Für den Nachfolger des Kassenschlagers „Mann tut was Mann kann“ mit Jan Josef Liefers und Wotan Wilke Möhring in den Hauptrollen hatte man als Kulisse die Halbinsel La Fortaleza in Pollença gewählt, die zu den exklusivsten Privatresidenzen im Mittelmeerraum gehört. The location chosen for this sequel to the box office hit ‘Mann tut was Mann kann’ with Jan Josef Liefers and Wotan Wilke Möhring in the leading roles was the La Fortaleza peninsular in Pollença, one of the most exclusive private residences in the Mediterranean. The film shows Mallorca at its very best and makes you long for the summer holidays. Fortunately the Easter holidays are just around the corner. The programme of spring events on the Island includes not only sports camps and music festivals, but also the traditional Easter processions of the fraternities. There are also many culinary discoveries to be made. Newly opened restaurants focus on healthy eating and over the holidays offer not only festive menus, but some have live music and workshops, too. For lovers of fine food, the seven restaurants awarded MICHELIN Stars in the 2015 guide are a definite attraction. You will also discover more places to visit from Katy Karrenbauer, who did a photo-shoot for DELUXE photographer Jan Kohlrusch. We do not know yet when it will be broadcast, but we can reveal that Ralf Bauer recently filmed a new project in Mallorca, too. He talked to us about classical drama, Tibetan yoga and human rights. And yet more celebrities will be visiting the Island at the beginning of June, when Heiner Lauterbach will be the star guest playing at the golf tournament in aid of the dolphin aid Foundation. For a place in his flight, you can enter the silent auction that runs until the middle of April. At the gala evening he will be supported by fellow actors Götz Otto and Bernd Herzsprung, as well as Willi Weber and Princess Ursula zu Hohenlohe-Oehringen with her husband Prince Peter zu Hohenlohe. Tony Cragg at Expo 2015 His marble sculpture Paradox is a highlight of Expo Milano 2015

1st May – 31st October 2015 British artist Tony Cragg, whose sculpture at the Castell Miquel winery is a much visited attraction (see photo above), will be showing his three-metre work Paradox on the terrace of the Duomo, as part of Expo Milano 2015.

As part of his Spanish tour, popstar Alejandro Sanz will be performing live in Palma’s bull ring on 12th August 2015. Tickets are available from the record store ‘Discos Oh!’ in Mallorca. Further performances are planned in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga and Seville. The tour is dedicated to his latest album, which will be released in the spring.

Semana Santa in Mallorca Traditional processions make Easter in Mallorca particularly memorable uring Easter week, you will see throughout the Island processions of Catholic ‘penitentes’ dressed in the colourful robes and tall pointed hats (capirotes) of their particular fraternity. In Palma there are processions every day, with holy images paraded through the streets. The most popular is the Santo Cristo de la Sangre procession that dates from 1154 and involves more than 30 different Catholic fraternities. The Good Friday event in Pollença is probably the most atmospheric. Large crowds gather at the sides of the Calvari steps to watch the ‘penitentes’ in a torch-lit procession. It starts high above the town, in the company of Roman soldiers at the Calvari Chapel, and then descends down the 365 steps of the Calvari into town for a mock crucifixion. The

procession starts about 9pm and you need to arrive early for a good view. ‘Pancaritats’ also take place across the Island, usually between Easter Sunday and the Tuesday after Easter. The literal meaning of ‘Pancaritat’ is bread charity and it is a Holy Week tradition dating back to 1407. Typically it involves most of the residents of a village making a short pilgrimage to a local chapel or holy place for a day-long picnic. The most famous is held at Bellver Castle overlooking Palma but many of the smaller villages hold their own Pancaritat. It is a chance for the men to show off their cooking skills and for the local teenagers to design a special T-shirt for the day. Der sehenswerteste ist wohl der des Santo-Cristo-de-laSangre-Ordens, der bereits seit 1154 abgehalten wird und über dreißig verschiedene Bruderschaften zusammenbringt. Am Karfreitag ist die Prozession in Pollença wegen ihrer besonderen Atmosphäre zu empfehlen. Die Zuschauer versammeln sich an der Calvari-Treppe, die Büßer tragen Fackeln und werden begleitet von Männern in der Uniform römischer Soldaten. Die Prozession beginnt an der Calvari-Kirche und geht die 365 Stufen hinab in den Ort zur „Hinrichtung”. Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 21 Uhr, es ist aber ratsam etwas früher dort zu sein, um einen Platz mit guter Sicht zu finden. „Pancaritats” wird meist zwischen Ostersonntag und dem Dienstag danach zelebriert. Die wörtliche Übersetzung von „Pancaritats” ist Brotspende, das Fest wird seit 1407 gefeiert. One of the seven restaurants in Mallorca that were awarded one MICHELIN star in the prestigious 2015 Michelin Guide is that of the young Mallorquin chef Andreu Genestra in Capdepera. The 34-year-old learned his trade from famous chefs, including at El Bulli, and is one of the most promising young talents on the Island. His philosophy: modern interpretations of traditional Island cuisine, presented in a creative way. His specialities: coconut risotto, sea bass with pistachios and cardamom syrup, and suckling pig with ensaimada. The restaurant, which bears his name, is in the elegant 4-star Predi Son Jaumell country hotel. Dating from the 17th century, it now boasts 24 suites, each decorated in its own distinct style, but all have views of the medieval castle of Capdepera.

