ccording to the FDA’s legal definition, a drug is anything that “diagnoses, cures, mitigates, treats, or prevents a disease” The problem with this definition is that there are numerous substances, as readily available and benign as found on our spice racks, which have been proven by countless millennia of human experience to mitigate, prevent and in some cases cure disease, and which cannot be called drugs according to the FDA. How can this be? Well, the FDA has assumed for itself Godlike power, requiring that its official approval be obtained before any substance can legally be used in the prevention and treatment of disease. The FDA’s legal-regulatory control therefore is totalitarian and Napoleonic in construct; what it does not explicitly permit as a medicine is implicitly forbidden. Historically the FDA has required new drugs undergo expensive and elaborate multi-

phased clinical trials, which are out of the grasp of any ordinary interest who might want to demonstrate the efficacy of a nonpatentable (and therefore unprofitable) herb, food or spice. The average out-of-pocket cost for obtaining a new drug approval is 2.6 billion dollars,[1] and therefore an investor putting

capital into bringing to market a substance that does not lend itself to market exclusivity and therefore cannot produce a return on investment, is committing economic suicide, if not also breaking the law. The investor actually has a legally-binding fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders to make a profit. And therefore, capital will not flow into any would-be commodity that can be produced or obtained with ease, including most things that grow freely on this Earth. It is an interesting footnote in history that shortly after the Declaration of Independence, Congress declared that natural substances, e.g. water or salt, were God’s gift to mankind and that therefore products of nature should be limited in their patent protection. While this was a noble declaration, it has actually been used against those whose rights it would protect. It has forced private interests to synthetically alter natural substances -- for instance the burgeoning biotech field of recombinant DNA and RNA interference technology, i.e. genetically modified organisms (GMOs) -- for the sole reason that it guarantees them ownership/patent rights. In fact, a medical system that, due to its corporate structure, legally requires it make a profit threatens to destroy and/or incriminate itself if nonpatented, non-profitable natural substances or therapies are employed. It also results in so much collateral damage to those it purports to serve that it could rightly be called a modern form of human sacrifice. As a result, instead of choosing prospective medicines logically: because they work, are easily accessible, and safe, billions of dollars flow in the exact opposite direction, capitalizing only those substances which are unnatural, and therefore while proprietary are almost

invariably unsafe and less effective, and whose access and administration can be intensively controlled.

Has the Attempt to Co-opt Medicine Through the DrugBased Model Undone Itself? And yet, there is a silver lining to the story. Due to the fact that our bodies are ultimately constructed from the natural things (food, air and water), and obey very strict natural laws such as the well-known principle of chirality (handedness) - the fact that all amino acids in our body turn a beam of polarized light in the left-handed direction (L-lysine) and sugars to the right-handed direction (D-ribose)-- one cannot simply create biologically active, synthetic drugs arbitrarily, as a mistake in handedness (or similar property) could be fatal (this is the lethal problem with ibuprofen). Nature, therefore, still provides an elegant biomolecular architecture of irreproducible intelligence and complexity, from which synthetic analogs are modeled and/or derivatives are spun. As a result, billions of dollars of drug industry and government money (i.e. tax payer money) flow into finding lead compounds for drug development. Nature is put on the rack, if you will, and her secrets teased from her through innumerable animal and test tube experiments, in order to find compounds that can then be converted into synthetic, patented drugs. Inadvertently, some of the very same companies and interests which require that natural substances not receive the same drug-approval status as synthetic ones, are funding research that prove basic vitamins, foods and spices are as effective or more effective - and usually much safer - than the drugs they are developing to replace or supplant them. This means that tens of thousands of studies do exist showing that natural substances may prevent and/or treat disease, at least in the in vitro (test tube) and animal models. These results often confirm traditional uses in Ayurvedic, Chinese and other traditional systems of medicine, and therefore may be compelling enough for individuals or healthcare practitioners to use the information to inform their treatment decisions.

The Case for Curcumin in the Prevention and Treatment of Disease The government biomedical and life sciences database known as Medline contains over 28 million published study citations, and is accessible to search through engines such as Pubmed.gov. 3.6 million of them contain reference to cancer. 250,000 of them remain after applying the “Complementary Medicine” filter. There are 1,042 topics related to cancer which can be found indexed on the GreenMedInfo.com database, referencing 838 natural substances of potential value. Turmeric, and particularly its polyphenolic constituent known as curcumin, which gives the spice its golden hue, is one of the most extensively studied natural compounds of all time, with 15,750 references to it on the National Library of Medicine’s bibliographic database known as Medline [as of 9.03.2019]. And yet, despite having been shown to have therapeutic value in over 800 disease states in animal and in vitro studies, it

W

hat does it mean to be born free? For that matter, what must we be free from so that we may be free for something? Philosophers have been attempting to answer these questions since the dawn of human consciousness. One can argue that there has been progress, and yet we still find ourselves born unfree. What does it mean to be born free? It means to be born into a state where the tyranny of culture (whether religious or political) does not confine or limit a person in either mind, body, or soul. What must we free ourselves from, that we may be free for something? Again, the answer is the tyranny of culture. It’s just a more proactive way of asking the same question. So, what is the tyranny of culture? The tyranny of culture is the conditioned state, the indoctrinated state. It’s societal preprogramming and brainwashing, whether political or religious. It’s the prison of the status quo that most of us are unaware of. Governing this precept, it stands to reason that if Spinoza’s opening quote is to become self-realized, we must first admit that we were not born free, second, find a way to get free (from tyranny of culture) and third, replace our conception (misconception) of good and evil with something more grounded. Something more in alignment with the nature of things. Something more conducive with universal laws and the way the cosmos actually works, as opposed to the way we’ve been indoctrinated to think it works. Easier said than done, no doubt. But becoming free was never meant to be easy. As Epicurus said, “The greater the difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it.” So what is this more grounded “something” that we should replace the concept of good and evil with? The concept of healthy and unhealthy on a sliding scale of moderation. Let’s break it down…

