Through learning about and practicing the five exemplary leadership practices, I was able to improve my leadership skills. I especially felt like I improved my ability to enable my teammates to act through motivation and servant leadership. By utilizing what I learned at Leadership Institute, I hope to implement a new values based leadership program into my chapter at Kansas State University. I hope to model this plan after some of the sessions that I went to at Leadership Institute.

During his tenure as Executive Director, he has led the continuing drive to ensure that undergraduate member educational opportunities were exponentially increased; significantly expanded and improved the service and support to our chapters; grew our membership by 30%; improved our culture of volunteerism, engagement, and communication with our members; and restructured the organization by changing processes and building procedures that have ensured the longevity and sustainability of our Fraternity.

Patrick is a shining example of our Fraternity’s mission to Build Better Men. He has made an impact that matters not only to our Fraternity, but also the Greek community at large.

Leadership Institute Going Strong with Àß The Alpha Beta class of the Leadership Institute has recently graduated, marking the end of another fantastic year for the program.

From July 20th – 24th, 48 brothers from 36 different chapters descended upon Brookston, Indiana and retreated to the woods of Camp Tecumseh for the premiere leadership program. The undergraduates were joined by ten alumni who served as facilitators for the program.

Here’s what participants told us they wanted to achieve at LI: • “To discover the core values and the foundation of leadership and apply those in my life.”

• “I hope to develop more confidence in myself and my abilities. I have evidence and achievements supporting my great qualities, but I often struggle to believe in myself. By attending LI, I plan to emerge with the confidence in myself that I have earned.”

• “I hope to learn how to sharpen my skills as a leader in order to help my chapter grow.”

The program featured keynotes from Jim Larson, California Polytechnic State University ’72, current Grand Council National President; Ramsey Mankarious, Michigan State University ’87, CEO of Cedar Capital Partners in the UK; and Dr. Joe Bertolino, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania ’94, President of Southern Connecticut State University. These keynotes served as compliments to the constantlyimproving curriculum developed by Kristin Fouts, Director of Educational Initiatives, and Brittany Ankeny-Dooley, Assistant Director of Educational Programs.

The Leadership Institute is Delta Sigma Phi’s flagship educational program. This five-day institute offers an immersive experience that instills values-based leadership through curriculum centered on Kouzes and Posner’s, “The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.”

Introducing the Insula Society The Insula Society is the new monthly giving program for the Delta Sigma Phi Foundation. Any donor making a monthly contribution of $10 or more is automatically included! These funds will create a stable base for further improving our values-based leadership programs. Monthly contributions restricted to a specific chapter will also grant you membership to the Insula Society.

The founding chapter of Delta Sigma Phi – the Insula Chapter at the City College of New York – was the foundation on which this Fraternity was built. In that same fashion, we are seeking donors to become the cornerstone of the Foundation: the Insula Society.

Join us in welcoming Tim Meyer as our new Director of Finance! Tim comes from a long career of finance in the private sector, and is hoping to make Delta Sig the final stop on his career. He is passionate about fraternity, and will do a great job in ensuring the financial future of Delta Sigma Phi.

The past academic year saw the highest number of educational touch points in Delta Sig history!

Our overall touch points grew from

11,000 to 12,686 and our in-person touch points grew from

5,500 to 7,521 This growth in training opportunities is only possible because of your incredible generosity!

Tim and his wife live in Indianapolis. The couple are avid concert-goers, attending concerts from all bands and genres. He is replacing Carol Arenstein on staff, who entered retirement in June after 29 years on staff. Welcome, Tim! 02