Mar de Nudos, Palma de Mallorca Mar de Nudos, which opened in October 2014, goes into its first summer season as the place to meet for lovers of fine food who value Mediterranean food with Asian influence in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu includes homemade pasta with lobster as well as oysters and sushi. This is the kind of emotion called for when Ralf Bauer, with his friend Pat Fritz on guitar, performs his shows ‘Bauer sucht Christkind’ and ‘Goethe goes Goppfstand’. We met the actor for a wintery dinner in Hotel i31 in the centre of Berlin, and learned by candlelight about his sketch ‘Weihnachtslied chemisch gereinigt’ and how he acted out a ‘horny Prometheus’ as part of his show.

Herr Bauer, you have played roles in many classics, from ‘Tristan and Isolde’ to ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Julius Caesar’. The classics are always relevant. Whether it is a Greek tragedy or a domestic drama, the basic themes of humanity remain the same. Fundamentally people do not change, we just communicate differently. But we all suffer, we all hate, we all love and we are all looking for happiness. You like to open your shows with Goethe’s ‘Faust’. When I do readings I like to do a mixture of classical and modern pieces, and of course Goethe falls into that category. When it comes to the theatre, my favourite roles are Schiller’s heroes – Ferdinand from ‘Intrigue and Love’, Don Carlos, Mortimer from ‘Mary Stuart’... We have also seen you in comedies, including modern ones like ‘Zwei Frauen, ein Mann und ein Baby’. Why do you do this lighter material? One rarely finds a good comedy that also has depth. But there are some that really make you think and get you to see life through someone else’s eyes. Do you think it’s true that lighter material like comedies are easier to market than dramas?

Herr Bauer, Sie haben viele Klassiker gespielt, von „Tristan und Isolde“ über „Romeo und Julia“ bis „Julius Cäsar“. Klassik ist immer aktuell. Ob griechische Tragödie oder bürgerliches Trauerspiel – die wesentlichen Themen der Menschheit bleiben dieselben. Die Menschen verändern sich im Kern nicht, nur unsere Kommunikationswege sind anders geworden. Aber wir alle leiden, wir alle hassen, wir alle lieben, und jeder sucht das Glück. Ihre Lesungen eröffnen Sie gerne mit Goethes „Faust“. Bei Lesungen mag ich die Mischung zwischen Klassikern und Modernem, da gehört Goethe natürlich dazu. Was das Spielen anbelangt, sind meine liebsten Rollen die SchillerJünglinge – Ferdinand aus „Kabale und Liebe“, Don Carlos, Mortimer aus „Maria Stuart“ … Man sah Sie auch in Komödien, modernen zumal, etwa „Zwei Frauen, ein Mann und ein Baby“. Wieso dann diese leichten Stoffe? Es gibt zwar selten gute Komödien, die auch Tiefe haben. Aber einige gibt es, die zum Nachdenken anregen – dazu, das Leben mit anderen Augen zu sehen. Stimmt der Satz, dass sich leichte Stoffe wie Komödien eher zur Vermarktung eignen als Dramen? Das hat etwas mit der Spielweise zu tun. In Deutschland werden Komödien sehr technisch gespielt, das funktioniert hier besser. Wenn man sich in die Emotionalität begibt, ist das für Tragödien gut. Das wird aber bei Komödien in Deutschland selten gemacht, es bleibt oft bei einer technischen Oberfläche. Insofern sind deutsche Tragödien interessanter, ob im Theater oder im Film. Auch auf der Bühne passt das Drama besser, denn dort gilt eine andere Dynamik, man muss größer spielen. Hier bietet übrigens die Musik besondere Möglichkeiten, weil sie durch Töne und Lautstärke eine ganz andere Dynamik erzeugt, sie kann etwas herbeizaubern, was mit Worten allein schwierig ist. Neben dem Schauspiel treten Sie als Lehrer für tibetanisches Yoga auf. Ist dies anders als das indische? Das tibetanische Yoga unterscheidet sich

Am bekanntesten ist etwa die Bewegung von Hunden, wie sie sich strecken, wenn sie lange gelegen haben. Da

es in Tibet andere Tiere als in Indien gibt, sind also einige Bewegungsabläufe und Positionen anders. Die Wirkung aber ist dieselbe. Tibetanisches Yoga ist vielleicht noch etwas unverfälschter und ursprünglicher, weil es nicht wie das indische Yoga durch Hippies oder westliche Gurus variiert und abgewandelt, von

