Hello and welcome to Hononegah Community High School’s Performing Arts Center for our fall production of Clue: High School Edition. Your support of local theatre and of the arts in education does not go unnoticed and is of the utmost value to the students, faculty, and administration. Thank you! Before I made the decision to make Clue this year’s fall production, I knew that, like any other production, it would bring its own unique challenges. Specifically, we needed the set to accommodate the interior of Boddy Manor, the mansion in which the entire play takes place. Mr. Bond, with the assistance of our Theatre classes and build crew, constructed two 16-foot diameter turntables, each divided into three equilateral sections. Each turntable is hand-operated, so every time one of them rotates, please know that there are several crew members playing what looks like a game of tug-of-war backstage as they pull to move each turntable. There are so many elements I love about Clue: the over-the-top humor, the board game on which the play is based, the cult classic film with Tim Curry as Wadsworth.
However, there is also an important lesson overarching the play. From the onset, we learn that the play is set against the backdrop of McCarthyism, a time of mass hysteria, false accusations, and blacklisting in the U.S. These characters navigate that world, and while Clue approaches the issue using comedy, hundreds of lives and careers were destroyed during the McCarthyism era. While the so-called “goal” of that time was to protect the ideals of freedom, ironically, it did more harm than good, and the phenomenon metastasized into a crazed witch-hunt to silence any of its opponents. The characters in Clue are quick to blame one another for the mysterious murders that take place at Boddy Manor, mirroring the real-life accusations sweeping Washington at the time.
While the guests are guilty, it’s later revealed that there was a larger, underlying plot to frame them all along. The characters distractedly point fingers, but there is a more sinister and formidable power at work to keep them divided and untrustworthy of each other. Perhaps we can learn from their experiences and remember that we are always stronger and smarter when we’re united. Thank you, and enjoy the show.
–Mr. Christian Frieden

It’s a dark and stormy night, and you’ve been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well, dead. So whodunit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, CLUE is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist.

She has also performed as ensemble in Hononegah’s past musicals, Once Upon a Mattress and Mary Poppins. Irelyn is involved in the rugby team and creates her own costumes, as well as draws and sings in her free time. Enjoy the show!
Genesis Dibble
Build Crew, Member of Props and Costumes
Genesis is so happy to be working in her 7th show for Hononegah! Genesis has been in the theatre scene for Hononegah since she was a kid doing sewing, making props, building and painting sets, designing lighting and being a board operator! Genesis is also a part of the Rugby team and this will be her 7th season. In her spare time she plays electric guitar and works on her car. Enjoy the show!
Aubrey Hartweck
Lighting Technician, Member of Props and Costumes
Aubrey is thrilled to be involved in her 4th show with Hononegah Theatre! She has been involved in all Hononegah Fall Plays since her freshman year, including Harvey, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Failure: A Love Story, and now Clue! Aubrey is so grateful for all of the memories she has made with the cast and crew of every show throughout her time in high school. She would like to give a special shout-out to her friends and family who have been supporting her endlessly through her entire theatre journey at Hononegah. Take pains! Be perfect! Adieu!
David Houha
Lighting Technician
David has been in six shows before this, and he is very excited to do lighting and loves doing theater!
Baylie Hutchens

Baylie is very excited to be in her 5th show at Hononegah. She is also very into music and choir. Hope you enjoy the show!!

Keira Jones

She has previously been on stage for the past 5 Hononegah mainstage shows, and despite not being on stage, is thrilled to be helping backstage with such an amazing show. She hopes you enjoy the captivating mystery of Clue!
Jackson Lawyer
Sound Board Operator
Jackson is excited to be helpful for this, his 7th show, as part of the audio crew. He has been in charge of microphones backstage for the last 4 shows, including Once Upon a Mattress and Addams Family. Jackson also plays baritone in marching band and euphonium in concert band; he is a member of the Thespian Society and a Life Scout in Boy Scouts. He hopes each of you enjoys this Hononegah High School performance.
Maddox Lester
Assistant Stage Manager Apprentice
Maddox is so excited to be involved in his 5th show at Hononegah. This is his first show doing crew, and he has enjoyed seeing more parts of Hononegah Theatre. In his spare time, he likes to listen to music, sing, play guitar, and meow at cats.
Nina McClung
Dramaturgy
Nina, a senior turned unprofessional historian, is so excited to have worked on her last play a Hononegah! She loves history (and telling people they’re wrong...), so she knew dramaturgy was right for her. She’s had so much fun working on Clue, and she knows you’ll enjoy the show!
Rian Nosbisch
Wadsworth
Rian is ecstatic for their 5th show with HHS (7th overall). If Rian had a nickel for every time they played an iconic butler in a HHS show they would now have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. (Lurch, Addams Family and Wadsworth, Clue) Rian is also currently in YTP’s The Play That Goes Wrong as Jonathan(Nov.21-22). Enjoy THE GAME!!

Kaitlyn ‘Splinky’ Ogden
Member of Props and Costumes, Head of Props
Splinky has been in theater for 4 years now, the whole time being with props and costumes. She has worked very hard to be the prop head this year and is very excited to be doing it. Splinky does a lot of activities in the school, including SOAR, Student Council, and International Thespian Society. Outside of school, Splinky likes to spend time with her family, go camping, and travel to new places. She is very sad to be leaving Hononegah’s theater, but hopes to continue theater in college and on. This experience has been the best time of her life, and she has made so many memories and forever friendships. She hopes everyone enjoys the show and appreciates all the hard work everyone has put into making it happen!
Toria Owens
Mrs. White
Toria is very excited to be performing in her 3rd show on the Hononegah stage! Toria has previously been in Failure: A Love Story as the door, paddle boat captain, and chorus, and has also been in Once Upon a Mattress as part of the ensemble. Toria is also involved with The Paranormal Investigators club at Hono. Toria would like to thank her family for supporting her interests and being there as a warm face in the audience. Toria would also like to thank her friends for also being supportive and making every day a great day. Finally, Toria would like to thank the Friedens for giving her the opportunity to perform in these past three productions at Hononegah and making this community in Theatre the friendliest place to be. Hope you enjoy the show!
Landon Sumner
Build Crew
Landon is really excited to be a part of his 3rd show! He has been in crew for Failure: A Love Story and was in the Ensemble for Once Upon A Mattress. Landon was also involved in Baking Club. What Landon does in his spare time is that he loves hanging out with friends, traveling, taking care of cats, game creating, and watching plays/musicals. Landon hopes that you’ll enjoy the show!
Molly Vosberg
Member of Props and Costumes, Head of Costumes
This is Molly’s 7th show backstage at Hononegah. She is very excited to be trusted to be the Head of Costumes for Props and Costumes. Between work and school, she has put in a lot of work to help others during the show.
