EXPLODING ENCHANTRESS TAKES TO THE SKIES!

PRICE:10 Chocolate Shillings

Several witnesses spotted a figure that resembled a witch, catapulted across the clear blue skies of yesterday afternoon. Bystanders described the event as, “Well, it was all very calm to begin with, until she blew, blew into the bluest of blueberries!”

In the nearby town of Miltonberg, lived two twin stepsiblings, Hansel and Gretel. They had been sent out by their mother to collect even more firewood, moments before they overheard the secretive conversation between their parents, that they could not afford their upkeep.

“Eaves-dropping on this conversation made me extremely emotional and terribly upset,” cried Hansel tearfully. Local village experts have confirmed that the children were neglected for some time and had tried to run as far away from their cottage as possible. Tired and exhausted, they eventually stumbled into the Secret Woods. Unable to recall when they last had a proper meal, they feasted their hungry eyes upon the most delightful treat…

A delicately decorated gingerbread house!... A warm and hospitable little, old, oversized lady waddled out of her house and invited them inside. Much to their disappointment, Hansel was crammed into a rusty cage,

to be fattened before consumption, whilst Gretel was transformed into Cinderella, her personal slave. Unknown to the blind witch, instead of being fed with high calorie foods such as cake and crisps, Gretel said that she fed Hansel all her slim fast drinks!

Now raging with hunger pangs, the infuriated witch began to gorge on her own gingerbread house. “Within moments it started. First the lips swelled. Then it was only a matter of time until she started scratching all over like a flea infested rat!” exclaimed Hansel. Then came her inflation, up, up and away she went. Eventually the balloon like creature detonated over the junior school playground of Bedford Modern School. A specimen of a wart on the end of the remains of her nose was sent for pathological investigation, results of which have confirmed that this peculiar species was in fact a witch. Medical scientists have proven that this witch was also suffering from an allergy to cystine-proteinase GP-1, an ingredient found naturally in ginger.

Fortunately for Hansel and Gretel, their mother now spends all day, every day practicing her TT rockstars with Mr Bucktin. As for Hansel and Gretel, they now run an international bakery, www.everythingingerbread.com . BMS junior correspondent.

Describing a Beast

The beast stood as tall as a tower and was the colour of ice with sharp, pointy scales. When its beady eyes looked at you, your heart would shatter into a thousand pieces. The beast’s teeth were as sharp as diamonds and the colour of copper. Its roar was a thunderous growl that could shake the land and make you scream in fear. If you touched a spike on the beast’s tail, your heart would turn to stone for all eternity.

Amrita S 3ACS

The beast stood as strong as a mountain and as tall as a giant. With one touch of its venom tipped wings, you would perish in the blink of an eye. The beast’s powerful ears on its dragon-like head could hear for miles around.

Violet M 3ACS

The highly poisonous beast lay slumped on its latest victim’s floor. It was a murderous sight as, when the bloody beast’s belly bulged, I saw a skull pressed against its swollen stomach. It could sense my presence and its five protruding yellow eyes with the power to petrify fixed on my hiding spot. The monster slid towards me oozing with poisonous slime and its one snail-like foot smacked the floor. It shrieked an awful high-pitched noise like a hundred pterodactyls all cawing at once. It gave me a great view of its two tusk-like canines and a hundred rows of teeth whirling like drills.

Childhood

When Queen Victoria was born, she was fifth in the line of succession and George III was king. On the 23rd January 1820, her father died and then a week later, her grandfather died, the King, King George III so George IV became King. Becoming Queen

On the 20th June 1837, Queen Victoria woke up as a queen as she found out that her uncle and the king, William IV, died of heart failure in Windsor Castle. Over a year later, Queen Victoria had her coronation when she was just 18 years old. She was the first monarch to live in Buckingham Palace. The coronation was rather chaotic and ‘botched’. Before her coronation in fact, she had episcophobia, the fear of bishops but she gladly got it over it before the coronation.

Married Life

On the 15th October 1839, Queen Victoria got engaged to her German second cousin, Albert Emmanuel and then got married on him on the 10th February 1840 in St. James’ Palace Chapel. She wore a dress that was white and had roses on it. Together, they had nine children. Five girls: Victoria (1840), Alice (1843), Helena (1846), Louise (1848) and Beatrice (1857). Four boys: Albert Edward (1841), Alfred (1844), Arthur (1850) and Leopold (1853). Queen Victoria opened the Great Exhibition on the 1st May 1851, a massive exhibition to educate the public and show off to the world British inventions and discoveries. Prince Albert also co-organized it with Henry Cole. Prince Albert had a huge passion for making the Exhibition a reality.

After Albert

On the 14th December 1861, Albert died from Typhoid fever, a fever caused from sewage water, aged 42 in Windsor Castle. Queen Victoria went into mourning, by wearing black, for the rest of her life. On the 29th March 1871, Queen Victoria opened the Royal Albert Hall in Albert’s memory. This event affected the rest of her reign.

Celebrations and Declarations

On the 1st May 1876, Queen Victoria was declared Empress of India even though India has been under British rule since 1858. This declaration was under direction of the Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. On the 3rd May 1887, Queen Victoria celebrated her 50th year on the throne in her Golden Jubilee. They had a banquet and 50 kings and princes were invited. Golden Jubilee medals were given to those who participated in the celebrations. Ten years later, on the 20th June, Queen Victoria celebrated 60 years in her Diamond Jubilee. There was a garden party and a banquet again.

Death

On the 22nd January 1901, Queen Victoria died of a stroke in Osborne House, East-Cowies. She was 81 when she died and she ruled the United Kingdom for almost 64 years. Victoria and Albert were both buried in Frogmore Mausoleum.

Conclusion

Was Queen Victoria a good Queen?

At the time, Queen Victoria was known as a good queen. She was protective of her people, the British Empire and expanded the Empire’s land – this showed she cared about her people. She brought the Industrial Revolution, bringing inventions, factories and more. She slowly gave more rights to women and the poor, and improved schools. She started the Royal Police Force to protect the people and more. Now, we can see that her actions have affected how we live today. We know now that she isn’t as a good a queen we once thought she was.

What were the legacies of Queen Victoria’s reign?

Queen Victoria left behind great things and also bad things. She changed the school system and left Britain in power and respected by the World. The inventions from her time now are being used a lot today a lot. Queen Victoria expanded the monarchy and left behind a Britain which was completely different from when she first came to the throne. She left women, children and the poor more equal, but she started the events to cause Climate Change. We are now having to pay for her actions. The further we go, more problems arise about her reign and era.