Healthy & Unhealthy vs. Good & Evil “In everything, there is a share of everything.” –Anaxagoras

Page 3

When we peel away the layer upon layer of culture from the human condition, we discover an extremely insecure animal wrestling with the knowledge of its own mortality, who is forced to contemplate its own tiny existence within an ancient and dwarfing universe. What else is such a creature to do but balk and then create concepts of good and evil based upon fear of the unknown? Well, for one, such a creature could evolve and then create technologies that bring it more into alignment with the unknown. Rather than fear, rather than balking, such a creature could realize that things are not based upon good and evil at all, but upon healthy and unhealthy. Here’s the thing: we are all going to die. There’s no way around that. It’s how we live our life that matters. And in a universe that dictates health rather than goodness, it behooves us to come into alignment with the universe’s healthy dictation. This way, goodness is health and the very concept of goodness itself is more conducive with the way the cosmos actually works rather than the way our fear-filled forefathers falsely imagined it works. Focusing on health launches us beyond good and evil. It gets us out of our own way. Caught up in the concept of good and evil, we rely too much on the fallible opinion of mankind. Whereas, coming into alignment with healthy and unhealthy, we can rely on the infallible dictation of universal laws. For example: universal law dictates that you need oxygen to survive. If you breathe oxygen, you are healthy and you live. If you don’t breathe oxygen, you are unhealthy and you die. This isn’t a matter of opinion. It’s not up for debate. It’s dictated by the cosmos that evolved us into a creature that needs oxygen to survive and be healthy. Health then is about survival, and the healthier we are, the better we will be at surviving. The problem with the concept of good and evil is that it muddies the waters of health by forcing the unnecessary middleman of culture’s opinion into the mix, and such opinions are usually unfounded and outdated, usually having nothing to do with universal laws or the way the universe actually works. For example: A priest could have the opinion

Why the Law Forbids Natural Medicines

The Art of Being “My vision revealed creativity, epiphany and possibility beyond my imagination. I became engaged in a multidimensional dance with the universe.”

By IAM SAUMS iamsaums.com

“Being is truly living.”

The First Step:

Twenty-three years ago, I was living a lie. Fresh out of adolescence, I dove into a social scene that offered only escape from the experience of life. No matter how much I strove to succeed, I was faced with a stark reality. Society does not promote or support creativity or its expression. Fond memories remain of the adventurous and daring endeavors of my youth, pushing the established boundaries and leaving what I hoped would be my watermark. Then one day I woke up hungover as I usually did at that time. I realized I was done living an illusion. It was time to shift my experience.

Blind Epiphany:

I don’t recall what it was that brought me to this insight. Something stirred deep down inside me, beyond my understanding. It was like catching a wave and riding it in faith one day I would end up in a better space. I felt a powerful flow drawing me into the embrace of a destiny I could have never imagined. All the people in my life gradually went their own ways into the promise of maturity, security and society. Without my daily distractions, delusions and vices, I was left with who I had become, an arrogant, selfrighteous, human vortex imposing myself and my ego upon the world.

Purification:

Through my personal revelations, I let go of who I was to envision and create who I could be. During this purification, I experienced all possibility. An explosion of consciousness evolved out of my willingness to transform. Everything I released from my life inspired a quickening of my creative focus, intent and purpose. My transition from illusion to reality was swift and smooth. Suddenly I was exercising, meditating, writing and experiencing personal awakenings. My vision cleared and a new lifestyle emerged. One that led me on a path of creativity, consciousness, empowerment and insight.

As Within … So Without:

My life and how I perceived it to be transitioned simultaneously. When I chose to be progressive, my experience expanded. When I regressed, it contracted based on my lack of focus, intent and purpose. I began to express and manifest my reality. My mind and body were a microcosm to the macrocosm of my heart and soul. The synergy between the four dimensions of my being, my intuition, feelings, thoughts and actions, revealed the existence of experiences I had always yearned to encounter, yet failed to discover and embrace.

The Solitary Way:

We see ourselves through many different perspectives, none more enlightening than another’s point of view. Often in life, we are faced with opportunities to disengage from society and walk our own path. This is vital when choosing to become who we are meant to be. However grand it may seem to socially belong, eventually we all must venture beyond the established realities of others to create and experience our own. It is a lonely journey navigating a personal maze of mirrors. Though both challenging and rewarding, it is our pathway to personal fulfillment. The darkest nights of our soul ultimately become the brightest days of our lives.

“The present is the only moment in which we can be.”

Pathways of Purpose:

We all have practices to establish the focus of our intention. Be they creative, educational, healing, spiritual or in service to others, how we identify and express ourselves is the embodiment of our soul. When we

accept our opportunities to progress, we inspire our experience. For the last twentythree years, I have been empowered by proactive and progressive ways to transcend social reality and make a difference. If we are not willing to give of ourselves and our lives to transform our experience, we are merely marking time, awaiting the inevitable. There is nothing more gratifying and momentous than our goodwill.

Insight and Inspiration:

Who we become and how we live is inspired by what motivates us. Our lives are littered with social errands, obligations and responsibilities constantly coercing us into surviving instead of thriving. Something new must be created for us to break out of the common, vicious cycles in which we subscribe. Our intuition and heart allow us to transcend social reality. When I chose to be guided in this way, it elevated and expanded my experience. My vision empowered my creativity, epiphany and possibilities beyond my imagination. I became engaged in a multidimensional dance with the universe.