Asien in die USA und dann wieder nach Europa gekommen ist und dabei oft für den Westen kommerzialisiert wurde. Wie ist Ihr politisches Engagement für Tibet zu verstehen? Das geht vor allem auf meine beste Freundin zurück, die Tibeterin und selbst sehr aktiv in der Tibet-Frage ist. Sie hat ein Restaurant, in dem ich viele Tibeter und deren Schicksale kennengelernt habe. Das hat mich dazu bewogen, den Tibetern, die von sich aus sehr zurückhaltend sind, zu helfen. Ich dachte, die Leute brauchen eine Stimme. Im vergangenen Jahr habe ich in Indien einen Mönch kennengelernt, der 36 Jahre in chinesischer Gefangenschaft war. Er wurde immer wieder verhaftet, weil er nie aufgegeben hat, und jetzt ist er 81. Diese ruhige Konsequenz, diese zuversichtliche Geisteshaltung kennzeichnet auch den Dalai Lama, der dafür so bekannt und für viele Westler so vorbildhaft wurde. Zurück zum Schauspiel: Sie haben gerade auf Mallorca ein Projekt angeschoben. Ich habe dort im vergangenen Herbst etwas gedreht. Es ist ein Projekt, an dem Esther Schweins, Hugo Egon Balder, Wigald Boning und Martin Luding beteiligt sind. Es ist eine Geschichte, die den Zeitgeist von Frauen und Männern ab Mitte vierzig trifft mit all den Problemchen, die mit diesem Alter einhergehen. Hugo Egon Balder zum Beispiel gibt einen Sänger mit einem erfolgreichen Song, einem richtigen Knaller. Gefrustet von einer ehemaligen Beziehung singt er dieses Lied und wird damit quasi ein Berater für Frauen ab Mitte vierzig. Ist diese Generation reif für die Insel? Nicht unbedingt. Und ich selbst würde mich unwohl fühlen, wenn ich auf einer Insel leben müsste und damit ganz abhängig von Flugoder Fährverbindungen wäre. Ich möchte das Gefühl haben, dass ich mich auf dem Land, notfalls mit dem Fahrrad oder zu Fuß überall hinbewegen kann. So schön Mallorca ist – im Moment käme die Insel für mich als Lebensmittelpunkt nicht infrage. Dabei sitzen Sie viel im Flugzeug ... Das bringt mein Beruf mit sich – und beschert mir einige Anekdoten. Einmal hatte ich tibetische Räucherstäbchen im Handgepäck. Das sind besondere, nämlich ohne Zusatzstoffe, die gibt es nur da. Aber ich musste sie abgeben, denn man sagte mir, sie seien gefährlich wegen der Rauchentwicklung an Bord. Ich hatte zwar nicht vor, sie an Bord anzuzünden, aber das half nichts. Ich habe mich nur gefragt, weshalb man nicht sämtliches Papier im Flugzeug verbietet. Denn angezündet sorgt auch das für kräftige Rauchentwicklung an Bord. DAS INtERvIEw füHRtE NIKoLAuS NowAK

They started dancing together in 2012 and since then have won countless competitions. Marius Iepure, what for you marks Latin out from all other dance disciplines? Latin is a wonderful combination of sport and artistic expression. I was always mad keen on sport and I played both football and handball. When I started to dance at the age of twelve, I realised I was truly in my element and had found the perfect opportunity to combine sport and creativity. How do you express that with your partner today? As an intercultural dance couple we enjoy really special opportunities. I come from Eastern Europe, with its long tradition of ballet, Otlile on the other hand brings her African rhythms and attitude to life. It is fascinating and every day we discover something new in our work together. What goals have you set yourself for this year? We would very much like to retain our 2014 title. Taking part in ‘Let’s Dance’ is also a great challenge, and I would really like to win. And if we reach the finals of the world championships then that would be a very good outcome for the year. As Latin dancers how do you feel on the Spanish Island of Mallorca? I’ve been here before but it’s Otlile’s first time, and she feels particularly happy on the Island. Lots of things remind her of her native South Africa, the mountains, the climate and Palma’s location reminds her of Cape Town, too. We would like to come here more often!

Sie sind Deutsche Meister 2014 in Latin Kür und gelten als große Hoffnung des Tanzsports: Marius Iepure und Otlile Mabuse. Seit 2012 tanzen sie zusammen und gewannen seitdem zahlreiche Wettbewerbe. Der gebürtige Rumäne und die achtmalige südafrikanische Meisterin, jüngere Schwester von „Let’s Dance”-Star Motsi Mabuse, ließen sich auf Mallorca von DELUXE-Fotograf Jan Kohlrusch porträtieren. Wir fragten nach den Plänen des Paares für 2015.

