Our city is committed to keeping you safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. This crisis has left us in a peculiar position as a publisher. In short, we don’t know if the businesses we are featuring in this magazine will be open and operating in the same way when you read it as they were when we wrote it. These businesses are following the Governor and Mayor’s reopening and safety rules. These rules, and the criteria for entering more liberal and advanced stages of opening, are fluid. That said, it is our duty to Chicago’s visitors, the concierge and guest services professionals community, and to our clients to publish Concierge Preferred Magazine as a tool to inspire a great Chicago experience.
While we realize there may be closings and limitations over the coming weeks, we want to make sure that you are getting great information about things to do in Chicago. We also want our clients to get the business they need to come out of this quarantine strong.
At the time of publication, the information featured in this magazine may differ from a business’s actual operating schedule. Occupancy rules may change as well. We highly recommend that you take a moment to contact the business ahead of time - or ask your concierge to help you get in touch - to confirm that they are operating as planned or if there are any limitations that could affect your experience.
Thank you in advance for your support of Chicago during this time. We are glad you are here. I wish you a safe and wonderful experience!
Sincerely,
Tim O’Malley CEO Ateema Media & MarketingFeaturing the historic Golden dome field house, Garfield Park also has outdoor activities such as baseball, boxing, basketball, tennis, and a playground. CHANGE YOUR POINT OF VIEW:
LondonHouse
LondonHouse sits high above the Chicago River where the water flows, just like the drinks. Enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine while you take in one-of-a-kind views at one of the city’s tallest rooftop restaurants. If you work up an appetite, try their crispy-skinned roasted duck or other classic American Fare. Sitting 22 stories above some of the most picturesque sites in the city, you can truly feel like royalty when dining at this swanky rooftop lounge.
This beautifully-chic restaurant brings nature to you, where a huge tree sits in the middle of the bar. Enjoy light Mediterranean cuisine and perfectly crafted cocktails as you look over one of the only rooftops in the entire Gold Coast area. While many rooftops in Chicago tend to boast their square footage or floor number, Fig & Olive does none of that. Instead, you get a unique Chicago experience with beautiful foliage surrounding you and the ability to look up at skyscrapers from a relaxed canopy setting. Some may consider this place a “hidden gem” in its neighborhood, but it’s not going to stay that way for long.
This is the nation’s largest rooftop bar and it sits on the third floor of Navy Pier’s festival hall, meaning you get views of the city that you can’t get anywhere else — that’s the advantage of being out on the pier. Enjoy classic cocktails with a twist and order from a menu that focuses on seasonal, modern american cuisine with global influences served as small, shareable plates.
Most restaurants claim to be “organic” or “farm-to-table” but fail to detail where their food actually comes from. At Homestead on the Roof, they literally bring the farm to you. With a beautiful 1,000 square foot patio in the Ukrainian Village, Homestead on the Roof combines rustic American charm with innovative flair. Their organic garden is situated around every single table, so you get to see the ingredients for your tasty meals grow in real-time. Unlike other skyscraper settings, this secondstory rooftop focuses on telling a story about the food and keeping you comfortable. This is the perfect place to enjoy an early happy hour or relax with your friends on a Sunday.
Situated on the 18th floor of the Rafaello Hotel, Drumbar is one of those rare gems in Chicago that not everyone knows about yet. Grab a bite to eat or sip on a country-inspired drink as you look over the city. With a brag-worthy selection of whiskey, scotch, bourbon, and cognac, this is definitely a top cocktail destination in Chicago. Drumbar gives you the feeling that you have the entire city to yourself while you enjoy beautiful views and a charming setting. Get here before others find out because it won’t go unnoticed for long.
With the temperature rising, it’s not unusual if you start sweating for sweets. Since Chicagoans live for the few short months of summer, you can bet that this city has been perfecting frozen treats for years. Here are some chill places suggested by local concierges:
Marcus Hollis, Omni Chicago Hotel
Shannon Boland, LondonHouse Chicago
There are three steps in ordering an Ice Cream Bar: Pick a flavor of homemade ice cream bar, dip said bar into your choice of chocolate or sweet glaze, and then sprinkle on toppings. This is such a simple concept, but it’s executed so well that it has Chicagoans coming back for more.
Every day unique flavors like Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel and Strawberry Balsamic are made fresh. Every month has new featured flavors, too! In April the featured Game of Thrones themed menu had such cherubs as the ‘Moonpie Door’ and the ‘You Know Muffin Jon Snow’.
Susan Alexander, Fashion Outlets of Chicago
Ever since 1954, this Italian ice stand has been serving Little Italy with some of the finest Italian Lemonade in the city. From banana to watermelon and everything in between, each flavor is made with real fruit and fresh ingredients.
Douglas Pickett, InterContinental Chicago
Magnificent Mile
In a collaboration with Stan’s Donuts, this large rotating Gelato bar hypnotizes guests, welcoming them into from the patio to cool off. The Gelato itself is very rich and creamy; its buttery flavors makes this the type of treat that you miss once it’s gone.

the most flavorful, most marbled, and most tender part of a ribeye steak! But you also can’t miss the signature dishes like the Lil’ Brgs, tuna tartare, and the signature mac and cheese trio.
In the mood for mouthwatering steaks but not in the mood to go out? You can enjoy STK in your own dining room! STK is still offering to-go packages and cook at home meals for pick up and delivery. It may take a bit of getting used to as dining at restaurants won’t look like what it did before. In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus to customers, tourists, and employees, here is a list of new guidelines to keep in mind when heading out in public.

• Wash your hands often, avoid touching your face
• When in public, wear a facemask when you can and keep it on while waiting to be seated or to pick up your food
• Plan accordingly such as dining during their non-peak hours or choose a restaurant that may have limited crowds
• Be aware that waiting rooms are not able to have more than 10 people
