Things You Need To Know

(But Probably Don’t)

“The system cannot be fixed by the system.” ~Tom Morello

By Gary Z McGee

www.themindunleashed.com

I

T IS OF the first order of importance to remember this: “the system cannot be fixed by the system.” It can only be fixed by the resistance of healthy, reasonable, imaginative, knowledgeable, compassionate and non-violent individuals. It can only be fixed by people who have reconditioned their cultural conditioning, unmatrixed the Matrix, ninjaneered their statist indoctrination, and unwashed their political brainwash. All of this despite uncomfortable cognitive dissonance, myopic tribal affiliation, and blind nationalism. In short: the system can only be fixed by people who have dared to take a leap of courage outside the box of the system itself, and then double-dogged dared themselves to gain knowledge that undermines the unhealthy system while proactively building a healthier system.

The Expansion Of Imperial War Undermines Freedom

“At the end of the cold war we could have diverted tax dollars to the quality of our lives, things like health care, education, infrastructure, eliminating poverty, and protecting against climate change. Alas, the peace dividend never happened. Why not? Because the military, and persons profiting from the military, like weapons manufacturers and their lobbyists in Congress didn’t want to. That’s why. Only 8 percent of Americans polled in 2014 wanted the United States to lead the world military. But that 8 percent won out. That’s plutocracy.” ~Ted Stanford, WWII Navy Veteran If slavery is the opposite of freedom, then war is probably its inverse. It’s simple: human beings cannot be free when other human beings are threatening them with guns and bombs. To the extent that guns and bombs are necessary is only in a defense-minded sense. Otherwise, the use of guns and bombs is just cold, calculated, murderous and offensive, war. It is only necessary if the Nonaggression principle has been violated and the loss of human life is at stake. Then, and only in a defensive sense, is the use of bombs and guns necessary. The problem with war today is that it is not defense-minded but offense-minded. It is built upon an imperialist agenda and a money-making war machine that’s bolstered by a fight against phantom-terrorism that cannot be won. It seeks power and the control of natural resources, usually at the expense of innocent lives. In short: it is offensive and overreaching and not conducive to healthy and free human beings.

2

The Bloated Military Budget Undermines Freedom

“Once weapons were manufactured to fight wars. Now wars are manufactured to sell weapons.” ~Arundhati Roy

Page 2

The main reason the war machine is so offensive and overreaching is because of the bloated military budget. Exacerbated by warprofiteering companies like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, the U.S. military is larger than the next seven militaries in the world, combined! Let that sink in. World military spending totaled more than $1.6 trillion in 2015. The U.S. accounted for 37 percent of that total. If that’s not a bloated military, I don’t know what is. It’s time to scale back. It’s time to see the military industrial complex for what it really is: a terrorist generating war machine propped up by profiting weapons manufacturers. The propaganda machine that the military industrial complex uses to convince its citizens that it needs more money is based on myopic nationalistic pride that imagines the money is going to our brave military men and women. Nothing could be further from the truth. It goes toward $200 million B-52 bombers and faulty F-35 fighter jets costing $400 billion each. Each! That is the height of insanity. Just imagine what use that money could go towards. And yet we all just go about our day imagining that the government knows best. Meanwhile, our education system falters, our health care is being eroded, and our infrastructure crumbles. We can no longer see the error of our ways. As Noam Chomsky said, “The general population doesn’t know what’s happening, and it doesn’t even know that it doesn’t know.” And here we are, not even caring that we don’t know.

3

The Continual Bailing Out Of Big Banks Undermines Freedom

“The federal rescue of Wall Street didn’t fix the economy – it created a permanent bailout state based on a Ponzilike confidence scheme. And the worst may be yet to come.” ~Matt Taibbi Bailing out Wall Street was the ultimate bait-and-switch. It turns out that we’ve all been bamboozled. This mafia-esc, multilayered, lie-upon-lie shit-cake goes so deep that it fooled congress twice into eating it –hook, line, and sinker. This article goes into detail about it. (https://www.rollingstone. com/politics/politics-news/secretsand-lies-of-the-bailout-113270/) The biggest problem with the bail out, other than that it has further entrenched the Too Big to Fail banking system, is that it has made lying on behalf of the most corrupt banks the official policy of the United States government. This undermines freedom because it not only allows power to become absolute, it allows power to corrupt absolutely. There must be checks and balances on power. Especially power over people’s lives. Unchecked power tends to become tyrannical power. Tyrannical power tends to become evil. Failed systems should be allowed to fail lest failure be confused with success in some Orwellian double-spoken way.

GROECOLOGY IS THE science behind sustainable agriculture, from the ground up. It encourages democratic, decentralized decision-making by farmers and incorporates practical, low cost and ecology-based technologies for productive farming. The increasingly globalized industrial food system that transnational agribusiness promotes is not feeding the world and is responsible for some of the planet’s most pressing political, social and environmental crises. Localized, traditional methods of food production have given way to globalized supply chains dominated by transnational companies policies and actions which have resulted in the destruction of habitat and livelihoods and the imposition of corporatecontrolled, chemical-intensive (monocrop) agriculture that weds farmers and regions to a wholly exploitative system of neoliberal globalization. Whether it involves the undermining or destruction of what were once largely self-sufficient agrarian economies in Africa or the devastating impacts of soy cultivation in Argentina or palm oil production in Indonesia, transnational agribusiness and global capitalism cannot be green-washed. In their rush to readily promote neoliberal dogma and corporate PR, many take as given that profit-driven transnational corporations have a legitimate claim to be custodians of natural assets. There is the premise that water, seeds, land, food, soil and agriculture should be handed over to powerful, corrupt transnational corporations to milk for profit, under the pretense these entities are somehow serving the needs of humanity.

The Seeds of Agroecology and Common Ownership These natural assets (‘the commons’) belong to everyone and any stewardship should be carried out in the common interest by local people assisted by public institutions and governments acting on their behalf, not by private transnational corporations driven by self-interest and the maximization of profit by any means possible. The Guardian columnist George Monbiot notes the vast wealth the economic elite has accumulated at our expense through its seizure of the commons. A commons is managed not for the accumulation of capital or profit but for the steady production of prosperity or wellbeing of a particular group, who might live in or beside it or who created and sustain it. Unlike state spending, according to

Monbiot, a commons obliges people to work together, to sustain their resources and decide how the income should be used. It gives community life a clear focus and depends on democracy in its truest form. However, the commons have been attacked by both state power and capitalism for centuries. In effect, resources that no one invented or created, or that a large number of people created together, are stolen by those who see an opportunity for profit. We need only look at how Cargill captured the edible oils processing sector in India and in the process put many thousands of village-based workers out of work. Or how Monsanto conspired to design a system of intellectual property rights that allowed it to patent seeds as if it had manufactured and

invented them. Or how India’s indigenous peoples have been forcibly ejected from their ancient forestlands due to state’s collusion with mining companies. As Monbiot says, the outcome is a rentier economy: those who capture essential resources seek to commodify them – whether trees for timber, land for real estate or agricultural seeds, for example – and force everyone else to pay for access. While spouting platitudes about ‘choice’, ‘democracy’ and ‘feeding the world’, the corporate agribusiness/agritech industry is destroying the commons and democracy and displacing existing localized systems of production. Economies are being “opened up through the concurrent displacement of pre-existing productive systems. Small and medium-sized enterprises are pushed into bankruptcy or obliged to produce for a global distributor, state enterprises are privatized or closed down, independent agricultural producers are impoverished” (Michel Chossudovsky in The Globalization of Poverty, p16). For thousands of years farmers experimented with different plant and animal specimens acquired through migration, trading networks, gift exchanges or accidental diffusion. By learning and doing, trial and error, new knowledge was blended with older, traditional knowledge systems. The farmer possesses acute observation, good memory for detail and transmission through teaching and story telling. The same farmers whose seeds and knowledge were stolen by corporations to be bred for proprietary chemical-dependent hybrids, now to be genetically engineered Large corporations with their proprietary

“Who we are being is the origin of our power.” iamsaums.com

AS IT SEEMS: Social reality is an intricate tapestry of chaos, duality and oblivion. It is a human invention we enable and sustain into existence with our participation. A paradigm imposed upon us to provide a societal orientation, standard and structure. We live it into being with our apathy, dependence, doubt and indifference. Yet, it doesn’t benefit or serve us. It only maintains a routine status quo to give the impression of empowering opportunity, though delivering a fraction of the potential it promises. Reality is a slight-of-perception con that preoccupies us with perpetual distraction. It is a security blanket we use to avoid our purpose. SO IT IS: We are all captive to linear existence. Duality reigns with a strong arm of constant opposition. The burden of surviving far overshadows the freedom of thriving. Our pursuit to carve out a paltry role for ourselves within society diminishes our vision and passion to create and fulfill our destiny. Social regulation and restriction stymy our ability to transcend all we know of life to embrace all that is possible. Familiarity and predictability are anchors that tether us to our artificial comfort, security and understanding. Our lives are only as abundant and expansive as we choose to live. INNOCENCE LOST: Social reality is pulled over our eyes from an early age. The ruse is more apparent to us in our youth. Our curious observation allows us to see things as they truly are before we are methodically indoctrinated into its deception. As we grow accustomed to the illusion, we invest our lives into it. Eventually, we divert our energy and focus away from our awareness, creativity, destiny and truth. We replace our purpose with desire, chasing a life that is not our own. As we mature into adulthood, our intent becomes one of satisfying the desires of our ego instead of cultivating the fulfillment of our soul. AGAINST THE GRAIN: We must disengage from our personal dramas, judgments, opinions and vices to escape the enslavement of reality. What makes our freedom seemingly impossible is our addiction and oblivion to our behaviors, habits and thoughts. Our pursuit for advantage, control and self-righteousness diminishes our ability to express our personal power. We lose it only when we surrender it to others or our circumstances. Our fear of claiming and living our power prevents our potential to become it. Far too often we obstruct our own way and negate our possibilities well before they appear. PARADIGM SHIFT: When things in our life are not working or as well as they could, we have an opportunity to transform them in ways that transcend our expectations. What we need most is a necessity for centering, grounding and living. Breathing instantly shifts our awareness. Focusing on our breath as we inhale and exhale gives us the ability to become present to much more than ourselves and our environments. It allows us to shift from an existence of doing to an experience of being. When we are conscious of our breath, we reclaim our balance, expression and power. Our breath is our fountain of youth.

“Our power is in the stillness beyond its strength.” THE JOURNEY WITHIN: The greatest dilemma humanity will ever encounter is seeking outside of itself for what can only be found within. Social reality is teeming with billions of actions and thoughts all ricocheting off our collective cognizance. The universe within is far more beneficial than the one around us. Simply closing our eyes to the visual world and becoming an observer of society and our self transforms our experience. We awaken to all that is possible by synching our body, mind and heart with our soul. When we free ourselves from the encompassing imposition of reality, we begin to embrace our true power. PRESENT IN THE PRESENT: When we disengage from the reality around us through our breath and observation, our being shifts into a multi-dimensional experience. Everything that preoccupied our instincts, thoughts and feelings disappears. All we are aware of is now. How we are present in the present establishes the relationship we have with our essence. The moment in which we are conscious expands into eternity. We become a universal expression through which we empower ourselves and others. We coexist with all that was, is and ever will be. Every imaginable possibility is available for us to intend and embody. UNIVERSAL VOICE: We are creators. Whether we are artists, musicians or writers in any form of medium, we all have the capacity to envision and manifest

Power

our spirit into our reality. This is the foundation of who we become and how we exist. The purpose of our creativity defines the power we personify. It is up to us to choose how, why and who we are in our life. Our intuition conveys the energy and purpose of our soul to inspire our imagination. Our heart feels and our mind articulates the insights we encounter. We are all messengers of the universe, destined to be an expression of the source. THE POWER OF PURPOSE: Power is not a force we impose on others to gain an advantage or supplement our fear and insecurity. Nor is it a means to an end. It is the pathway that guides our destiny. The focus of our intent is what manifests all we imagine. Our purpose is what inspires our vision and mission. Our daily practice of it fulfills our calling. Though everything that is not our destiny will arise to challenge our intention, all we encounter further defines and strengthens our commitment. All we become originates and empowers our intent. Our personal power is the manifestation of our purpose. THE ART OF BEING: We are not the sum of our ability, belief, education or wisdom. These are all reflective features that merely complement our identity. Our instinct, thought, emotion and intuition define our experience. The balance between the four dimensions of our being sustains our relationship with our spirit. Our commitment to express our soul into reality is who we are in the present. This is the key that opens us to everything beyond what our body can perform, our mind can think, our heart can feel and our intuition can envision. Our ability to create our life is a blessing beyond our imagination. Who we are being is our power to transform ourselves and the world. “The only power that will ever fulfill us is our own.”

S BELOW SO above, folks. What we do unto others we will have done unto us. That which we have sown we must by definition reap. What we have cultivated or allowed to be cultivated from or into, what we do becomes who we are. Environment is another word for reality, and ours is become something other than natural and wholesome, harmonious or free. Luckily all things must end. At some point what goes up must come down, chickens don’t fly, not into the sky nor out of their coops, regardless of possessing the necessary equipment and superb deadly motivation, all because they’ve accepted their terrible fate, unquestioningly: and that all goes for humanity as well. The Human family has been compromised. The great monster, the serpent Jörmungandr, has encircled the World, all the while the dragon Níðhöggr continues to gnaw through Yggdrasil’s root, while Ragnarök, the twilight of the gods, is come. “Brothers fight and kill each other, sisters’ children defile kinship. It is harsh in the world, whoredom rife— an axe age, a sword age—shields are riven—a wind age, a wolf age—before the world goes headlong. No man will have mercy on another.” Heavens, quite the drama. Fairly accurate stuff, mind you. Good to remember that this is also a time of heroes, although that heroism isn’t of the sort that our ancient Norse forefathers or mothers might necessarily recognize as it must needs come from an altogether different place than that of war and survival. Although in a sense it is a fight and we must be warriors, yet it is our great joy to reinterpret those actions, re-conceptualizing them and ourselves within the context of our times and what we wish to create anew, whom we choose to become, and where we would prefer to steer the narrative of our existence. Divinity or that other sad choice? Heroism in this day and age often amounts in choosing to not give or buy into the hype, the lie, the nonsense, that the separate selfish self presently possessing humanity’s consciousness is, ad nauseum, ever herding the masses towards. Not exactly the easiest task. In many ways I’d rather just swing at evil with an axe, cutting off the foul serpentine heads of narcissistic selfimportance wherever they appear, were it even possible, and basking in the celebratory adulation of my people as a hero returned triumphant. And though that happy destiny is unavoidable, and this mission is the one I signed up for, actualizing multidimensionality within these tight confines sure isn’t what I expected. Still, daring to be loving, to be Love itself, in the very face of its opposite is a thrill and a hell of a ride; and all worthwhile, particularly when you get to see that special look of final understanding of who’s really who and what’s really what dawn on evil’s façade of folly. Priceless really. Worth the cost of admission, whether you remember how it all ends or not. “There is no coming to consciousness without pain, People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” ~ Carl Jung Page 5

Nocturnal Remissions You see, evil, regardless of the slick marketing con, and it is slick, ubiquitous, politically correct and perpetually offended, convincing and terribly well funded (no coincidence there): Evil, my friends, is dumb, and ugly too. This mad scramble to the top of Mount Stupid, eventually to be flushed back down and away into the abyss as must happen, as is happening, is a paradoxically no-win scenario (although everyone wins in the end) and hardly the best we can come up with as the creative bunch of coconuts we truly are. show, to go their way, live their story, accept their depravities and perversions, go along with their nightmare ride through hell and experience the sickening distortions of our own natures in a downwardly spiraling carnal carnival of despair, one they so desperately want and need us to buy into, fooling us into believing in a fraudulent debt for being alive. Or else they perish, they expire, a foul flatulence, not unlike a vulgar wind passing through darkness’ own rectum after a cannibal’s feast of macabre horror, followed by a few too many (or just the right amount of) searingly hot peppers of power, as painful and poignant as purgative. Death is an exhalation, an expiration: Life an inspiration.