Marius Iepure, was hebt Latin für Sie unter allen Tanzdisziplinen hervor? Latin bildet eine sehr schöne Kombination aus Sport und künstlerischem Ausdruck. Ich war immer schon sehr sportbegeistert, habe unter anderem Fußball und Handball gespielt. Als ich mit zwölf Jahren dann angefangen habe zu tanzen, hatte ich mein Element gefunden – die tolle Möglichkeit, Sport und Kreativität zu verbinden. Wie setzen Sie das heute mit Ihrer Partnerin um? Für uns als interkulturelles Tanzpaar ergeben sich hier besondere Möglichkeiten. Ich komme ja aus Osteuropa mit seiner ganzen alten BallettGeschichte, Otlile wiederum bringt die afrikanischen Rhythmen und deren Lebensgefühl mit. Das ist faszinierend, und jeden Tag entdecken wir Neues bei der gemeinsamen Arbeit. Welche Ziele haben Sie sich denn für dieses Jahr gesteckt? Wir würden gerne unsere Titel von 2014 wiederholen. Die Teilnahme bei „Let’s Dance“ ist auch eine große Herausforderung, da möchte ich gerne gewinnen. Und wenn wir bei der Weltmeisterschaft ins Finale kommen, ist das eine gute Leistung für dieses Jahr. Wie fühlen Sie sich als Latin-Tänzer auf der spanischen Insel Mallorca? Ich war vorher schon da, für Otlile war es das erste Mal, und sie fühlte sich besonders wohl auf der Insel. Vieles erinnerte sie an ihre Heimat Südafrika, die Berge, das Klima, auch die Lage von Palma erinnert an Kapstadt. Wir würden gerne öfter herkommen!

“Lenny Kravitz, that would really be something.” Actress, singer and writer Katy Karrenbauer took a short holiday on the Island in the autumn. DELUXE photographer Jan Kohlrusch met her at C’an Punta.

If you are spending just a few days on holiday in Mallorca, you only want to see the most interesting parts of the Island. So the best thing to do is to ask someone who knows where to find them. Some of the best restaurants are hidden away in small bays. DELUXE asked actress Katy Karrenbauer to reveal her own favourite places on the Island. She also talked about her new movie and forthcoming stage performances.

Music, theatre, television or a new book? What projects do you have in the pipeline for 2015? For me, 2015 is going to be an exciting year. My new film ‘Härte’, a semi-documentary by Rosa von Praunheim for ARTE, in which I play the mother of Hanno Kofler will be shown at the Berlinale. It is a difficult subject and very challenging, and I am curious to see how the public will react to it. After that I am filming ‘Goblin 2’ in Baden-Baden. Throughout the year the wonderful jazz pianist Lora Kostina and I will be touring Germany with our show celebrating ‘70 years of Joseph Brodsky’, and in the summer I will be appearing in the Pirates Open Air Theatre in Grevesmühlen, on the Baltic coast. I’m really looking forward to that. You have so many different talents, are there still things that you really want to achieve, apart from recording a duet with Lenny Kravitz? Ah, Lenny Kravitz, that would really be something. I've just seen him live in concert and I love his music. But to be honest I want above all just to be able to continue in my job. I’ve been acting for more than thirty years, making people laugh and cry, transporting them to a different world, and that still makes me very happy. I will continue to write and make music as well, as both of those are simply part of my life. You currently live in Berlin, is this your favourite city or simply a career decision? I like Berlin, but it was actually more of a career move. Before I went to Berlin for the TV series ‘Hinter Gitten’ I couldn’t imagine living

there. The city was just too big. But once you are actually in Berlin, it doesn’t feel so big anymore, because you spend most of your time in your own neighbourhood. I live in Charlottenburg, just like lots of my colleagues. The infrastructure is good and there’s a colourful mix of people. I really like that. You are often seen on the red carpet. Do you have any tips on how to achieve that glamorous look? The best thing to do is read the books by Guido Maria Kretschmer. They give you great tips and confidence – every woman is beautiful. My tip is always to accentuate the bit of yourself you like the most. Sadly we don’t always look our best in what is currently in fashion. Everyone has their own personal style and should stick to it, as there is nothing worse than standing on the red carpet feeling uncomfortable. You travel a lot, both for work and privately. Where is your favourite place to spend your holidays? I really like Mallorca, and when I can I hop on a plane, even if it’s just for a couple of days. The light, the people, the wide open views over the sea and Mallorquin food all help me to relax and give me strength. When I’m on the Island I always feel immediately at home, I don’t have to work out where I am and I can feel the wonderful energy of the landscape. If I’m going further afield, then I fly to America. Ever since I filmed ‘Menschen, Länder, Abenteuer’ for NDR and experienced on a Harley the incredible feeling of space in California, it keeps pulling me back. Some of your fellow actors, including Jochen Horst and Sonja Kirchberger, live in Mallorca. Is this something you would ever consider? I love them both and I think it’s great that they live on the Island. I could imagine living here too, and there was a time when I looked for a home on the Island. Even today, I always check out the apartments and fincas that I think I could live in. For the past two years I have been working on an idea that I would like to implement on the Island. But it’s all still at the planning stage, so I’m not ready to talk about it yet. Time will tell where we are headed. Frau Karrenbauer, thank you very much for talking to us. I love ‘El Sol’ in Son Serra de Marina, with its panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Here you can eat delicious fish and squid accompanied by quiet club music, and at the weekend they have live music. There are apartments above the restaurant at very reasonable rates. „Lenny Kravitz – das wär doch was.“ Katy Karrenbauer, Schauspielerin, Sängerin und Autorin, sammelt auf Mallorca Kraft für ihre Projekte. DELUXE-Fotograf Jan Kohlrusch porträtierte sie im C’an Punta in Portixol.

