industrie ist kaum vertreten, aber genau da müssen junge Talente platziert werden, um voranzukommen. Ich bin selbst europäischer Design-Botschafter für Deutschland und habe dem jungen Schuhlabel Serfan gerade einen Platz in meinem Showroom auf der Kaiserswerther Straße eingeräumt, damit Serhat Yilmaz unsere Kunden kennenlernt und neue Geschäftskontakte aufbauen kann. Thomas Rath Semi-Couture zeigen Sie auch auf Kreuzfahrten der Europa 1 und 2. Sandro Rath: Auch im neuen Jahr werden wir wieder mit der MS Europa 1 und 2 unterwegs sein. Thomas macht die Schauen und Lesungen an Bord. Der Bordshop ist eine Sensation. Die Kundinnen freuen sich, nah am Designer zu sein und endlich einmal die ganze Kollektion an einem Platz zu bekommen. Wir haben die Routen schon ausgesucht und freuen uns auf den Herbst in Paraguay und Mexiko, zauberhaftes Indien, Goa und Manila. Und Ende 2016 werden wir wieder die Dezemberreise auf der Europa 1 mitmachen. Seit zwei Jahren zeigen Sie auch Herrenmode. Thomas Rath: Ja, aber das ist ein anderer Markt, die Kollektion ist sehr erwachsen. Wir zeigen Looks für sportliche und moderne 35- bis 50-Jährige, die sich in Hemd, Weste und Sakko wohlfühlen. Zudem hört man von einer neuen Kosmetiklinie, die Sie 2016 auf den Markt bringen werden. Sandro Rath: Speziell für die neue Thomas Rath Kosmetiklinie wurden besondere Wirkstoffe entwickelt, die die Haut ganz bewusst entspannen und dadurch eine Verjüngung hervorrufen. Der Wirkstoff wird
eingebaut in dekorative Kosmetik, zum Beispiel in Make-up und Farben, so dass die Kundin langsam herangeführt wird. Es handelt sich um eine neue Form des Hyalurons. Die Serie entstand in Kooperation mit einem der größten Kosmetik-Konzerne Deutschlands, die primär die Fachkosmetikerin bedienen, also von der Basis kommen, nicht vom Image. Die Firma vertreibt in insgesamt 26 Länder weltweit und dort in 6.000 Kosmetikinstitute. Thomas Rath Kosmetik wird unter anderem über QVC angeboten. Thomas Rath: Die Zusammenarbeit mit QVC besteht seit der Ausstrahlung von Germany’s Next Topmodel. Wir verwenden für die Kosmetiklinie die neuesten Wirkstoffe, die die Branche derzeit kennt. Hyaluron kann ja mittlerweile jeder aussprechen, das ist ein Traum, nur kann die Haut es nicht gut aufnehmen. Die Haut ist verzuckert, daher dringt das Hyaluron nicht in die tieferen Hautschichten. Detoxing befreit die Haut vom Zucker, und dann kann das Hyaluron sie von unten aufpolstern. Das ist das Neue an der Thomas Rath Kosmetik. Jeder will doch Babyhaut. Bleibt bei all diesen Projekten Zeit für Privates? Sandro Rath: Ja, wir kommen gerne für ein paar Tage Ruhe auf die Insel. Thomas malt und kocht hier leidenschaftlich gerne. Thomas Rath: Beim Kochen bin ich relativ schnell, ich würze sehr gerne, es wird also immer lecker und aromatisch schmecken. Du kannst heute zu mir kommen und sagen, du möchtest Thai, dann bekommst du Thai, möchtest du indisch, bekommst du das, oder lieber eine Roulade oder Gulasch? Whatever you like. Ich mache das aus Passion. In meiner Familie haben alle gut gekocht. Eigentlich müssten wir ein Restaurant aufmachen. Am liebsten auf Mallorca. Ich koche immer. In Düsseldorf manchmal sogar im Breidenbacher Hof. Da gibt es Thomas Rath Menüs. Dafür mache ich sogar die Nudeln selbst. Ich habe ja lange in Italien gelebt, in Modena. “When I’m playing Werther I can pull out all the stops”

André Eisermann, born into a fairground family in 1967, grew up between the carousels and the ghost train. In his early twenties he embarked on a classical acting career and came to world fame though award-winning films such as ‘Brother of Sleep’ (1995). Today he finds the time for his own work in his adopted home, Mallorca.
Herr Eisermann, what makes Goethe’s ‘Werther’ relevant to today’s audience? You are still touring with this piece. Yes, for many years now, and the performances are well attended. But some things have changed. When we started in 1999 to celebrate Goethe’s 250th birthday, young people paid more attention – perhaps because they didn’t have Facebook then. So my pianist Jakob Vinje and I had to come up with something. It is a literary show in which I can pull out all the stops as an actor. Then I find young audiences sit there open-mouthed, and they can’t quite believe that they are listening to Goethe. Goethe was 21 when he wrote ‘Werther’, and he describes emotions that never grow old. The subjects you select are very German: Goethe, ‘Kaspar Hauser’, the hit film ‘Brother of Sleep’, the Nibelungen Festival in your home town of Worms... The work I get involved with does not come about by chance. I do not believe in coincidences. In life it is more about perception. Very early on, when I realised I had to be an actor, I found it remarkable that the projects that came my way always seemed to have something to do with our history, subjects that are educational and not just pure entertainment. Like ‘Kaspar Hauser’ for instance who after twelve years in a darkened cell was suddenly thrust into the world and seduced by material things. Kaspar Hauser was more than just a child, he was – as described by Feuerbach – like the first human being before the Fall: the film is about a “Crime against the spiritual life of a human being.” How do you explain your passion for the theatre? My decision to become an actor was connected with wanting to appear before an audience. With film it is all quite different, in fact being a movie actor is an entirely different job. There you can repeat scenes, and to a certain
extent the film is made in the editing suite, but theatre exists in the here and now. Movie actors sometimes only have to think about their parts. But actors in the theatre have to technically master them. You are well known for your meticulous preparation for your roles. To play Elias Alder in ‘Brother of Sleep’ you lost a lot of weight. In his novel Robert Schneider describes Johannes Elias Adler as someone who was “almost skin and bone”. That was a point of reference I wanted to do justice to. I visited the Austrian organ builder Rieger Orgelbau to see how an organ is constructed and repaired,

