Home sweet home for Ann Thompson family! "Every night I go to bed and thank God for putting this opportunity and these people in my life." Ann Thompson Thursday, December 27 was the Thompson's first night in the house. "It felt amazing," said Ann. "It is so nice to know that it is mine and I can do with it as I please. It has given us a renewed sense of pride. There is a certain amount of pride that comes with owning your own home, and I have that once again."
What do you like best about the house? Habitat executive director Kevin Worden hands the keys to the new home in Mantorville to Ann Thompson. They officially closed on the home the end of December.

"The kids are very conscious about the new rules in the house-no eating in the living room, picking up their rooms daily, etc. They are a little more willing to follow the rules because of their own sense of pride. I like the light of the home. The sun shines in the south windows and lights up the whole home. I like the smell of everything being new."
Dodge County agent for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Jeremy Hunze, was one of the guests who addressed the large crowd gathered inside the home. Thrivent is providing 55% of the financial support for the home and one of the stipulations was the family had to of moved in by the end of the 2012 year. "May the Thompson family find rest, refreshment and renewal within and outside these walls. May this house and yard represent a home filled with love," said Hunze. When Habitat executive director Kevin Worden turned over the keys to Ann Thompson he said, "These keys symbolize a new beginning". In 2013 Dodge Center will look forward to the construction of a third Habitat home build in Dodge County. A lot has already been secured. "The people in the Dodge Center area and one special family will have a great deal to look forward to," said Worden.
A group of students and parents from the Rochester Central Lutheran School attended the Habitat dedication. They brought boxes of gifts and food for the Thompson family.

Saturday, December 8 was the dedication for the Ann Thompson family home build. There were many tears of joy and a strong show of support for the family. An Olmsted County 4-H member, Tim Jirik, donated a refurbished lawn mower to the Thompson family. This was the third Habitat home that has received a donated mower from him. A group of students and parents from the Rochester Central Lutheran School attended and brought several boxes of food and gifts. Pastor Karen Seavey, from Kasson United Methodist Church and Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church presented Ann with a $450 gift card for Houston's Greenhouse & Gift for landscaping next spring. Sara Marquardt and Nancy Naatz presented quilts to the family made by their respective clubs. These are a few examples of the acts of kindness for Ann Thompson and her three children, Alex (14), Riley (11) and Sam (6).