Wer nur wenige Tage auf der Insel verbringt, der möchte am liebsten nur die schönsten Plätze sehen. Am besten fragt man jemanden, der sich auskennt, wo man sie findet. Einige der sehenswertesten Restaurants verstecken sich in kleinen Buchten entlang der Küste. DELUXE MALLORCA fragte Katy Karrenbauer nach ihren Favoriten. Sie sprach dabei auch von einem neuen Film und Bühnenauftritten im Sommer.

Musik, Theater, Fernsehen oder ein neues Buch? Welche Projekte planen Sie für 2015? 2015 wird für mich ein spannendes Jahr. Auf der Berlinale wird mein neuer Film „Härte“ zu sehen sein, eine Halbdokumentation von Rosa von Praunheim für ARTE, in der ich die Mutter von Hanno Koffler spiele. Ein schwieriges Thema und eine große Herausforderung, ich bin neugierig, wie das Publikum darauf reagiert. Danach drehe ich den Film „Goblin 2“ in Baden-Baden, bin das Jahr über mit der wunderbaren Jazzpianistin Lora Kostina in Deutschland mit dem Projekt „70 Jahre Joseph Brodsky“ unterwegs und werde im Sommer auf der Piraten-Action-Open-Air-Bühne in Grevesmühlen an der Ostsee auf der Bühne stehen. Darauf freue ich mich sehr. Sie haben viele Talente ... Gibt es unerreichte Ziele, etwas, das Sie gerne noch tun würden, außer mit Lenny Kravitz ein Duett aufzunehmen? Ach, Lenny Kravitz, das wäre doch was. Ich war gerade auf seiner Konzerttour und liebe seine Musik. Aber ganz ehrlich, vor allem würde ich gern einfach weiterhin in meinem Beruf arbeiten dürfen. Ich bin ja vor über dreißig Jahren als Schauspielerin angetreten, um Menschen zum Lachen und Weinen zu bringen, sie abtauchen zu lassen in eine andere Welt, und das macht mir nach wie vor große Freude. Dazu werde ich schreiben und Musik machen, denn beides gehört zu meinem Leben einfach dazu. Sie leben zurzeit in Berlin, Ihre Lieblingsstadt oder eine berufliche Entscheidung?

Ich mag Berlin, aber tatsächlich war es eine berufliche Entscheidung. Bevor ich durch die Serie „Hinter Gittern“ nach Berlin kam, konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen, hier zu leben. Die Stadt war zu groß. Aber wenn man dann in Berlin ist, fällt das gar nicht mehr so auf, denn man verbringt die meiste Zeit im eigenen „Kiez”. Ich lebe in Charlottenburg, wie viele Kollegen und Kolleginnen. Die Infrastruktur ist gut, und es gibt einen bunten Menschen-Mix. Das gefällt mir sehr. Sie stehen oft auf dem roten Teppich. Haben Sie einen Tipp für einen glamourösen Auftritt? Am besten liest man Bücher von Guido Maria Kretschmer. Da bekommt man tolle Tipps und Selbstbewusstsein – jede Frau ist schön. Mein Tipp ist, immer das zu betonen, was man an sich am liebsten mag. Man sieht leider nicht immer in allem gut aus, was gerade angesagt ist. Jeder hat seinen eigenen Stil und sollte diesem folgen, denn nichts ist schlimmer, als auf dem roten Teppich zu stehen und sich unwohl zu fühlen. Sie sind beruflich und privat viel auf Reisen. Wo verbringen Sie am liebsten Ihre Ferien? Ich bin unglaublich gern auf Mallorca, und wenn ich kann, setze ich mich in den Flieger, auch wenn es nur für ein paar Tage ist. Das Licht, die Menschen und der Weitblick übers Meer, das mallorquinische Essen, all das lässt mich zur Ruhe kommen und stärkt mich. Ich habe auf der Insel immer das Gefühl, sofort „da” zu sein, muss mich nicht groß orientieren und spüre die wunderbare Energie der Landschaft. Wenn es dann doch mal weiter weg gehen sollte, fliege ich nach Amerika. Seit ich „Menschen, Länder, Abenteuer” für den NDR gedreht habe und die unglaubliche Weite von Kalifornien auf der Harley erlebt habe, zieht es mich immer wieder dorthin. Einige Ihrer Schauspielkollegen wie Sonja Kirchberger und Jochen Horst leben auf Mallorca. Ein denkbarer Schritt für Sie? Ich liebe beide Kollegen und finde es großartig, dass sie auf der Insel leben. Ich könnte mir das auch vorstellen, und es gab eine Zeit, in der ich mich hier nach einem Domizil umgesehen habe. Auch heute noch gucke ich immer wieder nach Wohnungen und Fincas, auf denen ich mir vorstellen könnte, zu leben. Dazu reift seit zwei Jahren eine Idee, was ich gern auf Insel machen möchte. Aber das alles ist noch in Planung, darum spreche ich noch

