Dear Davis Academy Families:
The2022-2023 school year has come to a close. It has been an incredible year full of spirit, learning, laughter, and much celebration. As we reflect on all that has taken place, we are extremely proud of and grateful for what we have accomplished collectively during this school year and over the course of our 30-year history.
The culmination of our 30th year celebrates the Class of 2023, who join almost 1,500 graduates who have made their journey through the halls of The Davis Academy and are now scattered across Atlanta’s high schools, our nation’s colleges, and around the globe.
Couple this celebration with the spirit days we shared on the 30th of every month in honor of our 30th anniversary, our schoolwide Day of Service, Night of the Arts, first-ever Alumni Babies Lil Shabbat and our Community Celebration, and this year will certainly be one to remember.
One of the most satisfying aspects of this extraordinary year was connecting with so many special people in our community who are linked by our shared history. It was an opportunity to offer our appreciation to those who built our school from the ground up – from our visionaries and founders to pioneer families, past presidents, former professional and lay leadership, alumni and their families. Generations of leaders and supporters have helped us reach this milestone and we are forever grateful for their vision, dedication and belief in our school. The Davis Academy is not only a place that is unique and forward-thinking, it is also a place that changes lives. Now those are things worth celebrating!
As we close out this 30th anniversary year, we thank each of you for your trust, involvement and support, all of which enable us to ensure that The Davis Academy remains a jewel in our Jewish community, a model for other communities, and a school that is known not only in Atlanta, but throughout the country for excellence, innovation, and achievement. That is what we set out to be 30 years ago, and we will continue to strive for 30 years from now. Thank you for being a part of our past, our present, and our future.
We hope that you enjoy this special 30th Anniversary Issue of the Journey Magazine, which includes a snapshot of the happenings and events at The Davis Academy and a special Alumni Journey insert, celebrating and highlighting the successes of all of our graduates.

From Alphabet Weddings to Culinary Creations: Kindergarten Students Thrive Through Hands-On Learning!
Kindergarten students are full of energy, curiosity, and wonder, always eager to explore and discover the world around them. That’s why hands-on learning opportunities are essential for their development. What seems like playtime is a purposeful and exciting educational experience. For instance, when our students read “The Mitten” by Jan Brett, they were inspired to create their own Rube Goldberg Machines in the Innovation and Design Studio. In language arts, they brought the alphabet to life by dressing up as letters and even threw a fancy wedding for Q and U to learn about the “qu” spelling pattern. When practicing sequencing words, they baked delicious pretzels at Young Chefs Academy while being introduced to a world of culinary creativity. With these interactive and experiential learning activities, our young learners develop problem-solving abilities, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love for learning!
Math Champions
Another great year of mathematics competitions has resulted in great learning and fantastic achievement at local and national levels in the Online Math League, Continental Math League, and Noetic Math League. Of note, Jordan Goldstein (5th) and Eli Bier (7th) received national honor recognition for their Fall Noetic Competition. Additionally, The Davis Middle School Math Team was the regional champion of the Continental math league with a team of Eli Bier, Fiona Greenbaum, Scott Hopkins, Sydney Serotta, Jack Solomon, and Charlie Zell.
Second Graders Celebrate a Milestone and Spread Joy
Second graders reached a special milestone on their Davis journey! They each received their first prayer book, the Siddur, personally inscribed and beautifully decorated by their parents. They have been learning much about prayers and songs and shared their newfound knowledge with their families at a special Kabbalat HaSiddur ceremony. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication! To spread their joy and kindness, they brought their siddurim to share with elderly residents at Berman Commons. What a wonderful way to make a positive impact on their community!
Monstrous Fun Through Descriptive Writing
Get ready to meet some friendly monsters! Our 3rd graders had a blast learning about descriptive writing through a fun, hands-on activity. Students got to design their own friendly monsters and use creative writing techniques to describe them. But that’s not all! Parents were invited to the classrooms to draw those monsters based on their child’s descriptions. It was hilarious and entertaining as parents and students compared the drawings. Then, parents helped their children add more descriptions and correct any errors. This activity was a total hit!
Go Lions!