Age of Empowerment:

We live in an extraordinary era. A transition is occurring shifting us from rigid, social standards to identifying, claiming and expressing our personal power. We all have the potential to be the leaders we look for in others. It simply requires us to embrace our opportunity, express our purpose and manifest our destiny. When I transformed my perception of how I experience life, it became less about obligation and more about inspiration. The definition of success is not monetary, it is energetic. The life force I receive from the universe is equivalent to the quality of my focus, intent and purpose.

Being Energy:

We are who we chose to be. We are a body, mind, heart and soul. Yet most importantly, we are a vessel of universal energy. When we maintain balance with the dimensions of our being, we align with and express our fullest potential. The essence of who we are is the difference we choose to make in service to others. Giving for the sake of giving is what truly conveys our humanity, relativity and divinity. Sharing our creativity, energy and universality is what empowers our vision, passion and willpower. Our energy is what transforms our being and experience.

The Art of Being:

Shifting our focus from egocentricity to philanthropy is the soul of our transformation. As present as we are to others is as present as we are to ourselves. When we listen with an intent to hear, we are truly being. This is our relativity with the universe. When we choose to serve others, we embody universality by holding a sacred space for all to be. Imagination is the breath of the universe. Being is the way we align with the universe to empower us as an expression of its creativity.

“Being is the essence of the universe.”

Nine Years By Lorenzo & Fredalupe! “There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.” ― Louis L’Amour

nd so here we are again, Reader, Writer, with magic swirling in between, as our nine-year journey is coming full circle, as the crow flies. As our eyes literally, literarily, make their way into new dimensions of thought, Words become the water of our passage together, sculpted and scripted, to all appearances, fitted and fixed, yet fluid and moving, into a paradox in and of prose, somehow creating a heavy weightlessness, a drifting play of words and feeling, a gossamer vision rising then falling with each imagined stroke. “Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.” ― Gilda Radner Attention draws consciousness through this momentary glimpse of sudden selfawareness, of this, our meta-fictional reality play, reflecting on and in the mirror of our medium, of our briefly united consciousness, this fleeting beauty, this composed caress. “The great miraculous bell of translucent ice is suspended in mid-air. It rings to announce endings and beginnings. And it rings because there is fresh promise and wonder in the skies. Its clear tones resound in the placid silence of the winter day, and echo long into the silverblue serenity Lorenzo-Publisher of night. The bell can only be seen at the turning of the year, when the days wind down into nothing, and get ready to march out again. When you hear the bell, you feel a tug at your heart. It is your immortal inspiration.” ― Vera Nazarian Words, now, marking milestones of meaning as they slowly sink back into our wake, back into the black depths of the limitless, as we continue to ply our passage through the paper-thin expanse of this moment we are sharing, both travellers in this truest agency of Being: Awareness. “Nothing is pending in the world… nothing is finished, yet nothing is unresolved…Everything is filled to the brim.” ― Carlos Castaneda Nine years coming. Oh, to be sure, much has been written, collated and formalized about this particular sequence and grouping of time; whole numerical cosmologies constellate the skies of human imaginings and efforts at scratching at the wonder and mystery of existence, mining for meaning, grasping at understanding, defining, and so on. It’s very good for us to try to piece, to puzzle, to discover…and yet, all the while enduring in our utter awe of Mystery, of mystery remaining so regardless of our attempts at making it otherwise. “Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature. And that is because, in the last analysis, we ourselves are a part of the mystery that we are trying to solve.” ― Max Planck Page 5

Nine years going. We grappled and cajoled, teased and promised, enticed and argued, worked at and for and with, did our best and our worst, made friends and enemies, were attacked and loved, were deceived and forgave, mentored and were schooled, laughed, cried, whispered and yelled, made public and kept private, all of it, all we could squeeze into that nine year package of temporal existence. Under the finite list of human business, we covered what we could. As ever, with this and the rest, of our paths and our choices, our decisions and our perspectives, we went and continue to go our own way. “The aim is to balance the terror of being alive with the wonder of being alive.” ― Carlos Castaneda Nine years here. In that time, we have watched Worlds entire shift around us, tectonically, titanically, at times terribly, sliding into where we do not know. Entire peoples, cultures, civilizations, ancient and otherwise, are emerging into consciousness as others vanish entirely from our view. By our own hand language, meaning, intelligence, consciousness, beauty, even love is being rewritten, redefined, transmogrified as far from the natural as is possible. Science fiction is come to life. Artifice, cunning and clever offers its crooked paths to all and all. Nature itself writhes under the distorted thumb of its screw. “You have little time left, and none of it for crap. A fine state. I would say that the best of us always comes out when we are against Fredalupe-Editor the wall, when we feel the sword dangling overhead. Personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way.” ― Carlos Castaneda That this is a far different and stranger land we find ourselves in than the one we left behind there can be no doubt. Luckily for us, we, in our unbending intent for freedom are stranger, and, whereas doubt is concerned: we reserve that for our certainties of what is to come next. Mystery is mystery after all. And if there’s one thing we know for sure, without reservation or hesitation, that’s the fact that we’ve all been mysterized. “For me the world is weird because it is stupendous, awesome, mysterious, unfathomable; my interest has been to convince you that you must assume responsibility for being here, in this marvelous world, in this marvelous desert, in this marvelous time. I want to convince you that you must learn to make every act count, since you are going to be here for only a short while, in fact, too short for witnessing all the marvels of it.” ― Carlos Castaneda Yet, as always, there seemed, and seems still, to be some invisible something moving, creating ripples of change where events, objects and persons, dance in synchro-mystic splendour, weaving spirals of power from the unknown into a music to fill the Heavens. For that and all else we are grateful. Our Mirificent Journey Continues … Lorenzo & Fredalupe!