C’an Punta

Katys Tipps für die Insel Meine absolute Nr. 1 ist das Restaurant C’an Punta von Sonja Kirchberger. Carrer del Vicari Joaquim Fuster 105 in Portixol Wer gerne und gut zu Fuß ist, sollte sich den Aufstieg zum Trappistenkloster „Sa Trapa“ in Sant Elm gönnen und dann abwärts „klettern“. Dabei wird man den wundervollen Blick auf die Insel Sa Dragona genießen, die ihrem Namen alle Ehre macht. Sie sieht wirklich wie ein im Meer liegender Drache aus. Wichtig: festes Schuhwerk anziehen. Ich liebe das „El Sol” in Son Serra de Marina mit dem Blick auf die Weite des Mittelmeeres. Hier kann man wunderbar Fisch und Chipirones bei leiser Clubmusik essen, am Wochenende wird Livemusik geboten. Direkt über dem Restaurant befinden sich Apartments, die man zu einem guten Kurs buchen kann. Der Strand bietet sich an für Spaziergänge, Sonnenbaden oder Ausritte. Herr Martinek, in many of your earlier films, you took on the role of an action hero. Why did you do this? It was the heyday of the action format, and for me particularly the TV series ‘The Clown’, in which I played the leading role. Four years in which we made hard-hitting action television. Since then things have changed in television. At that time there were very elaborate productions, with a lot of money invested in them. They couldn’t really be made today, as the industry is having to make savings left right and centre. We then lost out to ‘Big Brother’ and ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, and after that it was all about viewing figures which we couldn’t compete with. The good thing is, we finished on a high and the programme is still remembered. Wherever I go, people still want to talk to me about ‘The Clown’.

Why do crime dramas endure on television, sometimes for decades? It’s the same the world over. People like to read crime fiction and watch it on television. It always involves stories of extreme relationships between people, and those can be told very well. In that respect it’s a very rewarding format. When you look in a bookshop you will see that a large number of the books are crime fiction. You appear a lot on German television. Did you ever consider going abroad? German is my native language. I dream in German and as an actor I feel very much at home in Germany. And you can’t just decide to go abroad, especially to America. There it is a

cut-throat business, it would be very difficult to get into, and you really get put through the mill in the casting process. Quite apart from the fact that over there, there are already hundreds of actors like me. It is more a matter of getting invited to America, like Christoph Walz. I admire Christoph Walz very much, not least because in his first American role in ‘Inglourious Basterds’ he won an Oscar, too. That made him an insider, but something like that happens every 50 years or so. How are you building up your career in Germany? I am continuing to film our crime drama series ‘Morden im Norden’ which goes out every Tuesday on ARD. The series takes place in Lübeck, and once again I play a police inspector, together with Ingo Naujoks. We make a great team. From March onwards we will once again be filming the family drama series ‘Tierärztin Dr. Mertens’, in which I play the paediatrician Christoph Lenz. I really enjoy that, too. How are things in your own family? You have six children with different mothers. Do you sometimes manage to get them all together? My children live all over the place, and some of them are now old enough to make their own plans. Getting all of them together at the same time is difficult, but we manage it from time to time. And then there is Sofia Thomalla, who is a bit like a stepdaughter to me. Her mother,

Simone Thomalla is today one of my best friends. You spent some of last year in Mallorca. Could you envisage living on the Island? Yes I could, but as a second home, not as my main residence. I like Mallorca very much, the climate is wonderful. I love the sea and lots of my friends live there. But at the moment, I am not planning to move. As long as I have so much work in Germany, it’s difficult. Sometimes I spend months on end in Hamburg. Apart from that, my children live in Germany. Moving to the Island would need a lot of thought. But what I can imagine is spending more time in Mallorca. Is there a part of Mallorca that you are particularly fond of? I’m afraid I don’t know Mallorca that well. But I always feel happy where my friends like Sonja Kirchberger live. I love the scenery and of course the sea, too. Its accessibility from Germany is another factor in the Island’s favour. And where do you feel most at home in Germany? I am a Berliner, through and through. I grew up in Magdeburg, so I know the West and I know the East, but Berlin is simply my city. Der „Clown“ liebäugelt mit Mallorca Knallharte Action war gestern: TV-Kommissar Sven Martinek („Morden im Norden“) denkt an eine Zweitwohnung auf der Insel. Dort könnte der Schauspieler auch seine sechs Kinder zusammenbringen, die in unterschiedlichen Teilen Deutschlands leben. Herr Martinek, Sie haben in vielen Ihrer früheren Filme die Rolle des Actionhelden übernommen. Woran lag das? Das war die hohe Zeit der Action-Formate, besonders damals beim „Clown“, den ich gespielt habe. Vier Jahre also, in denen wir da knallharte Action gemacht haben. Seitdem hat sich aber in der TV-Welt einiges verändert. Es waren ja sehr aufwendige Produktionen damals, da wurde richtig viel Geld investiert. Heute ist das kaum noch möglich, in der Branche wird an allen Ecken und Enden gespart. Wir fielen damals „Big Brother“ und „Wer wird Millionär“ zum Opfer, es wurden dann Einschaltquoten gefordert, die wir nicht mehr leisten konnten. Das Gute daran ist: Wir haben in der Hochzeit aufgehört, und das Format blieb in den Köpfen der Leute. Ich werde heute noch, wo ich hinkomme, auf den „Clown“ angesprochen. Warum halten sich denn Krimis im Fernsehen über viele Jahrzehnte?