The Baseball Team, under the leadership of Coach Nathan Wagner and Assistant Coach Andrew Acker ‘10, concluded their season with an impressive record of 10-2. Not to be outdone, coaches Matt Barry and Sean Coffey led the Track and Field Team in a phenomenal performance at the MAAC Track & Field Championships, with the girls’ team finishing in 4th place and the boys’ team placing as runners-up among 13 competing teams. We recognize the outstanding achievements of Marisa Ragghianti, Dillon Pinsker, Jackson Powers, and Jared Katz, who represented us at the Middle School State Meet, competing in events 400, 800, 1600, and Pole Vault.
Exploring the Westward Expansion with Robotics: A Revolutionary Way to Learn Social Studies!
What happens when social studies and robotics come together? Combining the two fields opens up a whole new world of learning opportunities. When 5th graders learned about the Westward Expansion, they researched and mapped out settlers’ journeys in the 19th century. Then, they used their coding skills to program robotic spheres to retell and demonstrate the details of these journeys in new and exciting ways. By using robotics to bring historical events and cultural practices to life, students are more likely to be invested in their learning and provide new ways to explore and demonstrate their understanding of complex topics.
Future-Ready through Science and Innovation
Students are fascinated with the problem-solving skills they develop in the science and innovation labs. During the spring, third graders conducted experiments and found a scientific way to clean polluted water. They also studied the behavior of sound and light, using tuning forks and completing light mazes. Additionally, they learned how to manipulate light by designing snowflakes using circuits and LED lights. (Yes, this is 3rd grade science!). Fourth graders studied germination by comparing seeds’ growth in light and darkness. It is fascinating to see Davis students developing the skills they will need to engage in a world increasingly dependent on science and technology.
Record-breaking Tzedakah:
Davis Students Celebrate Purim by Giving
Davis students had an amazing Purim celebration this year thanks to our PTO volunteers and teachers, who planned a fantastic event filled with fun, games, and special treats. But that’s not all – our students also demonstrated their commitment to tikkun olam (healing the world) by packing 112 Mishloach Manot boxes for JF&CS clients with the help of the PTO’s Tzedek Committee and Purim Committee Chairs. These boxes, filled with treats and heartfelt messages, were delivered to 10 Holocaust survivors, 60 One Good Deed clients, and 42 individuals with intellectual disabilities. To expand our giving, we included our 6th graders in the annual 2nd-grade-led bake sale this year. This helped shatter all previous records for food collection by several hundred pounds to restock the shelves of our local Kosher Food Pantry. We are so proud of our students for their acts of tzedek (righteousness) and generosity.
6th Graders Create Personalized Torah Pointers with World-Renowned Artist
As part of Project Impact, 6th grade students created their own personalized Yads (Torah pointers) through the world-renowned Jewish artist, Gary Rosenthal. Using their artistic skills and imagination, the students crafted stunning glass mosaics that were fused onto metal. These unique and meaningful creations will be used by the students at their upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah and will undoubtedly become treasured family heirlooms for generations to come.
Tech Pioneers Experience the Thrill of Live Television Production
Our Middle School Tech Pioneers took an eye-opening trip to the WSB TV station. They had the opportunity to see a functioning newsroom and talk to the crew, news anchors, and a meteorologist about the process of producing a news segment. In addition, they got in front of the camera and filmed their own segment. Students were thrilled to see themselves on screen and learn about the technical aspects of filming and producing a news segment. This unique behind-thescenes experience was inspiring and gave a taste of what it’s like to work in the dynamic fields of media, journalism, and broadcasting.
Middle School Takes a Stand Against Hate and Discrimination by Signing the “No Place for Hate Pledge”
The “No Place for Hate Pledge” is a pledge created by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to promote a positive and inclusive school environment, free of hate, bias, and discrimination. Schools and organizations participate in the program by signing the pledge and committing to a series of activities and initiatives that promote respect and understanding among all members of the community. This spring, middle school students, faculty, and staff came together to sign the pledge, empowering them to seek understanding from all people and to speak up against prejudice and discrimination. We are proud of the commitment to take concrete actions to combat hate and promote inclusivity.