“People wish to be inspired, but what is the nature of true inspiration? Inspiration is unblocked energy. Understanding does the unblocking, which releases energy and inspiration. True inspiration abides quietly, but also flashes out with special brilliance, as when we grasp a new truth for the first time. We must be careful not to mistake emotional stimulation for loving inspiration. Stimulation fades, for it depends upon something outside of itself, but inspiration is both its own energy and its own source of energy.” ~ Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE So don’t believe the propaganda. The enlightened man cannot be enslaved - that is the difficulty - and he cannot be imprisoned.... Every genius who has known something of the inner is bound to be a little difficult to be absorbed; he is going to be an upsetting force. The masses don’t want to be disturbed, even though they may be in misery; they are in misery, but they are accustomed to the misery. And anybody who is not miserable looks like a stranger. The enlightened man is the greatest stranger in the world; he does not seem to belong to anybody. No organization confines him, no community, no society, no nation.”~ OSHO I love my life. I have to say it. Here I’ve been remiss. I’m actually ashamed that, and deeply humbled by, how long it’s taken for me to smarten up enough to see how much damage it was doing me not saying so, intending that, and more of it, embracing life I mean, as an action of gratitude, to be grateful enough to realize that this life is a gift beyond measure and to know that I, we, are equal to this gift, this fractal chrysalis of change, wonder, of transformation and growth. Whether busily rocketing away in our dreams, diligently preening the feathers of freedom, and eventually re-rooting our selves in an entirely new paradigm, our task is straightforward, believe it or not, mirificent and an incredible amount of fun. And, as luck would have it brings us full circle back to the title of this little ditty. A remission is a cancellation of debt, charge or penalty, a diminution of the seriousness of disease and pain, a temporary recovery, a formal forgiveness of sins, a sending back, if you will, a restoration. We’ve already paid folks, and then some. Now it’s time to claim our prize. Wonder why. Ask why. Ask why and never stop. Why is the world the way it is? Why are we? Why are some things legal and others not? Why, as Dr. Seuss so perfectly put it: “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” And believe you me: you don’t want to fit into where they want to put you. This simple question is the central pillar upon which my personal freedom is founded. Drove my father mad with its repetition - but taught me all I know. Question all appearances, and the rest of it too. Take absolutely nothing for granted, and then literally and figuratively become your very own dream come true. We are the secret to our own joy. Come from your heart and you cannot lose, cannot become lost, at least not for long. Dare, for daring is what is called for here, dare to be all that you can be, an invincible army of One, of Love, unconquerable and free. And laugh, laugh, laugh. Nocturnally and otherwise. “Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.” ~ Mark Twain

Cannabis A Lost History

By Dr. Mercola

ANNABIS, BETTER KNOWN as marijuana, has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. It’s been heralded as a “cure-all,” revered for its healing properties, particularly for pain but also as a potential anticancer treatment. Marijuana was a popular botanical medicine in the 19th and 20th centuries, common in U.S. pharmacies of the time. It wasn’t until 1970 that the herb was declared a Schedule 1 controlled substance in the U.S., a classification reserved for drugs with “high potential for abuse” and “no accepted medical use.” Three years later the Drug Enforcement Agency was formed to enforce the newly created drug schedules, and the fight against marijuana use began. In light of its history as a global panacea for all sorts of ills, it’s classification as a controlled substance is particularly unjustified. As noted in the documentary “Cannabis: A Lost History,” written, directed and narrated by Chris Rice, marijuana has been “an integral part of human civilization,” featuring in ancient Japanese cave paintings, as well as Chinese and Siberian burial rites dating back to 3000 B.C. Based on the evidence — especially the discovery that the human body is equipped with a cannabinoid system — it appears our relationship with cannabis goes back to the very dawn of the human species. Historical remnants from all around the world also reveal the importance of cannabis in medicine and spirituality. For example, Taoist monks in ancient China burned cannabis as incense, and consumed it with ginseng — a combination thought to open your psychic centers, allowing you to see the future. Cannabis was also revered as sacred in Hinduism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism. Cannabis: A Lost History (FULL DOCUMENTARY) https://youtu.be/X2p6qFT_Zjg

Cannabinoids and the Cannabinoid Receptor System

The marijuana plant contains more than 60 different cannabinoids; chemical compounds the human body is uniquely equipped to respond to. The two primary ones are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the latter of which is the psychoactive component. Cannabinoids interact with your body by way of naturally occurring cannabinoid receptors embedded in cell membranes throughout your body. There are cannabinoid receptors in your brain, lungs, liver, kidneys, immune system and more; the therapeutic (and psychoactive) properties of marijuana occur when a cannabinoid activates a cannabinoid receptor. Your body also has naturally occurring endocannabinoids similar to THC that stimulate your cannabinoid receptors and produce a variety of important physiologic processes. So, your body is actually hard-wired to Page 6

respond to cannabinoids through this unique cannabinoid receptor system. We still don’t know exactly how far its impact on your health reaches, but to date it’s known that cannabinoid receptors play an important role in many body processes, including metabolic regulation, pain, anxiety, bone growth and immune function. 1

The Earliest History of Cannabis

According to the featured video, the earliest written references to cannabis are found in the Chinese Materia Medica, said to be written by Shen Nung around 2800 B.C. The oldest known copy of this book dates back to 50 B.C. Nung is one of three “celestial emperors” revered in the Chinese culture. “Half emperor, half deity, he is said to have ruled over China long before written history,” Rice says. Nung is credited with inventing agriculture — including the hoe, plow and irrigation — as well as acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Often depicted draped in leaves and chewing on various plants, Nung was the first pharmacologist, experimenting with and recording the health effects of plants. Nung documented around 100 different conditions that responded well to cannabis, including gout, rheumatism, malaria and absentmindedness. Before Nung declared its medicinal attributes, the cannabis plant, called “ma” in Chinese, had been used for centuries in the production of textiles, paper, rope and pottery. Around 200 A.D., a Chinese physician named Hua Tuo performed the first surgery using an anesthetic — a formula called Ma Fei San, which translates to “cannabis boiling powder.” For thousands of years, cannabis remained one of the 50 essential plants used in TCM. It was only removed from widespread use in recent times due to its controversial legal status. The film also reviews the history of cannabis in Indian culture. In the Vedas, the sacred text of India, cannabis (bhang) is listed as one of five sacred plants, and the Hindu god Shiva is referred to as “Lord of the bhang,” meaning the Lord of cannabis. According to the Mahanirvana, “bhang is consumed in order to liberate oneself,” and liberation is the path to immortality. The ancient Egyptians, Persians and Greeks also used cannabis in a variety of ways, including medicinally and for spiritual upliftment. References to cannabis are even found in Islamic, Judaic and Christian texts, although an error in translation appears to have crept into the Bible along the way. The original Hebrew term “kaneh bosm,” or cannabis, is found several times in the Old Testament. In Exodus, chapter 30, God instructs Moses on how to make a holy anointing oil: “Take for yourself choice spices: 500 shekels of pure myrrh, half as much fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of kaneh bosm and 500 shekels of cassia and mix these with olive oil.” In more modern Bibles, kaneh bosm has been translated as sweet calamus. The problem is this plant does not have the properties that the Bible ascribes to kaneh bosm.

Story continues on page 7

According to the film, a 12th century painting found in a Sicilian basilica also “appears to show Jesus near a pot leaf.” The painting is titled “Jesus healing the blind.” Interestingly enough, “modern scientific studies have since proven that cannabis delays retinal degeneration,” Rice says.

The American History of Cannabis

In the U.S., the prohibition of marijuana began to turn in 1996 when California became the first state to legalize medical cannabis. Since then, many others have followed. In 2012, Colorado and Washington state became the first states to legalize its recreational use. Today, the majority of Americans support cannabis either as a medicine, for recreational use, or both. Surveys show at least 4 in 10 Americans have tried marijuana, while nearly 60 percent support full legalization. A 2013 survey found a majority of physicians — 76 percent — also approve of the use of medical marijuana. 2 CNN’s chief medical correspondent and neurosurgeon Sanjay Gupta also made a highly publicized reversal on his marijuana stance after the production of his two-part series “Weed,” which aired in 2014. 3 The American history of cannabis goes back to our Founding Fathers, who cultivated the plant for industrial purposes. George Washington, for example, is said to have grown more than 100 hemp plants at his home in Mount Vernon, Virginia. 4 Cannabis is called hemp when being used for its fibers, which are extracted from the stem and constructed into rope, clothing and paper. Hemp plants are low in tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) levels and therefore do not get you high. During the 17th century, hemp was viewed as an important cash crop. It was used for rope by navies around the world, and as a thick durable linen ideal for clothing and packaging heavy materials. Hemp seed oil was used in soaps, paints and varnishes. The battle that has raged over marijuana is a long and arduous one. You can read a brief history of marijuana prohibition in the Huffington Post. 5 Still, movements to

Page 7

legalize marijuana have persisted throughout, starting as early as 1973, when Oregon became the first state to decriminalize cannabis. The most successful movement to date, and the one that produced the first legal marijuana market in decades, is the medical marijuana movement. Medical cannabis is now legal in 30 U.S. states, 6,7 the majority of which allow limited use of medical marijuana under certain medical circumstances, although some limit medical cannabis to oils or pills only. Eight states have legalized it for recreational use. A number of municipalities have also created their own marijuana rules, either decriminalizing it, legalizing it, enacting rules that direct city law enforcement to cease arresting individuals for marijuana possession, or making cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement.

What Can Cannabis Treat?

As mentioned, your body makes its own cannabinoids, similar to those found in marijuana, but in much smaller amounts. These endocannabinoids appear to perform signaling operations similar to your body’s neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin. Cannabinoid receptors can be found on cell membranes throughout your body. In fact, scientists now believe they may represent the most widespread receptor system. 8 The fact that your body is replete with cannabinoid receptors, key to so many biological functions, is why there’s such enormous medical potential for cannabis. Even though research has been limited by its classification as a Schedule 1 controlled substance, its list of medicinal benefits is still quite long. For example, cannabis has been found useful in the treatment of: 9,10,11,12,13 n Mental disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder, mood disorders and Tourette’s syndrome n Seizure disorders such as epilepsy n Pain (in one study, 14 three puffs of marijuana a day for five days

decreased chronic nerve pain) n Rheumatoid arthritis n Spasticity, dystonia and tremors Heart disease n Multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune issues n Autism n Parkinson’s disease n Chronic fatigue syndrome n Cancer, including melanoma, leukemia and cancers of the brain, breast, prostate, lung, head and neck, 15 thyroid, colon and pituitary n Nausea, vomiting and lack of appetite 16 n Insomnia n HIV/AIDS n Amyotrophic lateral sclerosi n Crohn’s disease n Anorexia n Alzheimer’s disease (the U.S. government, through the Department of Health and Human Services, holds a patent on CBD as a neuroprotectant) n Hepatitis-C n Cachexia (wasting syndrome) n Asthma n Drug dependency and withdrawal n High blood pressure Among the most exciting research is that on cancer. Not only does cannabis help with the unpleasant side effects of traditional chemotherapy (including pain, nausea and insomnia), but the cannabis itself appears to be a natural chemotherapy agent. 17 Researchers have found cannabis is proapoptotic, meaning it triggers cellular suicide of cancer cells while leaving healthy cells untouched, and anti-angiogenic, meaning it cuts off a tumor’s blood supply. Dozens of studies point to marijuana’s effectiveness against many different types of cancer. For example, Harvard researchers found THC

cuts tumor growth in lung cancer while significantly reducing its ability to spread. 18

Medicinal Marijuana Can Help Stem Death Toll From Narcotic Pain Killers

Another area where cannabis offers great hope is in the treatment of pain. Overdoses from narcotic pain killers are now the leading cause of death among Americans under the age of 50, and pharmaceuticals in general have for decades been among the leading causes of death in the U.S. According to Dr. Margaret Gedde, owner and founder of Gedde Whole Health and the Clinicians’ Institute of Cannabis Medicine, research clearly confirms that cannabis is safer and less toxic than many prescription drugs. This includes liver and kidney toxicity, gastrointestinal damage, nerve damage and death. Moreover, cannabinoids often work when pharmaceutical drugs fail, so not only is cannabis safer but it’s typically more effective. Besides treating intractable seizures, one of the strongest areas of research regarding marijuana’s health benefits is pain control. In 2010, the Center for Medical Cannabis Research released a report 19 on 14 clinical studies about the use of marijuana for pain, most of which were FDA-approved, doubleblind and placebo-controlled. The report revealed that marijuana not only controls pain but in many cases, it does so better than pharmaceutical alternatives. If you compare opioids to marijuana, marijuana is unquestionably safer. Contrary to opioids, a cannabis overdose cannot kill you because there are no cannabinoid receptors in your brain stem, the region of your brain that controls your heartbeat and respiration. What’s more, marijuana has been shown to ease withdrawal symptoms in those trying to wean off opioids, which are extremely addictive. In states where medical marijuana is legal, overdose deaths from opioids decreased by an average of 20

dominance has seriously constricted the sciences and hampered the development of the study of mind, consciousness, and spirituality. Furthermore, faith in this paradigm as an exclusive explanatory framework for reality has compelled many scientists to neglect certain aspects of the subjective dimension of human experience. This has led to a severely distorted and impoverished understanding of ourselves and our place in nature.

In Brief

~ The Facts NEW SCIENTIFIC revolution is upon us, which is why hundreds of scientists are gathering to emphasize that matter is not the only reality. There is an entire non-physical reality that’s actually real, and it plays a huge role for science. ~ Reflect On: Science has long been a reflection of human belief, if something is too unbelievable and offends belief systems, it’s usually ignored or criticized. Post material science has tremendous implications in understanding reality and ourselves. In the 1960s, historian and philosopher of science Thomas Kuhn published a book titled The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, which became very influential in both academic and popular circles. In this book, Kuhn proposed that paradigms— theoretical frameworks of scientific disciplines within which theories are formulated and experiments performed—can and should change because sooner or later, they fail to explain observed phenomena. According to Kuhn, when anomalies— experimental observations or other empirical evidence which violates the widely accepted theoretical framework—that the paradigm cannot accommodate accumulate, and persistent efforts by scientists fail to elucidate these anomalies, the scientific community begins to lose confidence in the dominant paradigm and a crisis period ensues. A new paradigm, competing with the old for supremacy, can now be entertained. This new paradigm is not just an extension of the old paradigm, but a completely different worldview.

The Evidence Challenging Scientific Materialism

The New Science of

Consciousness

Toward the Next Great Scientifc Revolution With regard to the study of consciousness, the currently reigning paradigm, known as scientific materialism (or simply materialism), erroneously claims that everything is material (i.e. made up exclusively of physical matter) and that all phenomena are the result of purely material interactions. This worldview implies that mind and consciousness—and all that we subjectively experience (e.g. our memories, emotions, goals, and spiritual epiphanies)— are identical with or can be reduced to electrical and chemical processes in the brain. Another implication of the materialist

paradigm is that our thoughts and intentions cannot have any effect upon our brains and bodies, our actions, and the physical world, since the mind cannot directly affect at a distance physical and biological systems. In other words, we human beings are nothing but complex biophysical machines. As a result, our consciousness and personality automatically vanish when we die. Materialism has more or less dominated science and the academic word for centuries, despite the fact that many of the leading pioneers in modern science have either implicitly or explicitly rejected it. This

There is mounting evidence that the materialist paradigm is obsolete. For instance, studies of the so-called “psi phenomena” (e.g. telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition) indicate that we can sometimes receive meaningful information without the use of ordinary senses, and in ways that transcend the habitual space and time constraints. Furthermore, psi research demonstrates that we can mentally influence—at a distance—physical devices and living organisms (including other human beings). Research also shows that distant minds may behave in ways that are non-locally correlated, i.e. the correlations between distant minds are hypothesized to be unmediated (they are not linked to any known energetic signal), unmitigated (they do not degrade with increasing distance), and immediate (they appear to be simultaneous). Psi phenomena are so common that they cannot be viewed as anomalous nor as exceptions to natural laws, but as indications of the need for a broader explanatory framework that cannot be predicated on materialism. Moreover, conscious mental activity

ELL, ARE YOU a slave to your phone..? Many things aren’t what they used to be because of social media. We don’t talk to each other often anymore, because we’d rather check our mobile phones even if we’re seated at a table with friends and family, and so everyone ends up reaching for their mobile phones as well. According to happiness researcher and psychologist Dr. Tim Bono, social media has changed the ways we relate to each other. We’re updated on what’s happening to the world and to our immediate surroundings faster. We know what our friends and family are up to. But just like any new development, social media can backfire if it’s abused, or not handled well. (h/t to Healthista.com) n Decreased attention span: Social media has given users instant, easy access to information and entertainment. People get so used to instant gratification they can’t control their impulses anymore. Bono believes that if we can’t resist the urge to check Facebook for a silent six-minute period, we might not be able to keep our mind from wandering when it needs to pay attention. Solution: Meditation is the best way to focus on something. With practice, we learn to become better at pinpointing distracting thoughts, and letting them go. We learn to be better at rechanneling our attention back to the work at hand. This skill extends to our ability to persevere through a challenging task despite new social media posts. n It’s addictive: Most of us know that