and I got to know more about the instrument at the University of Music in Munich. I think you have to do this sort of thing if in a film you are playing an extremely talented organist. Who is your greatest role model? For me the greatest and best actress of our time, indeed for all time, is Meryl Streep.
Because she is completely believable, right down to the tiniest details. Have you had any offers from Hollywood? I appeared in a film directed by Percy Adlon in Los Angeles called ‘Hawaiian Gardens’. I spent four months filming in Los Angeles and met a great many people as a result of the Golden Globe nomination for ‘Brother of Sleep’. But my English wasn’t as good then as it is now and to be honest I was very glad to get back to Germany again. I’m a European. Mallorca, your second home, is also in Europe... Mallorca for me is somewhere to relax. I like the Island. When I drive along the coast road and reach Valldemossa, where Chopin and George Sand spent a winter, then I too feel the cultural depth of Mallorca. I also like Santany and the whole of the south-east. Sometimes I have a proper holiday somewhere else on the Island and stay for a couple of days. Do you also prepare for future roles when you are here? Naturally I work now and then. Learn scripts or write, mostly from 5 o’clock before daybreak. I am currently working on a script about multiple personalities. People exist who have split themselves into 24 different personalities, each of whom is oblivious to all the others. It is a crazy topic and I have used it for a criminal case. Where do you escape to? Well, there is a small restaurant in Camp de Mar in Mallorca in the middle of the bay reached by a landing stage. Sometimes I eat paella there and drink sangria, and when at about 7.30 in the evening you see the sun reflected in the Mediterranean Sea, it is the most beautiful place in the world. Mit Anfang 20 schlug er eine klassische Schauspielkarriere ein und wurde durch preisgekrönte Filme wie „Schlafes Bruder“ (1995) weltberühmt. Muße für eigene Arbeiten findet er heute in seiner Wahlheimat Mallorca.

Herr Eisermann, was macht Goethes „Werther“ so aktuell? Sie sind mit diesem Text noch immer auf Tour. Ja, schon seit vielen Jahren, und die Veranstaltungen sind gut besucht. Aber es hat sich etwas verändert: Als wir im Goethejahr 1999 anfingen, hatten die jungen Leute noch etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit – vielleicht, weil es noch kein Facebook gab. Also müssen mein Pianist Jakob Vinje und ich uns etwas einfallen lassen. Es ist eine Literatur-Show. In der kann ich als Schauspieler alle Register ziehen, und dann sitzen die Jungen mit offenen Mündern da und können nicht fassen, dass das Goethe ist. Goethe war 21, als er den „Werther“ schrieb, und er beschrieb Gefühle, die nie alt werden. Sie stehen für deutsche Themen: Goethe, „Kaspar Hauser“, den Erfolgsfilm „Schlafes Bruder“, die Nibelungen-Festspiele in Ihrer Heimat Worms … Die Stoffe, mit denen ich mich beschäftige, fallen mir nicht umsonst zu. Ich glaube auch nicht an Zufälle. Es geht im Leben eher um die Wahrnehmung. Und so, wie ich sehr früh wahrgenommen habe, Schauspieler werden zu müssen, fand ich es immer schon bemerkenswert, dass mir Projekte zufallen, die etwas mit unserer Geschichte zu tun haben, Themen, die die Menschen bilden und nicht bloß unterhalten. Wie damals bei „Kaspar Hauser“, der nach zwölfjährigem Aufenthalt in einem Kerker plötzlich die Welt betritt und durch materielle Dinge verführt wird. Kaspar Hauser war mehr als nur ein Kind, er war – so, wie ihn Feuerbach beschrieben hat – wie der erste Mensch vor dem Sündenfall, der Stoff steht für das „Verbrechen am Seelenleben eines Menschen“.

