GERMAN COMEDY The series of performances under the banner ‘Mallorca laughs – 2011 the summer of comedy’ is being concluded by the German comedians Cindy aus Marzahn (9th September) and Helge Schneider (28th October). They are being promoted by Starplay, who will once again bring the infamous ‘12 Tenors’ to the Island this December. FESTIVAL REI EN JAUME UNTIL 11TH SEPTEMBER 2011 The annual festival of the Rei en Jaume is celebrated in Santa Ponsa, Calvià from 27th August to 11th September, celebrating the successful landing and conquering of the Moors in Mallorca by King Jaime I in 1229. This year, the festive programme consists of more than 60 cultural, leisure and traditional activities such as concerts, exhibitions, nit de foc, a medieval market, thematic fiestas, parades, traditional dancing etc. Highlights include a parade of giants, a ‘night of fire’ and a medieval market. In der Bucht von Santa Ponsa wird dieses Ereignis jedes Jahr gebührend gefeiert mit einem mehrtägigen Programm bestehend aus mittelalterlichen Märkten, Konzerten, traditionellen Tanzgruppen, Ausstellungen, einer Nit de Foc (Nacht des Feuers) und den Umzügen der Gigantes, der bekannten mallorquinischen Riesenfiguren. Höhepunkt der Feierlichkeiten ist die Neuinszenierung der Landung des Königs an der Playa Grande & Calo d’en Pellicer und der siegreichen Schlacht, die am Samstag, den 10.