Page 9

Are You A Slave to Your Phone? Happiness Research Explains How Social Media Is Making You Unhappy we spend long hours checking our social media accounts – but we still do it. That’s because it’s addicting. In the same way, a gambler in Las Vegas continues to place his bets on a favorite game even if he loses big time. The feeling the player gets whenever he expects to hit the jackpot the next time he pulls the lever at the slot machine is the same feeling that we get while we browse social media. Solution: Put your phone away from arm’s reach. Download apps that check or limit the time you spend on certain sites. Bury social media apps in folders on the last screen of your phone. Better yet, don’t use the apps at all and log into a web browser each time you want to log on. n People don’t interact anymore: The strongest component of happiness is the strength of our connections to others. However, this doesn’t refer to the number of friends or followers you have on Facebook or Instagram. Bono says our social media time has encroached on the quality and quantity of our person-to-person connections. We may be seated next to a person, but we’re mentally absent from the situation, passing up the

chance to genuinely connect to the other person on a deeper level. Solution: Check your list of friends instead, and find someone to call. The

happiness you get from a genuine connection to another person will be a lot greater than a random post or like on social media. n Social comparisons become the norm: Bono and other psychologists know that this is a bane: People who measure their worth against what others own find it hard to be happy. Unfortunately, social media lets us know what others have achieved, where they spent their grand vacation and other things that could make us envious. It’s almost impossible not to get carried away by a tidal wave of comparison. Solution: Count your blessings. Those

who take even a few minutes to think about what they must be thankful for, feel happier and more hopeful. Bono says they get sick less than those who don’t see the bright side of things. n Sleep deprivation: Sleep is essential to happiness and well-being. It helps our brain rest and prepares it for the following day. However, feeling anxious, angry and envious of what we see on social media keeps the brain on red alert and prevents us from falling asleep. Solution: Keep your phone off your nightstand. Before going to sleep, do deep breathing exercises or read a book to divert your attention. Choose something that reduces brain activity, which is the opposite of what social media does. For sure, social media has plenty of benefits. However, too much of anything is never good. We have to draw the line between healthy social media use and abuse of this endless source of information and entertainment. UST A FEW decades ago, obese children and adolescents were practically unheard of. Adult obesity rates have also grown spectacularly, with more than300 million cases of clinically obese people in the world. A new study reveals an alarming revelation, however, that children have experienced a 10-fold increase in obesity over the last four decades, with millions expected to struggle with this health issue by the year 2020. Obesity is no laughing matter. Obese children are 50-70 percent more likely to suffer from serious conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other health complications as adults. When a child becomes obese, it is practically a deathsentence. In the very least, childhood obesity is a cry for help – our children are influenced by their families’ behaviors, and the societal conditions that have allowed this epidemic to occur. This isn’t an issue of poor, vs. rich, although there are indeed socio-economic factors at play. Obesity is affecting every segment of society, and when the smallest of children – only three, four, and five-years-old – shows signs of obesity, we would be extraordinarily negligent to continue to ignore this travesty. Are our children simply too lazy to manage their food intake and get a little exercise, or is there more to the story? Obesity is rarely the result of a genetic condition such as a hormonal problem. It is a completely curable disease, based almost entirely (with a few exceptions) on lifestyle choices. Here are some surprising factors that contribute to childhood obesity:

Childhood Obesity

Rates Expected to Grow by Tenfold by 2020

Childhood Stress Metabolic syndrome which accompanies chronic stress is not just a problem for adults. The expectations we have of our children and the societal conditions which push absurd amounts of busy-work (called homework), while failing to give children time to play, get outdoors, and simply be children, is causing depression, and adrenal fatigue in younger and younger generations. We have developed an entire generation of overscheduled kids and anxietyridden parents. When a seven-year-old can’t find time to play – you have to ask yourself what has gone wrong? Academic pressure is just one part of the problem, but it is a big part. When we need to put a law into place (the 504 process) to protect our children from too much homework, we also have to wonder what is to become of our children’s mental and physical health. This does not mean that children shouldn’t have to work hard and study to

learn. However, do kindergarten-aged children need to be so stressed over finishing homework that they can’t head outside to kick a ball around with friends before dinner? To wit, the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) program has not yielded any higher life success rates among our youth. Moreover, academic qualifications do not guarantee life success. This deleterious thinking is adding to our

Poverty, Pharmaceutical Medications (Weaponized Medicine) & Weaponized Food Most people are beginning to understand that Big Food and Big Pharma work in tandem. Big Food simply doesn’t meet people’s nutritional requirements. With approximately two billion people overweight, yet one billion still hungry – something clearly isn’t working. Food insecurity and food scarcity aren’t the paradoxes they seem to be, but two results of a broken system. Our biggest food manufacturers just like our biggest “medicine” providers’ goal is to make the biggest profits, not to supply healthy, life-sustaining food to as many people as possible. For those who would argue that there are simply too many people to feed, and feed

correctly, I offer the following points: n Existing farms already grow enough food to feed the world, only much of it is wasted, or simply unfit to eat. The US throws away as much as half of the food it creates. n Poverty and access to healthy food are inextricably linked. Based on the World Bank’s estimates, someone should be able to eat on $1.90 a day (clearly they don’t shop at Whole Foods, or even their local farmer’s market, but let’s assume even in third world countries someone could actually eat well on that amount). The World Bank estimates that four-fifths of the world lives in abject poverty – where they don’t even have this amount of money to spend on food. Rural incomes simply do not eradicate hunger, let alone sustain healthy eating habits. n Even in Westernized nations where poverty-level incomes are much higher, the access to clean, non-polluted food is “iffy.” Food deserts, where someone would have to travel 50 to 100 miles or more to purchase organic produce, are obviously going to result in someone stopping to buy dinner at the local fried chicken shack, or to purchase canned or boxed goods made by the dozen food manufacturers which control the production of thousands of carcinogenic, obesity-inducing, endocrine- disrupting food additives that are currently contributing to the obesity crisis. These food deserts are located in some surprising places, too, such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Atlanta, GA. n Inadequate food distribution systems contribute to world hunger, while allowing clean, healthy food products to go to waste. n The U.S. currently has the highest obesity rates, and no surprise, the Food and Drug Administration allows hundreds

TOWN IN MEXICO recently celebrated seven years since kicking out the corrupt narco government and reverting back to an indigenous form of self-governance. In the town of Cherán, in Michoacán, Mexico, a system of traditional indigenous law-enforcement and accountability continues to guide the people. In early 2011, residents of Cherán created armed militias to fight off illegal logging and drug cartels in their community. The community kicked out politicians and police accused of ties to the drug cartels and began a new system of governance based on Purhépecha traditions. On April 15 of this year, Cherán celebrated seven years since their revolt against what they call “the narco government”. The people marked the seventh year of self-governance by naming a third Council of Elders. n Celebrating Seven Years of Self Governance in Cherán, Michoacán https://youtu.be/oDspeScGZrQ TV Cherán reports: The narco government included a wide variety of characters, including cartel thugs or “sicarios” working alongside illegal loggers who conspired to ravish Cherán’s forests and anyone who got in their way. Cherán lost over 50 community members between 2007 and 2011. Many of those simply disappeared, never to be seen again. When Cherán rose up, the local mayor, his cabinet, and all the local police

of food additives that are banned in other countries. Even baby formulas in the U.S. that are sold under the same label in other countries contain different ingredients. Is it any wonder that our children are doomed to be obese before they even start eating solid food? n Big Pharma’s medications assault our endocrine systems, immune systems, and regulatory processes in the body. This assault begins at a very young age, resulting in compromised gut flora, which leads to obesity and auto-immune disorders, depression (which often leads to additional food abuse) diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and more. Many prescription medications cause weight gain, and the overuse of antibiotics kills our healthy gut flora, resulting in a skewed hormonal messaging system. We simply don’t know when to stop eating because this gut-brain axis has been so profoundly affected. “The implication is that Page 11

Now They Have the Lowest Crime Rates in Mexico fled the community and left community members to fend for themselves. This and many other details that would come to light during first months of the uprising exposed the collusion of local politicians and the police with organized crime and the very violent and illicit logging activity. Once the corrupt police and politicians left, the community collected the weapons, vehicles, and uniforms and established their own “ronda comunitaria” or community guard. When the uprising first began you might see elderly women with sticks defending the community. These days the community guard is mostly young men and women with professional weapons. Seven years later and Cherán has one of the lowest levels of violence in all of Mexico. Quite an accomplishment while living in the violent state of Michoacán. “[Cherán’s] main achievement has been peace. It has the lowest homicide rate in all of Michoacán – and maybe all of Mexico outside of [the routine exposure to low levels of antibiotics might also promote obesity in humans, although further studies would be needed to determine this,” says Rob Knight from the University of Colorado, who studies the microbiome.

Screen Time and a Lack of Outdoor Green Spaces The age of texting and virtual video gaming is causing increased obesity in our children. Decreased physical activity is likely to blame in large part, however, screen-time itself also seems to change the brain. Too much time on the Internet, or in front of a video game screen makes kids irritable, moody, and impulsive while a simple walk under some trees at a local park, lowers cortisol rates, reduces anxiety, improves cognitive performance, and encourages empathic social behaviors, along with a positive self-image – all traits that obese children struggle with. The lack of green spaces in large urban areas is a huge contributor to obesity rates, and other health issues. However, even suburban areas are seeing a rise in obesity due to the

south-eastern state of] Yucatán, ” Benjamín Fernández, a sociologist at the Centre for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (Ciesas), told The Guardian. “The only thing the parties have done is divide us,” said Salvador Ceja, Cherán’s communal lands commissioner. “Not just here – in

the entire country.” Shortly after the uprising, all cell phone, television, and radio service were reportedly shut off, disconnecting the people from the rest of the world. In this space, the people of Cherán came together to organize nightly “fogatas’, or campfire barricades, which became the central meeting points for organizing. During this process the community came to a consensus and agreed to return to their traditional forms of self-governance using a collective decision making process that continues today. “The fogatas met every night during the uprising,” TV Cheran reported. “Each fogata would send proposals and a representative to neighborhood assemblies and then to community assemblies. The fogata element of the communal government in Cherán was the only new element.” The neighborhood assemblies and the larger general assembly are examples of

sprawling nature of these communities. A lack of walking trails, connected public parks, and other poor planning that overlooks the importance of nature in our lives, should be addressed to reverse this phenomenon. In places like Amsterdam, for example, named the healthiest country in the world, where everyone walks or rides their bike daily, obesity is practically obsolete.

Hope for our Children Despite these seeming insurmountable obstacles, changes in our lifestyle choices and awareness of the problem can result in a seachange – a reversal of our course which will result in the highest recovery rates for future generations of children. We simply must alter the statistic which states that for the first time in human history parents are outliving their progeny. traditional forms of self-governance that were practiced in Cherán 40 years earlier. However, over time political parties and external forms of governance were forced on the people. While the community guard is by no means a perfect institution it does offer benefits to the locals that were not available under the police or cartels. Local business owners are no longer forced to pay several hundred dollars a month to criminals. The community guard is accountable to the town assembly and chosen by the people. This model is closer to traditional indigenous governance systems than what we are used to seeing in most modern cities. However, it offers a window into a different possibility that waits for those individuals and communities that are willing to take their lives and their governance, back into their own hands. When the people are forced to either accept violence or defend their homes, it seems obvious they will organize and fight. n No Cops! No Government! Big Pharma Takes Aim at CBD

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the drug industry is now trying to turn CBD oil into a drug, and hence illegal for sale as a supplement. 20 Showing promise for a wide range of ailments, the drug industry sees cannabis as major competition, and rightfully so. June 25, 2018, GW Pharmaceuticals became the first company to gain FDA approval for a CBD-based drug. 21,22 The drug in question, Epidiolex, was approved for the treatment of intractable childhood epilepsy in children aged 2 and older. Another product called Sativex is also awaiting FDA approval. Sativex has already been approved in a number of other countries for the treatment of spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients. In a June 25 statement, 23 FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb stated: “This product approval demonstrates that advancing sound scientific research to investigate ingredients derived from marijuana can lead to important therapies … This is an important medical advance. But it’s also important to note that this is not an approval of marijuana or all of its components. This is the approval of one specific CBD medication for a specific use. And it was based on well-controlled clinical trials evaluating the use of this compound in the treatment of a specific condition. Moreover, this is a purified form of CBD. It’s being delivered to patients in a reliable dosage form and through a reproducible route of delivery to ensure that patients derive the anticipated benefits. This is how sound medical science is advanced. So today, in addition to celebrating this scientific achievement and the medical advance that it represents … we should also reflect on the path that made this possible. It’s a path that’s available to other

Page 12

product developers who want to bring forth marijuana-derived products through appropriate drug development programs. That pathway includes a robust clinical development program, along with careful review through the FDA’s drug approval process. This is the most appropriate way to bring these treatments to patients. This process also includes a review of the purity of a new drug and manufacturing controls.”

FDA Cracks Down on CBD Supplements

As expected, with its approval of the first CBD drug, the FDA has increased its scrutiny of companies making CBD extracts. In November 2017, four Colorado businesses received FDA warning letters for making “illegally unsubstantiated health claims” on their CBD products. 24 In a November 1 press release, the FDA said: 25 “[T]he agency today issued warning letters to four companies illegally selling products online that claim to prevent, diagnose, treat or cure cancer without evidence to support these outcomes … The deceptive marketing of unproven treatments may keep some patients from accessing appropriate, recognized therapies to treat serious and even fatal diseases. The FDA has grown increasingly concerned at the proliferation of products claiming to treat or cure serious diseases like cancer. In this case, the illegally sold products allegedly contain cannabidiol (CBD), a component of the marijuana plant that is not FDA approved in any drug product for any indication.” The warning letters 26 also rejected claims that CBD oil can be classified as dietary supplements since Investigational New Drug (IND) applications have been submitted for the CBD-containing drugs Sativex and Epidiolex. This suggests the agency is not just aiming to clean up the cannabis industry’s propensity to make illegal claims; it also raises concerns that the legality of all CBD products is in question now that at least one

CBD-containing drug has been approved.

Many CBD Products Are Mislabeled

The FDA scrutiny is not entirely unwarranted, however. A November 2017 study 27 in JAMA found only 30 percent of CBD extracts sold online accurately list the amounts of cannabinoids on the label. And, while CBD is very safe, accuracy is still of utmost importance. The FDA and DEA will also use information like this to push CBD into pharma-only territory. The JAMA study used triplicate tests to analyze the cannabinoid content of 84 CBD products purchased online, along with a 10-point method validation procedure. A 10 percent plus or minus allowable variance was used, which is consistent with herbal product labeling in general in the U.S. According to the authors: “Observed CBD concentration ranged between 0.10 mg/mL and 655.27 mg/mL (median, 9.45 mg/mL). Median labeled concentration was 15.00 mg/mL … With respect to CBD, 42.85 percent of products were underlabeled, 26.19 percent were overlabeled, and 30.95 percent were accurately labeled. Accuracy of labeling depended on product type, with vaporization liquid most frequently mislabeled … and oil most frequently labeled accurately … Concentration of unlabeled cannabinoids was generally low; however, THC was detected (up to 6.43 mg/mL) in 18 of the 84 samples tested … Of tested products, 26 percent contained less CBD than labeled, which could negate any potential clinical response. The overlabeling of CBD products in this study is similar in magnitude to levels that triggered warning letters to 14 businesses in 20152016 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (e.g., actual CBD content was negligible or less than 1 percent of the labeled content), suggesting that there is a continued need for federal and state regulatory agencies to take steps to ensure label accuracy of these consumer products.”

Ultra-Quick Electric Pulses KILLING Cancer Cells Time for the World to Pay Close Attention

cancer. “If you heat cancer cells up to 43 degrees C [109.4F] they start to die. Our natural body temperature is 37 degrees C [89.6 F]. The technique that we are using, we are able to reach that threshold,” Dr. Janes said.

OR MORE THAN a decade, a team of cancer researchers at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia have been studying a new type of cancer therapy that utilizes nano-second stimulation by ultra-fast electrical pulses to kill tumor cells, and now, after testing it out on mice, it’s working. Generating about 3 million pulses in about the time it takes your heart to beat once, this new form of cancer therapy is killing liver cancer tumors in less than 10 minutes, and they’re not growing back. The pulses are generated by a machine no larger than an old computer monitor, and what’s taking place is no less than prolific. The pulse system is generating electrical stimulation that triggers the human immune system to not only locate the bad cells, but to hone in on them with cancer-killing cells and attack. This is an enormous breakthrough for bioelectrics, for the natural health world, and for natural cures in general. Clinical trials on humans are said to begin as soon as possible. There will be long lines, folks.