Wie erklärt sich Ihre Hinwendung zum Theater? Die Entscheidung, Schauspieler zu werden, hing doch auch damit zusammen, vor einem Publikum stehen zu wollen. Beim Film geht es insgesamt etwas anders zu, im Grunde ist Filmschauspieler sogar ein anderer Beruf. Dort kann man Szenen wiederholen, der Film entsteht gewissermaßen am Schneidetisch, aber das Theater entsteht im Augenblick. Der Filmschauspieler muss seine Rolle manchmal nur denken. Der Schauspieler am Theater muss sie auch handwerklich bewältigen können. Sie sind bekannt dafür, dass Sie sich auf Ihre Rollen akribisch vorbereiten. Für Elias Alder aus „Schlafes Bruder“ hatten Sie drastisch abgenommen. Robert Schneider beschreibt den Johannes Elias Alder in seinem Roman als jemanden, „der fast vom Fleisch fällt“. Das ist für mich ein Anhaltspunkt, dem ich gerecht werden möchte. Ich habe beim österreichischen Orgelbauer Rieger
gesehen, wie eine Orgel gebaut und repariert wird, und an der Musikhochschule in München das Instrument etwas kennengelernt. Das sollte man aber auch tun, finde ich, wenn man im Film ein musikalisches Genie an der Orgel verkörpern muss. Wer ist Ihr besonderes Vorbild? Die größte und beste Schauspielerin unserer Zeit und auch in aller Zukunft ist für mich Meryl Streep. Denn sie ist auch in den allerkleinsten Details durch und durch glaubhaft. Gab es mal Angebote aus Hollywood? Percy Adlon drehte mit mir in Los Angeles den Film „Hawaiian Gardens“. Für den Dreh war ich vier Monate in Los Angeles und habe, auch infolge der Golden-Globe-Nominierung von „Schlafes Bruder“, eine Menge Leute kennengelernt. Aber mein Englisch war noch nicht so gut wie heute und, ehrlich gesagt, war ich auch ganz froh, als ich wieder zurück nach Deutschland kam. Ich bin Europäer. Ihr Zweitwohnsitz Mallorca ist auch Europa. Mallorca ist für mich ein Ort zum Erholen. Mir gefällt die Insel. Wenn ich die Küstenstraßen hochfahre und nach Valldemossa komme, wo Chopin und George Sand einen Winter verbrachten, dann spüre ich auch die Kulturdichte auf Mallorca. Mir gefallen auch Santanyí und der ganze Südosten. Ich mache manchmal regelrecht Urlaub an einem anderen Ort auf der Insel, wo ich ein paar Tage bleibe. Bereiten Sie sich hier auch auf künftige Rollen vor? Natürlich arbeite ich auch hin und wieder. Lerne Text oder schreibe, meist ab fünf Uhr morgens, bevor der Tag anbricht. Zurzeit arbeite ich an einem Skript zum Thema multiple Persönlichkeit. Es gibt Menschen, die haben in sich 24 unterschiedliche Persönlichkeiten aufgesplittet, die voneinander überhaupt nichts wissen. Das ist ein wahnsinniges Thema und ich habe es für einen Kriminalfall aufbereitet. Wo ist Ihr Ruhepol? Wissen Sie, in Camp de Mar auf Mallorca gibt es ein kleines Restaurant, mitten in der Bucht, mit einem Steg, der dorthin führt. Da esse ich gelegentlich meine Paella, trinke meine Sangría, und wenn dann vielleicht gegen halb acht abends die Sonne im Mittelmeer schimmert, ist das oft schöner als alles andere. Adrien Brody’s stop-over Oscar winner Adrien Brody has been seen out and about in Palma de Mallorca. Sporting a full beard and baseball cap, the American actor strolled through the narrow streets in the city centre before stopping at the small café ‘Can Frasquet’. Brody was accompanied by Domingo Zapata, an artist originally from Palma, who now lives in New York. The Mallorquin artist has already sold pictures to celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp. Zapata was exhibiting some of his work at Hotel Ushuaïa in Ibiza, which is the reason why Adrien Brody’s next stop was Mallorca’s neighbouring island. Oscar-Preisträger Adrien Brody war Ende August in Palma de Mallorca unterwegs. Mit Baseball-Cap und Vollbart schlenderte der US-Amerikaner durch die Gassen der Altstadt und machte dort auch in dem kleinen Café „Can Frasquet” auf der Plaza del Mercat Halt. Begleitet wurde der Schauspieler von Domingo Zapata, einem Künstler, der ursprünglich aus Palma stammt, mittlerweile aber in New York lebt. Schauspielkollegen wie Leonardo DiCaprio oder Johnny Depp haben bereits Bilder des Mallorquiners gekauft. Tomás, you are the son of Robert Graves – is this a burden or a responsibility? I consider my surname to be 10% a pain in the butt and 90% something to be proud and take care of. At the moment the press is filled with articles about an upcoming film. How do you feel about it? William Nunez’s project seems to be dormant until new financial backing comes through. A few years ago, when the working title was The Laureate, there was talk of Orlando Bloom playing the part of my father, but it never materialized. The working title is now Poetic Unreason and the actor James Purefoy would be playing the part of Robert. It’s a shame if it doesn’t get made because the subject matter would not only shed light on the relationship between two of the most valued poets of the last century, but also on the social and artistic reality of the interwar years, which Robert wrote about.

The critics are calling it “racy” as the film is to showcase your father’s ‘ménage à trois’? As for Robert’s ‘love triangle’, we have to remember that in the roaring twenties many social conventions were falling and women had a much stronger position than in the depression and postwar years. The triangle became a four-way relationship with the addition of another poet, who, after Laura attempted suicide, went to live with Nancy while Robert and Laura left the country.
What was the ‘real’ Robert Graves like? Whether you grow up in a circus or in an orphanage, every child feels his home is what’s normal, it’s his yardstick with which to measure the outside world. So for me a grandfatherly figure who rolled his own cigarettes, wore odd socks, wrote love poems and often forgot to do up his fly was perfectly normal. He was a very warm and generous man, to the point of having to be restrained by my mother before he gave everything away, but at the same time he could have a violent temper and be very possessive. His poetry fed on love and this was something my mother understood and respected; she knew he loved her above all else, but that he needed to be in love with the muse, whoever she might be at the time, to be able to write. I hear you are selling your historical family home in Deià. My father had been living in Deià since 1929. He bought this house from the village carpenter in the 1960s as a place to write, to store part of his library and to put up writers and artists who needed a place to live and work. I have lived here for almost 40 years, printing in the old carpentry shop and bringing up a family. Although it is a lovely and convenient place to live I no longer need so much space and so it is up for sale; I would be very happy to see it used again as a family house. „Das Haus meines Vaters ist jetzt zu groß” Tomás Graves, Sohn des Schriftstellers und Mallorca-Liebhabers Robert Graves, verkauft das Familienanwesen im Künstlerdorf Deià. Tomás, Sie sind der jüngste Sohn von Robert Graves – ist das Last oder Verantwortung? Mein Name ist zu 10 % eine nervige Belastung und zu 90 % etwas, worauf man stolz sein kann und was es wert ist, gepflegt zu werden. Die Presse spricht von einem neuen Film. Wie stehen Sie dazu? Das neue Projekt von William Nunez scheint derzeit auf Eis zu liegen, bis die finanziellen Mittel dafür aufgebracht werden. Vor einigen Jahren, als der Arbeitstitel „The Laureate” hieß, sollte Orlando Bloom die Rolle meines Vaters spielen, doch der Film wurde nie gedreht. Der neue Titel ist „Poetic Unreason” und der Schauspieler James Purefoy soll die Rolle von Robert einnehmen. Es wäre schade, wenn der Film nicht gedreht werden würde, denn das Drehbuch sieht vor, dass nicht nur die Beziehung zwischen zwei der größten Poeten des letzten Jahrhunderts thematisiert wird, sondern auch die soziale und künstlerische Realität der Jahre zwischen den zwei Weltkriegen, über die Robert schrieb.