Night of the Arts
The Davis Academy’s Night of the Arts was a magical evening filled with celebration and appreciation for visual and performing arts. Families were delighted by the Art Exhibition, which showcased over 350 stunning pieces created by Mechina - 8th Grade students, including 3D sculpture displays that were awe-inspiring. The concert that followed featured the Lower School and Middle School choirs, multiple Middle School fusion bands, and several Davis International Thespian Society members, who put on a truly unforgettable performance. Mazel Tov to our passionate artists, musicians and performers who shared their talent and creativity!
Exploring Atlanta’s Diverse Faiths: Seventh Graders Embark on an Unforgettable Journey
The adventure of a lifetime awaited the seventh graders as they set out on a journey to explore the diverse faiths in our Atlanta community. The students connected their World Religions unit of study to real-life experiences by visiting faith leaders and touring holy sites. Their enthusiasm and fascination peaked as they stepped inside The Roswell Community Masjid, The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Mandir, and Ebenezer Baptist Church, each with its own distinct charm and aura. The trip was an eye-opening and thrilling experience that will stay with the students for years to come!
Bringing Smiles to Children in Need
The 5th grade students were leaders in spearheading the collection of new and gently used backpacks to donate to the campers of Camp Jenny. The camp is a unique experience for less fortunate children who cannot afford summer camp, and Camp Jenny relies on donations to provide this opportunity. The 5th Grade led the school-wide Camp Jenny Backpack drive and received an overwhelming and generous response from our Davis kehillah
Atlanta Opera and Student Puppeteers Amaze with Hansel and Gretel Performance
What an incredible experience for Mechina through 8thgrade students as they were treated to a magnificent opera performance! The Atlanta Opera’s Studio Tour brought a breathtaking adaptation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel to The Davis Academy’s Rosenberg Family Theatre, directed by the talented Atlanta Opera Studio Artists alumna Brenna Corner. Adding to the excitement, the performance also featured our very own Davis theatre students Ashtyn Bens, Molly Levy, Addy Spiegelman, Jolie Thaler, Juliet Ratner, Janey Wenner, and Noa Zilber, who served as puppeteers on stage alongside the Atlanta Opera’s professional artists. Bravo!
Under the direction of Kendrick Phillips, Director of Visual and Performing Arts at The Davis Academy, almost 160 cast and crew members in Mechina through 8th grade, took the stage of the Rosenberg Performing Arts Theatre, to present its 19th musical production, The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition!
10 The Davis Academy | davisacademy.orgBased on the brilliant version of the Broadway hit, the show featured a delightful cast of characters, fantastic music from today’s biggest pop and rock artists, and, most importantly, embodied the Davis values beautifully and entertainingly. The story was set in Bikini Bottom, where the citizens faced a massive volcano eruption that threatened to destroy their humble homes. SpongeBob and his friends banded together to save their undersea world from total destruction. A most unexpected hero rose with lives hanging in the balance, and all hope lost. The power of community, optimism, inclusion, and perseverance proved that they can save the world! This deep-sea pearl of a show made a splash with over 2000 attendees of all ages, who were blown away by the four outstanding performances! Bravo!
“Participating in the all-school musical is an exceptional and unforgettable experience unique to Davis. It’s a place where age and grade level don’t matter, where we come together as one big community, and our classroom is the stage. Every child has a chance to shine and take center stage, making it an inclusive and
welcoming environment for everyone. It’s like a communal playground where we all have a spot to call our own.” said Ms. Kendrick. “Producing a show with almost 160 students and “Broadway” production values is no small feat, and it truly takes a village to make it happen. I am immensely grateful for the parents who trusted us and allowed their children to embark on this musical adventure. Our many alumni mentors and parent volunteers were also instrumental in bringing the show to life. Their contributions were invaluable, and we couldn’t have done it without them!”
“Every child brought their unique enthusiasm and teamwork to the production. We were overjoyed to witness their passion and joy shining through every day, hour, and minute spent together,” said Ms. Kendrick. “The entire environment was kind, supportive, and loving, and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. We shared love and laughter throughout our entire journey, and we cannot wait to share this experience with each other again next year!”
