A R K A NSA S R E PE R TORY T H E AT R E Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s mission is to produce a diverse body of theatrical work of the highest artistic standards. With a focus on dramatic storytelling that illuminates the human journey, The Rep entertains, engages and enriches local and regional audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Founded in 1976, Arkansas Repertory Theatre is the state’s largest nonprofit professional theatre company. A member of the League of Resident Theatres and a constituent of Theatre Communications Group, the national service organization for nonprofit theatres, The Rep has produced more than 300 productions, including 40 world premieres, in its historic building in downtown Little Rock. Producing Artistic Director John MillerStephany leads a resident staff of designers, technicians and administrators in the creation of six to eight productions for an annual audience in excess of 70,000 for productions. The Rep produces works that range from world premieres to contemporary comedies and dramas to the classics of dramatic literature. The Rep’s Education Department offers year-round training for students of all ages and experience levels in acting, singing and dance. Through special student matinees, classes, workshops, camps and outreach activities, The Rep serves well over 7,000 students annually. Thanks to the work of The Rep’s Education Guild, need-based scholarships are available for every program. The Rep’s programs and facilities are accessible to disabled patrons. Shannon Lamb* (MayDee) is happy to return home to Little Rock and to Arkansas Rep. She was last seen in New Century Theatre’s production of Jar the Floor (Maydee). Her Arkansas Rep credits include: Mary Poppins (Mrs. Corry), the world premiere of Because of Winn Dixie (Millie Wilkinson), It Happened in Little Rock (Elizabeth Eckford), Gee’s Bend (Nella), Voices at the River I and II, and The Full Monty ( Joanie). She also appeared in the Murry’s Dinner Playhouse productions of Annie (Ms. Hannigan,) Little Shop of Horrors (Ronnette), and Smokey Joe’s Café (Brenda). Two of her proudest moments include being on the cover of American Theatre Magazine and singing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. Shannon thanks God daily for her loving fiancé and her brilliant daughter Zion. Erikka Walsh* (Raisa) is honored to debut at Arkansas Rep with this production! Broadway: Once. CR E AT I V E T E A M Dan Kimbles (Lighting Designer) is in his sixth season with Arkansas Repertory Theatre. Originally from Cumberland, MD, he has his Bachelor of Science in Theatrical Production & Design from Frostburg State University (Frostburg, MD) and his Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from Florida State University (Tallahassee, FL). He was the Master Electrician (2008-2010) and Resident Lighting Designer (2011) for West Virginia Public Theatre (Morgantown, WV) and was a Lighting Assistant for the first National Tour of In the Heights (The Producing Company). Design credits include: The Whipping Man, Macbeth, An IIliad, Elf, and The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) (The Rep); Cats, Chicago, and Oliver! (West Virginia Public Theatre); Rent and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Florida State University). Danny Kuenzel* (Production Stage Manager) This is Ms. Kuenzel’s fourth production with Arkansas Rep this year having already managed The Crucible, A Christmas Story and Sister Act. Overall, this is her sixth season at The Rep which she considers an accomplishment worthy of a happy dance. During the summer months, Danny can be found at Mason Street Warehouse in Saugatuck, Michigan where she has been the production stage manager for thirteen seasons. Other regional credits include: Pioneer Theatre Company, Northern Stage, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Weston Playhouse Theatre Company, The Alley Theatre, and the Contemporary American Theatre Festival. Of her friends growing up, Danny was the one with the functional family—something for which she is forever grateful.