Die Kritiker nennen das Buch „reißerisch”. Der Film soll auch die „Ménage à trois” Ihres Vaters zeigen? Nun, wenn wir uns Roberts „Liebesdreieck” ansehen, müssen wir bedenken, dass in den „Goldenen Zwanzigern” viele soziale Konventionen fielen und Frauen eine stärkere Rolle zugesprochen wurde als noch zur Depression und in der Nachkriegszeit. Aus dem Dreieck wurde eine Viererbeziehung, als ein weiterer Poet dazukam, der, nachdem Laura versucht hatte, sich das Leben zu nehmen, mit Nancy zusammenzog. Robert und Laura verließen zu dieser Zeit gerade gemeinsam das Land.
Wie erlebten Sie den „wahren” Robert Graves? Ob man in einem Zirkus oder im Waisenhaus aufwächst, jedes Kind empfindet sein Zuhause als normal, es ist sein Maßstab, um die Außenwelt zu beurteilen. Für mich war die großväterliche Figur, die ihre eigenen Zigaretten rollte und merkwürdige Socken trug, die Liebesgedichte schrieb und meist vergaß, ihre Fliege zu binden, völlig normal. Er war ein warmherziger und großzügiger Mann, der manchmal von meiner Mutter ermahnt werden musste, weil er dazu tendierte, alles wegzugeben, doch er hatte auch ein gewalttätiges Temperament und konnte sehr besitzergreifend sein. Seine Poesie lebte von der Liebe, das konnte meine Mutter verstehen und respektieren; sie wusste, er liebte sie über alles, doch er brauchte auch die Verliebtheit zu seiner Muse, wer auch immer sie gerade sein mochte, um in der Lage zu sein, schreiben zu können. Wir hören, dass Sie das Familienanwesen in Deià verkaufen möchten? Mein Vater lebte seit 1929 in Deià. Er kaufte das Haus vom örtlichen Schreiner in den 1960ern, um dort zu schreiben, seine Bibliothek aufzubewahren und um anderen Schriftstellern und Künstlern Platz zum Arbeiten gewähren zu können. Ich habe dort 40 Jahre lang gelebt, in der alten Schreinerei gedruckt und meine Kinder aufgezogen. Und obwohl es ein gemütlicher Ort zum Leben ist, brauche ich nicht mehr so viel Platz und habe es in den Verkauf gegeben. Es würde mich freuen, wenn das Haus wieder eine Familie beherbergen würde. SANDRA SEELING LIPSKI Sandra Seeling Lipski’s CV is very international. Born in 1983 in Berlin, she moved to Mallorca at the age of 9. Her leading TV roles for ProSieben and ARD came in 1999. After finishing high school Sandra moved to New York City to study at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. In 2003 she moved to Los Angeles to finish her MA in Dramatic Theatre Arts. She has played a variety of roles including in CSI NY, Brüno with Sasha Baron Cohen, and the indie drama Coyote. In 2009 she won the West Hollywood Film Festival Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Going Down. She then went back to the Los Angeles Film School and in 2011 gained a degree in Directing and Producing. Sandra launched EMIFF in 2012. s war schon immer mein Traum, etwas zu erschaffen, das ein internationales Publikum erreichen würde. Etwas, das von einem Kontinent zum anderen reichen konnte. Aufgewachsen bin ich auf Mallorca, meine Kindheit war ziemlich perfekt. Bereits im Alter von zwölf Jahren sprach ich fließend Spanisch, Deutsch und Englisch, ohne dass mir aufgefallen wäre, wie ich es gelernt hatte. Ich war eine gute Schülerin und besessen vom Ballett und vom Theater. Nachts las ich unter meiner Bettdecke mit einer Taschenlampe alte Bücher über HollywoodStars aus den 30er und 40er Jahren. Ich übte ihre Posen und stellte mir vor, wie es wäre, sie zu treffen, und was ich vielleicht sagen würde. Es mag damals albern gewesen sein, aber 15 Jahre später kam ich

Nächte ausgehalten habe, die endlosen Treffen mit Leuten, die Nein sagen, die Versuche, Geld von Sponsoren für gute Filme zu finden und sicherzustellen, dass unsere Gäste glücklich sind und wir ihnen Jahr für Jahr ein erstaunliches Programm bieten können. Und dafür zu sorgen, dass das Festival wächst, aber nicht zu schnell, genau im richtigen Maß, so dass man mithalten kann und nicht unter einem Berg aus Arbeit und Verantwortung ertrinkt. Es war hart! Aber ach, wie hat es sich gelohnt. Mein Team und ich sind stolz auf das EMIFF und wie es seinen Platz gefunden hat im alljährlichen Kulturkalender von Palma und in den Herzen unserer Gäste. In diesem Jahr hatten wir über 60 Projekte im CineCiutat, darunter Spielfilme, Kurzfilme, Dokumentationen, Musikvideos und Filme für Kinder. Es gab Gesprächsrunden für Produzenten im Es Baluard und Frühstücks-