30th AnniversaryMilestone Weekend
Bringing together over 1400 individuals across two days, our 30th Anniversary celebration culminated with a milestone weekend that was one to remember!
Beginning with a ruach-filled Kabbalat Shabbat morning, followed by a festive evening Community Celebration, our entire kehillah honored the past, present, and future of The Davis Academy!
The 30th Anniversary All-School Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday, March 17th at the Lower School Campus Selig Family Gymnasium was packed with students, faculty, families, and alumni for a spirited sing-along with special musical guest artist Jacob Spike Kraus. Highlights of the gathering included a special blessing offered to the community by fifteen Atlanta-area rabbis and clergy, and Shabbat blessings chanted by our school’s founders and many past Presidents of the Board of Trustees.
12 The Davis Academy | davisacademy.orgThe Davis Academy’s 30th Anniversary Community Celebration was an evening filled with excitement and joy! With a sold-out crowd, record fundraising success, and dinner and dancing to Yacht Rock tunes, the evening brought together founding and pioneer families, alumni across the generations, current parents, faculty, board members, grandparents, community Rabbis and caring supporters from across Atlanta and the country, to celebrate the achievements of The Davis Academy. Thank you to the hundreds of sponsors, volunteers and hosts, including our 30th Anniversary Leadership Cabinet and Board of Trustees, who worked alongside our outstanding staff to organize such a stellar celebration.
Thank you
to our 30th Celebration Leadership Cabinet, Sponsors, and Hosts.
Celebrating Davis Alumni
Among many beautiful details at the 30th Anniversary Community Celebration event were features of the accomplishments and memories of many of our graduates, as well as class photos from the school’s 23 graduating classes to date. Alumni and alumni parents excitedly searched for their own or their children’s photos and shared memorable stories of their time at Davis. The photo display served as a testament to our school’s longlasting impact on our graduates and their families.
“We celebrate almost 1500 graduates now scattered across Atlanta’s high schools, our nation’s colleges, throughout the country and the globe: Valedictorians, Fulbright Scholars and Ph.D.’s; musicians and NCAA Division 1 athletes; those now working on the Hill or on Wall Street, or as teachers as far away as Israel or right here at home at The Davis Academy; graduates that are leading local youth groups, campus Hillels or even serving on Boards around Atlanta’s Jewish community. And what could be better than now, seeing our graduates wanting to bring their own children to The Davis Academy!”
-Amy Shafron, Head of School.Celebrating three decades of growth and achievement.
30th Anniversary Leadership Reunion
Past and present Board of Trustees members were recognized for their leadership in the school’s growth and success over the past thirty years at a special “reunion”. The reception was an opportunity to honor and acknowledge the pivotal role that hundreds of Trustees have played over the school’s 30-year journey. Trustees play an essential part at each stage of a school’s growth, ensuring that the school’s mission is not only being sustained and supported but also by ensuring its strategic direction for the future and its next generation of students. The evening was filled with meaning as board members reminisced and shared their stories about the past and present and their hopes for the future.
Advancement News
Strengthening our School: The Marcia Leder Goldman Scholarship Fund
We are grateful for the vision and generosity of Davis Academy grandparent Murray Goldman, who recently honored the memory of his beloved late wife Marcia, by establishing The Marcia Leder Goldman Scholarship Fund.
“Marcia Goldman was passionate that Jewish Day Schools were one of the best way of building a solid Jewish foundation for our children, and all families who wanted this for their children should be available regardless of the cost. Also, once her grandchildren, Hannah and Ollie, attended Davis Academy, she was further encouraged that Davis was a great choice because the total quality of the education they were receiving was phenomenal. Therefore, we chose Davis Academy as the institution to establish this scholarship honoring this great lady.”
-Murray Goldman. This new endowment fund will help provide tuition assistance for students for whom access to a Davis education may otherwise be out of reach, something that is very meaningful to the Goldman family and to our school community. We are so very appreciative of their generosity and thoughtfulness, with this gift that will carry on in perpetuity.