ODU receives $42 million in stock in exchange for related bioelectric cancer-curing research ODU is the premier research institution in the world for this type of work right now, and it’s quickly catapulting into a worldwide movement and mission that has Engineers, Biologists and Biochemists all working under the same roof. Researchers from Japan and Germany even began an international consortium on bioelectric studies. Federal approval may not be far away, especially since the new technology may even help treat melanoma, a vigorous form of cancer that has increased by more than 50 percent every year of the last decade. This all began nearly 20 years ago when short bursts of electricity were found to kill bacteria. Then, in 2007, the technology proved useful in eradicating melanoma tumors in mammals and that’s when this project that involves “immunotherapy” garnered national recognition.

Page 13

PEMF technology utilized by NASA quite similar to ODU research and findings

The best part of the therapy is that the ODU team discovered a heightened immune response in treated areas, which is the exact opposite of chemotherapy. In other words, the patient’s own immune cells get a “booster shot” from natural stimulation, instead of being crippled by chemicals involved with relentless chemo treatments. This itself is a complete game changer. Electric pulse therapy may be the “WMD” for cancer, one of the toughest disease and disorder challenges of all time.

Pulse Electricity Already Being Used To Deliver Drugs To Treat Infections, So Now It’s Time To Send Cancer-Killers Directly To The Tumors

Need to deliver some extra oxygen to mitochondria? Need to deliver some extra organic supplements and blood supply to the organs? Need to deliver some proteins to create blood vessels for someone suffering from ischemia (inadequate blood supply to the heart) or to heal wounds? If you’re still confused as to how magnetic pulse therapy works, consider this explanation by a couple of the researchers, “… by enveloping cancer cells with microscopic grains of iron oxide, the magnetic pulses will vibrate faster and faster until the cells overheat and die. No damage ensues to the surrounding healthy cells and no potentially damaging radiation is used.” This can be used to treat many types of cancers, maybe all of them, including lung and pancreatic

Check out pulse electricity in medicine. This research can extend way beyond cancer, into antiaging, pain management, injury recovery, and more. Similar to the pulse electricity being utilized and tested at Old Dominion University, many private wellness centers are starting to use pulsed electro-magnetic field therapy (PEMF) for similar goals. It’s actually nothing new. NASA has used PEMF for years. In fact, they’ve already invested $3.5 million into further research of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy studies. NASA has developed its own PEMF devices that are being used to reverse bone loss experienced by astronauts in outer space, due to their loss of Earth’s magnetic field. Plus, PEMF can be utilized to heal broken bones that were unable to heal despite repeated surgical attempts. NASA has also found PEMF works for repairing traumatized tissues and for developing tissues for transplantation. PEMF doesn’t just benefit astronauts, obviously. Get ready to see this therapy much more commercialized for healing muscle diseases, osteoporosis, depression, inflammation, weight loss, anti-aging, and much more. You may not find PEMF in your local hospital or doctor’s office yet, since the medical industrial complex in the USA is more into treating symptoms of disease and disorder rather than healing folks, but wellness centers like Ancient Wellness Center in Virginia Beach (just 10 miles from ODU) have “club members” raving about the benefits. PEMF is FDA-approved and has also been featured on the Dr. Oz show. So, what are you waiting for? HINK YOUR COOKING oil is safe and healthy? Canola oil producers claim that it’s the healthiest oil you can use, but science begs to differ. Unless significant weight gain and diminished memory are your idea of good health! Canola oil has been heralded as a modern healthy alternative to olive oil, and ‘saturated fats’ like coconut and palm oil, backed by a big promotional push from North American growers. The Canola Council of Canada pulls no punches, calling it “the healthiest of all commonly used cooking oils.”[1] The marketing campaign appears to be working: canola oil consumption in the United States has nearly tripled since 2000, up to almost 3 million metric tons in 2017.[2] When asked if canola oil is the same as rapeseed oil, the answer is both “yes” and “no.” Canola oil comes from the rapeseed plant, and was called rapeseed oil until the early 1970s, when a promotional campaign to rebrand the oil was devised in conjunction with genetic-modification to remove two of the plant’s undesirable elements, erucic acid and glucosinolates. The Rapeseed Association of Canada took the opportunity to rename the plant, and “Can” for Canada, plus “ola” for oil, was born.[3] Producers are still keen to leave the rapeseed designation behind, hence their claim that this GM-version is a distinct type of plant. Essentially, it is a very comprehensive marketing campaign designed to confuse and lead the public to a foregone conclusion. With more than 90% of U.S. crops and upwards of 80% of Canadian canola derived from genetically-engineered seeds, it’s almost certain that your bottle of canola oil comes from plants contaminated with chemical herbicides. Because processing removes the genetically-modified protein from the finished oils, producers consider it the same as

conventional oil,[4] believing this production process removes all potential for harm. It is therefore marketed as being 100% safe for unlimited human consumption. But as the latest medical science points out, this oil is far from being a healthy choice for human brains and bodies. Canola oil is often promoted as a lowcost alternative to olive oil, possessing the same health benefits. It’s even promoted as having a mere 7% saturated fat, compared to olive oil’s 15%. But what does science say about the healthfulness of canola? Until recent

common brain characteristics for Alzheimer’s patients.[6] Mice in the control group received a typical diet, while mice in the experimental group were fed a diet supplemented with canola oil for a period of 6 months. At the beginning of the study, mice had the same body weight. They were put through three different tests involving memory functions and conditioning, such as mazes. Ability to navigate these environments demonstrated measurable brain function and emotional stimulation. Their findings debunked the claims

Canola Oil Increases Memory Loss years, no data were available on the effect of canola oil intake in relation to increasingly common diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease. Canola oil had never been examined as a causal factor in the sixteen-fold increase in deaths from Alzheimer’s reported in 1991: a total of 14,112, up from just 857 deaths reported in 1979.[5] In December 2017, researchers from Alzheimer’s Center at Temple University investigated the effect of daily consumption of canola oil on mice whose brains had developed both plaques and tangles,

of Canola oil marketers, demonstrating negative impacts to bodies and brains. Mice who were chronically exposed to canola oil experienced a significant increase in body weight; a gain of nearly one-fifth of total weight recorded just six months earlier. Effects on the brain were equally undesirable. Mice showed impairments in their working memory, demonstrated by decreased problem-solving abilities. Together with reduced levels of beneficial brain proteins that mark synaptic integrity, or how well neurons are firing, the mice performed

significantly worse on all tests as compared to control mice. Synaptic integrity can affect whether or not critical connections are made in the brain, something that is vital to a functional memory and enjoying a high quality of life. Canola oil impairs synaptic integrity, which greatly exacerbates the debilitating symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers concluded that their findings do not support the beneficial effect of regular canola oil consumption, nor does their data justify the current trend aimed at replacing olive oil with canola oil in your diet. Not when research has consistently shown that olive oil reduces the same brain plaques and unhealthy proteins that canola oil increases. [7] The same way that Big Pharma selectively publishes only favorable scientific research on drugs,[8] canola oil producers have cherrypicked data that is both contradictory and inconclusive when viewed in its entirety.[9] Meanwhile, consumption of extra virgin olive oil continues to deliver on its promise of being a true superfood. A similar study was conducted by the same Temple University research group in June 2017,[10] but this time the focus was on olive oil and its effects on Alzheimer’s brain plaques and tangles. Mice were fed a diet of normal food, or food supplemented with extra virgin olive oil for six months. Compared with controls, the group fed olive oil demonstrated improvements in their prior behavioral deficits. Synaptic integrity also improved, thanks to a significant increase in steady-state levels of synaptophysin, a protein marker of synaptic integrity. In addition, brain plaque deposition decreased, thanks to reductions in insoluble peptides and specific proteins associated with the disease. Overall, their findings supported the beneficial effect of olive oil consumption on all major features of Alzheimer’s disease.

Why Goji Berries Might Be The Holy Grail Of Health By Derek Henry

www.naturalnews.com

I

T’S NOT TOO often that you see a food with the nutritional profile of goji berries. Also called wolfberries, goji are the fruits of Lycium barbarum and Lycium chinense plants and have been cultivated for over 2000 years in Asia. They are so precious to this culture that they have been nicknamed “red diamonds” for their unusually high nutrition value. Let’s look into these special gems a bit further, to give you an appreciation of what they can deliver for your health, and of course, your taste buds.

The nutritional punch of goji berries

When you get a glimpse of wellsourced dried goji berries you can instantly tell how nutritionally dense they are just by looking at them, and when you look at their nutritional profile, it’s easy to understand why they are so revered in many Eastern cultures. To give you an idea, a good handful of goji berries can deliver: n 18 amino acids, including all 8 essential amino acids, which makes it a complete protein n Six essential fatty acids (EFAs) n 22 trace minerals and 11 essential vitamins (including A,C, B-complex, and E) n 140 percent DV of vitamin A, 100 percent DV of iron, copper, and riboflavin, 91 percent DV of selenium,

Page 15

24 percent DV of potassium, and 18 percent DV of zinc. n Superior source of antioxidants, and often-rated #1 in ORAC food scores (25,000) n More vitamin C per ounce than oranges n Great source of fiber When this nutritional powerhouse hits your body on a consistent basis, it can translate into some very nice health benefits. Let’s take a look at some of those now.

The health benefits of goji berries

With so much nutrition packed into this tiny little berry (like 500 times more vitamin C than an orange by weight), it’s not too big of a surprise that the body often reciprocates the nourishment. When you start to use goji berries on a consistent basis, you could start to see the following benefits: n Promotes a healthy immune system n Supports healthy liver function n Nourishes eye, skin, and hair health n Supports a healthy heart n Supports healthy kidney function n Uplifts mood Being such a high antioxidant food, it is also an excellent free radical scavenger, which can support a healthy aging process as well. So how do you work these health promoting berries into your diet?

Using goji berries in your diet

Since goji berries are an incredibly versatile food, there are numerous ways to work them into your diet on a daily basis. You don’t even have to get creative, as a handful of goji berries (with their mild tangy taste that is slightly sweet) are fine just on their own. However, if you want to get creative, simply throw some goji berries in your smoothie, trail mix, cereal, oatmeal, jam, salads, tea, or bake with them. They go great in this Coconut Brownie Recipe, which ups the antioxidant ante with the raw cacao (21,000 ORAC score) also in the recipe. (http://healingthebody.ca/coconutbrownie-recipe/) Of course, not all goji berry sources are clean and nourishing since they are primarily sourced from China. One needs to be extremely careful of various contaminants (including heavy metals) which may be lurking in that bag of nutritional goodness. Thankfully, you can avoid that risk by getting Health Ranger Select Organic Goji Berries, which ensures you get a clean harvest due to the meticulous testing and strict requirements that need to be met before they are provided to the public. Make no bones about it: a clean source of these “red diamonds” is going to add a tasty and nutritional punch to your diet. If there ever was a superfood Holy Grail providing happiness and a feeling of youth, goji would be a strong contender for that distinction. Sources include:Naturalnews. com; Healingthebody.ca

How to Unleash The Great Perfection of Creativity Informed by the profound teachings of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal tells us how to unleash powerful creative energy we can use anywhere, from the office to the art studio.

HERE IS LITTLE in life that does not require at least some measure of creativity. Whether you are trying to compose a symphony, write an essay, find a job, cook a meal, or express an opinion, you cannot achieve your goal if you are not creative. But the fruits of your efforts will depend, in good part, on how you define creativity. According to the Dzogchen (Great Perfection) teachings of Vajrayana Buddhism, true creativity has to do with more than just ability or skill, or even actions or behaviors. While those play an important role, creativity ultimately has to do with our state of being.

more genuine and moving. You will be able to solve problems at work, resolve conflicts with loved ones, or even shift your thought patterns with more natural spontaneity.

The Wrong Way To Create Let’s say your creative goal for today is something very utilitarian—to convince your

and enthusiasm. These are qualities any boss would treasure in an employee. Most people, however, seek solutions from a place where the creative flow is blocked and, as a result, their words and actions are contrived and effortful. For example, imagine that on the morning of the day you are meeting with your boss, you wake up in a bad mood. For whatever

“When you know how to tap fully into this open, creative flow, its beneficial qualities can extend to any area of your life.” Creativity can be seen as a state of natural flow, one that spontaneously and effortlessly gives birth not only to manifest form, but to all experiences of body, energy, and mind. This state of flow, which has its roots in openness, occurs only in the absence of hope and fear. It is at once naturally joyful, peaceful, compassionate, expansive, and powerful. When you know how to tap fully into this open, creative flow, its beneficial qualities can extend to any area of your life. You can paint more masterful paintings. Your music can have more depth of connection. Your writing can be

Brushes, photo by Jennifer Pack boss that you deserve a promotion. You know this new job opening is meant for you; you have been thinking about it for weeks. But you know skill will be needed to sell the idea to your boss. If you enter the meeting with him or her feeling positive and spacious, you are far more likely to present a skillful argument from a place of genuine self-confidence, connection,

reason, you are feeling a little depressed, pessimistic, edgy. The problem is self-image; you identify with the negative energy. You think, “I am feeling bad,” or “something is wrong with me this morning.” It’s a familiar feeling of unworthiness we often wake up to. Let’s say you don’t do anything to clear the negative energy. You sit on your bad mood as usual. As the appointed meeting with your boss approaches, it is from this place of negative self-image that you begin to feel nervous. You sit with agitation and your mind becomes increasingly active. You wonder: “Has my co-worker already been chosen for the new position?” “Has anyone even noticed all my contributions at work?” “That mistake I made last month—will my boss hold it against me?” If these thoughts continue, then by the time you sit down across the table from your boss, you will actively be trying to hide your fear and agitation. You are dressed professionally, speaking well, expressing all your well-rehearsed arguments for why you deserve the promotion, but the right causes and conditions are not realized internally. No matter how well you smile or speak, your words come out as planned and effortful. Instead of seeing genuine confidence and enthusiasm, your boss will instead sense conflict and doubt behind a confident facade. At best your boss will assume this is due to nerves. At worst, he or she will conclude that you doubt your own ability to take on new responsibilities. Maybe that promotion is not right for you.

Adjusting Your Focus

Particularly in stressful situations, like meeting with the boss, people tend to focus too much effort on creating results and too little on taking steps that will allow the intended results to spontaneously arise. If you play piano fretting about what the audience thinks of the music, your notes may come out as stilted. If you paint a watercolor worried about messing up a brushstroke, the finished artwork may lack soul. If you give a gift worrying about how its value will be perceived, the recipient may dismiss it as not coming from the heart. To keep from getting caught up in these hopes and fears, you must first stop focusing so much on the goal. “It’s good if you can have fun doing Page 16

what you’re doing, with no expectations of becoming wealthy, yet still make money. That is what is called a creative profession.” In football, place-kickers are trained to focus not on the goal but on making solid contact with the ball. They remain conscious of the goal posts, but just before they kick they keep their head down and their eyes on the ball. Target shooters are given similar advice. They focus not on the target but on lining up the sights; the target itself remains a blur beyond the sights. Likewise, even as you are conscious of your creative goal, it makes sense to place your attention on lining up the sights—taking the steps that can cause your desired results to spontaneously manifest. Think of how you feel as you are helping loved ones move forward in their lives. People who get excited about helping others don’t base their actions on hope or fear and are not concerned about feeling unworthy. They just feel joy and openness in doing a simple task without expectations. If you can have a similar experience of openness in your professional life, you are more likely to land a job promotion. It’s good if you can have fun doing what you’re doing, with no expectations of becoming wealthy, yet still make money. That is what is called a creative profession.

