Our trip to Condover Hall

Condover Hall is located in Condover which is two and a half hours away from Bedford (198.6km). Condover Hall is where some schools go for their residential trip. What things can be done at Condover hall?

At Condover Hall a range of activities were arranged for us to do, there are different types of fun activities. Some take place on water (e.g., kayaking), some take place high above the ground (e.g., ariel trek) and some take place on the ground (e.g., archery). There are indoor and outdoor activities but most of them are outdoors. There are many opinions on activities, some opinions on activities differ depending on when each group completed the activity meaning some did kayaking in the rainy, cold weather and hated it while others did kayaking in the warm, sunny weather and loved it. There are 5 activities every day.

What is the food like at Condover Hall?

Food at Condover Hall is served after 4-6 hours; at three different times : breakfast is served at 8:00, lunch is at 12:50 and dinner is at 5:50. There are many options when choosing what to eat. At breakfast there is a choice of toast with an optional spread or cereal with milk, at lunch there is a choice of non-vegetarian food and vegetarian food – this is also the same with dinner, for dessert there is a choice to either have healthy fruit or the other option that is being served (this dish changes every day) and is mostly something sweet like cake or doughnuts.

Is there spare time?

Spare time is given after activities and after lunch and dinner. After activities spare time is given for around 15 minutes this time is either to change depending on the next activity or go to the toilet, however after dinner or lunch you get about 30 – 40 minutes this time is used for taking a shower or eating snacks and resting.

What are dorms like at Condover Hall?

Dorms at Condover Hall are split into girls’ and boys’ rooms, the dorms include five sets of bunkbeds and a bathroom also a shower room. All the dorms are different some have more space, and some had less. The maximum number of people in a dorm is ten and minimum in a dorm is six.

Are there ghosts and Condover Hall?

JCA (the staff at Condover) say there have been sightings of ghosts by visitors and by themselves! There are stories JCA told us about; one of them was about a young girl who roamed around Condover Hall in a bright, red Victorian coat. Sometimes she acts like one of the students, so when schools come the teachers do a count up of students and they always have one extra person, when they turn away and look back, she would be gone…

Summary

Overall Condover Hall is a great experience. This is definitely a place recommended as there are so many exciting activities to conquer and enjoy.