HAPPENINGS&events
The Davis Academy Alumni Association hosts a series of gatherings for graduates of all ages where alumni can catch up with one another and reconnect with the faculty that influenced their lives. The strong sense of community formed at Davis is longlasting, and seeing how these relationships have flourished post-graduation is a true testament to the Davis experience and the lifelong friendships that take root during the childhood years.
Class of 2012 10-Year Reunion
Members of The Davis Academy Class of 2012 came together at Bar(n) for an intimate reunion over Thanksgiving break. It was a fantastic opportunity for our alumni to share stories of their experiences since leaving Davis and reminisce about their time together as students. Gathering together reminded the alumni of the strong bonds they formed at Davis and the importance of staying connected with each other and the community.
“Lions Turned Yellow Jackets” Reunion
The Davis Academy Alumni Association hosted a “Lions Turned Yellow Jackets” reunion,” where Davis alumni, now students at Georgia Tech, caught up with members of the Davis team as well as with one another. It was an excellent opportunity for these graduates to reconnect with their Davis roots and to see how far they have come since their time at the school.
“Davis Dawgs” Reunion
The Davis Academy Alumni Association hosted a heartwarming “Davis Dawgs Reunion” lunch at UGA in Athens, Georgia. Around 30 Davis alumni, now students at UGA reunited with each other and members of the Davis team. Lisa Mirsky, Director of Admissions, touched on her visit, saying, “It was significant to see them thriving and finding their way into adulthood. Hearing them speak with gratitude about their Davis journey has me beaming joyfully. I am proud that their foundation at The Davis Academy has empowered them and thousands of other alumni to make a difference in the world.”
First Ever Davis Alumni L’il Shabbat
Alumni and their growing young families came together for a first-ever Davis Alumni
L’il Shabbat in the school’s Kaufman Chapel, led by Rabbi Micah alongside Rabbi Max Miller (Class of 2003). The morning was a great opportunity for some of Davis’s earliest graduates to return to campus for the first time in over 20 years. They brought along their babies and toddlers, and in many cases their parents as well, who loved being back on Roberts Drive, having chosen The Davis Academy all those years ago for their nowgrown children. It was an exciting and joyous occasion, filled with laughter and love, as our alum celebrated Shabbat together and reflected on their shared history.
Class of 2019 Senior Send-Off
Each year, we welcome back Davis alumni who are graduating from high school for our annual Senior Send-Off, bringing together faculty, staff, and alumni parents to wish our college-bound alumni good luck and much success as they embark on the next step in their journey. The Class of 2019 came together on April 20th to share their individual plans for post-high school, see their beloved teachers, enjoy watching their Davis graduation video together, and further strengthen the bond of their class community. We loved seeing our graduates and wished them b’hatzlacha (good luck) next year!
New York City Reunion
Our Davis Academy Alumni Association’s Big Apple Reunion was a huge success! We had so much fun catching up with over 30 Davis Academy Alumni in NYC. It was incredible to reconnect with them and to hear how their Davis Academy years shaped them into the young professionals and lifelong learners that they are today.
Sponge-tastic Reunion
The annual Davis Academy musical is one of the year’s most anticipated events, even for alumni who enjoy “coming home” to see our show. One of this year’s evening performances of the SpongeBob Musical brought together many familiar faces, alumni who are now in high school, who enjoyed catching up with each other, their former teachers and staff, and watching the show together.
The 2022-2023 Tzedek Grant Recipients
Founded in 2016, The Davis Academy Alumni Tzedek Grant recognizes and supports charitable initiatives by our graduates. These efforts exemplify The Davis Academy’s menschlichkeit value of Tzedek, a Hebrew word that means righteousness or justice. Open to high school and college-age alumni, the grant program provides an opportunity to advance the efforts of our alum who continue to carry our Davis values out into the world beyond their years at Davis. This year, we proudly award the 2023 Tzedek Grants to three outstanding recipients: Leah Tuck ‘15, Annie Marcus ‘22, and Harris Unell ‘22!
