ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER CHILDREN’S THEATRE 2016–2017 SEASON

CAST & CREW PROFILES Isabella DeCastro (9-year-old Rapunzel) is happy to make her main stage debut in Rapunzel at the Children’s Theatre. She is a third grader at Don Roberts Elementary School where she is a cheerleader and performed a lead part in the school Christmas play. At Shuffles Ballet she was a dancer for three years and was also a gymnast at River City Gymnastics. She loves her dogs, singing, dancing and playing with friends. Geoffrey Eggleston (Lover/Vocal Coach) likes Little Rock so much that he drove all the way back from South Dakota for his second season with the Children’s Theatre! Last year, his favorite roles included Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Joe in Schoolhouse Rock, Live! And MacDonald McGregor in The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. He has a BFA in musical theatre from Millikin University. Geoffrey also regularly performs as a stand-up comedian. Briana Fleming (Singer) attends Little Rock Central High School as a 10th grader and an active Troubadour member. Rapunzel will be her first Children’s Theatre play, and she is ecstatic to be a part of it. Briana has been involved in forensic competitions, school plays, black history programs, pageants, and dance competitions, and she plans to continue adding more experience in theatre. Izzy Hammonds (Ensemble/Singer Understudy), age 13, is excited to be making her debut with the Children’s Theatre in Rapunzel. She currently attends International Virtual Learning Academy. Previous acting credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie JR with Young Players, Cassie in 13 The Musical with YP Second Stage, Young Mary in It’s a Wonderful Life, Lady Catherine and Faun in Camelot, and Ensemble in Shrek The Musical with The Royal Players in Benton. Izzy is also a part of The Rep’s summer program. Mark Hansen (Scholar) is a company member at the AACCT. You may have seen him with one less leg as Long John Silver in Treasure Island, as Huckle Cat in Busytown or as the Boss of the School in Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business. In addition to acting, Mark helps with set and prop construction. Some of his favorite roles have been Frog in A Year with Frog and Toad, the Emperor in The Emperor’s New Clothes and Slim in Of Mice and Men. Mark graduated from Little Rock Central High School and UALR. Mark has also received training at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.


ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER CHILDREN’S THEATRE 2016–2017 SEASON

Lexie Holley (Rapunzel) attends Mount St. Mary Academy, where she is a 10th grader. She was last seen as Queen Gertrude in The Rules of Comedy, a one act play at Mount St. Mary, and as a narrator in Aladdin Jr. at the Anthony School. She has attended the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, Georgia with Anthony School three times where they have won awards in excellence every year; twice for dance, and once for acting, as well as winning individual awards. She plans to attend next year as a student director. Lexie is honored to be making her Children’s Theatre debut in Rapunzel. Margaret Lowry (Ensemble/12-year-old Rapunzel Understudy/Rapunzel Understudy) is delighted to rejoin the Children’s Theatre for a 10th production. Recent roles include the Cat in The Adventures of Peter Rabbit, Erato in The Odyssey, Much in Robin Hood, and Pinocchio in Pinocchio. This past summer she also joined Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre for their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Margaret is a homeschooled 10th grader. Isabelle Marchese (Ensemble) is a home schooler in the 10th grade. This will be her 12th theatrical production. Previous credits include The Miracle Worker, Camelot and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Royal Theater in Benton, and The Diary of Anne Frank at the Community Theatre of Little Rock. She is elated to be in her first production with the Children’s Theatre. Lela Miller (Ensemble) is an eighth grade homeschooler. At the age of 9, she attended the Dallas Models & Talent Expo where she received 11 callbacks and was chosen to model in their prestigious fashion show. Lela enjoys practicing taekwondo, playing guitar and piano, and singing. She has also been in numerous church productions and is extremely excited to be a part of the Children’s Theatre family. Aleigha Morton (Gothel/Acting Coach) is more than happy to return to the AACCT for a sixth season! She received her BFA in acting from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She recently appeared as Elizabeth in The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. Favorite roles include Pierre the Troll in The Three Little Pigs and Three Billy Goats Gruff and Dori in Schoolhouse Rock, Live! Richard Nelson (Ensemble/Prince Understudy) is excited to be a part of his eighth production with the Children’s Theatre. Most recently he was a member of the run crew for The Laughable Legend of Fancybeard the Bully Pirate. He has appeared as Elpenor in The Odyssey, A Rustic Lad in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Forrester Willie in The Legend of Robin Hood, a Pandemonium Mime in Pinocchio, Ensemble in The 13 Clocks and crew in Schoolhouse Rock, Live! He has attended Summer Theatre Academy for five years.