Three Steps to Creativity

Whether you are looking to transform a life of sadness and depression into one of happiness and joy, or you are wishing to take your artistry to a higher level, instead of keeping your attention on the goal, focus on taking these three steps:

1. Clear Your Inner Obstacles The first step toward unleashing the open flow of creativity is to attain a state of openness. That requires clearing away your

negative selfimage. People who are stuck always seem to have excuses for not moving forward. not having enough money or lacking support from loved ones, friends, or colleagues are very common examples. You may think, “I’m not good enough,” or “no one else has done it before,” or “This is not the right time and place.” But whether you have ten reasons or one hundred, external factors are not the real obstacle. The real block is within. It’s not that someone else is in your way—you yourself are the block. You are attached to the aspect of yourself that is blocking the way. There are many methods for clearing awareness and improving self-image. Talk therapy is one. Practicing yoga is another. On a deeper level, meditation techniques such as the Bön Buddhist practices of tsa lung or the nine breathings of purification can help you clear the physical, energetic, and mental obstacles associated with negative self-image. Here is a simple clearing practice you can try right now in order to begin the process of unleashing your creative energy: n Notice your internal dialog. Are you always telling yourself things like: “This can’t

“When you know how to tap fully into this open, creative flow, its beneficial qualities can extend to any area of your life.” work,” “no one will like it,” “I’m not good enough,” “I don’t have the energy,” or “It’s not worth the trouble.” Identify your primary obstacle. Simply being aware that it is within you can help begin the process of unblocking. n Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and take a moment to feel the stillness of your body. Listen and hear the silence within and around you, and abide in the spaciousness of your mind. Rest in this place of openness for a few minutes or longer. n Now, from that place of stillness, silence, and spaciousness, bring your main obstacle back into awareness. Observe it nakedly, without concepts, judging, or evaluating. This is what I call “selecting” the issue. n Take in a deep breath of pure awareness, bringing it directly into the image or energetic feeling of the inner obstacle you have selected. As you exhale, breathe out the blockage and experience it dissolving into space. Be aware of that space and effortlessly rest there for a few minutes. Repeat this breathing cycle over and over until you start to feel clearer inside. The more you become aware of what is blocking your creative flow and practice clearing it, the more you discover and cultivate a more positive sense of self that is based on the absence of obstacle. This much larger sense of self has nothing to do with identity and everything to do with openness. You are the infinite space that has opened up. You may fear that without your old, familiar sense of pain identity, you are nothing. But as you clear your sense of negative selfimage, you can begin to discover that in its absence, you are everything. A sense of self that is founded in openness is unchanging, indestructible, and confident. Whatever practice you use, the point is to discover a place of spaciousness within. Give time not only to clearing obstacles but

also to becoming familiar with what opens up as a result. Every moment you spend in a state of openness is cumulative and supports your ability to be in the flow. Let go, rest in the openness, and become familiar with it. Cultivate confidence in the realization that

openness, confidence, and unlimited potential, then qualities of joy—what I call warmth—can naturally arise. It is only from this warmth that creativity, finally, will freely manifest. The third condition for connecting with your creative nature, therefore, is to notice and nurture a feeling of warmth. Just as the sky is the primary source of the sun and the oxygenrich wind, which in turn give birth to all the flowers and trees, openness is the primary source of confidence and warmth, which in turn give birth to creative and enlightened manifestation. Warmth is the place from which love, kindness, compassion, expansiveness, and creativity arise. It’s like sitting in a patch of sunlight in cold weather. As the light warms you, you begin to smile. The warmth you experience Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is a sense of feeling complete or, more specifically, no longer feeling incomplete. You are conscious that any your true inner being cannot be changed by feelings of inadequacy have dissolved and that any force. you are more connected to your true self, so naturally you feel complete. 2. Open To Your Potential Once anger is cleared, its antidote— If you can successfully clear the clouds of love—can more spontaneously arise. Once negative self-image and become more familiar sadness and feelings of inadequacy are cleared, with the vast sky, then by resting deeply joy and completeness are revealed. I’m not enough in that space, you will begin to feel an just saying this; for centuries, yogis and other even greater opening and sense of peace. The practitioners have witnessed these results from sparkling qualities manifesting in that space meditation practice, and my own students have are the light of awareness and potentiality. seen such effects within a few days of practice. Once you do so, you can come to When you create more space and realize that not only are you more than you had awareness, positive qualities naturally arise. always thought you were, but your entire world The more familiar you become with a sense of is also full of positive alternatives. 3. Nurture A Sense Of Warmth Once you have realized a sense of

Page 17

The Life of An Artist

People often make the mistake of trying to act creatively before cultivating a sense of

warmth. As a result, like the nervous person trying to fake confidence with her boss, they have only limited success. It is only once the clouds have dissolved, revealing the clear, vast sky, that the warmth of the sun’s rays can nourish your creativity. At any given time, consider what stage you are in, and do what you can to move the process along. Try to focus more on what works, rather than what is not working for you. Don’t force creativity before its time. Once all the right conditions are in place, unrestricted creative flow often comes spontaneously. If not, there is no problem with inviting it, reminding it, bringing in a little energy as a booster. If you set up the right conditions, focusing in all the right places, the intended result will come. “Spontaneous action is joyful action, and that is true creativity.” Whenever I create a piece of calligraphy, for example, I avoid engaging with the intended outcome—hoping the finished image will be beautiful or fearing I will miss a brushstroke. I connect, instead, with stillness, silence, and spaciousness. Then, from within this open awareness, I feel a sense of warmth. I see the paper and hold the ink-filled brush in my hand. Only then, from that place of warmth, do I allow the brush to meet the paper. The stroke of the brush is the manifest act of creativity. With each stroke, the openness, awareness, and warmth are already in place and fully ripened. Spontaneous action is joyful action, and that is true creativity. Whether it is a great artist immersed in the act of painting, a mother embracing her child, or a bodhisattva expressing compassion to sentient beings, full immersion in the creative flow brings a sense of freedom, playfulness, and joy. If you create from this place, hours can pass without your noticing. You go beyond time and space. You have many enlightened qualities during that timeless moment, and those qualities are far more valuable than any product you create. People who are exposed to your product may feel something of what you felt in the act of creation, just as one can feel the depth of Rembrandt’s experience captured in a self-portrait fully 350 years after he applied the paint strokes. But for the creator, the creation itself is not as important as being in the moment of creating. That is the life of an artist. Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is a lineage holder of the Bön Dzogchen tradition of Tibet. His is the author of Spontaneous Creativity: Meditations for Manifesting Your Positive Qualities (2018).

Briefing Binder for the lobby representing the Dairy Farmers of Canada was found abandoned on the floor after the Conservative Party’s national convention in Halifax, and was made public over the weekend in a series of social media posts by delegate Matthew Bexte, a recent University of Calgary economics graduate who lives on his family’s farm near Vulcan, Alta. At issue here is Canada’s legislative support for ‘supply management,’ a system that allows specific commodity sectors — dairy, poultry and eggs — to limit the supply of their products. s. https://bit.ly/2MEfXNq Page 19

id you know that there was a shocking study published in the Public Library of Science Journal, that found“up to 72%” of scientists admitted their colleagues were engaged in “questionable research practices,” and that just over 14% of them were engaged in outright “falsification”?[1] Between 1977 and 1990 the FDA found scientific flaws in 10–20% of all the studies they audited.[2] But it gets even worse; scientists at the Thousand Oaks biotech firm Amgen, set out to double-check the results of 53 peer reviewed landmark published studies in their fields of cancer research and blood biology. What they found was shocking; only 6 of the 53 studies could be proven valid. That means almost 90% were flawed, yet passed off to the public as fact. [3] https://bit.ly/2N7yOMo

No Friendship Or Relationship Is Destined To Last Forever. At some point, we outgrow the people in our lives, develop different interests, and even in the best circumstances, lose people due to the natural cycle of life and death. But when is the right time to move on from a relationship that feels doomed? Should we wait it out … should we try to pick up the broken pieces, and if so, for how long? At what point is it acceptable to walk away and never look back? Burning bridges is a tough and serious decision to make. When we “burn bridges” we are essentially cutting off all contact with a person and making it impossible to return. If you’re struggling with this decision, there are a few things you might like to know first.

When Burning Bridges Is The Wrong Choice Cutting people off is not always the right decision. As much as we would like to quickly dispose of a person who is causing us trouble, sometimes the problem originates more within us than with them. For instance, burning bridges might be the wrong choice if you’re wanting to dispose of a person due to fear of intimacy and the unwillingness to be vulnerable. Both of these problems will not be solved by cutting a person off, and in fact, making such a decision will exacerbate and deepen your insecurities. If you’re uncomfortable with sharing your entire self with another person in a friendship or relationship, the problem obviously isn’t the other person, but your own internal fears and traumas. In order to work through this problem, be honest with yourself and the person in your life. Explain how you feel. If they truly love you, they will understand and will stop trying to make you open up. Another example of a wrong time to move on would be in the heat of anger (or another strong emotional reaction). When we are consumed by emotions our logic is overridden and we cannot think or see clearly. So many poor and even fatal decisions are made when our amygdala has gone haywire (bring to mind all the crimes of passion you hear on the news). In order to prevent yourself from making a rash decision, force yourself to breathe in and out for a couple of minutes. Removing yourself from the person or situation also helps your mind and body to settle down. The final example of a wrong time to move on is when a relationship changes and stops being fun and exciting all the time. So many people tend to mistakenly believe that there’s something “wrong” with their relationship as it matures and grows because it’s no longer filled with the same ecstasy experienced at the beginning. But the reality is that every relationship changes: you will not experience the same dizzy euphoria as you did when you first fell in love. But there will be new emotions to experience as you grow and change with your partner. It is normal to feel a bit of boredom every now and then, but this does not necessarily mean that you need to burn bridges and move on. Obviously, if you’re feeling constantly bored and unfulfilled then you should seriously reconsider your relationship. But don’t make the mistake of hopping from partner to partner in an attempt to find that one person who makes you feel euphoric 100% of the time. It just won’t happen. If you need more guidance on how to improve your relationship, read my article How to Save a Relationship or Marriage (https://lonerwolf.com/how-to-savea-relationship-marriage). You might

9. They Have Physically Hurt You In moments of rage, your friend/ partner/family member may have hit you or physically hurt you in some way. While they may have apologized, your trust and confidence around them have been broken. Physical abuse is a crystal clear sign that it’s time to move on and burn bridges, forever.

12 SIGNS IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON So when is it the right time to move on? At some point in our lives, we all need to make the heart-wrenching choice to sever contact with certain people. For some of us, that might mean burning bridges with our expartners or friends, and for others, this might mean cutting off contact with our parents, siblings or even our own children. It is unrealistic – and even dangerous – to believe that all relationships can be repaired, no matter what has happened. We cannot change other people, no matter how hard we try. Yes, we might be able to influence them, but the choice to change comes from them, not us. We cannot force others to change. Therefore, sometimes we need to accept that it’s time to move on, let go, and open a new chapter of our lives because no matter what we do, a person will only change if they are interested in changing. Letting go can even seem cruel to some people, especially if a strong emotional bond is present. But the reality is that we have to take care of ourselves as well. If a person is not a source of comfort or support in your life, then they hang around you like dead weight holding you back from self-fulfillment. It is not selfish to burn bridges when the person on the other end is feeding off your soul. In fact, deliberately moving toxic people from your life is a sign of self-love and respect for your personal needs. Here are some major signs that it’s time to move on:

1. They Don’t Show Interest In Your Thoughts, Opinions Or Needs Your relationship is very lopsided. Even when you try to express your thoughts and needs, you are met with a blank, uninterested wall. Life seems to revolve around the other person, and whenever you try to draw a conversation towards yourself, this person will immediately try to hog attention. In the past, you may have drawn attention to the fact that this person doesn’t show interest in your needs, but nothing changed and they made no effort to pay attention to you. This person has an “ME first, you second” attitude.

3. They Don’t Encourage Your Freedom A major red flag: if the other person is controlling and authoritative, back away slowly! If you feel trapped and unable to be your true self, it’s most definitely time to move on. Feeling trapped can also be subtle and passive, for example, a partner or parent who tries to keep you dependent on them so that they have power over you.

4. They Twist The Truth You struggle to trust this person because they have lied to you so much in the past. Lying is not always active, it can also be passive, for example, withholding information or details that you needed to know. This person has repeatedly broken your trust and is not transparent with you.

5. They Don’t Prioritize Your Relationship The other person doesn’t seem to value your relationship/friendship as much as you do. While you put in so much work to improve your relationship with them, the other person doesn’t seem to care at all. Even when you have asked them to uphold their side of the relationship, they still ended up prioritizing other things over you. For example, they might spend long nights out with their friends at the pub and return at 3am. Or they might forget dates, meetups or agreements and put work or other commitments above you. While busyness is a normal part of life, this person doesn’t seem to have time on their schedule for you at all.

6. They Create Constant Drama You feel exhausted having to deal with all of the problems and dramas surrounding this person. Even when something goes well for your friend/partner/family member, they quickly find something else to be unhappy about. You have a sense that this person thrives on drama and is empty without it. You’re tired of hearing detailed accounts of their fights, work dramas, relationship tragedies, righteous opinions, ad infinitum.

7. They Feed Off Your Energy This person seems to be fuelled by your attention and emotional reactions. They might enjoy provoking you to elicit a response that makes them feel like they have power over you. You also feel very tired around them, and almost sucked into their gravitational pull. If you feel this way, you’ve likely got an energy vampire on your hands. While I don’t particularly like this term, it accurately describes people who enjoy leeching off our energy.

2. They Emanate Constant Negativity

8. They’re Relentlessly Needy

No matter what you do or say, the other person is always unhappy. This person might nitpick, whine, criticize, judge, and moan about you or other people all the time. Not only that, but you always seem to go away feeling miserable after spending time with this person. They are like a damp heavy blanket suffocating your soul.

You feel smothered by this other person and like you’re bound to them with a ball and chain. Not only do you have to take care of your needs, but you feel as though you have to take care of their needs as well. This person seems to constantly demand attention, pampering, affection, and favors from you. You’ve tried encouraging this person to

You’ve tried being relaxed and open around this person, but you’ve been met with coldness, criticism or judgment. As a result, you may have resorted to hiding your true self and wearing a mask instead. Gradually, you may have even started to forget who you truly are, having become a shell of your former self instead. You feel sick of changing who you are for the other person.

11. They Manipulate You You chronically feel emotionally blackmailed or gaslighted by this person. Sometimes you even feel like you’re the abuser, when in fact, the other is just playing mind games with you.

12. They Intentionally Hold You Back On the surface it may appear that your friend, partner or family member has “the best intentions for you,” but really, they don’t. They are scared. They don’t want you to change. They don’t want you to reach your full potential, for that will make them feel left behind. They don’t want to see you happy, for that will reflect how unhappy they are. They don’t want you to take risks, for that will force them to reconsider their own life choices. As the old truism goes, “misery loves company.” Unhappy people want to be surrounded by other unhappy people because it gives them some sense of consolation. As a result, you might feel like you have to dim down your lights, blend in, and become a wallflower. nnn After reading this list, please know that you don’t have to say “yes” to every sign. Even if you’re experiencing just one or two of these signs, you should seriously consider the possibility that it’s time to move on. While you don’t have to necessarily burn bridges, you might like to create space and distance and see how you feel. Hopefully these signs can gently awaken you to the possibility that it’s time to open a new chapter of your life. And please know that feeling things like stress, shame, and grief are all normal reactions. Personally, when it was time for me to burn bridges I felt intense emotional and psychological turmoil for many months. In my case, I had to cut ties with my entire family in order to escape their oppressive fundamentalist religion. But to my surprise, I felt so free and liberated that all of the pain of going through separation was worth it. I hope you can find the same kind of freedom. HEN IT COMES to archetypal spirit guides, often the focus is upon ferocious guardians and large, intimidating beasts. However, one of the most important, yet overlooked animals in world mythology is a much smaller creature—the squirrel. It is only when we begin to examine folk tales and ancient story traditions of various cultures that we can begin to appreciate the thoughtful placement of the squirrel within mythic narratives. It is almost as if the mythologies of the world comprise of a vast tree of tales and the squirrel is the messenger, scurrying from branch to branch, lending its unique perspective and attributes to folk tales and parables of wisdom.

Ratatoskr, the Norse Hermes

Squirrel! place to another, with the world tree, Ygdrassil, acting as an allegory for both the mind and the entire universe. Again, this reminds us of the shamanic maxim, “As above, so below.”

Totems and Spirit Guides

The shamanic practice of totemism is sacred to Indigenous tribes around the world. The San people of Africa base many of their rituals and traditions on animals like the eland and the mantis. Native Americans carve and erect images of spirit animals on the surface of long wooden poles called totems, representing universal archetypes.

In some traditions, the squirrel has been linked to Hermes and Mercury because of its fleet-footed nature and ability to traverse difficult terrain, and to climb trees. Perhaps the most famous squirrel in this context is Ratatoskr, sometimes translated as Drill-Tooth, from Norse mythology.

‘Totem Pole’ featuring various animal totems, Vancouver, British Columbia. One Native American example of squirrel totemism comes from The Choctaw, who believed that a solar eclipse was attributed to a black squirrel trying to eat the sun. As the first stages of the eclipse began, tribe members would try to make as much noise as they could in order to scare the black squirrel away. As the voices of the people reached a crescendo, their efforts seemed to have the desired effect. The moon began to move away from the sun, and the full strength of the sun’s light reappeared. The people, thankful and elated, would begin the cry of “Funi lusa osh mahlatah!” or “The black squirrel is frightened!”