Our Davis Academy alumni are making a positive impact wherever their journey takes them. The Davis Alumni Tzedek Grant is a unique resource that we extend to help them continue to live the values we instilled during their years at The Davis Academy. Grant recipients receive a financial grant and marketing and media support that spotlight their good work.
A Spark of Art by Leah Tuck, Class of 2015
Leah Tuck ‘15, as a member of the Pre-Health Club at Georgia Tech, is starting a program called A Spark of Art, in collaboration with the William Breman Jewish Home. This program invites GA Tech students to participate in monthly arts and crafts activities with the residents.
The residents used to have a monthly art class, but unfortunately, it was canceled due to COVID. It was very well received when Leah and her peers met with some residents to share the idea of incorporating an art class into their monthly schedule. “Through A Spark of Art, we aim to offer the residents at the Jewish Home a monthly, student-led art class. This collaboration seeks to enhance the quality of life for the residents while also providing students with a meaningful volunteering experience. Additionally, we hope this program will help students build connections with the Atlanta Jewish community, regardless of their religious background.”
Leah plans to use the grant to provide the necessary materials and ensure the program continues. “I am grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the residents, and I look forward to the successful execution of the project.” As Leah works to establish a strong relationship with the Jewish Home, she hopes this program will continue to thrive in the years to come when passed down to future students after she

graduates this spring. Leah’s dedication and passion sets an excellent example for future students, and we can’t wait to see how A Spark of Art will continue to flourish in the coming years.
Annie’s Homeless Bags by Annie Marcus, Class of 2022
Annie’s passion for helping those in need inspired her to launch a meaningful project when she became a Bat Mitzvah in 8th grade. Her project began by handing out bags of food and water to those in need while driving through town, and since then, she has grown this initiative into Annie’s Homeless Bags to serve the larger community. “As someone who has never had to experience food insecurity, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to help those who are struggling,” Annie shared. By expanding this project, she hopes to increase awareness about food insecurity and support those who need it most.
The bags of food that Annie distributes contain enough for at least one meal, and with the grant money, she plans to purchase supplies and expand her reach in the community by bringing bags of food and water to parents in the Sunday school program at her synagogue. With Annie’s determination and compassion, and the support of a Tzedek grant, she has the potential to make a substantial impact on the lives of others.
Recycling Tennis Balls by Harris Unell, Class of 2022
Harris Unell is a graduate of the Class of 2022 who now attends Riverwood International Charter School. He played on The Davis Academy tennis team and continues to be a passionate tennis player who is troubled by the fact that millions of used tennis balls end up in landfills each year, taking centuries to decompose. Driven by his concern for the environment, Harris took action during his Bar Mitzvah year, by collecting used tennis balls and sending them to RecycleBalls, a non-profit organization that recycles balls into useful materials. He’s continued with the project, donating almost 20,000 tennis balls and earning recognition as one of the top 10 individual donors.
“By participating in this project, I hope to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire others to make a difference in their community.” Harris plans to use the Tzedek Grant to cover shipping costs as well as to create flyers and signs to promote the collection of used tennis balls by others at tennis matches. Harris sets an example of how we can all take responsibility for the waste we produce and work towards a more sustainable future.

North Springs High School, Class of 2016
The George Washington University, Class of 2020 (Magna Cum Laude) Medical College of Georgia, Class of 2024
“The education I received at the Davis Academy provided a solid foundation as I have continued on my academic and professional journey. After graduating from Davis and then North Springs High School, I went on to The George Washington University where I was a coxswain on the Women’s Rowing team. At GW, I poured my heart and soul into the sport of rowing. Though I was never an athlete at The Davis Academy (Coach Spaulding was definitely surprised when I became a Division I athlete), the values instilled into me at Davis translated seamlessly into the dedication required to pursue a collegiate sport. When I look back on my Davis experience, some of my favorite memories were spending all day in the Middle School gym practicing for the play with Ms. Kendrick. The long hours spent preparing for Seussical the Musical, Alice in Wonderland, Dear Edwina, and Beauty and the Beast helped me to hone in on my leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills, all of which translated to being a successful D1 coxswain.