Jeffery Oakley (Prince) is excited to be back on stage at the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre! He recently played Big Deal in Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre’s West Side Story. Jeffrey has appeared in several productions here at the AACCT, including The Adventures of Peter Rabbit, Sleeping Beauty, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Country Mouse, City Mouse, Christmas House. Some of his favorite roles include Simon in 13 The Musical and Bisset/ The Butcher’s Son in A Christmas Carol at the Weekend Theatre, and James in James and the Giant Peach here at the AACCT. Jeff is currently in 11th grade at eStem Charter School in Little Rock and would like to thank his family for their continued love and support. Anna Reynolds (Ensemble) is thrilled to be making her Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre debut. She has previously appeared in Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre’s productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She can be seen on AST’s stage again this summer in Love’s Labour’s Lost. Anna also enjoys playing the piano and is an avid reader. She is in 7th grade at eStem Public Charter School, where she is a part of the basketball team, Mathcounts, and the Music Production Club. Rebecca Taylor (Clown/Performance Apprentice) is thrilled to be making her debut with Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre. She just graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a BFA in Musical Theatre, was an Honors Scholar, and achieved the rank of Summa Cum Laude. Rebecca loves diving into many different facets of theatre; in addition to performing, she also has extensive scenic, carpentry, and properties experience. Select performance credits: On the Town (Lucy Schmeeler), Stop Kiss (Mrs. Winsley), The King & I, Hairspray, and Peter Pan. Rebecca spent this past summer working and frolicking in the wilderness of Vermont at Dorset Theatre Festival. Vielen Dank to my incredibly patient and loving family, devoted friends, and amazing colleagues…past, present, and future! Demetrius Watts (Ensemble) a recent graduate of Bryant High school, has been active in drama since elementary school and has attended Summer Theatre Academy at the Children’s Theatre for six years. His favorite role was as a School Kid in Agape Academy’s production of The Gospel According to Scrooge. Currently, he is volunteering with the AACCT to bolster his knowledge of performing arts before he pursues a degree in acting for film and television in the fall of 2017 at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Kadyn White (12-year-old Rapunzel/9-year-old Rapunzel Understudy) is happy to make her Children’s Theatre main stage debut in Rapunzel. Kadyn attends The Baptist Preparatory school, where she is a 6th grader. Her credits include three years of competitive dance and numerous performances at The Rep’s Black Box Theatre, including Summer at The Rep. When she is not acting, Kadyn enjoys singing and playing volleyball and guitar. Tyler Wisdom (Run Crew/Scholar Understudy/Lover Understudy/Performance Apprentice) is originally from Russellville, Ark., and is close to receiving his BFA in Musical Theatre from Ouachita Baptist University. At OBU, he was seen in many different productions including The Giver (Jonas), A Year with Frog and Toad (Snail), and Machinal (Ensemble). Other favorite roles include Willard in Footloose and Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. He is so grateful for this amazing opportunity and hopes you enjoy the show!

ARTISTIC STAFF PROFILES Bradley D. Anderson (Artistic Director) has served as the Artistic Director for the AACCT since 1979. Before coming to the Children’s Theatre, Bradley served as the founding director of the County Stearns Theatrical Company in St. Cloud, Minn., and was the Director of Studio Theatre of the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. In 1985, Bradley and the Children’s Theatre participated in the renowned Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C., and in 1986, he received the National Governor’s Association Excellence in the Arts award. He has directed numerous plays at the AACCT. Katie Campbell (Associate Director) is a director, performer, and teaching artist. She is originally from North Carolina but since 2007 has found an artistic home in Little Rock as a company member with the Arkansas Art Center Children’s Theater and improvisor with ImprovLittleRock and The Joint Venture. She is also the co-founder and coach of the youth improv comedy troupe, Armadillo Rodeo. Her devised and directed shadow puppet play, The Ugly Duckling, received a 2015 Jim Henson Foundation Family Grant. Additionally, she is a board member of TYA/USA, a national membership organization that strengthens the artistic and cultural impact of theatre for young audiences, and a member of Puppeteers of America. This year she has directed Tyke & Moppet for the studio, The Gingerbread Man on tour and Fancy Nancy the Musical on the main stage. Other shows directed at the Arts Center include, School House Rock, Live!, The Cat in the Hat, Go, Dog. Go!, and Miss Nelson has a Field Day. She has directed regionally and nationally for the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, Wayne State University, PRF Productions in Pennsylvania, The North Carolina Theatre for Young People, THTR 232, and for Shake on the Lake in upstate New York. Katie has an MFA in directing theatre for young people from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a BA in theatre arts from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is passionate about providing spaces of dialogue for young people onstage and off. She strives to create work that youth connect with and see themselves reflected in the art.


ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER CHILDREN’S THEATRE 2016–2017 SEASON

Erin Fowler (Choreographer) is excited to be back at the Children’s Theatre for a fourth season! Last season she choreographed Puss in Boots, The Gingerbread Man, The Odyssey and Schoolhouse Rock, Live!. Erin also teaches movement and acting classes at the Children’s Theatre. John Isner (Associate Director) is originally from Richmond, Va., but found his artistic home with the AACCT and the staff many seasons ago. After graduating from Ferrum College and Bretton Hall Academy of Performance Arts in Yorkshire, England, John worked for various theatre companies throughout the United States. Some of John’s AACCT directing credits include The Odyssey, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. John was recently seen on stage as Miller in Rumpelstiltskin, the Skin Horse in The Velveteen Rabbit and as Little John in The Legend of Robin Hood. John was recently cast in a new HBO/Showtime series “The Quarry.” The first season is airing currently. Rivka Kuperman (Production Stage Manager) is pleased to be in her fourth season at the AACCT. Rivka grew up in Little Rock and spent most of her childhood at the AACCT. She received her BA in theatre from the University of Central Arkansas in 2007 and her masters in education administration from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2015. She is a company member of the local improv troupe ImprovLittleRock! and would like to thank her family and friends for their support and enthusiasm, especially Dad. Erin Larkin (Costume Designer) is the resident costume designer at the AACCT. This is her thirteenth season at the Children’s Theatre. She earned her BA from the University of Memphis in fine art, but has since crossed over into theatrical design. A few of her favorite AACCT design credits include Mr. Popper’s Penguins, The Ugly Duckling, Cinderella, and A Year with Frog and Toad. She has also had the opportunity to design locally for opera and film, as well as in indie fashion and textiles. She gives many thanks to the great team in the costume shop for all their hard work towards making each production shine. Liz McMath (Stage Manager) is happy to be back with her Children’s Theatre family for the 2016-2017 season. She wore many hats at the AACCT during her previous eight seasons here, including actor, teacher, and costume assistant. And she is proud to be donning her stage management hat once again. Liz recently returned to the United States after four years in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she played her favorite supporting roles of wife and mother. Drew Posey (Technical Director) received a BA from Arkansas State University in 2008 after spending a season as technical director at the Foundation of Arts in Jonesboro, Ark. From 2008-2012, Drew was the master carpenter at The Arkansas Repertory Theatre where he honed his skills as a carpenter, painter, and sculptor. As an artist and an Arkansan, he is very excited to be a part of the Arkansas Arts Center. He would like to give special thanks to his parents and wife, Sheridan, who are brilliant theatre artists and have supported all of his endeavors. Keith Smith (Associate Director) joined the AACCT in 1980 as a member of its acting company. He later turned his attentions to playwriting and directing, becoming the theatre’s Associate Director in the late ‘80s. Over the past 25 years Keith has written nearly 100 plays for the Children’s Theatre and has directed many dozens more.

Mike Stacks (Lighting Designer) began working in theatre while in college, performing onstage and working as a technician behind the scenes. Following college he took work in lighting, eventually making that his full-time pursuit. Mike started with the Arkansas Repertory in 1999 and continued to work there until 2015. During summers and breaks from The Rep, Mike did tour work and acted as an installations technician, repairing and installing rigging and lighting throughout the region. Mike is very happy to be joining the full-time staff of the AAC Children’s Theatre, finally giving him a chance to stretch his creative wings Nikki Webster (Assistant Costume Designer) Nikki is in her eighth season with the AACCT and is so thankful to have a job doing what she loves. Design credits include Sleeping Beauty, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Princess and the Pea, Bunnicula, and Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!. Nikki has also designed for the Arkansas Shakespeare Festival, Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, and the UALR Opera. She is thrilled to work in a place that inspires children to imagine, play, and create! Miranda Young (Properties Master) started at the AACCT as a student actor and is excited to return for her tenth season as properties master and designer. She studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and received a BFA in printmaking and painting. She also works as printmaking instructor for the Museum School at the Arkansas Arts Center. Miranda has designed the sets for several AACCT productions including Pinkalicious the Musical, The Giant and the Beanstalk, and Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type.