Das ist weltweit so. Krimis werden immer gerne gelesen und gerne angeschaut. Es geht darin immer um extreme zwischenmenschliche Geschichten, die man sehr gut erzählen kann. Insofern ist das ein sehr dankbares Format. Auch wenn man sich Bücherläden anguckt, sieht man, dass ein großer Teil des Angebots aus Krimis besteht. Sie sind vor allem im deutschen Fernsehen aktiv. Hatten Sie je geplant, ins Ausland zu gehen? Deutsch ist meine Muttersprache. Ich träume auf Deutsch und bin in Deutschland als Schauspieler zu Hause. Ins Ausland, besonders in die USA, geht man auch nicht einfach so. Das ist dort ein knallhartes Geschäft, man geht durch eine Mühle von Castings, es wäre sehr schwer, darauf hinzuarbeiten. Zumal es meinen Typ Schauspieler dort bestimmt schon hundertmal gibt. In die USA wird man vielmehr eingeladen, so wie Christoph Waltz. Ich bewundere Christoph Waltz sehr, denn er

hat für seine erste US-Rolle in „Inglourious Basterds“ auch gleich einen Oscar bekommen. Damit war er mittendrin, aber das ist ein Fall, der vielleicht alle 50 Jahre einmal eintrifft. Wie bauen Sie Ihre Karriere in Deutschland aus? Ich drehe fortlaufend für unsere Krimiserie „Morden im Norden“, die jeden Dienstag in der ARD läuft. Die Serie spielt in Lübeck, und ich spiele wieder einen Kommissar, zusammen mit Ingo Naujoks. Wir sind ein sehr gutes Team. Ab März drehen wir wieder die Familienserie „Tierärztin Dr. Mertens“, wo ich den Kinderarzt Christoph Lentz spiele. Auch das macht mir Riesenspaß. Wie schaut es in Ihrer eigenen Familie aus? Sie sind Vater von sechs Kindern unterschiedlicher Mütter. Bringen Sie Ihre Kinder manchmal alle zusammen? Meine Kinder leben etwas verstreut und sind zum Teil in einem Alter, wo sie eigene Pläne verfolgen. Alle zusammenzubekommen ist schwierig, aber ab und zu klappt das. Dazu kommt noch Sophia Thomalla, die so etwas wie mein Stiefkind geworden ist. Und ihre Mutter, Simone Thomalla, ist heute eine meiner besten Freundinnen. Sie haben sich vergangenes Jahr auf Mallorca aufgehalten. Können Sie sich vorstellen, auf der Insel zu leben? Ja, das kann ich mir sehr gut vorstellen, nicht als Hauptwohnsitz, aber als zweites Standbein schon. Ich mag Mallorca sehr, das tolle Klima. Ich liebe das Meer, und es leben viele meiner Freunde da. Allerdings steht im Moment kein Umzug an. Solange ich noch so viel in Deutschland arbeite, ist das schwierig. Ich bin ja manchmal über Monate in Hamburg beschäftigt. Außerdem leben meine Kinder in Deutschland. Den Schritt, auf die Insel zu ziehen, überlegt man sich gut. Was ich mir aber vorstellen könnte ist, immer mehr Zeit auf Mallorca zu verbringen. Gibt es auf Mallorca eine Gegend, die es Ihnen besonders angetan hat? So gut kenne ich Mallorca leider nicht. Aber ich fühle mich dort wohl, wo meine Freunde wie etwa Sonja Kirchberger wohnen. Ich mag diese Landschaft und natürlich das Meer. Die gute Erreichbarkeit aus Deutschland ist ein weiterer Grund, der für die Insel spricht. Und wo fühlen Sie sich in Deutschland am wohlsten? Ich bin Berliner durch und durch. In Magdeburg bin ich aufgewachsen, ich kenne den Westen, ich kenne den Osten, aber Berlin ist einfach meine Stadt. Das pulsiert und lebt, und das mag ich schon sehr. Film director Christian Alvart chose a brunette Helene Fischer to play the part of Leyla alongside Til Schweiger’s Kommissar Tschiller. At the beginning of November the actor posted on his Facebook page: ‘Today was Helene’s first day filming on Tatort Hamburg ... and she was fantastic.” We will be able to see the singer in her first Tatort part, an “ambivalent and complex role’, on our television screens this autumn.