A 17th-century Icelandic manuscript depicting Ratatoskr. Although unexplained in the manuscript and not otherwise attested, in this image Ratatoskr bears a horn or tusk. Ratatoskr carries messages from the bottom of the world tree, Ygdrassil, to its summit, where he acts as a liaison between the serpent-dragon, Niohoggr, and the eagle, Veorfolnir. There is very obvious shamanic symbolism in this act as Ratatoskr is moving from the underworld, through the middle world, and high into the heavens, while carrying out his tasks.

Page 22

P. Hall, the practice of totemism can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. The Neo-Platonists inherited the concept of spirit guides or a group spirit, such as the Daemons of Socrates, from the priests of Egypt and their scriptures. Hall believed these practices then spread to the Northern Asiatic peoples. According to Paracelsus, the 16th century Swiss-German born toxicologist and occultist, all life—great and small, even down to insects, plant life, and the mineral kingdoms—serves a great purpose. The squirrel is no exception to these rules. In this modern age of urbanization, squirrels, like humans, are forced to adapt to new surroundings on a constant basis. This trait of preparation and foresight was encoded within the West African folk tale of The Squirrel and the Spider. In this story, a squirrel builds a home and farm without a path leading up to it, because he can travel through the trees without touching the ground. A sly spider tries to claim the farm by making a pathway himself and insists that this now gives him the right to the property. However, following a mighty storm, the spider is tricked of the farm’s bounty by an impassible crow on the roadway. Squirrel, who does not need to follow the main paths and by-ways of other creatures, then manages to reclaim his farm.

On first impression, the choice of a squirrel for the animal that might even reach the sun may appear to be a strange one. However, we must remember how the manifestation of totemism presents itself in terms of characteristics and attributes. The squirrel was the creature that could climb to the highest branches of trees, so therefore it was also the creature most able to ascend to the heavens and reach the sun. Even in mythologies located as far apart as North America and Europe, the squirrel was still regarded with awe in terms of its ability reach places that other creatures and humans could not. Masks and dance ceremonies are still used today by tribes to invoke the spirit of animal teachers. These traditions are part of what is known as animism, or the anthropomorphic view that all life has a spiritual essence. Some metaphysical concepts of animal souls teach that they have an emotional and mental capacity in their lower bodies but lack an individual mind and soul like humans possess. In this context, animals operate as a collective entity, or by instinct, and cultures have learned from them by observing their personality traits and how they adapt to sometimes dangerous environments. According to the esoteric historian Manly

Eastern grey squirrel was destroying the red squirrel population.

A red squirrel in the forest (Sciurus vulgaris). However, scientific research has dispelled this myth, showing that the main reason for the red squirrel decline is traffic, human activity, and a diminishing bio-diversity caused by geoengineering. There was also a huge destruction of red squirrel habitats after World War II for agricultural reasons. Recent research has since demonstrated the neutral and very often positive environmental effect of grey squirrels.

Squirrels and Biodiversity

As forest regenerators who help with biodiversity, it is not uncommon to see an anxious squirrel looking around in every direction for enemies, before burying its nuts and seeds in a hiding spot for later. Subsequently, Grey Squirrels often forget where they have hidden their stash, causing great trees and forests to grow in place of their food. Scientific studies conducted by researchers from universities Wilkes, Princeton (Steele et al. 1996) and Purdue (Goheen & Swihart 2003) have shown that the unrivaled leaders in seed dispersion – and in forest regeneration—are Grey Squirrels.

Forgotten food stashes can often sprout into trees and forests. We can apply the lessons we learn from squirrels by looking at how we adapt to our environments in a sometimes stressful and chaotic world. Squirrels are highly intelligent problem-solvers and studies have shown they can even remember the solutions to puzzles for up to two years. Perhaps this is another indicator as to why indigenous cultures chose the squirrel as a messenger archetype. Their ability to store knowledge, which could grow into a great forest of wisdom, was certainly an attribute that Ratatoskr the Norse squirrel took full advantage of!

Squirrels Today & the RedVersus-Grey Controversy

One of the greatest tragedies that our ecology faces today is the decline of the red squirrel population in the UK. This has resulted in a controversial cull on grey squirrels. It was mistakenly believed that the

The eastern gray squirrel According to Peter Matthews of I-CSRS, or the Interactive Centre for Scientific Research about Squirrels: “We’ve recently sent Wildlife Trusts a publication for ‘Non-lethal methods in the conservation of red squirrels (UK)’ and over 124 thousand signatures under the petition against their ‘methods’. They said they ‘were interested and ready for further discussion’ but I think there’s a need for much bigger public pressure in this matter ”. The red squirrel is not as versatile in terms of diet as the grey squirrel and they have not adapted well to vegetation changes, which have resulted in support for the cull. Supporters justify it by claiming the Eastern grey squirrel is an invasive species, but it should be noted that grey squirrels were originally imported for ornamental purposes, but have now acclimated. According to Matthews, red squirrels can be helped by planting conifer forests, establishing them on islands and supplementary feeding. We find a similar argument used in British Columbia, Canada, where the native red squirrel decline is blamed on the grey squirrel. Emily Gonzales, a professor at the University of Victoria and restoration specialist at Parks Canada, has refuted these points and shown that both the red and grey squirrel populations of British Columbia are important for the environment, and should be respected equally as they can co-habitat peacefully together. Another damaging myth for the grey squirrel was that they caused bird population decline, but it has since been shown that predation by red squirrels is higher than greys, who utilize a greater variety of seeds than reds. This negative myth was dispelled in 2009 by BTO research and a study of urban birds (Bonnington 2014.)

LIP THIS QUOTE from Dr. Jung around and it suggests that once you become aware of the unconscious forces directing you, you will experience freedom and gain newfound control over your own life. This realization gives us extraordinary power. Based on what we know about the brain, mind, and consciousness, most of our decisions are made without conscious thought, that is, we are driven by low-level mental activity which happens automatically. This level of thinking is the product of the subconscious mind. “Contrary to what most of us would like to believe, decision-making may be a process handled to a large extent by unconscious mental activity. A team of scientists has unraveled how the brain actually unconsciously prepares our decisions. “Many processes in the brain occur automatically and without involvement of our consciousness. This prevents our mind from being overloaded by simple routine tasks. But when it comes to decisions we tend to assume they are made by our conscious mind. This is questioned by our current findings.” [https://www.sciencedaily.com/ releases/2008/04/080414145705.htm] In other words, most of the time we are basically on autopilot. The fact that subliminal advertising can alter the buying habits of consumers is wellestablished and this is a widely used practice in the advertising industry. It is, perhaps, the most overt form of directly tampering with the subconscious minds of individuals. But there a great deal of other things all around us which interfere with our subconscious programming on a daily basis.

1.) BEAUTY PROGRAMMING

– In 2017, Forbes magazine estimated that the beauty industry is worth nearly half a trillion dollars a year in the U.S. The industry is so lucrative because of how body image is used to manipulate people and their sexual identities, especially women. An ideal, largely unattainable representation of beauty is projected throughout our culture, causing a major disruption to self-identity. Oversexualization of even the youngest members of society is everywhere.

2.) VIOLENCE PROGRAMMING

– This one is everywhere, from the nightly

Page 23

4.) THE HYPOCRISY OF CHURCH AND STATE – Stoking extreme cognitive dissonance, the most influential institutions in our world, church and state, are perpetually engaged in behavior that defies their stated objectives, creating an environment where otherwise would-be virtuous people develop a warped sense of reality. The Catholic Church is mired in evil child-abuse scandals all the time, but they still put on the air of righteousness. The government is pretty much always engaging in scandal, murder, corruption and every other evil things, while, again, presenting itself as an organization that brings justice and equity to our world.

5.) VICTIM CONSCIOUSNESS

The 5 Main Cultural Influences Controlling Your

Subconscious Mind news to the vast majority of television shows and movies, and even throughout the music industry. Violence is presented as the solution to any problem, darkly coloring the subconscious mind with images of death, torture, fighting, destruction, war and violence against nature. “Have you ever noticed how television and print media will scream themselves hoarse in news documentaries, editorials and heavy analytical pieces about ‘rising pornography, crime, violence, gunplay’, etc? And yet in the same TV Guide announcing the latest special on ‘The Crisis of Sex and Violence’ will appear an advertisement for Miami Vice, the ‘show that brings you the action and excitement you’ve come to expect’, etc. Or your newspaper will condemn sex and violence in the loftiest terms but there in the entertainment section is a half-page advertisement for a new ‘action’ movie accompanied by a photo of women in string bikinis and high heels fondling automatic pistols and machineguns.” ~ Michael A. Hoffman, Secret Societies and Psychological Warfare

3.) OCCULT SYMBOLISM – Classic occult symbolism is ubiquitous in our culture now. Appearing throughout entertainment media, the spiritual symbols of the occult present a constant reminder that dark forces are at play in our world. They trigger the deeply subconscious fear of death, which is thought to be the main driver of all human behavior, as well as submissiveness to base level forces, such as fear, greed, and lust. “The themes are applied in so many productions that it utterly defies coincidence, which means there must be some greater unifying message or purpose to it all. Based on the type of symbols and when looked at in the historical context of esoteric religious movement, Egyptian theology, Babylonian mythology, Satan worship and so on, Hollywood and the movie industry is clearly working to serve a particular idealogical movement. The worship of dark and satanic forces has historically been linked to human sacrifice, pedophilia, sexual perversion, ego worship, celebrity worship, fragmentation of

– If you believe you are a victim, then you also believe that you have no control over your choices and fate. Church and state love for people to play the role of victim, because they know it leaves a power vacuum in one’s life, causing them to look outwardly for direction, while giving up their power.

Final Thoughts The subconscious mind doesn’t speak the same language as the conscious mind. It works on the level of visualization. Many of the influences mentioned above operate as mental images within the minds of many in our culture. A form of daydreaming. A trance like state. Waking up to this awareness is exceptionally liberating. Sigmund Fraud is a survivor of modern psychiatry and a dedicated mental activist. N THE IMMORTAL words of Tommy Chong, too much of a good thing is Great! The 2018, Okanagan Cannabis Cup competition was held at the Vance Creek Hotel and Chilcoot Conference Centre at the Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon on Saturday the 8th of September. The line-ups started well before the VIP special entry at 1:00 pm, and the six-hour medicinal cannabis event was packed until closing. Attendees sampled the various products on offer voting on their choice for best Okanagan Cannabis Cup 2018 flower, concentrates, edibles and topicals. The Conference Centre held the vendors with their sample products with an area just outside of the room dedicated to all the amazingly delicious medible offerings, more vendors and an incredible display of munchies provided free of charge as well as hosting other activities such as a joint rolling competition and the customary meeting and sharing of good cannabis. In addition to the Cup competition and great networking opportunities, there was a fun blind joint rolling competition, that made it obvious that rolling a joint blindfolded was not as easy as it looked. Competitors had about three minutes to grind their bud, get the pot onto the paper and rolled. Needless to say, not everyone completed the task successfully, with the final winner decided by the ultimate quality of the smoked finished joint. It was a great competition to watch and enter. After the joint competition we were

Overreaching Offense-Minded Policing Undermines Freedom

“The law is an opinion with a gun.” ~Stefan Molyneux Healthy policing is an extension of healthy self-defense. Self-defense turned violent and overreaching is no longer about selfpreservation. Similarly, policing turned violent and overreaching is no longer about protecting and serving. Violence should only ever be used in self-defense and never as a means toward enforcing one’s values, rules, or laws onto others, no matter how popular they are. Defense-minded policing must remain a core philosophy if a police force intends to be a moral institution. The solution is not more illtrained offense-minded police with too much power, but more well-trained defense-minded police with just enough power (a power with built-in checks and balances in place to prevent power from corrupting). In short: a complete eradication of the Thin Blue Line is in order. The bottom line is that no single person should have as much power as a cop has. Nobody should be allowed to be judge jury and executioner in the street. To the extent that a defense-minded cop has power, it should be checked and balanced by the people who pay for the policing, first, and by other defenseminded cops, second. And all cops should be held to a higher standard precisely because of the immense power that they wield. Until we can achieve a level of civilization where we have all evolved to a point where voluntarism and the nonaggression principle are second nature, the best alternative is defense-minded policing that doesn’t offensively overreach its power by shoving its gun down everyone’s throat.

The Corrupt Electoral System Undermines Freedom

“If you vote, you have no right to complain.” ~George Carlin The electoral process has cemented into place a system of legalized bribery. Elections have become auctions. They are ridiculously overrated and flawed to begin with. They attract power-hungry egomaniacs at best and warmongering sociopaths at worst. It’s time to usher in a new system of appointing leaders. The problem is our choices are limited due to bi-partisan claptrap. Our decision seems to be “vote” or “not vote” which is influenced by state manipulation, cultural conditioning,

Page 26

and entrenched political propaganda with corrupt lobbying that creates divisiveness. But there is a third option. We can “elect” to think outside the ballot box. We can “elect” to take money out of politics. We can “elect” to have a complete electoral system reboot. We can “elect” to implement a sortition system that lotteries-in leaders from an assembly of authentic leaders and prestigious elders and votes-out bad leaders. We can “elect” to devise a system that uses impeachment more often than it uses aggrandizement. Indeed. We can “elect” to not elect a president at all, because we don’t need a scapegoat-puppet who is hamstrung by lobbyists, corporations, and bankers for a “leader.” We just need authentic leaders and prestigious elders –plural; chosen randomly from a competitive assembly of other authentic leaders and prestigious elders. That will get the job done just fine, while also preventing scapegoating and the rise of psychopaths.

Despotic Leadership Undermines Freedom

“The control of information is something the elite always does, particularly in a despotic form of government. Information, knowledge, is power. If you can control information, you can control people.” ~Tom Clancy The chain of command. The chain of obedience. Allegiance to authoritative hierarchies. Top-down leadership. These forms of “leadership” have utterly failed us as a species. They have only ever led to unhealthy rigid order – creating robots, pawns, and sheep; which has only ever led to unnecessary wars waged between robots, pawns, and sheep who never had the courage to question authority. As Mark Passio surmised, “Order followers are the people who keep the system of slavery in place.” The chain of command isn’t even leadership. It is despotic followership. It’s grossly outdated. They don’t train followers how to become leaders, they train followers how to remain followers through rank and file. A true leader must break rank at some point in order to become such, otherwise he/she is only a “leader” by authoritarian dictate, or

according to some myopic and vacuous rank. True leaders cannot be controlled; they learn, through self-mastery, through the teachings of other leaders, from Pain and Nature, how to discipline themselves. True leaders don’t follow power; they learn how to turn the tables on power, even their own, so that power does not corrupt. True leaders don’t kowtow to tyranny or authoritarian rule; they attempt to dismantle it, despite the “rank and order” that props it up. Therefore, a true leader is a bottom-up leader who has the courage and the wherewithal to question the despotic top-down chain of obedience. Strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom must be thwarted. This requires courageous bottom-up leaders to throw a wrench into the machinery of the socalled “chain of command.”

7

Hoarding And Shortsighted Distribution Undermines Freedom

“The problem with the Western world is surplus production. We’re in surplus production in almost every area. But there is a terrible distribution system where people around the globe suffer and die from starvation. This is a distribution problem, not a production problem.” ~John Ralston Saul Extreme poverty and starvation are avoidable in this age of extreme surplus. The utter failure of our distribution system undermines freedom. It prevents people from thriving because they are expending all their vital energy on merely surviving. If, as Harry Frankfurt said, “From the point of view of morality, it is not important that everyone should have the same. What is morally important is that each should have enough,” then it behooves us, as both reasonable and moral human beings, to make sure that we each have enough by fixing the corrupt system of distribution. The deeper psychological problem is that we believe that our sense of worth is wrapped up in how skilled we are at something, because we were raised and conditioned in a culture that values competition over cooperation. This creates ego-centric specialists concerned only with narrow-minded one-upmanship over open-minded compassion. But we are social creatures, first and foremost. We need each other to survive. Competition has always been secondary to cooperation; otherwise we wouldn’t have survived as a species (Darwin). So, our worth is actually wrapped up in how much we care for each other. The problem is that we’ve had the cart (competition) in front of the horse (compassion) for too long. It’s time we got the horse back in front of the cart. This will

be an arduously Herculean task, considering our cultural conditioning. But it is very important, for the survival of our species, that we get it right.