schließlich nach Los Angeles – mit einem Koffer voller Träume und dem Ziel, es weit nach vorne zu schaffen. Aber LA kann ein einsamer Ort sein. Und obwohl ich schnell Arbeit fand in TV-Shows wie CSI NY und Filme mit Sacha Baron Cohen drehte, hatte ein Teil meines Herzens Heimweh. Ich vermisste meine Insel. Mit jedem Besuch wuchs der Wunsch, etwas Sinnvolles zu finden, das mich wieder öfter herbringen würde. Nach der Heirat mit der Liebe meines Lebens, einem außergewöhnlich kreativen Kameramann, ergriff ich die Gelegenheit, meine eigenen Filme zu produzieren: Kurzfilme zunächst. Dank meines talentierten Mannes waren sie erstklassig ausgeführt. Nach dem Einsenden unserer Filme an mehrere Festivals bemerkte ich, dass es kein Filmfest auf Mallorca gab. Ich habe nicht lange überlegt, ich wusste: Das war es. Ich musste es tun. Die Idee für das Mallorca International Film Festival war geboren. Nach vier erstaunlichen Festivalausgaben bin ich froh, dass ich all die schlaflosen
treffs bei Rialto Living. Unsere Eröffnungsgala im Teatro Principal war ein wunderbarer Abend mit internationalen Filmemachern aus Los Angeles, Miami, London, Deutschland und Spanien. Das EMIFF hat sich etabliert. Wir können jetzt neue Sponsoren angehen, denn wir haben etwas Großes zu zeigen: eine internationale Veranstaltung, die hochkarätige Geschäftsleute anzieht, Profis ebenso wie neue frische Gesichter der Filmindustrie. Ich bin sehr gespannt auf das, was im nächsten Jahr passiert. Ich freue mich darauf, neue Ideen für weitere Workshops zu besprechen, für Diskussionsrunden und Filmpremieren. Unser Ziel ist es, zu expandieren und vielleicht einige Teile des Programms wie Musikvideos und den Bereich Experimentelles auf Ibiza zu zeigen oder einen besonderen künstlerischen Beitrag für Menorca zu kuratieren. Die Möglichkeiten sind vielfältig. Und in nur elf Monaten heißt es wieder „Action”, dann für die 5. Auflage. Ich hoffe, Sie dort zu sehen.

The best wines & champagnes For the Portals Hills Boutique Hotel, Mauro Navarro stores the best in whites, reds and champagnes in the Island’s unique wine wall ith Christmas and New Year’s Eve to look forward to, we took a look at Mallorca’s most interesting wine ‘cellar’. This two-storey glass wall at the Portals Hills Boutique Hotel is divided into two areas. The lower part showcases the most interesting bottles in the collection, while the upper part, which can be accessed from Collins Restaurant, keeps wine at the correct temperature for serving and is used for wine tastings and by guests who like to pick their wine personally before dinner with the help of the hotel’s service team. Mauro Navarro, food and beverage manager and the hotel’s sommelier, has carefully selected a collection of fine wines with a focus on regional producers. The 35-year-old, who worked in several five-star hotels around the world before moving from mainland Spain to Mallorca, regards the local vineyards as very interesting. Top of his list are wines from New Zealand, South Africa and California. A few German wines, like Riesling, are to be found on the list, but on the whole his guests “prefer to try Mallorquin specialties when on holiday”. From mainland Spain he has chosen a few wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but has avoided French wines “to reflect modern tastes”. From the bodegas in Mallorca, which greatly impress gourmets as their limited editions are only to be found in a few Michelinstarred restaurants, he has included among others, Miguel Gelabert. For DELUXE Mallorca Magazine he has selected his top ten champagnes, red and white wines for the winter season. In third place is Tinto Supernova 2013 from C’an Verdura, as the best of the local bodegas. He currently has a novelty on ice for the next wine tasting: Gik – a sweet, bright blue wine from north-west Spain first launched in the summer of 2015. If it meets with the approval of wine experts, it will shortly find its way on to the wine list – colour wise it fits in perfectly with the pool next to the Miami-style La Cabana Bar with its sea views. Da nun die Weihnachtsfeiertage und Silvester vor uns liegen, schaute das DELUXE-Team in Mallorcas derzeit interessantesten „Weinkeller” – die imposante Glaskonstruktion über zwei Etagen ziert die Lobby des Boutiquehotels Portals Hills und hält im unteren Bereich die schönsten Flaschen zur Besichtigung bereit, während der obere Raum durch das Collins Restaurant zu betreten ist. Hier werden die Weine auf Ideal-Temperatur gekühlt für Weinverkostungen oder für Gäste, die sich dort vor dem Essen vom Service-Team des Hotels beraten lassen möchten. Mauro Navarro, Food and Beverage Manager sowie Sommelier des Hauses, hat hier eine Sammlung der besten Weine zusammengetragen, mit Fokus auf Produkte der Insel. Der 35-Jährige arbeitete zuvor in mehreren Fünf-Sterne-Hotels weltweit, bevor er nun vom Festland auf die Insel zog. Er entdeckt in den hiesigen Bodegas viele interessante Weine, listet aber zudem einige aus Neuseeland, Südafrika und Kalifornien. Auch deutsche (Riesling zum Beispiel) finden sich auf der Karte, doch die Gäste „bevorzugen Spezialitäten der Insel”. Für das DELUXE Mallorca Magazin wählte er seine Top Ten aus Champagner, Rotund Weißwein für die Wintersaison: Auf Platz drei findet sich der Tinto Supernova 2013 von C’an Verdura als bester der lokalen Bodegas. Eine innovative Kuriosität kühlt derzeit für die nächste Weinprobe vor: Gik, ein süßer Wein vom Festland in blauer Farbe, der im Sommer 2015 neu vorgestellt wurde. Sollte er den Vorstellungen der Weinkenner entsprechen, wird er wohl demnächst auf der Getränkekarte zu finden sein – farblich passt er jedenfalls bestens zum Hotel-Pool mit weitem Meerblick neben der La Cabana Bar im MiamiStil. Sabine Pauly, who in 2005 became Gault Millau Patissier of the Year, shows how it can be endlessly refined. sell dreams, small comforts, sweet harmless temptations to bring down a multitude of saints crashing among the hazels and nougatines,” says the heroine of Joanne Harris’s fabulous novel Chocolat, describing her profession of chocolatier. She is privy to the secrets of the ancient Mayans, who drank natural cocoa with a pinch of chilli pepper. Today, this ‘brown gold’ comes to Europe primarily from Venezuela, and there are good reasons for its popularity. Its 300 precious ingredients include some that make you feel happier after eating it, and others that promote health. Just like Vianne Rocher, the heroine of Chocolat, German pastry chef Sabine Pauly also spent twelve years travelling the world, in her case the world of haute cuisine, before she opened her own chocolate shop ‘La Fleur du Chocolate’ in Mayen-Alzheim, Germany, in 2009. She selects “only the very best” ingredients – chocolate from France, gossamer fine decorations and packaging. The company now has 15 employees, and in addition to

