The AAC Children’s Theatre extends a special thanks to the volunteer cast, crew members and the parents of the young people for their extensive support and participation.


CAST PROFILES Mark Hansen (Taleteller) is a company member at the AACCT. You may have seen him with one less leg as Long John Silver in Treasure Island. In addition to acting, Mark helps with set construction. Some of his favorite roles have been Frog in A Year with Frog and Toad, the Emperor in The Emperor’s New Clothes and Slim in Of Mice and Men. Mark graduated high school from Little Rock Central and college from UALR. Mark has also received training at the Arkansas Rep. Aleigha Morton (Pierre Sous-Pont) is a recent graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She received her BFA in Acting and has returned for the 2011-2012 season as a company member for the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre. Recent roles include a Student in If You Take a Mouse to School, Boz et al in the AACCT’s touring production of A Christmas Carol, Catherine in The Foreigner, Janie et al in Wonder of the World and Clara in The Visit, all with the ASU theatre department. Jeremy Matthey (Granpa Billy/Dennis) is thrilled to be making his AACCT debut. Other credits include: Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat (Dan), The Producers with Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, Lily and the Appleseed (Huck) and Art To Go (Andy) with Wildwood Park for the Arts, A Little Night Music (Henrik) with Arkansas Symphony Orchestra/Arkansas Rep, Les Misérables (Jean Prouvaire/Marius u/s), Hello, Dolly! and Children of a Lesser God (Orin) with the Arkansas Rep. Favorite roles include: Charlie Brown in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Action in West Side Story. Cassandra Nary (Middle Billy/Sleepy Pig) is thrilled to be working with such amazing people at AACCT. She is a native of Southern New Jersey and attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where she received a degree in Theater with a concentration in Musical Theater. Past credits include: Oklahoma, Goldilocks, Alice In Wonderland Jr. (Maples Repertory Theatre), Sweet Charity, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Rent (Tomlinson Theater) and New Voices Cabaret (Society Hill Playhouse). She thanks to her supportive family, cast and crew for making this season an incredible experience. Garrett Flood (Big Billy/Hungry Pig) is very excited for his first season at the Arkansas Art Center Children’s Theatre. He studied at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in Performance. He recently was a part of productions on Charleston Stage and also Threshold Theatre in South Carolina. Some of his favorite roles are Judas (The Last Days of Judas Iscariot), Lenny (Marisol) and Dracula (Dracula). He thanks all of you so much for enjoying this production with all the cast. Enjoy the Show!! Jillian Kuhl (Clever Pig) is more than excited to be making her Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre debut! Hailing from the small town of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with degrees in Musical Theatre and Communications. Post-graduation, she was a Resident Actor at Charleston Stage and toured the Pacific Northwest with Hampstead Stage. A few of her favorite roles include Velma Kelly (Chicago), Bad Idea Bear (Avenue Q), Jo March (Little Women the Musical), Ado Annie (Oklahoma!) and Jeanie (Hair). Much love to her wonderful support system! Mattingly Bartole (Baby Billy) of Cabot is an 8th grader at Cabot Jr. High South. She is very excited to be in this production. Past favorite roles at AACCT include Baby Bear in Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood, Melinda in There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom, Gracie Miller in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Captain Cook in Mr. Popper’s Penguins. She has participated in the Summer Theatre Academy for the past three summers. When not performing, Mattingly enjoys reading, playing with her dogs, participating in quiz bowl and having adventures. She thanks her parents, sister and teachers for their continued support. Jhonika Wright (Middle Billy) is excited to be in her fourth main stage production here at the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre. You may have seen her in Singin’ on a Star the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (STA), as a Fox in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe or as a member of “The Crew” in Cinderella. She has studied with the Junior Arts and Summer Theatre Academies, participated in Ensemble Company and in The Rep’s SMTI program. She would like to thank her family and friends for their support and hopes you enjoy the show. Minah Tucker (Sleepy Pig) is a 10th grade homeschooler who is no stranger to the Children’s Theatre. In addition to attending the Arts Center’s Summer Theatre Academy, Minah has also volunteered backstage as a make-up assistant for many of this season’s Mainstage shows. You may have recognized Minah’s work in animal character effects in this season’s productions of Bunnicula and City Mouse, Country Mouse, Christmas House. When not working onstage or behind the scenes, Minah is a beginning filmmaker. She would like to thank for family and friends for their support and hopes you enjoy the show.