Lynda J. Kwallek (Properties Designer) is in her 10th year at Arkansas Rep. Lynda holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from Kent State University in Ohio, and an MFA in Theatre from Illinois State University in Normal. Lynda spent many years in Houston at the Alley Theatre, where she held a variety of positions in the properties shop, including properties master, assistant and shopper. During her tenure at the Alley, Lynda worked on approximately 200 productions in the prop and scenic shops. Some of the memorable shows Lynda has worked on include Not about Nightingales, Angels in America, Jekyll & Hyde, Civil War and House and Garden. Prior to the Alley, she was staff designer at the University of Houston Clear Lake School of Theatre and Dance and served as designer/ technical director for the Houston Shaw Festival. While in Houston, Lynda worked with the Shakespeare Festival and the Children’s Festival at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park in the properties department. Lynda is a member of the Society of Properties Artisan Managers (S*P*A*M). C. Andrew Mayers (Sound Designer) is a Minneapolis-based designer. Off Broadway: Pure Confidence (59E59) (winner of 2009 Audelco Award for Best Sound Design). Regional: Love And Information (ACT – San Francisco); Stage Kiss, Born Yesterday, The Primrose Path, 9 Parts of Desire, Third, numerous others (Guthrie Theatre); The Shining, The Manchurian Candidate, Silent Night, The Grapes of Wrath, numerous others (Minnesota Opera); Jungle Theatre; History Theatre; Children’s Theatre Co.; Mixed Blood; Philadelphia Opera; Seaglass Theatre (Los Angeles); numerous others. 2008-09 McKnight Theatre Artist Fellow. Producing director, Acadia Repertory Theatre, Mount Desert Island, Maine. Gilbert McCauley† (Director) is glad to be back at The Rep which he considers his “artistic-home-away-from-home.” Presently he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theater at the University of Massachusetts. He has directed Off-Broadway and at regional theatres around the country including Arena Stage, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Goodman Theatre, New Century Theatre, Old Globe Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Playwrights Horizons, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and the National Theatre of Ghana. His recent directing credits include, The Whipping Man by Matthew Lopez, Gees Bend by Elyzabeth Gregory-Wilder, Hell in High Water and Jesus Moonwalks the Mississippi by Marcus Gardley, Peter Morgan’s Frost/Nixon, The Piano Lesson and Fences by August Wilson, Charles Fuller’s A Soldier’s Play and Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. Mike Nichols (Resident Set Designer/Techincal Director) is a natural born Arkansawyer. He has served in his current position with Arkansas Repertory Theatre since August of 1982. Holly Paynes (Costume Design) Currently the Costume Director here at The Rep, she has designed for Utah Shakespeare Festival, Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, Skylight Opera (Milwaukee), Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Renaissance Theaterworks (Milwaukee), Delaware Theatre Center, Milwaukee Shakespeare, Florentine Opera (Milwaukee), Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Riverside Theater (Vero Beach, FL), First Stage Children’s Theater (Milwaukee), University of Tulsa, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, University of Arkansas, Parkview Arts and Science High School, Wildwood Park for the Arts and TheatreSquared (Fayetteville, AR) and Argenta Community Theater. Cheryl L. West (Author) is the author of several plays, including Before it Hits Home, Jar the Floor, Play On! (Broadway and PBS’ Great Performances), and Holiday Heart (adapted for Showtime/MGM; GLAAD Award nominee). Birdie Blue premiered at Williamstown Theatre Festival and received a subsequent production at Pittsburgh’s City Theater and 2econd Stage Theatre. Cheryl has earned several playwriting awards, including the international Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, the Helen Hayes, AUDELCO, and the NAACP Playwriting Award. Her plays have been produced in England, New York, and at numerous regional theatres, including the Arena Stage, Goodman, Old Globe, Seattle Rep, Bay Street, Syracuse Stage, Pasadena Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse, South Coast Rep, and the Alliance. She has worked in television and film with projects at Sony, Paramount, TNT, HBO, MTV, and CBS. Cheryl is currently adapting her play Jar the Floor for Paramount Studios and is working on the musical Rejoice!, to be directed by Kenny Leon.
AT T H E R E P John Miller-Stephany† (Producing Artistic Director) is only the third person to hold the leadership position at Arkansas Repertory Theatre since The Rep’s founding in 1976. Before moving to Little Rock, John made the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul his home. In Minnesota, he served on the staff of the esteemed Guthrie Theater for 19 years, as its first Artistic Administrator from 1996 to 1999 and then as the Associate Artistic Director from 1999 to 2015. While at the Guthrie, he directed 17 acclaimed productions for the theatre, several of which are some of the most successful productions in the Guthrie’s history. Prior to 1996, John lived in New York City where he worked over the course of 16 years for The Acting Company, America’s only professional classical touring repertory theatre. He was The Acting Company’s first Associate Producer, a position he held from 1989 to 1996. He is delighted and honored to be with working with The Rep’s dedicated and hardworking board, staff and volunteer corps, and he looks forward to sharing the transformative power of live professional theatre with the people of Greater Little Rock and the beautiful state of Arkansas. Rafael Colón Castanera (Production Manager) is in his 16th season as Production Manager for The Rep. Rafael is best known for his numerous costume design credits for The Rep as well as for his directing credits around town. Most recently he directed and designed La Cage Aux Folles for Argenta Community Theater. Prior to his move to Little Rock, Rafael was the General Manager for Izquierdo Studio, which produces specialty costumes and props for film, television and the Broadway stage, and a freelance project coordinator and designer. His 2000 holiday season windows ranked among the top 5 window displays by The New York Post. Rafael holds a BA in theatre from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and holds an MFA in Directing Musical Theatre from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