traditional flavours, they come up with unusual flavour combinations such as a praline with caramel, espresso and Tyrolean speck, for a customer from South Tyrol. This particular creation is described by Managing Director Patrick Schmitz as, “idiosyncratic but magnifique!” Personally he prefers the raspberry and chocolate cookies. For the cafe and shop in Bendorf/Sayn, Sabine Pauly GmbH manufacture their truffles and petit fours in the factory over the road, where they also hold workshops about chocolate, both for connoisseurs and for companies as a corporate event. Here, participants learn the correct techniques and tips to fill, coat and shape these unique treats. The factory in Bendorf also makes all the truffles and petit fours for her cafe and shop in her home town of Mayen-Alzheim. For all of us who can’t get there in person, there is a modern, beautifully designed online shop that clearly displays the elegant boxes of pralines, bars of chocolate and other specialities. is on regionality and seasonality in order to maintain the high quality of the products. Recently an ancient local variety of cherry was rediscovered. The ‘Perle von Filsen’, a traditional sweet cherry from the Middle Rhine region that today only grows on a single tree, now gives one of the pralines its distinctive flavour. Equally sophisticated are the truffles made from vineyard peaches, covered with thyme-flavoured milk chocolate or three types of Grand Cru couverture chocolate with 40%, 66% and 70% cocoa content. For the ‘Sabine Pauly’ praline, macadamia nuts and Tanariva Grand Cru couverture chocolate are combined with caramel to produce a mouth-watering delicacy. She also makes lactose- and glutenfree varieties, and ones without nuts and alcohol. Among the fans of Sabine Pauly’s chocolate specialities are the British motor car manufacturer Rolls-Royce and DELUXE Mallorca Magazine. At Christmas they send selected clients a chocolate treat. Thomas Cook continues to invest in Mallorca Over the past three years Thomas Cook, Europe’s second largest tour operator, has spent 25 million euros on modernising hotels on the Island. And the company intends to continue this strategy. According to CEO Peter Fankhauser, Mallorca is the most important holiday destination in Spain. In 2014 the company sent 2.1 million tourists from 15 countries to Mallorca. Thomas Cook operates 209 hotels worldwide under its own brands: Sentido, Smartline, Sunwing, Sunprime and Sunconnect. 25 of these are to be found in Mallorca. Thomas Cook, Europas zweitgrößter Reiseveranstalter, modernisierte in den letzten drei Jahren für 25 Millionen Euro Hotels auf der Insel. Diese Strategie wird der Konzern weiterfahren. British entrepreneur Richard Branson has recently bought back, for an eight figure sum, Son Bunyola, one of the largest properties in Mallorca. Branson had previously owned this estate of three million square metres on the west coast from 1994 to 2002. At the time, he wanted to convert the property into a luxury hotel. But his plans were thwarted by objections from the Island Council, so in 2002 he sold it to the British-Colombian couple Christian and Martha Hore. At the end of October, it was announced that Richard Branson had bought it back again. There is as yet no information about what he plans to do with it.

he figures in themselves are impressive: Star Flyer, one of the largest sailing ships in the world, is 360 ft long, has a sail area of 36,000 sq ft, a mast height of 226 ft and can accommodate up to 170 passengers. The ship, which currently sails the world under a Maltese flag, belongs to the Star Clippers line. One of three tall ships, it offers passengers a high level of comfort combined with the traditions and romance of a sailing ship which, when there is sufficient wind, cuts through the waves under wind power alone.

There is a sewing machine on deck specifically for mending them, which is often put into use. On windy days you can retreat to the elegantly furnished library, which has both an internet connection and a flickering fire. Naturally, the greatest attraction are the 16 sails, which are rarely all hoisted together. Experienced sailors know that if you have good wind, then five or six sails are enough. “If we were to set all the sails, then the ship would literally ‘blow over’,” says Captain Yuriy Kuschenko from Ukraine. Sail the Mediterranean on a Tall Ship In 2016, Star Flyer will be putting to sea a number of times from Palma de Mallorca The ship’s modern technology, which of course it employs, is well hidden. From the outside it looks every inch the historic sailing ship, identical to those that traversed the world 100 years ago. Technically speaking, Star Flyer is a barquentine, rigged square on the foremast. This makes it highly photogenic. Whenever Star Flyer enters port, it finds cameras and iPhones trained on this proud ship. The majority of the passengers are repeat customers who know the ship from previous cruises. As far as comfort goes, Star Flyer is almost on a par with the large cruise ships. Cabins have a shower and toilet, and in the evening a multi-course dinner is served by waiters. For this, the dress code for men is a shirt and long trousers. On deck there are two small pools and a wealth of old fashionedlooking machinery and gadgets to deal with the enormous number of ropes. Everywhere gleams with polished teak. However, the sails no longer have to be raised by hand as in the past; electric motors now do this in an instant. But manual work is still required if a sail rips.

