EXCLUSIVELY FOR DELTA SIGMA PHI FOUNDATION DONORS INSIDE 2 EDUCATION ROUNDUP 3 GET INVOLVED IN CONVENTION 3 IRA GIVING 4 THANK YOU FROM MATT DOTY
“For the next two years, my education will be a major investment. The generosity of the McKee scholarship donors has helped to alleviate the stresses that come from the pressures of financing an education. The scholarship money that I received was used directly for my admissions expenses, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful. There is no doubt that the donors for this scholarship could have found another use for their money, but instead invested in the brothers of Delta Sigma Phi. This donation has helped me and others to focus on our education, and I’m forever thankful.” Matt Doty University of Oregon, ‘07 Matt Doty University of Oregon, ‘07

“All the birds have flown up and gone; A lonely cloud floats leisurely by. We never tire of looking at each other – Only the mountain and I.” – Li Po Poetry is infamous in the world of writing for the numerous shapes and forms it can come in. No matter the way it is written; however, each and every poem shares the same quality – evoking an image. They become a lens for seeing through the eyes of another. Few Delta Sigs understand that notion quite as well as Justin Wright, Transylvania University ’17. Justin was recently accepted in the Affrilachian Poets, a poetry society that seeks to reveal relationships linking familial roots, cultural influence and an inherent connection to the land. Through a nomination from a professor on campus, he underwent a rigorous selection process that included several interviews and the careful review of several of his personal works. His acceptance puts him in a league with an honor that only a few dozen other poets can claim.
Thank You...

to move into – Public Anthropology. His focus is on becoming a diversity liaison within his community through community engagement and social justice. Justin attended the 2015 Leadership Institute as a member of the Psi class. The experience helped motivate him to push harder and reach higher within his chapter and in his role as the Health and Wellness chair for the Beta Mu chapter. Leadership Institute stressed that Justin wasn’t lacking in any area – he just needed to flex the muscles of his lesser-used leadership styles. Leadership Institute has also helped him to improve at his job on campus as an intern to the Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at Transylvania University. Poetry has always been a core facet of life for Justin. (Continues on page 2)
