business directory Name change to Total Auto & Tire is a reflection of what Zumbrota business offers Former Zumbrota business OK Tire Store has undergone a facelift and name change to Total Auto & Tire. Accountant and marketing manager Paul Mecikalski said the name change gives the public a better understanding of what they offer at the Zumbrota store. Total Auto & Tire is owned by Bill Suchy. He also has a store in Long Prairie and the name is Total Tire & Auto. The Zumbrota store has 10 employees and they work out of a 30,000 square foot building that is just off of highway 52 in Zumbrota. They are currently looking for two more employees, a tire tech and general automotive person. Paul's goal is to "grow" the store by five employees and increase business 10-15% in 2013. Total Auto & Tire is housed in a former implement dealership that sat empty until Bill Suchy bought the building and started the business seven years ago. Throughout his career Paul has been employed in accounting in large business, small business and startup companies. "The big corporation was not for me," said Paul. "This is a great place to work with people who care about the work they do." Under the previous name many customers assumed they only did tires. Tires are a big part of what they offer, but they also have full service auto and truck repair and DOT inspections. They are currently running a couple of April specials. If a customer spends over $200 for any repair Total Auto & Tire will pay the sales tax. The other April special is an oil change, tire balance, tire rotation, alignment check, four wheel brake inspection and free courtesy inspection, all for $45.95. They have an everyday oil change for $17.88. Firestone is also offering a "Hit Paydirt" farm tire rebate where a customer can get up to $800 back on up to eight rear radial tires.

Paul points out the name may have changed, but the same great service has not. He believes the strength of Total Auto & Tire continues to be customer satisfaction and a knowledgeable staff. Because of that they do have many loyal customers. Paul believes once a customer pays them a visit they will return. Farmers make up nearly 70% of the business at Total Auto & Tire. "In the spring and fall we get them what they need so they can get back into the field," said Paul. "We are competitive in price and don't compromise on our level of service." As part of the relaunch Total Auto & Tire will have an open house Friday, April 12 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday Laser 101 will broadcast live and there will be a band. Saturday FOX will broadcast live. Both open houses will offer food, refreshments and drawings for Total Auto & Tire gift cards. Dodge County 4-H Project Bowl competition The second largest attended event during the 4-H year is the Project Bowl competition. Patterned after the goldenoldie television show "College Bowl," it challenges teams of three to six youth in their knowledge of certain 4-H project areas. Currently there are seven different bowls: Dairy, Dog, General Livestock, Horse, Poultry, Rabbit and Wildlife. There are four Regional Bowls followed by the State Bowl. For each bowl there are two divisions, junior and senior. Junior teams are composed of 4-H’ers in grades three through eight and senior teams are composed of members in grades four through 4H graduation (12+1). Regional winners advance to the State Bowl and state winners in dairy, general livestock, horse, and poultry go on to national contests. This year Dodge County 4H had a senior and junior Dog Project Bowl Team to compete at the Regional Bowl contest held in Farmington, MN on March 9th. The Senior team placed fifth while the Junior team placed sixth.