The ship moves in a swell, and if you are prone to sea sickness, then it is advisable to have some pills with you just in case. Thrill seekers can lie in the netting attached to the bowsprit off the front of the ship and watch the foaming waves below. Those of a more delicate nature can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean from the comfort of their lounger. The sound of the ship cutting through the small waves of the Mediterranean is occasionally interrupted by a shout when dolphins are spotted. Once in a while another ship can be glimpsed in the distance. And for this there is an app that tells you what type of ship it is and its exact location. Star Flyer prefers to moor in small ports like Monaco, Saint Tropez and Cannes. As the ship cannot moor directly alongside the mole, passengers are brought ashore on a tender. Those who want to swim, for example, are taken to the beach in Saint Tropez, the Plage de Pampelonne. This is where in the 1950s the
famous movie ‘And God Created Woman’ was filmed with Brigitte Bardot and Curd Jürgens. In September, the water is still warm and crystal clear. Only sailors are permitted to climb the rope ladder to the lookout on the main mast as the first lookout is 20 metres up. But as the iPhone generation all want to take a photo of the ship from above, when in port the crew offers anyone the chance the climb the mast. Wearing sturdy shoes and secured with a harness, the climb to the lookout is actually fairly straightforward as long as you have a head for heights. For those who wish to combine the joy of sailing with fine dining, there is a gourmet cruise in summer 2016. On board will be Jean-Marie Meulien, a chef from France with three Michelin stars, and chef Christian Loisl, who has one Michelin star. His style is characterised by his unusual cooking techniques. The chefs have a team of 23 professional cooks from all over the world working under them. Wine tastings and lectures will also be on offer. The Guinness Book of Records will soon have a brand new entry. Star Clippers has commissioned a new ship that will break all existing records. The five-masted barque will be 162 metres long, carry 300 passengers and be powered by 6,300 sq m of sails. The vessel is currently being built in Croatia and will undertake its first cruise at the end of 2017. It will be modelled on the five-masted sailing ship France II, which was in service from 1911 to 1922 and was at the time the largest square-rigger in the world. The other three Star Clippers ships were modelled on the Preussen, built in Geestemünde in 1902 and the only five-masted ship in the world. Star Clippers founder Mikael Krafft was fascinated by ships even as a small boy. For the construction of Star Flyer, he spent more than three years researching the blueprints of historic ships from the 18th century. Then in 1990 construction started at a well-known Belgian shipyard. The cruises were so popular that Krafft had further ships built. Das Segelschiff, das zurzeit unter maltesischer Flagge die Weltmeere kreuzt, gehört der Reederei Star Clippers. Es ist einer von drei Großseglern und bietet den Gästen eine Mischung aus hohem Komfort und dem romantischen Erlebnis, auf einem Großsegler zu sein, der – bei ausreichendem Wind – allein durch Windkraft vorwärtskommt. Die moderne Technik, über die das Schiff natürlich auch verfügt, ist gut versteckt. Von

reißen – dafür gibt es auf Deck eine ExtraNähmaschine, die des Öfteren in Betrieb ist. Für windige Tage ist Platz in der elegant gestalteten Bibliothek, die über Internet verfügt, aber auch über einen knisternden Kamin. Die größte Attraktion sind selbstverständlich die 16 Segel, von denen meist nicht alle gesetzt werden. Erfahrene Segler wissen, dass es bei gutem Wind ausreicht, fünf oder sechs Segel zu setzen. „Wären alle Segel gesetzt, würde das Schiff förmlich umgeblasen”, erklärt Kapitän Yuriy Kuschenko. Kuschenko, der aus der Ukraine kommt, gibt gerne Erklärungen zu den Namen: vom Außenklüver über das Kreuzstagsegel bis zum Focksegel. Im Gegensatz zu den gigantischen Kreuzfahrtschiffen, auf denen selbst starker Wellengang kaum zu spüren ist, hat man auf der Star Flyer noch direkten Kontakt zum Wasser. Bei
Mit einem Viermaster über das Mittelmeer Die „Star Flyer“ sticht 2016 mehrmals ab Palma de Mallorca in See außen gleicht es einem historischen Segler, wie er vor 100 Jahren die Weltmeere kreuzte. Technisch ist die Star Flyer eine Barkentine, mit Rahsegeln am Vormast. Das ist höchst fotogen: Wo immer die Star Flyer in einen Hafen einläuft, richten sich Fotoapparate und iPhones auf das stolze Schiff. Ein Großteil der Gäste sind „Wiederholungstäter“, die das Schiff schon von anderen Reisen kennen. In Sachen Komfort steht die Star Flyer großen Kreuzfahrtschiffen kaum nach: Die Kabinen sind mit Dusche und WC ausgestattet, im Speisesaal wird abends ein mehrgängiges Menü von Kellnern serviert, dazu ist bei Herren lange Hose und Hemd Pflicht. Auf Deck gibt es zwei kleine Pools und jede Menge altertümlich wirkende Instrumente und Vorrichtungen, um die gewaltigen Mengen an Seilen zu vertäuen. Überall glänzt poliertes Teakholz. Die Segel müssen allerdings nicht mehr wie früher von Hand aufgezogen werden; elektrische Antriebe erledigen dies im Nu. Handarbeit ist aber vonnöten, wenn Segel ein-