8

Statism Itself Undermines Freedom

“At the core of all well-founded belief, lies belief that is unfounded.” ~Ludwig Wittgenstein How do you know if you are a statist? You are a statist if you believe that you need a ruler to rule over you, if you believe that you require permission to be free, if you blindly worship a flag, and if you believe that violence is the answer to solving problems. As it stands, the USA lives in an oligarchic state disguised as a democratic republic. Since a massive amount of wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, we’re unable to maintain a healthy horizontal democracy. Instead, we’re forced to deal with the snake of an unhealthy vertical democracy that has the diabolical snakehead of oligarchic plutocracy. If we lived within a horizontal democracy, we would have a better chance at being free. No masters, no rulers, and no chance for power to become concentrated in the hands of a few. As Edward Abbey said, “Since few men are wise enough to rule themselves, even fewer are wise enough to rule others.” Easier said than done, sure, but as Spinoza said, “All things excellent are as difficult as they are rare.” When it comes down to it, it’s impossible to live freely within a plutocratic state. The plutocrats will simply continue buying up power by creating oppressive laws and “legal” extortion rackets that keep the people without wealth and power in a permanent state of poverty and powerlessness. Add to that the use of lobbyists and a fiat currency based on debt, and you have a nation of hoodwinked debt slaves (soft slavery) under the delusion that they live in a free democratic republic. It’s time to decide upon the only choice that really matters: Free human, or indoctrinated statist; uncomfortable freedom, or comfortable slavery. The choice is yours. And if the overreaching state should continue to use violence against us, then we plant our heels deep into the ground, we lay our shields low, and we declare to the Powers That Be, as Henry David Thoreau did: “I was not designed to be forced. I will breathe after my own fashion. Let us see who is the strongest.” For sources and important links please go to: https://themindunleashed. com/2018/08/8-things-you-need-to-knowbut-probably-dont.html

BOUT THREE YEARS ago (after the aforementioned phase of hyperdimensional warfare), I came across the work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother (Integral Yoga). Their work and suggestions regarding how to deal with occult hostile forces have confirmed what I have experienced, learned and applied for myself (see quotes below). I’m still dealing with occult interferences and attacks here and there, but nothing near as severe as what transpired a few years back. I can now spot them much more quickly, before they have an opportunity to enter and/or enable their suggestions to take a hold within me – I firmly but calmly reject them as being not an expression of my true Self. Still, the learning continues, but I also know that I will never be confronted with more than I can handle. Again, from a higher perspective, all there is are lessons and initiations (specific to one’s unique path) in light of soul evolution and the process of awakening. A consistent meditation practice (or any body-mind practice) helps to “train” oneself to stay rooted in equanimity, in the body, while detaching from the predator monkey mind. Learning to calm the mind is really the foundational key within any spiritual work, and it’s especially needed for the times that we find ourselves in right now, so that we may avoid mechanically reacting to “outside” circumstances (and thus giving away our power). “The [occult] hostile forces exist and have been known to Yogic experience ever since the days of the Veda and Zoroaster in Asia and the mysteries of Egypt and Chaldea and the Cabbala and in Europe also from old times. These things of course cannot be felt or known so long as one lives in the ordinary mind and its ideas and perceptions — for there there are only two categories of influences recognizable, the ideas and feelings and actions of oneself and others and the play of environment and physical forces. But once one begins to get the inner view of things, it is different. One begins to experience that all is an action of forces, forces of Prakriti psychological as well as physical which play upon our nature — and these are conscious forces or are supported by a consciousness or consciousnesses behind. One is in the midst of a big universal working and it is impossible any longer to explain everything as the result of one’s own sole and independent personality. You yourself have at one time written that your crises of despair etc. came upon you as if thrown on you and worked themselves out without your being able to determine or put an end to them. That means an action of universal forces and not merely an independent action of your own personality, though it is something in your nature of which they make use. But you are not conscious, and others also, of this intervention and pressure at its source for the reason I state. Yes, they [the hostile forces] have their own world and, if they kept to it, there could be no objection to their existence. There is a world that is natural to them and has its own rhythm, its own dharma. But, they want to dominate the evolution and for that purpose they have taken their station in the vital worlds which influence the earth nature and give it its materials for life. As for the greater [divine] Forces (e.g. Overmind) they are dynamic and try always to make consciousness effective, but they insist on consciousness, while the hostiles care nothing for that — the more unconscious you are and their automatic tool, the better

Page 27

The Plant Medicine Manipulation Part 6 Misperceptions about Entity Attachments and how to deal with Occult Attacks they are pleased. The hostiles have themselves bodies though not of a gross physical kind — they see, but with a subtle seeing that includes not only bodies, but movements of forces, thoughts, feelings. Very great are the occult powers of the hostile beings — it is their occult powers and knowledge of occult processes that make them so strong and effective. The Asuras and Rakshasas etc. do not belong to the earth, but to supraphysical worlds; but they act upon the earth life and dispute the control of human life and character and action with the Gods. They are the Powers of Darkness combating the Powers of Light. Sometimes they possess men in order to act through them, sometimes they take birth in a human body. These things [occult demonic beings materializing in physical form] are possible but they do not usually happen — because it is difficult for beings of the subtle worlds to materialise to such an extent or for a long time. They prefer to act by influencing human beings, using them as instruments or taking possession of a human mind and body. The hostile Forces are Powers of Darkness who are in revolt against the Light and the Truth and want to keep this world under their rule in darkness and ignorance. Whenever anyone wants to reach the Truth, to realize the Divine, they stand in the way as much as possible. But what they are specially against is the work the Mother and myself are doing, to bring down the Light here into the earth and establish the Truth — that would mean their own expulsion. So they always try to destroy the work as a whole and to spoil the sadhana [spiritual work/practice] of each sadhak [seeker]. It is not only you who are attacked: all are attacked more or less — especially when there is a great progress, these forces try to interfere. The prolongation of the difficulty and its acuteness come from the fact that there are Forces in Nature, not personal or individual but universal, which live upon these movements and through them have long controlled the individual nature. These do not want to lose their rule and so when these movements are thrown out, they throw them back on the sadhak in strong waves or with great violence. Or they create in the vital a great depression, discouragement, despair

— that is their favorite weapon — because it is losing its former field of desires and has not yet in any continuity something that would replace it, the assured continuous psychic or spiritual condition or experience. To prevent that is the whole effort of these Forces. So they create these upheavals and the vital admits them because of its old habit of response to the lower Forces. At the same time they put in suggestions to the mind so as to make it also accept the disturbance, discouragement and depression. That is what I meant by saying that these are attacks from outside and must be rejected. If they cannot be rejected altogether, yet one must try to keep a part of the mind conscious which will refuse to admit the suggestions or share in the depression and trouble, — which will say firmly, “I know what this is and I know that it will pass and I shall resume my way to the goal which nothing can prevent me from reaching, since my soul’s will is and will always be for that.” You have to reach the point where you can do that always; then the power of the Forces to disturb will begin to diminish and fall away. The difficulty is always that something in the nature gives a hold to the attack. It either still indulges it and likes it or even, if wanting to be free, is too accustomed to receive and respond to the old feelings, thoughts, suggestions and does not yet know how not to respond. The first thing is for the mental being to stand back, refuse to accept, say “This is no longer mine.” Then, even if the vital feeling responds to the attack, one part of the nature can be free and observe and discourage it. The next thing is for this free part to impose the same will of detachment on the vital so that after a time this also when the attack comes feels that it is something foreign, not its own, — as if a stranger had come into the room and was trying to impose his ideas or his will on the inmates. After that it becomes more easy to get rid of it altogether.” – Sri Aurobindo, Letters on Yoga Question: ‘How is one to meet adverse forces—forces that are invisible and yet quite living and tangible?’ The Mother: “A great deal depends upon the stage of development of your consciousness. At the beginning, if you have no special occult knowledge and power, the best you can do is to keep as quiet and

peaceful as possible. If the attack takes the form of adverse suggestions try quietly to push them away, as you would some material object. The quieter you are, the stronger you become. The firm basis of all spiritual power is equanimity. You must not allow anything to disturb your poise: you can then resist every kind of attack. If, besides, you possess sufficient discernment and can see and catch the evil suggestions as they come to you, it becomes all the more easy for you to push them away; but sometimes they come unnoticed, and then it is more difficult to fight them. When that happens, you must sit quiet and call down peace and a deep inner quietness. Hold yourself firm and call with confidence and faith: if your aspiration is pure and steady, you are sure to receive help. Attacks from adverse forces are inevitable: you have to take them as tests on your way and go courageously through the ordeal. The struggle may be hard, but when you come out of it, you have gained something, you have advanced a step. There is even a necessity for the existence of the hostile forces. They make your determination stronger, your aspiration clearer. It is true, however, that they exist because you gave them reason to exist. So long as there is something in you which answers to them, their intervention is perfectly legitimate. If nothing in you responded, if they had no hold upon any part of your nature, they would retire and leave you. In any case, they need not stop or hamper your spiritual progress. The only way to fail in your battle with the hostile forces is not to have a true confidence in the divine help. Sincerity in the aspiration always brings down the required succour. A quiet call, a conviction that in this ascension towards the realisation you are never walking all alone and a faith that whenever help is needed it is there, will lead you through, easily and securely. If you think or feel that they come from inside, you have possibly opened yourself to them and they have settled in you unnoticed. The true nature of things is one of harmony; but there is a distortion in certain worlds that brings in perversion and hostility. If you have a strong affinity for these worlds of distortion, you can become friends with the beings that are there and answer fully to them. That happens, but it is not a very happy condition. The consciousness is at once blinded and you cannot distinguish the true from the false, you cannot even tell what is a lie and what is not. In any case, when an attack comes the wisest attitude is to consider that it comes from outside and to say, “This is not myself and I will have nothing to do with it.” You have to deal in the same way with all lower impulses and desires and all doubts and questionings in the mind. If you identify yourself with them, the difficulty in fighting them becomes all the greater; for then you have the feeling that you are facing the never easy task of overcoming your own nature. But once you are able to say, “No, this is not myself, I will have nothing to do with it”, it becomes much easier to disperse them.” – The Mother, Collected Works of the Mother (Questions & Answers)

Empower Yourself!

In closing, I’d like to address a very important point. I’ve already mentioned it earlier, in the story of the young man who took on an entity after an ayahuasca ceremony. This point involves the key “ingredient” in his healing journey.

Please see ENTRAPMENT, page 28

Entrapment From page 27

The most powerful “attitude” to establish in any healing work for ourselves (and to help make this world a better place) is to never fall into the victim/blame trap, be it concerning other people, the “system”, any situation we got ourselves into, or even blaming medicine plants and entities. Rather, we take on full responsibility for our own lives and choices, checking our own blind-spots, wounds and shortcomings – this attitude/mind-state of not getting caught up in victim/blame “looping” is a very empowering evolutionary step, connecting you to your true self/ divine guidance and establishing the right foundation for any healing process. Keep in mind that entities feed off of the victim/blame frequency/projections and want us to play it out endlessly – taking responsibility doesn’t imply that we “blame” ourselves either, which can result in toxic guilt. Rather, it requires humility (not to be mistaken for self-diminishment/selfpity) towards seeing own our “mistakes”, or towards making amends if we have hurt another person. Forgiveness for both self and others plays a big role in this process as well. In the end, this reality is one big classroom… and there are really no “mistakes” or “failures” from the perspective of soul evolution. Understanding the trap of the perpetrator/savior/victim triangle is key for anyone who wants to heal, evolve, grow, and awaken. I recommend reading this article for more on this topic: “The Three Faces of Victim – An Overview of the Drama

Consciousness From page 8

can be experienced in clinical death during a cardiac arrest (this is what has been called a “near-death experience” [NDE]). Some neardeath experiencers (NDErs) have reported veridical out-of-body perceptions (i.e. perceptions that can be proven to coincide with reality) that occurred during cardiac arrest. NDErs also report profound spiritual experiences during NDEs triggered by cardiac arrest. It is noteworthy that the electrical activity of the brain ceases within a few seconds following a cardiac arrest. In other respects, controlled laboratory experiments have documented that skilled research mediums (people who claim that they can communicate with the minds of people who have physically died) can sometimes obtain highly accurate information about deceased individuals. Additionally, as in the case of mediumship research, reincarnation research also supports the conclusion that mind can exist separate from the brain. Likewise, quantum physics (QP) convincingly refutes scientific materialism. Indeed, QP has called into question the material foundations of the world by showing that atoms and subatomic particles are not really objects—they do not exist with certainty at definite spatial locations and definite times. Rather, they show “tendencies to exist,” forming a world of potentialities within the quantum domain. Moreover, physicists have discovered that particles being observed and the observer—the physicist and the method used for observation—are somehow linked, and the results of the observation seem to be influenced by the physicist’s conscious intent. This phenomenon has led towering figures of QP to propose that the consciousness of the physicist is vital to the existence of the physical events being observed, and that mental events, such as intention, can affect the Page 28

almanegra Triangle” (www.lynneforrest.com/ articles/2008/06/the-faces-of-victim) We all can get triggered at times, and act from our neurotic ego: seeking validation/ attention/co-dependent love; shaming others; punishing them and putting them down. We make mistakes, poor choices, and have our down days, but all of this is part of the human experience, especially during these crazy Time of Transition days, with intense energies engulfing the planet at the present time. So much is happening on unseen levels which the mind cannot even get close to comprehending. In the end it’s about self-love. Narcissism is “pathological” self-love, an inflated egoic shadow-state, and has nothing physical world.

The Emerging Postmaterialist Paradigm Given that materialist theories of the mind cannot explain the evidence briefly presented above, and have failed to elucidate how brain could produce mental functions and consciousness, I posit that it is now time to free ourselves from the shackles and blinders of the old materialist paradigm, and enlarge our conception of the natural world. Even though we do not have all the answers yet, it is nonetheless already possible to sketch out an outline of a postmaterialist paradigm (PMP), based on the various lines of empirical evidence presented in this article. From my perspective, here are some key elements of this new paradigm: n 1. Mind is irreducible, and its ontological status is as primordial as that of matter, energy, and space-time. In addition, mind cannot be derived from matter and reduced to anything more basic. n 2. As psi phenomena reveal, there is a deep interconnectedness between the mental world and the physical world, which are not really separated—they only appear to be separated. Actually, the mental world and the physical world are deeply interconnected, since they are complementary aspects (or manifestations) arising out of a common ground. n 3. The mind (will/intention) acts as a force, i.e. it can affect the state of the physical world, and operate in a nonlocal fashion. This implies that mind is not confined to specific points in space, such as brains and bodies, nor to specific points in time, such as the present. n 4. The brain acts as a transceiver of mental activity, i.e. the mind works through the brain, but is not produced by it. The fact that mental functions are disturbed when the brain is damaged does not prove that the brain generates mind and consciousness. In line with the idea that the brain may be an interface for the mind, this organ may

to do with the selflove I speak of – this affirming harmonic doesn’t need praise, validation or attention from outside ourselves. It is not concerned with the opinions that others have of us. It doesn’t listen to the “negative introvert”, our selfdiminishing thoughts of guilt, shame, “not good enough” programs and insecurity, nor will it get inflated by flattery and compliments. It is also not an aloof/intellectual state of being, detached from our body and emotions. It is connected to the divine within us – something that is untouchable and cannot be defined nor described by the limitations of language. The most important thing you can do to raise your frequency/vibration is to love yourself. Whatever happens to you, whatever shortcomings and issues you may have, whatever mistakes and poor choices you have made, whatever people have “done to you” – love yourself, be good to yourself and others, and forgive yourself and others. This doesn’t mean to justify your shortcomings (spiritual bypassing) or put up with abuse (boundaries!); nor does it mean to cover anything up or ‘put lipstick on a pig’. It simply means not getting stuck in the blame, shame, and guilt programs, and to see life be compared to a television set. This device receives broadcast signals (electromagnetic waves) and converts them into image and sound. If we damage the electronic components within the TV, we may induce a distortion of the image on the screen and the sound, because the capacity of the TV to receive and decode the broadcast signals is impaired. But this does not mean that the broadcast signals (and the program) are actually produced by the TV. Likewise, damage to a specific region of the brain may disrupt the mental processes mediated by this cerebral structure, but such disruption does not entail that these mental processes are reducible to neural activity in this area of the brain.

