NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Our mission of providing hope to deaf children in poverty is birthed out of a wonderful story in the Bible in Luke 10:30-37. The Good Samaritan in the story helped a man in need. In verse 34 it states, “He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘It is 'look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.

We at Deaf Child Hope are in a way partnering with “innkeepers” all around the globe who are “looking after” deaf children in need. We are also partnering with child and teacher sponsors, and supporters, which is you, as you are helping us to pay the innkeepers who are caring for and teaching the deaf children. And there are times you help us with the “extra expenses” like the Good Samaritan did in this story. Thank you for believing in us and for supporting our mission. Together, with your help, we provided hope to deaf children in poverty in 2023! Thank you! ~ JD

INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST STAFF MEMBERS WHO JOINED TEAM DCH IN 2023

IN 2023 THE MARISOL MEMORIAL MEDICAL CARE FUND WAS ESTABLISHED

Marisol was a deaf little girl who was growing up in Mexico and attending a wonderful school for deaf children. Marisol died very young of kidney complications. Her death was preventable and if she had been born in the United States, less than 10 miles north of where she lived, she likely would still be with us today. But her family did not have access to the resources and medical care needed to save her. The school helped fundraise and there were plans to get her the surgery she needed in Texas, but she passed away before the operation could happen. This heart-breaking story should remind us of the perilous situation that children in poverty face. It is very important that the deaf children at our partners have access to medical care when they need it. Because of this we established the Marisol Memorial Medical Care Fund. We pray this fund will be able to provide for medical needs of deaf children in poverty when the needs arise.

MEMORIALS

Many memorial donations were given to Deaf Child Hope in memory of Blaine McCollough, JD's father-in-law, who passed last summer. Blaine and his wife Bonnie have supported Deaf Child Hope from it's founding. A generous memorial was given by the David Follett National Christian Foundation in memory of Gracyn Follett. Thank you for these wonderful memorial gifts.

LANCES DEAF ORPHANS IN

2023

It was January 14th of 2014 that we received one of the first emails regarding Lance's Deaf Orphans in Kenya. That is 10 years ago! We were approached by Lance McWilliams, the founder, and he was looking for an organization to assume the responsibility and leadership for an orphanage of approximately 25 deaf orphans on about one acre of land in the Kisii, Kenya region. We prayed about it, had a board meeting about it, and we said "YES" to this endeavor. There have been many challenges as well as many milestones and progress to celebrate. Deaf children have found hope at Lance's Deaf Orphans!

We want to share just a few photos of a new home that was built this year for Winston, Lance's Deaf Orphans Director, and his family. We had a generous donor give to this project, and we were able to double this amount from the LDO fund in order for Winston to provide a home for his family. Winston has made many sacrifices to lead LDO, and we are grateful to him and his Godly leadership.

DCH MISSION 2023 TRIPS

Through our DCH mission trips our hope is that both those traveling and the deaf children and teachers they come in contact with on the trip will be blessed by the interaction on the trip. The goal of our trips is for the travelers to do life alongside deaf children in poverty, to experience first-hand what deaf children in poverty experience daily. We had two great trips in 2023, one to Jamaica and one to Mexico. Lots of great memories were made, deaf children were served, and some new friendships were formed. Jamaica