Transforming The Darkness With Regan Keely

M

y name is Regan Keely and it is with much excitement to be joining forces with the New Agora! It is a heartening connection to share space with such an inspiring team which holds the same principles as I for conscious evolution. That being said, I’d like to say hello to the readers and tell you a little bit about myself and my life’s work. I am a practicing agorist, a journalist for empowering ideas, and a holistic healer. Put bluntly, I am here to help renegate us into a new paradigm of free humans. Since I was a child, I refuted the hollow “matrixreality” that was presented to me from all directions. My awareness of the degradation of humanity (and my role in it) was a grand problem that haunted my mind. For the sake of my own clarity, I felt responsible for finding answers to this powerful question: what can one individual do to make a difference in transforming the horrendous tyranny of the world? Over the years, this question has guided me through many different strategies for empowering individuals and grassroot communities towards a free, peaceful, and voluntary way of living. This work has naturally expanded further than economics and human action into the deeper core of the matter: human consciousness. It became clear that to transform the tyranny of the world, one must first transform the tyranny of the Self. This seems a natural consequence for any intent thinker who sees his fellow man in chains and wonders what has happened on this planet for so many willing slaves to be. I came to perceive that the slavery on this planet was far deeper than merely economic - it was a mass manipulation of the minds and hearts of humanity. It is a deep programming of self-powerlessness and selfsabotage in the psyches of man that serves to create such madness in this world. My heart began to guide my quest for liberation to the study and practice of deeper methods of self-empowerment: holistic healing, energetic transformation, and creation on a spiritual level. Before I knew it, I was learning universal healing modalities, from psychoanalysis to energetic healing to herbalism to shamanism. I started practicing the art of re-programming my mind to welcome new and higher experiences into my life. It has completely changed my world. This was when, much to my inner being’s delight, I found the most potent ways to consciously harness my clairvoyant gifts to shine the strong light I felt within me onto the world without. I felt the axiom ‘Don’t fight the old, build the new,” on a deeper level than

ever.

And so it is this that I am here to share these exciting discoveries with others as openly as I can, for I know this is information that will change the world as we know it. It is not only my goal to help others heal themselves, but to show everyone their own powerful ability to transform themselves independently as the conscious creators they are. As more wake up to their own inner power, individual by individual, we will see the world transform as we know it. Going forward in this aspiration I will be sharing the most pragmatic and spiritually-liberating content I can produce. For the past few years I have been publishing material on the economic strategies of individual power, the theories and practices of true self-healing, and the methods of consciously creating your reality with your mind. I am ready to ignite the mutineers of consciousness. Above all, it is my will to shine the highest encouragement upon a beautiful and powerful race that has been degenerated by the status quo’s gloomy false narratives for far too long. That being said, I am here to create informative articles, videos, and even a ‹questions and answers’ section about agorism and holistic health to directly open up the dialogue with the compelling readers. I am also offering my transformative services far and wide for those who seek accelerated momentum in the discovery of their own internal abilities. I have years of professional experience for both in-person and remote energetic healing sessions from Reiki to Biofield tuning. I have also been successfully helping my clients through the newly emerging field of life-coaching to actualize their greatest potential. Furthermore, I have been offering direct lessons for helping those interested in developing their own clairvoyant abilities to learn accelerating methods of advancing Higher-Sense Perception. If interested, the reader can find my website below with more information about these services, testimonials, and archives of my work in this field so far. To conclude, I’d like to thank Lorenzo and Fredalupe for this wonderful opportunity and the readers for their remarkable support in this endeavor to bring new levels of information to humanity. I look with eagerness to the many new creations to come of this. No longer are we victims to the dreary illusions of our fears. In these times, as we dare to will ourselves into ignition without limit, we are the masterful creators of our future.

s an esoteric researcher, I’m constantly traveling the world searching for clues about lost ancient civilizations, secret societies and the answers to life’s most puzzling questions: Where do we come from? What happens after we die? And are we alone in the Universe? In order to decipher these great mysteries, not only is it necessary to read everything you can get your hands on, but also to visit strange lands and meet with extraordinary people. In the pursuit of forbidden knowledge, sometimes I’ve found myself meandering around the hallways of an old Tudor castle – still haunted by the ghost of Henry VIII, exploring the legends of Vlad the Impaler, or retracing the footsteps of European alchemists through intoxicatingly-beautiful cities like Budapest, Vienna and Prague – all steeped in rich layers of historicity and religious iconography, with food and wine worthy of the gods. I’ve discovered that every place in the world has an occult history, symbolically encoded into layers of architectonics, timeless monuments and geomagnetic anomalies. For those reasons I’ve been asked by the New Agora to write a reoccurring travel column, documenting my esoteric adventures. And since Halloween is around the corner, I thought what better time to explore the strange and mysterious history of our own backyard here in beautiful Vancouver. After all, the University of British Columbia made headlines in 2012 for its ground-breaking studies in parapsychology; a field that has been dominated by the likes of Dr. Jeffrey Mishlove at Stanford. Their research explored Ouija boards, proving they work through what is known as the ‘ideomotor effect’. That means they can deliver subtle messages from the subconscious mind via our autonomic nervous system. When most people think of occult cities in Canada, however, Vancouver is not their first choice, as Winnipeg, Manitoba, perhaps first comes to mind. Not only because of its close proximity to a well-documented UFO encounter back in 1967 known as the “Falcon Lake incident” – which the Canadian mint released a 2018 collector coin to