Regisseur Christian Alvart hatte sich für eine brünette Helene Fischer entschieden für ihre Verkörperung der „Leyla“ an der Seite von „Kommissar Tschiller“ Til Schweiger. Auf Facebook postete der Schauspieler Anfang November: „heute helenes erster drehtag bei tatort hamburg ... und sie war fantastisch.“ Im Herbst dieses Jahres wird die Sängerin in ihrer ersten „Tatort“-Folge zu sehen sein – in einer „ambivalenten, vielschichtigen Rolle”.

Construction work on Rafael Nadal’s new tennis centre in Manacor, his birthplace, started at the end of November 2014. The tennis player is investing 5 % of the total 15 million euros in the centre, which will bear his name. On a site of 45,000m2, the centre will house 14 tennis courts, a football pitch, a paddle tennis court and indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a gym with spa. 36 guest rooms for athletes who come to Manacor for training are planned, as well as a complex for talented young players from 8 years old, who in future will also be able to receive an education there. A school will be built that will prepare them for university. The opening is scheduled for mid-2016. Ende November 2014 wurden in Manacor, der Geburtsstadt des Tennisstars, die Bauarbeiten an seinem neuen Tenniscenter aufgenommen, in das Rafael Nadal selbst fünf Prozent der insgesamt 15 Millionen Euro investiert und das seinen Namen tragen soll. Das Gelände umfasst 45.000 Quadratmeter. Hier sollen 14 Tenniscourts, ein Fußballplatz, eine Paddel-Tennis-Anlage, Indoor- und Outdoor-Pools sowie ein Fitnessstudio mit Spa entstehen. Geplant sind zudem 36 Gästezimmer für Sportler, die zum Training nach Manacor kommen, sowie ein Komplex für junge Talente ab acht Jahren, die hier zukünftig ausgebildet werden können. Für sie wird eine eigene Schule eingerichtet, die sie auf die Universität vorbereitet. Die Eröffnung ist für Mitte 2016 geplant.

The Balearic Port Authorities (APB) are planning to convert six lighthouses in Mallorca into hotels. Three locations – Cap Blanc, Cap Gros and Capdepera – are to be taken over by German engineer Tim Wittenbecher. Together with his architect wife, he has already converted lighthouses in Germany into guest accommodation. The only difference is that in Mallorca the lighthouses will remain in commission and guests will stay not in the tower but in the keeper’s wing.

Hotels with Michelin stars At the beginning of November the Michelin Guide announced its stars for 2015. Two chefs at 5-star hotels in Mallorca were each awarded one coveted star: Rafael Sánchez, who last year succeeded Thomas Kahl at Es Fum at the St. Regis Mardavall, and Fernando P. Arellano at Zaranda at Hotel Castell Son Claret. Anfang November vergab der Guide Michelin die Sterne für 2015. very summer, innovative new products come onto the market for water sports fans who thought they had seen it all already. The ultimate must-have for the 2015 season is a Quadrofoil, a jet-ski with an electric motor that enables it to glide at speed over the water in almost complete silence and with minimal impact on the environment. The C-shaped hydrofoils allow the craft to ‘fly’ above the water reaching top speeds of 25mph (40 kph) without creating any waves, providing greater comfort for the driver, passenger and onlookers. The Quadrofoil also claims to be almost unsinkable. Its batterypowered motor costs less than 80p (1 euro) an hour to run and with a range of 62miles (100km) and two hours battery time, you can explore a wide range of places. Two models are available: the smaller Q2A model and the more powerful Q2S with a larger engine.

Wie jedes Jahr warten zum Sommerbeginn innovative Ideen auf die Wassersportler, die meinen, eigentlich schon alles gesehen zu haben. Für die Saison 2015 ist ein Quadrofoil bisher das ultimative Must-have, denn hier wird die Idee des Jetski mit einem elektrischen Antrieb versehen, der das Rasen übers Wasser nicht nur fast lautlos, sondern auch endlich umweltfreundlich macht. Durch die neuen Kufen „fliegt” man förmlich über das Meer (bei maximal 40 km/h), ohne dabei Wellen zu schlagen – mehr Genuss für Fahrer und Zuschauer. Zudem gilt der Quadrofoil als beinahe unsinkbar. Durch den Batterieantrieb kostet eine Stunde Cruisen nur einen Euro, mit 100 km Reichweite und zwei Stunden Akkulaufzeit kann man durchaus einige Ziele ansteuern. Zwei Modelle sind ab März 2015 lieferbar: das kleinere Q2A-Modell und das potentere Q2S mit stärkerem Motor.

The idea is not new but here it has been really elegantly implemented for the first time. The Schiller X1 is a water bicycle equipped with two black pontoons and two propellers that make it possible to ‘cycle’ on the sea at speeds of up to 10 knots. Its aluminium frame and multi-speed, pure rotary drive train with Gates Carbon Drive Belts complete its first class equipment. We haven’t seen any Schiller bikes in Mallorca so far, but we can well imagine that they would be perfect for taking a trip from the hotel to the next beach bar, with great sea views thrown in.