I am now starting my fourth and final year in medical school at The Medical College of Georgia. As a first-year medical student, I noticed there was no established community of Jewish students on campus. However, growing up at Davis, I understood the importance of having a Jewish community around me, especially during challenging times -- of which medical school is undoubtedly one! So, I reached
out to a Jewish faculty member I trust and look up to, and we established the Jewish Graduate Student Association at MCG. Since then, the JSA has grown from the eight Jewish medical students in my class to about 40 members across various graduate programs, including MD, dental, nursing, and more. There have been three sets of JSA co-presidents since the inception of the JSA, and I hope that the community we have built will continue to prosper long after I graduate next May.
After I graduate from medical school, I plan to specialize in Urology. This summer, I will further participate in visiting rotations at Stanford University Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania to hone my clinical and surgical skills before residency.
As I continue on my life journey, I know the groundwork The Davis Academy provided for both my Jewish and professional identities will continue to empower me to reach my goals.”
At Davis, I learned how to learn. The enthusiasm and passion for learning instilled into me at Davis have carried me through my medical education. I truly believe I would not be where I am today as a proud Jew, a former D1 athlete, and a future medical doctor without Davis.”

“I joined The Davis Academy’s kindergarten class in 2002. From that very first day when I could go to school with my two older siblings, I saw it as my “happy place”. I think back about my years at Davis with warmth and happiness, remembering Kabbalat Shabbat as heartwarming and joyful, and my teachers as caring and nurturing, supporting me along the way and instilling values that are still with me. Their kindness and compassion have profoundly impacted me, and I will always be grateful for their guidance.
In Middle School I was a member of the Davis Decibelles, and I am incredibly proud to say that I had the honor of being a lead in the 2009 production of “Seussical, Jr.” and the 2010 production of “Alice in Wonderland.” I am filled with joy when I think back on those performances and how those early experiences instilled confidence in me, and laid the foundation for what came next .
I attended Woodward Academy for high school and later graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. I have been enjoying a fulfilling career in New York City on stage as a dancer, actress, and singer. I am excited to say that I am currently part of the Broadway National Tour of “Chicago,” touring throughout the United States and overseas. I feel incredibly blessed to be living my dream.
Even after all these years, I am still deeply connected to the Davis community. I cherish my friendships with many of my Davis classmates and teachers, and I am grateful for every opportunity to give back and inspire the next generation. Just last fall, I was thrilled to be welcomed by the Middle School Theatre students, where I shared my story, did a professional routine, and gave them advice about pursuing a career in theatre.
I am grateful for the incredible journey that began at Davis and has positively shaped the person I am today. I will always be proud of my Davis roots and am excited to see where my journey will take me next.”
“My path to professional success and commitment to always trying to be a mensch began on Roberts Drive at The Davis Academy almost 20 years ago.”

“Some of my fondest childhood memories come from my time at The Davis Academy, from kindergarten to 8th grade. One of the highlights was attending Bar and Bat Mitzvahs every weekend during my 7th and 8th grade years, and interestingly, one of the most common questions I get in baseball is, “Did you have a Bar Mitzvah?” or “How was your Bar Mitzvah?” Mine was absolutely the time of my life and it was great to celebrate my friends reaching this milestone as well. Additionally, the Israel trip during my 8th grade year was a truly transformative experience. It remains one of my most cherished memories, filled with sights I’ll never forget and emotions I will always treasure. I often encourage my friends and teammates, regardless of their religion, to visit Israel because of its rich history and special place in the world.
While I haven’t had many opportunities to interact with Jewish communities during my career in baseball, I have enjoyed sharing some of my high holiday traditions with my teammates. Last year during Rosh Hashanah, I brought apples, honey, and challah to the clubhouse and explained to my teammates the significance of these foods during the holiday. It was
a fun experience for everyone, and I was happy to introduce them to their first taste of challah!
As someone who was raised with a strong Jewish identity, it’s important to me to maintain that connection, as I pursue my career in baseball. Unfortunately, the pandemic and the nature of my profession have made it more challenging to stay connected to my Jewish roots, but representing Team Israel in the WBC has reignited my passion for my heritage, and I hope to make future trips personal and baseball-related trips to Israel.”