Page 6

THE OCCULT SECRETS OF VANCOUVER By Jonny Enoch commemorate – but its Legislative buildings were allegedly built on top of subterranean chambers, it also has an in-house Masonic lodge and is plastered top-to-bottom with esoteric symbolism. I learned from my friend, gifted seer and Metis elder, Derrick Whiteskycloud, that even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle traveled there back in 1923 to attend a séance and was convinced he made contact with the spirit of Harry Houdini. Psychism was so common place that at up until 2008, Winnipeg required licenses for practicing psychics that specified their type of fortune telling. But could there could be an even more occult city in Canada? That led me to meeting with legendary author, cannabis scholar and Soma Institute founder, Vancouver’s own Chris Bennett. He greeted me at the door of his eclectic downtown pad with boundless energy, wearing a red smoker’s jacket and Shriner-like-fez. Examining me for a moment through his dark rimmed glasses, a warm smile emerged from under his distinguished beard before inviting me in. “Come in and make yourself comfortable, man!”, Chris blurted out, as he directed me over to a stoner-friendly couch adjacent to him covered in bright flower-patterned blankets. I felt like I just stepped through a magical wardrobe into entheogenic Narnia.

A volcano vaporizer in the corner just finished (eviscerated) an organic nug of lemon-haze into a misty cloud of pure canna-bliss. His walls were covered in electric skateboards, old hookahs, shelves full of rare esoteric books, miniature figurines of Templar Knights, famous occultists, and magic scrying mirrors. There is a great video of our exchange here: https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=LLwBFJCHf4w

He began to gush over his latest occult artifact, which was an intricately carved late 19th century wooden bench in the middle of his living-room, decorated with winged-horned rams, angels and demons; like a fixture inside of an Austin Spare painting. He had just imported it from an antiques dealer in the UK that told him it came from the upstairs of the Golden Dawn’s Osiris lodge, which perhaps was sat on by the likes of Wescott and Mathers themselves.

With an encyclopedic-like-memory he began to rapidly disseminate a detailed account of how cannabis,

hashish and nightshade-imbued elixirs were used by the early Rosicrucians, Freemasons, Theosophists and the Royal Society to attain higher states of consciousness. We also discussed how these substances were used by early spiritualist and sex magick pioneers like Paschal Beverly Randolph. The Romantic period was known for its nightly séances and experimentation with psychoactive substances, alongside phantasmagoria shows that used candle lit lanterns to project spooktacular figures of skeletons, phantoms and ghosts onto semitransparent screens in packed mustytheaters. And although spiritism started to spread in Eastern Canada by the 1850s and to the West by the 1870s, Vancouver’s First United Spiritualist Church just celebrated its 100th anniversary – a congregation run by psychic-mediums to this day. At that point my attention shifted, as perhaps it was the cat clawing at a carpeted pole in the loft above, or the resident parrot screeching from across the room, but I gazed over at an epitaph of Shiva and the Hindu gods nestled up to a portrait-statue of the beast himself, Aleister Crowley. Chris noticed my eyes wandering, and proudly told me, “I sculpted that myself, you know!”

His eyes lit up, as he further exclaimed: “Did you know Crowley visited here? When I was researching my new book Liber 420: Cannabis, Magickal Herbs and the Occult, I learned that one of the individuals assisting Crowley, Charles Stansfeld

Jones, also known as Frater Achad, had lived just a few doors down from my child hood home in North Vancouver, and Crowley visited him there. As well there is a claim he was arrested, nude and acting peculiar after performing a ritual circumnavigating the centre of the city in 1930, probably high on the peyote that Crowley gave to local members of the OTO, which as far as I can tell was right across the street from my Shop the Urban Shaman, which has been there since 2001, at Victory Square.” According to Chris, Vancouverites were deeply rooted in the occult at the turn of the 20th century. Not only was this city home to artist, writer and Theosophist, Emily Carr, but was once visited by the great Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. It’s not hard to imagine how Coastal British Columbia would have captivated the imaginations of the 19th and 20th centuries most prolific occult minds.

With winter wonderlands like Whistler, Seymour and Cyprus nearby, Vancouver is renown for its supernatural beauty and majestic mountains that are subtly surrounded by the sparkling waters of the Pacific. Arguably, its crown jewel is Stanley Park, which is crawling year ‘round with joggers and cyclists that stop to snap selfies in front of its iconic skyline. This area has a longstanding history involving the First Nations people and British settlers, resulting in an infusion of totemical art and Indigenous place names for its spellbinding surroundings. A city recognized for its ostentatiously weird and provocative culture, which can be found at regular demonstrations and exhibits in front of the art gallery. Could this be a result of lingering magical energies left behind from the bizarre public rituals of the past? There are so many taste-tantalizing places to eat and drink at Gas Town, Granville Island and more. But what about occult shops, you might ask? Well, there is Banyan Books in Kitsilano, which has been around since the 1960’s and is like the Costco of metaphysics. And then there is a wide variety of speciality shops catering to cards, crystals and essential oils. Page 7

One of my favorite things to do when visiting any large city is rummage through old bookstores in search of occult treasures, and Vancouver is no exception to this with the likes of McLeod’s books. Walking through its dusty glass doors is like having your olfactory nerve surreptitiously madelove to by an orgiastic frenzy of the pleasantly soothing aromas of fermented ink and paper. Like a scene out of the 1999 movie The Ninth Gate starring Johnny Depp, manic book collectors of all walks of life scramble to a war-tornbox smothered counter for appraisals of priceless literary works, as an eccentrically brilliant expert with very little patience and a bad hair day tells you what they are worth. It is here that many Theosophical works, rare magical grimoires and manuscripts by Sir Francis Bacon fly off the shelves at top dollar to scholars and private collectors with deep pockets. As impressive as that all might sound, in my opinion the award for the most charming occult city in Canada goes to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, which is only 1.5 hours away from Vancouver by ferry. I like to call it ‘little London’ for the British feeling you get here, not only because of its gorgeous Greco-Roman architecture and red double decker buses, but there is a statue of Queen Victoria – who wanted to be faced away from the place, back towards England. There is a video I did about it here: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=XDaVhSataM0

