Narrative Essay

The day I met the snow.

Everything started at 28th July 2022, my boyfriend and I finally decided to visit his family in Chile, what we didn’t know was that the place they lived, was very cold. Nothing was as planned, that’s why I decided to tell a little bit about this day.

At exactly 6pm on that day we take the plane, then, ours later we had to take 2 buses and another plane, finally we arrive there the next day so many hours later. Due to that the second day my boyfriend had jetlag so, he could not sleep, but as I was so happy to be in a little cottage house while I see the snow through my window, I sleep happily.

Three days later, when we had a little bit of energy, we went to meet the animals that were there, like sheep and “guanacos” and in the evening we went shopping since we needed comfortable clothes for the weather.

On August 10th the wild activities begin, my boyfriend’s family take us to do Kayak in Aysen, but it was too cold it was hard to move our arms, finally, the next day we were to explore Glacier Grey.

What I enjoy the most on this trip was getting to know amazing people and trying new dishes, also, the places I enjoy the most to meet, were the different lakes which are a lot.

Therefore, this was one of the best trips I’ve ever done, it was important to me to talk about it because I have always wanted to see the snow but I didn’t have the chance until now, and now that I have finally made it, I’m sure I will do it again in any time I can. Even though the path was very tiring and the weather wasn’t what I’m used to.

Based Project Learning

“A teaching model that organizes learning around projects” what could be different from the ordinary teaching method? Based Project Learning is a teaching methodology used to promote knowledge and skills in students, where they had to investigate and find a solution or an answer to a complex question or real-world problem. This teaching method could be used in any ambit, but it Is mainly for the little kids in primary school for them to learn since they are kids to develop autonomy, and critical thinking, among other benefits. In the next paragraphs, we will find out more about the effectiveness, some characteristics and, reasons to use the method.

To put in practice this teaching methodology we need to be aware of what is and the process to reach the goal successfully.

First, it is important to mention that this methodology was created to promote learners’ skills such as self-autonomy, and critical thinking and teach the students to learn to solve real world problems by themselves, also it promotes social skills, group work and considers the others’ opinions. Then, to start using the method the teacher creates groups and gives an important question or topic based on real world situations, for example, a question like “what would you propose to help people before or after a natural disaster”? depending on the level of the education we can use easier or harder questions. Finally, when the challenge is set up the students need to follow some steps. For example, first, the teacher needs to bring the students prior knowledge and encourage the group to deeply investigate the problem, and set the outline or the first brainstorm all together, then they have to develop the project with all the information and at the end ,they need to present the final propose or solution. It is also important to mention that this project could last from a week to a semester.

In addition, I would like to mention some other characteristics of the methodology, some different uses and, the benefits of the implementation of it.

First, it is important to mention that the project provides the opportunity for the student to raise her/his voice and to take their choice in the process and the final product, it is especially necessary for shy persons. In fact, there are many ways to use the Based Project learning, for example, it could be used to emphasize a problem to design specific scenarios, and even using physical artifacts. In another hand, when it comes to the benefits, we could mention that there is evidence shown in the students that BPL has helped them become more creative, collaborative, it becomes easier to solve problems, and the selfconfidence becomes bigger.

As a teacher, I would like to put this into practice, why? Here I present the reasons. First reason would be because I’m a very shy person and I think to put this methodology into practice is an amazing way to transform the shyness into group work, ideas interchange and selfconfidence. Besides, I would love to promote in my students the creativity, the investigation and, information research, I know if I put this in practice, I would probably ask my students to create something crafty and handmade and at the end present the proposal in a dynamic way. To sum up, what I like the most about this teaching method, is that it is a great way to get out of the routine and the regular teaching activities.

In conclusion, it has been proved that the methodology is effective and that it helps to develop the learners in different aspects, as a teacher it is important to improve and not always use the same routine.

Argumentative essay

Private schools are better than public schools.

As a parent, t is crucial to take a good decision on our child’s education so we don’t take regrets in the future, also, it is important to know about the differences and the pros and cons of both options when we talk about private and public schools, nowadays having a lot of options there is sometimes common that the parents have a hard time deciding since there are great schools that are private and have a lot of variety inside of their curriculum, but there is also amazing public school who could help our children not only on the education but on the personal growth. Next, we are going to see the pros and cons of the public school, emphasizing the benefits It has.

First, in many public schools, the government assigns scholarship helps to a selected group of students, the ones who need It the most, nowadays after the pandemic, that help seems to have increased since some families have lost some sources, with this scholarship the students are able to buy some school supplies, clothes and/or even food for their houses. More than 1.7 million fellowships and private scholarships in the United States are awarded each year (Dickler, 2020).

Second, it is important for our children to raise in a different cultures, also children should learn to live with other ethnic and races, in public schools, on the contrary from the privates ones, there is a lot of type of races and our children could learn to live with them and to learn about the cultures around the world, these means not only a positive thing in the psychosocial ambit, but also improves tolerance in the children, avoids racism, and discrimination.

After that, one of the strongest cons of the public school is the building problems, a part of the public schools has poor buildings, most of them lack space, in the places that are too hot, there is no A/C, appropriate spaces for some activities or adequate order. Still, this doesn’t mean that the place could fall apart, most of them are available

for the use of children. “We cannot expect our children to raise themselves up in schools that are literally falling down.” (Clinton, 2016)

To sum up, my position is still the same, the benefits of the help of the scholarship and the personal growth due to the different cultures that children will experience, to me is bigger than the small problems some public schools had in their buildings. It is important that our children learn in a comfortable place, but it is also important for them not only to learn but to be and live with different people.