ARTISTIC STAFF PROFILES

Bradley D. Anderson (Artistic Director) has served as the Artistic Director for the AACCT since 1979. Before coming to the Children’s Theatre, Mr. Anderson served as the founding director of the County Stearns Theatrical Company in St. Cloud, Minn. and was the Director of Studio Theatre of the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. In 1985, Mr. Anderson and the Children’s Theatre participated in the renowned Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C. and in 1986, he received the National Governor’s Association Excellence in the Arts award. He has directed numerous plays at the AACCT. Keith Smith (Playwright/Associate Director) began his career with the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre in the fall of 1980 as a member of its acting company. He later turned his attentions to playwriting and directing, becoming the theatre’s Associate Director in the late ‘80s. Over the past 20 years Keith has written more than 75 plays for the Children’s Theatre and has directed many dozens more. Some of his favorite past works include The Mind of Leonardo da Vinci, The Mad Science Fair, King Arthur and the Magic Sword and The Time Machine. Erin Larkin (Costume Designer) is the resident costume designer at the AACCT. This is her sixth season at the Children’s Theatre. She earned her degree from the University of Memphis in fine art, but has since crossed over into theatrical design. A few of her favorite AACCT design credits include Mr. Popper’s Penguins, The Ugly Duckling, Cinderella and A Year with Frog and Toad. She has also had the opportunity to design locally for opera and film, as well as in indie fashion and textiles. She gives many thanks to the great team in the costume shop for all their hard work towards making each production shine. Nikki Webster (Costume Designer) usually spends her time building, sewing, and crafting the costumes. She is so thankful for the opportunity to design The Three Little Pigs & Three Billy Goats Gruff. Other design credits include A Christmas Carol, Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! and The Toymaker’s Apprentice. Nikki has also designed for the Arkansas Shakespeare Festival, Murry’s Dinner Playhouse and for UALR Opera. Thank you for supporting us in helping children’s imaginations grow! Penelope Poppers (Lighting Designer) is excited to be starting a 6th season here at The Children’s Theatre, “It’s been a fun ride so far!” Penelope is a Little Rock native and is glad to call Little Rock and The Arkansas Arts Center home. Special thanks to Nugget and Jeremy, who always appear happy when she comes home. Miranda Young (Properties Master) started at the AAC Children’s Theatre as a child actor and is excited to return for her sixth season as properties master and designer. She studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and received a BFA in Printmaking and Painting. She also works as a children’s instructor and printmaking instructor for the Museum School at the Arkansas Arts Center. Miranda has also designed the sets for several Children’s Theatre productions including Miss Nelson Has a Field Day, The Giant and the Beanstalk and If You Give a Pig a Pancake. Sinovia Mayfield (Production Stage Manager) The 2012- 2013 season marks her third season as the theatre’s stage manager and her fourth with the Arts Center. She has worked with many theatres in the region, but got her start in theatre as a child right here at the Arkansas Arts Center. A proud Little Rock native, Sinovia encourages all patrons to support local art programs. Special thanks to her friends and family for their support. Jimi Brewi (Painter/Narrator/Technical Director) received his Masters of Fine Arts in Children’s Theatre from the University of Memphis in 1984 and came straight to the Arts Center. Jimi is the AAC technical director, builds all of the sets and acts once or twice a year. Jimi was last seen as the Mr. Tumnus in the AACCT production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Other favorite past roles include Renfield in Dracula, Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Robin Hood and Eeyore. Jimi enjoys golfing, fishing and chasing his three grandchildren.

INTERNS AND APPRENTICES

The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre accepts a limited number of interns and apprentices to work with its production staff in an educational program designed to prepare them to enter the professional theatre field. Diana León (Production Intern) is thrilled to be returning to the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre as a staff member after participating in so many programs as a student. Diana holds a BA in Studio Arts from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Special thanks to her parents and the AACCT staff for welcoming her back. Emily Newman (Production Intern) is earning her first professional credits this season at the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre. Emily has studied with AACCT’s Summer Theatre Academy and is an early high school graduate. She has recently worked as a member of the run crew for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She would like to thank her family for their support and the Children’s Theatre staff for welcoming her to a second home.
