DEBRECEN The city of Debrecen has been considered as a city of permanence for long time. Not just because its cityscape has changed little over the centuries, but even more because the need for change has long been absent from the lives of Civic citizens, often captured by poets of recent centuries in their various works - often with bitter overtones. The transformation and modernization of the city has been underway since 1998, in addition to the current city administration's efforts to preserve the intellectual and material heritage of Calvinist Rome. Alongside the impressive buildings of the historic downtown, the renovation, design, filling of functions, life, parks, squares and pedestrian streets have been a priority as a consequence of the support of local entrepreneurs and residents, which are popular for visitors feeling of their share in Debrecen. Debrecen is in a period of constant change. The uninterrupted bustling downtown, the Great Forest promising peace and relaxation, cultural and culinary programs, festivals, national and international sport events result your stay here amusing.

HISTORICAL CITY CENTRE
Kossuth tér Famous fairs have been organized on the main squares and streets of cities throughout Europe for centuries. The reconstructed main square, part of the pedestrian zone of the city, was reopened in 2001. The square has been decorated by several fountains, representative flower plants - the square, being the venue of many large-scale events; the most famous occasion is the Debrecen Flower Carnival.
Great Reformed Church The largest Reformed Church in Hungary welcomes visitors throughout the year with interactive exhibitions.
Small Reformed Church The roof of the temple covered by a bulbous dome originally, was turned into a bastion. Therefore, the locals call it "stump church." It can be visited by prior arrangement.
Grand Hotel Aranybika
OLD POST GUEST HOUSE
Located in the heart of Debrecen, next to the Great Church, this old-style hotel was built in 1915 in Art Nouveau style by the architect Alfréd Hajós, the first Hungarian Olympic champion.
One of the oldest buildings in the city is the Old Post Restaurant and Inn, built in the 1690s and its most famous guest was XII. Charles, the King of Sweden in 1714.
MUSEUM

Déri Múzeum The museum's collection has grown steadily over the centuries, and today it is one of the most important museums and institutions in the country. Mihály Munkácsy's world-famous Christ Trilogy is a major attraction, as well as permanent thematic exhibitions on several levels and in different halls.
Calvinist College of Debrecen The Great Library contains the most valuable works and collections of advanced sciences of different historical periods. Its oratory has been declared a national monument.
Ferenc Medgyessy Memorial Museum The well-known sculptures, drawings and reliefs of Ferenc Medgyessy's legacy are exhibited in chronological order, found during the reconstruction of the sculptor's studio.
MODEM There is a unique exhibition representing the contemporary art and one of the 20th century as well as, progressive endeavors of contemporary fine arts and visual culture, the most significant domestic and international works.
Post Museum There is also an exhibition on the history of the postal and communication services of Debrecen. In the center of the hall a historical post office is disposed. Original tools and documents, old forms are displayed here on the shelves.

GREAT FOREST
Nagyerdei Víztorony
With a unique nightclub and community area, a tourist experience center, guests may enjoy panoramic views of the city from the 34-meter high viewpoint and try the outdoor climbing wall. From May to the end of September, the Water Tower Garden, surrounded by the trees of the Nagyerdő, offers outdoor concerts and wine festivals.
Lake Froggy
Haze Theatre
The lake is made attractive by fountains, piers and bridges. Its surroundings are provided by sun loungers, sunbathing areas, children's playgrounds and bicycle paths as a means of spending time and picnicking.
Get to know the history of the city with short films displayed on the fountain's water spray, giving opportunity to see different laser animations, short films.

Strolling through the huge trees, you will find statues of many celebrities in Debrecen, as well as several "turn-of-thecentury" villas that evoke the atmosphere of those years.

Great Forest Culture Park The zoo of 17 hectares exhibits some 900 specimens of 170 species of five continents. The slot machines of the amusement park next to the Zoo provides pleasant relaxation even in the heat of summer.
Great Forest Open-Air Theatre The visitors may enjoy beautiful woodland, with a wealth of performing arts genres of nearly fifty cultural programs each year, from May to September.

BLACKSMITH WORKSHOP Throughout our history many men of military valour have stayed or lived for short or long in the village of Álmosd. Several blcksmith workshops have been run to serve both these men of war and the inhabitants. The only workshop that actually worked even in the 1970`s can now be visited with its entire equipment and many crafted articles too. The owner was Mihaly Mucsi, the last working master Álmosd, Rákóczi u. 2. +36 52 388 035 blacksmith of the village. The workshop was acquired by Closed: Mo. Open: Tu- Su.: 8:00-12:00 the Conservation Committee and the village in 1981.

BOCSKAI MEMORIAL The name of Álmosd is acknowledged as the scene of the battle of the Bocskai War or Independence lead by Istvan Bocskai, won on the 15th October 1604. One of the most monumental memorials of the war was dedicated here in the outskirts of the village in 1996, as a result of the liaison between the Association of Hajdu Cities and the village. The article is a work of sculpturer Lajos Győrfi Álmosd and was crafted on site. Public access is free.

KÖLCSEY MEMORIAL HOUSE From all the resindences of the writer of our national anthem, Ferenc Kölcsey, this country mansion from the 18th century has survived alone, relative intact. He spent part his childhood here and the years from 1812 to 1815. His siblings were born here and both parents passed away here. POST-MAIL ART EXHIBITION Both exhibitions were opened on the 8th August in 2000 and 2001, on the birthday of Kölcsey, at No 26 Kölcsey street and No 7 Fő street. The creation of both exhibitions were sponsored by the artist Joseph Kadar, painter of Hungarian origin living in Paris. In 2002 he offered a part of his private collection of paintings and photos in memory of his maternal gtrand parents who Álmosd, Kölcsey u. 26. had lived at Álmosd.