Vancouver Island is a rocky landmass surrounded by salt water, which according to local historians, John Adams and Kate Humble – who do an incredible job with the ‘Ghostly Walks’ (https://discoverthepast.com/ ghostly-walks), and is a must do if you are visiting – is the reason why it is one of the most haunted places in Canada. That and during the construction of Fort Victoria, many First Nations burial grounds were disturbed by being dug up and built on top of. Victoria’s Parliament buildings are not only built alongside ley-lines and caked in esoteric symbolism, but their construction was complete in 1897 on top of underground tunnels by their designer, Masonic architect Francis Rattenbury. Not only did he go on to build the Empress hotel in 1908, but was murdered by his wife’s estranged lover in 1935. In the early 1900’s, Victoria was not only home to a growing spiritualist movement, which we are reminded of when you visit the upstairs floor of the Craigdarroch castle and find an antique Ouija board, but it was also overrun with brothels, opium dens, and gruesome hangings at Bastion square. Buildings have been discovered there with the remains of people ritualistically buried alive into the

walls. There is also an unsolved cold case that baffles historians to this day that stems from an 1899 incident where a neatly dissected body was discovered on the Songhee reserve, believed to have been the work of England’s Jack the ripper. Some researchers claim that Victoria has the second highest population in the world of practicing witches and satanists next to Geneva Switzerland. And while it’s highly likely, given the population’s esoteric proclivities, I haven’t been able to confirm that. However, there was a popular book that came out in 1980 called Michelle Remembers, written by psychiatrist Lawrence Pazder about Michelle Smith. She eventually became his wife after claiming to have been subjected to ritual abuse by members of high society in many well-known areas of Victoria. One of these places was the Ross bay cemetery in which Mitchell described a mausoleum in which she was allegedly buried alive in and used to evoke a demonic entity. Critics are mixed, as some have dismissed her alarmist claims as fictious, because a hypnotic regression was used to recall these memories at a time when satanic hysteria was popular with television evangelists. But when you get past Victoria’s macabre past, there is a magical feeling here. I’m reminded of that every time I rent a bike and go for a stroll around beautiful Beacon Hill park and fly kites

by the ocean. Or drive up to the Mount Tolmie lookout spot at night to stare at mesmerizing sea of sparkling lights while devouring an after dinner, saltedcaramel Empress square from Roger’s chocolates. This city is not only crawling in amazing little metaphysical bookstores and occult shops, such as the Triple Spiral in Chinatown’s Fan Tan alley – run by my magical friend, Phylis, but also many delightful-old haunts with diabolically-delicious food. When in town, I always visit the Bard and the Banker: an old bank converted to a pub, alleged to be haunted by the ghost of a famous Canadian poet, Robert Service. I like to slouch down into a comfortable leather booth in the back corner for a pint or two and read his poetry out loud and see if I can see a shadowy figure emerge. So, remember, if you are looking for an esoteric adventure, why not consider Vancouver and nearby Victoria for your next haunted holiday. ith so much talk about the evidence of the positive effects of yoga and meditation, you might be surprised at what scientific research also says about how art effects the brain. Long before modern neuroscience, artists were creating works to inspire people and today complex brain imaging scans can show us just how art changes the physiology of our brains. Contemplation, observing, and taking in beauty all stimulate pleasure centers within the brain while increasing blood flow by up to 10% in the medial orbitofrontal cortex. This can lead to an elevated state of consciousness, wellbeing, and better emotional health. “The blood flow increased for a beautiful painting just as it increases when you look at somebody you love. It tells us art induces a feel-good sensation direct to the brain.” – Professor Semir Zeki, chair in neuroaesthetics at University College London

Observing Art

Mirror Neurons are neurons that fire both when a person acts and when the person observes the same action performed by another. This brings us back to a very basic concept in human evolution which involves modeling. When you observe a profound piece of art you are potentially firing the same neurons as the artist did when they

Page 8

How Art Changes Consciousness Art can heal us, inspire us, and alter our brain chemistry created it thus making new neural pathways and stimulating a state of inspiration. This sense of being drawn into a painting is called “embodied cognition”.

“Making art activates the whole brain and can foster integration of emotional, cognitive, and sensory processes.” – Joan French MA NCC LCPC

Creating Art The act of creating art is also therapeutic which has been the impetus for the art therapy movement. Every one of us lived like artists as children and we have the ability to bring back this powerful form of expression and self-healing if we allow ourselves to. You don’t need to be an expert to enjoy smearing paint on a canvas and letting your pleasure centers light up like a child!

“Art accesses some of the most advanced processes of human intuitive analysis and expressivity and a key form of aesthetic appreciation is through embodied cognition, the ability to project oneself as an agent in the depicted scene,” – Christopher Tyler, director of the Smith-Kettlewell Brain Imaging Center This explains why we might feel like we are dreaming when we look at impressionists like Claude Monet, or having an ecstatic vision while looking at a painting by Alex Grey. The ability of art, combined with our own imagination, to transport us to other realms is astounding. Artists have the ability to show us new worlds but we shouldn’t put them on a pedestal because each of us is an artist.

“Art therapy, sometimes called expressive art or art psychology, encourages self-discovery and emotional growth. It is a two-part process, involving both the creation of art and the discovery of its meaning.” – Paula FordMartin Modern Visionary Artists are applying the idea that art inspires community, is educational, and has the capacity to elicit spiritual revelations. Painting together in groups and painting live at musical events,

these artists are allowing participants in on their creative process. Seeing and understanding that even the finest pieces of art have many moments when the artist isn’t satisfied or needs to paint over something is revealing for each of us on our spiritual journey.