Implications of the Postmaterialist Paradigm Individually and collectively, the PMP has far-reaching implications. This paradigm re-enchants the world and profoundly alters the vision we have of ourselves, giving us back our dignity and power as human beings. The PMP also fosters positive values such as compassion, respect, care, love, and peace, because it makes us realize that the boundaries between self and others are permeable. In doing so, this paradigm promotes an awareness of the deep interconnection between ourselves and nature at large, including all levels of physical organization. Such interconnection may also encompass non-physical, spiritual realms. Concerning this topic, it should be noted here that the PMP acknowledges spiritual experiences, which relate to a fundamental dimension of human existence and are frequently reported across all cultures: within the postmaterialist framework, these experiences are not considered a priori as fantasies or the symptoms of pathological processes. Finally, by emphasizing a deep connection between ourselves and nature, the PMP also promotes environmental awareness and the preservation of our biosphere. In that sense, the model of reality associated with the

through more compassionate and forgiving eyes in light of universal pain and suffering. Don’t beat yourself up with this process; there is no need to get frustrated with others, either. Some people may lash out at you, attack you and attempt to shame you, but in the end, it is their own unacknowledged pain which they are projecting onto you; even people who constantly “scream” at the world about how everything is fucked up tend to project their own pain and frustration onto the world and others. I’m not suggesting that everything “out there” is a projection of our shadow (that’s the New Age trap/distortion of “you spot it, you got it”), nor does what I state imply inaction/silence in the face of atrocities, abuse and the pathologies of official cult-ure. It’s not about escaping into a New Age “love bubble” either. The darkness needs to be made conscious, both within AND without. However, when we start to hate others, and project our disgust onto them – or think that others deserve to be punished and shamed, or even killed (no matter what they have done) – then we play the game on the level of the “predator”, the negative hyperdimensional entities (https://veilofreality.com/thepositivenegative-realms-of-higherdensities-by-michael-topper/) who are keeping humanity in a frequency asylum. In short, we become that what many of us are fighting against, and thus feed into their agenda…pun intended. Conclusion The materialist worldview, which has dominated science and academia over the last few centuries, has run its course. At last, we are reaching a tipping point in the accumulation of evidence and deeper understanding, and the old materialist worldview has started to crumble. As Thomas Kuhn insightfully noted, the history of science has been marked by a few special moments that were characterized by major conceptual breakthroughs. Kuhn called these breakthroughs paradigm shifts or changes. Pivotal paradigm changes include the shift in thinking that (a) the Earth was flat, to the Earth being spherical, that (b) the Sun revolved around the Earth, to the Earth revolving around the Sun, that (c) matter was solid and fixed (how we conventionally experience it), to matter being mostly “empty space”. It appears that we are now closing in on another crucial paradigm shift, namely the transition from materialist science to postmaterialist science. Indeed, there are clear signs that the PMP is gaining traction. For instance, a few years ago, the Manifesto for a Postmaterialist Science was published (see http://opensciences.org/about/ manifesto-for-a-post-materialistscience). Since its publication, this document has been signed by more than 300 scientists and philosophers from around the world. Furthermore, last year, the Academy for the Advancement of Postmaterialist Sciences has been founded, and a documentary film about the new science of consciousness Expanding Reality, has just been released. The transition from materialist science to postmaterialist science, which holds great promise for science, will lead us to the next great scientific revolution, and will be of vital importance to the evolution of human civilization. I am convinced that this transition will be even more pivotal than that from geocentrism to heliocentrism.

“Just cause you got the monkey off your back doesn›t mean the circus has left town.” — George Carlin The reptile part of our brain can easily take over and dominate us with its appetites and territorial imperatives. “I can resist anything except temptation.” — Oscar Wilde Be wary of absorbing toxins of any kind. The positive aspect is that this is a propitious time to work on detoxification. “Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.” — Abraham Joshua Heschel Temptations are very, very tempting and that is probably why they are called temptations. It is foolish to underestimate their power. Before you reach for a temptation, ask yourself if you will remember this indulgence well on your deathbed. If you will, then you’d be a fool to pass it up. If you won’t, and you keep on reaching for it again and again and again, then you are on the path of a Ring Wraith, withering into a hungry ghost. “The second half of a man’s life is made up of nothing but the habits he has acquired during the first half.” — Fydor Doestoevsky There are many forces within us: appetites, compulsions, complexes, and sub-personalities, and all of them are reaching for the steering wheel. We each need to develop a strong central witness personality, one capable of observing and overseeing the process without becoming possessed by a compulsion, appetite, or inferior sub-personality. “Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell.” — Unknown You are surrounded by black magicians — advertisers, acquaintances, and possibly unseen entities, who tempt you from within and without toward a toxic fate. But you are not just a passive recipient of temptations, you may also be a source of temptation yourself, or its all too willing partner. Don’t surrender to anything that is not in accord with your inner truth. Don’t do anything that compromises your inner dignity. “Better shun the bait than struggle in the snare.” — John Dryden, English poet, dramatist and critic (1631-1700) The I Ching says, “He who seeks nourishment that does not nourish reels from desire to gratification and in gratification craves desire. Mad pursuit of pleasure for the satisfaction of the senses never brings one to the goal. One should never follow this path, for nothing good can come of it.” The I Ching does not support compulsive hedonism, but also does not support excessive asceticism and galling privations. It is often confusing as we try to navigate between the tendency to be too hard on ourselves and the tendency to be too easy on ourselves. The I Ching says that in ambiguous cases we should lean toward leniency toward others and discipline with ourselves. “Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be Page 29

Reptile Appetite alcohol or morphine or idealism.” — C.G. Jung What are your addictions? The addictions could be to foods, intoxicants, compulsive sexuality, unworthy companions, grooved patterns of emotional reactivity, fundamentalist/absolutist rigidities of mind, poor quality cultural products — music, movies, porno, channel surfing, first-person shooter video games, etc. and any sort of habituated, mechanical patterns in your life. The positive aspect is that this is a propitious time to work on freeing yourself from addictions. You need to be your own wise alchemist, supervising what is entering your cauldron and where

are limited in their possible evolution because they lack the corpus callosum — the dense bundle of neurons connecting the two hemispheres vital to superior intra-brain communication. These evolutionary biologists further speculate that Homo sapiens may also have a brain communication problem and that it could lead to our extinction. We have very poor communication between our cerebral cortex, our center of higher thinking, and our brain stem, the reptile brain that governs appetites and aggression. Anyone that has tried to break a physical addiction discovers how tough it is to get these parts to work together. Headline news is largely variations on the theme of higher thinking being impotent to restrain territorial aggression and other reptilian drives.

“First we form habits, then they form us. Conquer your bad habits or they will conquer you.” — Rob Gilbert Addiction always means that you have enslaved yourself, like a Ring Wraith, to some outside object, some Precious. You need to cast the Precious into the Cracks of Doom and regain your magically empowered inner wholeness. (See: Casting Precious into the Cracks of Doom — Androgyny, Alchemy, Evolution and the One Ring (www.zaporacle.com/textpattern/ article/43/castingprecious) “Habit: The shackles of the free.” — Ambrose Bierce We are easily enslaved by addictions that are ruled by the reptilian part of our brain. Almost everyone has to do battle with this aspect of human nature. No matter how many setbacks and reversals you experience, keep struggling to free yourself from that which would enslave you and drain your life energy. “Habit, if not resisted, soon becomes necessity.” — Saint Augustine In the words of the old Chinese saying, “There is no harm in falling down, only in not picking yourself up again.” “Power is the faculty or capacity to act, the strength and potency to accomplish something. It is the vital energy to make choices and decisions. It also includes the capacity to overcome deeply embedded habits and to cultivate higher, more effective ones.” — Stephen R. Covey It is rarely appropriate to lifeguard other people. Often the best you can do for an obsessed/addicted person is to lovingly withdraw energy from them while they are in a state of eclipse. If possible, think

“Anyway, no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we’re looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn’t test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.” — P.J. O’Rourke But there is more in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in the philosophy of neurological materialists and fatalistic observers of human history. As William James said, “All that is necessary to disprove the notion that all crows are black is one white crow.” If any human being has ever resolved this problem, then the possibility is open for you not to be ruled by your reptilian aspects. Free will is more rare and more fragile than some presume, but you have a choice. Become a white crow.

Some more quotes on addiction: “People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase

idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within.” — Ramona L. Anderson “A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means. This is an obvious lie. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is… A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.” — C.S. Lewis “What makes resisting temptation difficult for many people is they don’t want to discourage it completely.” — Franklin P. Jones “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.” — Frank Outlaw “It is with our passions as it is with fire and water; they are good servants, but bad masters.” — Roger L’Estrange “Enduring habits I hate… Yes, at the very bottom of my soul I feel grateful to all my misery and bouts of sickness and everything about me that is imperfect, because this sort of thing leaves me with a hundred backdoors through which I can escape from enduring habits.” — Friedrich Nietzsche “Habits? The only reason they persist is that they are offering some satisfaction. You allow them to persist by not seeking any other, better form of satisfying the same needs. Every habit, good or bad, is acquired and learned in the same way - by finding that it is a means of satisfaction.” — Juliene Ber “WE [MOI], AS A GROUP, DO NOT RECOMMEND…VERILY, WE REPUDIATE ANY ANIMAL / MINERAL / VEGETABLE / SYNTHETIC SUBSTANCE, VEHICLE and/ or PROCEDURE WHICH MIGHT TEND TO REDUCE THE BODY, MIND OR SPIRIT OF ANY INDIVIDUAL (any true individual) TO A STATE OF SUB-AWARNESS OR INSENSITIVITY … that is to say WE ARE HERE TO TURN YOU LOOSE NOT TURN YOU ON.” — Frank Zappa Jonathan Zap is an author, philosopher, journalist, and teacher who has written extensively on psychology and contemporary mythology. is needed to return life on Earth to its true state of creative resonance, but fail to do so. We have instead, allowed ourselves to be won-round by an alien force and its accompanying false agenda: its deception. So, as we awaken to our true reality, we must use the creative, imaginative powers with which we are richly endowed, to dismiss the three dimensional imposter. The imposer of the three dimensional deception – that we have confused with reality. The task of mankind is to rediscover and re-establish its connection to the source of all life.

Dialogue between a master A and his pupil B: B The Universe, or what is referred to as ‘space’, seems to be a kind of ethereal void, populated here and there by stars, planets, occasional meteors, comets and such like. A The Universe seems like a vast and mysterious place, but when you consider that it is contained within a dew drop or a human cell, it becomes less distant. In fact, it becomes very immediate. I refer, of course, to the microcosmic condensation of the macrocosm. What is ‘space’? It is not what it seems. The word does not describe the reality. It seems void because you are only using your five senses to analyze it. There is no ‘space’, the area referred to is full of energy. An energy field. But you don’t recognize that which you can’t experience with your five senses. B What other sense do we possess, other than that which recognizes reality through touch, sight, taste, smell and sound? A We have our perception and intuition; these are receptors that pick up vibrational messages due to the absolute interconnectivity of all matter and energy. When you connect up with the source of all that is, you find that you are part of it, not distant from it. You cannot observe or experience it dispassionately - from a distance – because you yourself are part of the composition. B But rational observation forms the basis of all science, it enables us to understand the nature and structure of things, including the Universe. We want to understand how and what life is. A Such curiosity is a perfectly acceptable condition in mankind, but it arrives at the wrong answers; unless man feels himself to be part of that which he observes. Not only this, but recognizes that he affects that which he focuses upon. Both intentionally and unintentionally. B How is this achieved? A One cannot say ‘how’ it is achieved, unless one is prepared to come at it from the opposite dimension and perception from that which one is accustomed to, in one’s experience of everyday life. B Oh? A What we experience in our typical daily lives is that which operates, almost exclusively, within the realm of the five senses. Take sight: Visible light- what we ‘see’ - constitutes less than 0.5% of what is actually ‘out there’ in our Universe. Or ‘in here’ within our microcosmic and internal Universe. So we cannot understand, within the scientific discipline which belongs to the Newtonian school of thought, how and what life is, if we only rely upon our five senses to reach our conclusion. There is a missing dimension. B What holds us back from being able to experience this missing dimension? A Almost everything which forms the experience of what we call life, here

be a legitimate reason. As humans continue to adapt and co-habit with wildlife in our modern, urban environments there are many ways to help integration. A Quantum Dialogue on the Meaning and Purpose of Existence on Earth. We operate within a three dimensional framework which has become so institutionalized that we take it to be the sum total of everything that is. Whereas actually, it constitutes something quite alien and divorced from the true state of existence: that which we experience in the fourth dimension and beyond. B Tell me more about the fourth dimension and beyond.. A You already know something about this. When you fall asleep and dream, you are entering this dimension, subconsciously. When you get an ‘inkling’ about something – and then find that this inkling turned out to be true – you are also touching the fourth dimension. The problem is that, most of the time, you dismiss these experiences as being irrelevant to the tasks and needs to which you address yourself. Those tasks which form the daily diet of a materialistically aligned world. That superficial repetitive pattern which forms the central point of focus of life on earth at this time. That which broadly operates within what we call ‘the status quo’. B I want to understand what this ‘other dimension’ is and how to have greater access to it. I do get these ‘inklings’ from time to time, but never really questioned where they come from. A Alright. Intellectually, you can already get closer to the higher dimensions by using something of what (well focused) three dimensional thinking has already been able to ascertain, concerning further dimensions. Take that chair you’re sitting on. It appears to be hard, doesn’t it? But actually, when seen/experienced from the higher dimensional state, it is not. It is just a mass of whirling atoms, clustering together in such a way as to provoke the sense of shape and form we call a chair. If we understand correctly from science what atoms are, we would not describe them as ‘hard’. Simply as getting into areas of your garden that you do not want them digging. We can also read the mythologies and folk tales of our various cultures and try to see more clearly that every creature has a role to play in nature. We can educate ourselves and others so as to understand the deeper connection between all living things. And, maybe, we can also be like Ratatoskr the squirrel and bring the message of wisdom and conservation to those we share our world with. Jonny Enoch is a clinical hypnotherapist,

‘energy’. Mutable energy. Now, look at me, or look at yourself. We too, seen from the higher dimension, are also a whirling mass of energetic particles (called atoms). The only difference between us and the chair, is that we are imbued with a whole host of sentient, sensitive attributes which operate on a vibrational wave length tuned to a different (higher) frequency than that of the chair. The fourth dimension and beyond, is actually our true home – where we come from. And in it, we exist as spirit energy. This spirit experiences life as a quantum event. Everything interconnected with everything, everywhere, at all times. This quantum state is our true reality, and everything else is a falsehood. B A falsehood? A Yes, because in our true state we are at one with all creation. Which means at one with our Creator. The Divine Source of all that Is. Whereas, in a purely five sense, three dimensional state of existence, we do not allow ourselves access to the vibrational waves of higher awareness that constitute the true universal state of reality. The 99.5% of existence we think of as ‘beyond the realms of possibility’. B Is this ‘lack of connection’ the cause of our seemingly endless problems, here on Earth? Are we really living in such a tiny matchbox and imagining we are having a universal experience? A Essentially, yes. We experience most of our lives as something completely divorced from what Life actually Is. This has not come about by chance. It is a design which has been imposed upon mankind by a force whose motivation is alien to the will of the Creator, yet which vampires energy from creation. However, since we are gifted with powers that originate with our Creator, but have largely failed to apply them, we are complicit in the problem. We possess all that esoteric researcher, and writer. Currently, he resides in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Jonny is an avid reader, nature lover and has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Not only has he been researching ancient history, hidden symbolism, and occult subjects for over 20 years, but his quest for answers about the unknown has led him on travel adventures all over the world. Currently, he is writing a book on ancient consciousness technologies and lost civilizations. David Halpin is a writer from Carlow, Ireland. He compiles local folklore and

B Are we making any progress in that direction? A It is called ‘waking-up’. This is an apt expression, as it suggests coming round from a state of unproductive dormancy. Universal energies, whose origins are the higher dimensions, are manifesting strongly on planet Earth at this time. The pace is quickening. The attempt to block that quickening pace and its accompanying awakening, is equally manifesting itself, increasingly obliquely. As a result, people are experiencing a critical confluence of disparate forces. The feeling, for many, is of being pulled apart; a type of dying. The man and woman emerging out of this storm will be closer to their true state of being. Much closer. They will understand that they embody both sides of the disparate energy mix now manifesting. The alien and the true state. They will recognize that both the creator and the destroyer exist within, and that each individual has the power of ‘free will’ to choose which to nourish into fullness. They will discover that they are in possession - and always have been - of higher instinctual and intuitive energies. Energies which, when properly directed, make it possible to avoid returning to a repetition of past errors. They will realize that the source of their power is not their own. Does not belong to them, but is an inherited gift, a seed, whose origins rest with their Creator. Thus, rather than puff themselves up with false pride, they will honour the source from which their divine powers emanate. The life to come, here on earth and beyond, will be uniquely directed towards building upon the fruits of this deepening recognition. In this way God and Man will be reunited – to put it better – will rediscover their unity. Their oneness. And the quantum Universe, with open arms, will welcome back the profusion of its presently disconnected and alienated parts, and thus become whole. At that moment, the dance of all joyous dances will manifest throughout. And the purpose of Life will be revealed. B Blessed be that day!