Wagemutige sonnen sich unterdessen vorne im Netz unter der Bugspriet, die schäumenden Wellen direkt unter sich. Ängstlichere Naturen genießen den Blick über die Weite des Mittelmeeres vom Liegestuhl. Das Dahinrauschen über die nur kleinformatigen Wellen des Mittelmeeres wird manchmal unterbrochen von Rufen, wenn jemand Delfine gesichtet hat. Nur von Ferne ist ab und zu ein anderes Schiff zu sehen. Dafür gibt es eine App, die genau verrät, um welchen Typ es sich handelt und wo exakt sein Standort ist. Die Star Flyer legt vorzugsweise in kleinen Häfen wie Monaco, Saint Tropez oder Cannes an. Da das Schiff dort nicht direkt an der Mole festmachen kann, werden die Passagiere mit einem Tenderboot an Land gebracht. Zum Baden wird zum Beispiel der Hausstrand von Saint Tropez, die Plage de Pampelonne, angefahren. Hier entstand in den 50er Jahren der
berühmte Kinofilm „Und immer lockt das Weib“ mit Brigitte Bardot und Curd Jürgens. Im September ist das Wasser hier noch warm und glasklar. Auf den Hauptmast dürfen eigentlich nur die Matrosen auf der Strickleiter klettern, der erste Ausguck liegt ja bereits in 20 Metern Höhe. Weil die Generation iPhone aber gerne von dort oben ein Foto auf das Schiff machen will, bietet die Mannschaft im Hafen eine Kletterübung für jedermann an. Mit Seil gesichert und mit festen Schuhen ist der Aufstieg bis zum Ausguck eigentlich ganz einfach, sofern man schwindelfrei ist. Wer das Segelvergnügen mit Schlemmen verbinden will, kann sich im Sommer 2016 zu Gourmet-Kreuzfahrten anmelden. Mit dabei sind unter anderem Chef Jean-Marie Meulien, ein Drei-Sterne-Koch aus Frankreich, sowie Chef Christian Loisl, der einen Michelin-Stern vorweisen kann. Sein Stil ist geprägt von ungewöhnlichen Koch- und Gartechniken. Die Chefs haben ein Team von 23 Küchenprofis aus aller Welt unter sich. Außerdem wird es Weinproben und Vorträge geben. Demnächst muss das Guinness-Buch der Rekorde um einen Eintrag ergänzt werden, denn Star Clippers hat ein neues Schiff in Auftrag gegeben, das alle Rekorde sprengen wird. Royal Body Concept has opened a second studio in Palma The gym with focus on EMS training and extra facilities for the figure-conscious will soon be featured in a new TV series on VOX t is not that long since Prince Karl-Heinz von Sayn-Wittgenstein realised his idea for a sports studio with extra facilities for the figure-conscious and opened the Royal Body Concept in Santa Ponsa. When it came to equipping the two-storey building, great attention was first paid to obtaining the highest quality equipment and furnishings, and after that the search for personnel was just as painstaking. German television channel VOX noted the activities of the RBC team and covered the opening for its series ‘Goodbye Deutschland’ – with great success. During filming it was mentioned that the concept was to be marketed as a franchise, and this led to a great number of enquiries. Within a few months, two projects were realised. While the opening of a studio in Luxembourg is currently at the planning stage, RBC Palma opened at the beginning of October. The spacious premises on Camí de Gènova have space for five Xbody EMS stations, and a mobile unit for external appointments. Two bright treatment rooms with Slimbeam training stations are available for body sculpting, massages and physiotherapy. Close attention has also been paid to the changing rooms; here clients have access to shower gel, shampoo and high-quality cologne. The opening of the new studio in Palma was attended by prominent personalities including Costa, Lucas and Kiki Cordalis, Antonia aus Tirol with her partner, and dog whisperer José Arce. Other guests were the co-owner of CCA Andratx, Steen Soendergaard, Matt Grasl of Princess Yachts and the well-known dentist Dr Turgay Turhan. A camera team from 99 Pro Media filmed the event for VOX, and musical accompaniment was provided by the cult electric violinist Julio Cuba. It is not yet known when the VOX programme will be shown, but the RBC Facebook page will publicise this in good time. Es ist noch nicht lange her, dass Karl Heinz Fürst von Sayn-Wittgenstein seine Idee für ein Sportstudio mit Extra für Figurbewusste verwirklichte und mit dem Royal Body Concept in Santa Ponsa an den Start ging. Bereits bei der Ausstattung des zweigeschossigen Gebäudes wurde auf höchste Qualität der Geräte und der Einrichtung geachtet, später suchte man das Personal ebenso sorgsam aus. Der Fernsehsender VOX wurde aufmerksam auf die Aktivitäten des RBC-Teams und begleitete die Eröffnung für Goodbye Deutschland – mit großem Erfolg. Bei den Dreharbeiten wurde erwähnt, dass das Konzept im FranchiseSystem vermarktet wird, unzählige Anfragen folgten. Wenige Monate später konnten bereits zwei Projekte umgesetzt werden. Während die Eröffnung eines Studios in Luxemburg derzeit geplant wird, ging Anfang Oktober das RBC Palma an den Start. Die großzügigen Räumlichkeiten auf dem Camí de Gènova bieten Platz für fünf EMS-Stationen von Xbody, eine mobile Einheit ermöglicht Termine außer Haus. Zwei helle Behandlungsräume mit SlimbeamGeräten stehen für die Fettzellenentleerung, Massagen und Physiotherapie bereit. Selbst bei den Umkleideräumen wurde auf Details geachtet: Nach dem Besuch kann der Gast aus Duschgel, Shampoo und Duftwassern wählen. Zur Eröffnung in Palma kamen Prominente wie Costa, Lucas und Kiki Cordalis, Antonia aus Tirol oder Hundeflüsterer José Arce. Unter den Gästen sah man den Mitinhaber des CCA Andratx, Steen Soendergaard, Matt Grasl von Princess Yachts oder den bekannten Implantologen Dr. med. dent. Turhan. Das Kamerateam von 99 Pro Media begleitete für VOX die Veranstaltung, die musikalisch von ElektroGeiger Julio Cuba untermalt worden war. Wann genau VOX die Sendung ausstrahlen wird, ist noch nicht bekannt, aber die Facebook-Seite des Unternehmens wird sicher rechtzeitig darauf hinweisen. New showroom for Nolte Cocinas in Santa Ponsa Kitchen and furniture label Nolte has found a new home for its showroom in Santa Ponsa. At the end of August, Ralf Heitkamp and his team opened the two storey building in Centro Comercial on Gran Via Puig de Castellet, just a few metres from its former location. In addition to kitchens, it also has bedroom furniture on display. Numerous guest enjoyed the hearty barbecue in the garden.

Im Centro Comercial auf der Gran Via Puig de Castellet, wenige Meter vom vorherigen Standort, eröffnete Ralf Heitkamp mit seinem Team Ende August das zweistöckige Gebäude, das neben Küchen auch Schlafzimmermöbel zeigt. Zu dem zünftigen Barbecue im Garten erschienen zahlreiche Gäste.

Adventure walk around Sóller and Deià At the beginning of October, Astrid Princess zu Stolberg led an exclusive walking group on a hike along the ‘Artist’s Way’, with an entertaining programme on the way, including a visit to the museum La Granja in Esporles, lunch at Hotel Son Bleda in Sóller and a Flamenco concert in C’as Patro March. The final destination of the day trip was Hotel La Residencia in Deià, which offered the perfect setting for dinner and good conversation. In late October, AIGNER opened the first monolabel store on the Island. The official opening was attended by some specially invited guests. Joining shop owner Natalia Birli and AIGNER CEO Sibylle Schön were a number of celebrities: actresses Jana Pallaske and Stephanie Stumph as well as Katja Riemann and her daughter Paula admired the new handbag created specially for the occasion which they have named 'Cybill – Telas de Lengua'.
