Anthony Gates Concierge, LondonHouse Hotel love Barton G is definitely for their unique dining experience. would also recommend Sugar Factory for their huge goblet drinks, Eddie V’s for their ‘fire’ desserts, and the yummy foods at Imperial Lamian.” Judson Corrie Chef Concierge, Waldorf Astoria Hotel “A hidden gem of Lincoln Park is Prost trueto-life German beer hall. Banners, brats and boots of beers are to be expected, but nothing more photogenic than their enormous pretzel with the perfect dough-to-crisp ratio. Few things are more exciting than when they bring it out to the table on the paddle.” CONCIERGE PREFERRED BLUE DOOR KITCHEN AND GARDEN Celebrate Good Times! CONCIERGE PREFERRED Any excuse to dine out is valid, but sometimes special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or promotion is all the more reason to up the ante. David Moore Allegro Hotel Carnivale Carnivale’s festive, energetic vibe and incredible eats just scream ‘celebration’! There’s always something to see while you dine, like Salsa dancers and stunning artwork you don’t want to miss. Try the Rum Cured Salmon or the Lechon Asado and follow up with one of their oh-so’grammable desserts like the organic cotton candy or the Cuban cigar. Mel Baker, Swissotel Ocean Prime Classic steak and seafood with sophisticated, upscale vibe and a robust wine list make Ocean Prime a...well, a ‘prime’ spot to clink your glass. Choose from variety sushi rolls, indulge in the raw bar, and sink your teeth into a filet and some sides smoked gouda tater tots anyone? Matthew Carr Viceroy Chicago Maple Ash Sit back and relax at this posh Gold Coast go-to. Led by two-Michelin star Chef Danny Grant, Maple Ash is hotspot for wood fired steaks and seafood like the 28 day dryaged bone-in ribeye and the whole roasted branzino. Treat yourself to Butcher’s Reserve that includes the Snake River Waygu Strip and the Eisenhower a 40oz cut. 12 CONCIERGE PREFERRED Twin Anchors (1655 N. Sedgwick) This is a local favorite, but word has gotten out ever steadily, bringing some wait times along with it, but make no mistake – you need ribs, you need these ribs. Accompany them with one of their proprietary sauces (Mild, Zesty Prohibition) and there’s little else in the world that matters. The space is authentically aged, speaking to its’ storied past and the bartenders come with the perfect amount of good-natured “ribbing.” must, you’re looking for true Chicago appeal. Bub City (435 N. Clark) The fried chicken sandwich hotter than you think, the talent on stage is better than you imagined and you always stay longer than you planned. At lunch, the meat three option… is always the right option, and the brunch anchored by one of the more serious DIY bloody mary bars in the city. The scene here alive and don’t be surprised to see some spontaneous dance breakouts. By Judson Corrie Chef Concierge, Waldorf-Astoria Green Street Smoked Meats (112 N. Green St.) When GSSM came about, it was as if the whole city had forgotten about BBQ. This, now staple of the West Loop, has cemented itself as gathering place for all occasions. The premium meat waiting to land on your aluminum tray great start, but take seat at their communal tables, blend into the beautiful crowd at the center bar with a bourbon sweet tea and revel in the night at the hippest spot in town slinging mean pulled pork. Chicago Q (1160 N Dearborn & Elm) From the outside looks like a misplaced Georgian homestead in our Gold Coast neighborhood. Inside, the BBQ “joint” is actually rather refined dining room… with parade of regional favorites awaiting. Competition-style ribs, prime brisket burnt ends & fried alligator get you in the door, but I’ve found their complimentary bread butter pickles and BBQ chips just to start, require you to bring friends many, hungry friends. AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2019 ISSUE 13 Jerk Jamaican BBQ (811 W. Chicago Ave) Though maybe an unconventional choice for the purists among us, Jerk Jamaican BBQ stands firm on this list. An affinity for local craft beers, supporting cast of sides you would want to order by themselves, and blissfully gritty Jerk rub. Also, if they are reading this, the turkey leg they have only in November needs to be permanent menu fixture! 10 CONCIERGE PREFERRED RPM Steak RPM Steak is known for, well, steak, but their burger is something dreams are made of. This juicy burger comes with an onion bun, fried onion strings, the perfect amount of dijon mustard, and deliciously melty cheddar. Don’t miss out on perfect pairing with RPM‘s incredible Old Fashioned. Mott Street There’s reason the Mott Street burger keeps popping up on “best of” lists – it’s insanely good. Simple, to-the-point, the Mott Burger features pickled jalapenos, shoestring potatoes, hoisin aioli, cheese, and BUTTER. Pair this beauty with one of Mott Street’s refreshing cocktails like the Mass Appeal or the Roasted & Toasted. By Erica Abdnour (@BurgerGal) The Bold and The BeauTiful: Hot weather just requires a juicy burger on your plate and Chicago has no shortage of some good ones trust me, I’m on a mission to try them ALL. BONUS: The Moonlighter also offers vegan burger! Casa Indigo This Pilsen staple boasts a burger that you’ll remember forever; the Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar Burger isn’t just a burger it’s an EXPERIENCE. Comprised of housemade jalapeno patty, bacon, Wisconsin cheddar, grilled jalapenos and onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, habanero mustard, and ketchup, this burger that should appear on everyone’s foodie bucket list. The Delta The Delta only has one burger on their menu, but really that’s all they need. Dry-aged beef piled high with bacon, American cheese, onion, pickle, and special sauce, this burger packs savory and uber-flavorful punch that will have you coming back for more. Make sure to wash it down with DAF Whiskey Sour or Smashley. Good Measure An onion bun. Smoked American cheese. Aioli. LTO. This burger has everything you need to wake up those taste buds. The best part? you so choose, you can add caramelized onions, farm egg, or whole burrata to this beast.