Celebrating how Art changes Consciousness Artist Alex Grey has opened Cosm in New York which is being called a Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. Within the Visionary Art Movement is the idea that creativity itself is a path to the divine. This includes creating art, gathering around/celebrating art and creating communities that foster creative expression

By www.academyofideas.com “Unlimited possibilities are not suited to man; if they existed, his life would only dissolve in the boundless. To become strong, a man’s life needs the limitations ordained by duty and voluntarily accepted. The individual attains significance as a free spirit only by surrounding himself with these limitations and by determining for himself what his duty is.” ~ The I Ching or Book of Changes, Hexagram 60 In discussions of freedom there is a tendency to focus on political freedom. But there is another form of freedom which today, is just as rare. That being the psychological freedom that is experienced when we recognize our weaknesses and bad habits, and instead of wallowing in self-pity, we exercise our autonomy in pursuit of a better life. This form of freedom is all-too absent today. Addictions, compulsions, neuroses, and other self-sabotaging behaviours keep many of us locked in mental prisons and hinder our ability to flourish. Often these issues are attributed to flaws in our genetic or biological makeup. Hence, the solution is to alter our brain chemistry

Page 9

Why Purpose and Discipline Promote Psychological Well-Being with regular doses of pharmaceutical drugs. But not all agree that a change in our biological makeup is the only, or even the best way, to escape from our faulty ways of being. Steven Pressfield, in his book Turning Pro, put forth an alternative theory. He argues that many of us will only find a cure to what ails us if we can re-gain control our life and begin moving in a direction which permits us to enjoy the life-affirming experience associated with personal growth. And the best way to do this, he argues, is to commit ourselves to the pursuit of excellence in a self-chosen field, a process he calls ‘turning pro’: has nothing to do with being sick…What ails us is that we are living our lives as amateurs. The solution…is that we turn pro.” ~ Steven Pressfield, Turning Pro The decision of the amateur to

“…what ails you and me

remain locked in a mediocre life, and that of the pro who decides to discipline himself to excellence, are both responses to the recognition that life consists of suffering. Yet while the amateur seeks relief from the pain of life primarily through the numbing effects of addictions and the pursuit of pleasures, the pro strives to rise above his suffering through what Pressfield calls “labor and love”. Some people are lucky in that they find a calling early in life and commit to turning pro with little thought as to what they are doing. For others, however, the choice to turn pro requires many wasted years drifting in despair, before the realization strikes that a change to a more purpose-driven life is needed.

“No one is born a pro. You’ve got to fall before you hit bottom, and sometimes that fall can be a hell of a ride.” ~ Steven Pressfield, Turning Pro If we decide to turn pro, we need to recognize that it is not a part time endeavor. It requires daily sessions of what psychologists call “deliberate practice”, in which we hone our craft through persistence and focus. Our vocation, or calling, must become a top priority. In place of the hours we previously devoted to pleasurable distractions we must devote this time to cultivating the habits and skills needed to excel in our work. Turning pro, in whatever field we choose, involves placing ourselves in self-imposed chains of discipline, for paradoxically, this is the path to psychological freedom. “…freedom in its essence is the acceptance of the chains which suit you and for which you are suited, and of the harness in which you pull towards an end chosen and valued by yourself, and not imposed. It is not, and never can be, the absence of restrictions, obligations or law and of duty.” ~ Bronislaw Malinowski, Freedom and Civilization While most people can structure their life

urious about kratom? Trust me, I was once in your shoes before I started diving deeper into the sea of countless articles on the internet about this sacred tree. I could do all the reading in the world, but it wasn’t until I personally experienced this amazing herb that I was able to relate to what I’m writing about here. I remember my first time trying kratom, I decided to drink it like matcha tea by mixing the leaf powder in with hot water. My mind was racing in a million places. What is its potency? How much should I consume? Worry not, I can assure you that every newcomer to kratom goes through the same stages of uncertainty and unease. Especially with the lack of proper labelling and directions available on the market today. I’m told by vendors the reason for the information embargo is that if an unapproved herb is sold with claims and directions on the label then it is pulled off their shelves. The workaround in the States is to sell it as a tea, and it is typically sold in Canada as a bulk botanical with no instructions. Most of the information about its uses and directions has to come from online user guides, videos and forums. And so it only takes a little bit of research to ensure that you don’t accidentally take too much and launch yourself into the cosmos. But even if you do, the good news is that kratom is a relatively gentle herb. You will just get little nauseous and won’t try that again! It is always good to start small and work your way up, as I’ve learned

A Beginner’s Guide to Kratom

that less is more. In fact, the few times that I have tried kratom, I found it was best to start with a teaspoon, or more precisely, mixing between 1 to 3 grams of powder in hot water and see how it goes. Because it can be very grainy and bitter, it is best to have a chaser of either water or juice, and to keep stirring as you get closer to the bottom of the cup. If you are straining the leaf powder and not drinking the grinds, then more is required. That is why I’ve come up with this handy (and easy-to-follow) guide to equip you with the fundamentals of kratom. I understand that for many of you, kratom is a relatively new topic – some have probably never heard of it at all. Since it has just recently started making its way into Western culture, there is a general lack of knowledge and

education associated with its benefits and ancient roots. That’s why I will start off by discussing the origins of kratom, how it was used traditionally, and how it continues to be used in today’s society. Although it is commonly known as kratom, its real botanical name came from the 19th century Botanist, Peter Korthals of the Dutch East India company, calling it “Mitragyna Speciosa”, or “the precious mitre”, as its leaves resembled a Bishop’s mitre. Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia – particularly to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea – and is categorized under the same family as the coffee plant, Rubiaceae. As an evergreen tree, kratom can grow incredibly large! Apart from its length of about 80 feet tall, the kratom tree produces glorious leaves and budding flowers that look like spikey little stars.

There is currently a large movement towards beautifying public places with murals that contain cultural and community relevance.

According to Dr. D. Stephen of the Botany Department of The American College, the kadamba tree mentioned in the Vedantic writings of ancient India is actually the kratom tree. There are numerous scriptures in the Hindu holy books about Krishna standing in front of his favorite tree with the Yamuna River flowing in front of him. Even Aryabhatta, the great Indian astronomer, imagined the kadamba/kratom flowers to be like humans standing on Earth and all of them being pulled towards the center because of the force of gravity. For the indigenous cultures of South Eastern Asia, kratom has been used in traditional medicine since at least the nineteenth century – but we can trace back its usage, history and linguistics for thousands of years. This widely popular herb also has many reported heath benefits. Thai medicine books mention kratom as being a natural analgesic, anxiolytic, sleep aide, useful in treating chronic coughs, lowering blood sugar and stopping diarrhea and intestinal illness in its tracks. It has also been used for deworming, and mixed with water and

Imagine how we might create a more peaceful, vibrant world by surrounding ourselves with beautiful art… I’d like to see a world where scientists, politicians, and spiritual practitioners gathered around art to learn and share with each other towards creating a better world. Visual art can heal us, inspire us, and alter our brain chemistry leaving us filled with inspiration and love. We don’t need science to prove this to us but now that it has what are some ways that you will invoke art and creativity for your own spiritual journey? made into a paste for skin ailments like psoriasis and eczema. In recent years it is even being studied for its high levels of antioxidants and its antiparasitic and antifungal effects on washing down countertops and surfaces. As a matter of fact, many workers would chew on kratom leaves to relieve musculoskeletal pain and increase energy, appetite and sexual desire. As of today, kratom is not only used to manage chronic pain, but also used in cases to help those who suffer from depression and anxiety. In fact, many people have reported that the use of kratom helped substantially relieve discomfort associated with suffering from opioid withdrawal. Mitragynine, one of the many active alkaloids contained in kratom leaves, provides relief from pain and anxiety by activating the opioid receptors. Many other active alkaloids found in kratom leaves are being researched for their amazing pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, while others are being studied for their benefits as muscle relaxers, brain boosters, and for blood flow. As you can see, kratom has been used for centuries for its medicinal and health effects. Like coffee, not only does kratom produce a mild stimulantlike effect, but paradoxically relaxes you at the same time. Being a part of the coffee family, it also has a similar history of controversy and acceptance.

In recent years, we have seen kratom hysteria due to over-marketing on the internet to the present moment where it is being accepted for its widely acknowledged benefits. When coffee was first introduced into England it was associated with all night dance parties, Bohemian types and brothels, which is where ‘tea time’ came from. But thanks

to popular culture and semantics, there is a Starbucks at every corner of the world and ‘a cup of joe’ is the staple of every workplace. Much like cannabis, there are many strains of kratom available today, and it is important to research which one works best for you. Kratom leaves contain veins, which are a genetic feature caused by coumarin derivatives or bioflavonoids, and are not only unique to each variety like hair and eye colour in humans, but also act like a natural defense against insects. The colour of these veins and their region determines the effect of the strain. Strains are divided into three different categories: red-vein, white-vein and green-vein – easy enough, right? Each vein has a different chemical composition – containing various alkaloids with funny sounding names such as 7-HydroxyMitragyanine and Mitragynine – resulting in variety of wonderful effects. This was well documented in 1975 by a detailed study called the Chelsea College Report. Another important factor that can determine the effects of kratom are the maturity of its leaves, which are more potent when harvested from the tops of older trees. Due to supply and demand these days, sometimes immature leaves are harvested from newly sprouted tree farms instead of the jungles, which have become overrun with palm oil farmers. This has unfortunately resulted in a weaker product that is rushed to market. To begin with, Red Vein Kratom Strains tend to be the best selling and most widely available on the market. I would liken the reasoning behind this to the pain relieving and euphoric effects, caused by the presence of the Mitragynine alkaloid in the leaves. If you want a sense of comfort, both physically and emotionally, or simply desire a dreamy state of reverie for a sleepy fall evening, then red is your go-to! Keep in mind, there are many specific strains that fall under

red-vein strains – and depending on the vendor, sometimes there will be flashy marketing and names attached to them. The best strains for pain relief are typically ones like Red Maeng Da, Red Borneo and Red Malay. Another popular strain that has been around online since the early 2000’s is called “Bali Kratom”. After talking to various vendors, I was fascinated to learn that since no kratom trees actually grow in Bali, this famous variety of kratom was really just red vein kratom from Borneo that was made famous by Balinese traders. Because of its legendary status, Bali is the go-to classic with a dream-like euphoric effect (perfect for those newbies), and acts like a friendship beverage that can tear down those awkward walls and open up lively conversations with good friends under the stars. The list of benefits goes on and on. Green-vein Kratom Strains provide a clear head and energy that have a slower onset, but can last up to 8 hours – think: ‘green means go’. The general effects of these strains are alertness of the mind, increased levels of physical and sexual energy, elevation of mood and a sense of motivation to get things done. That being said, I’m not a certified kratom expert so don’t hold me accountable – effects and intensity depend on the amount of kratom you use, as well as the source from where you purchase it. If you are looking for an energy boost, try switching out your morning coffee – I know, easier said than done – for green-vein strains such as Super Green Maylasian, Green Riau, Green Indo, or Green Dragon, etc. Lastly, you’ve got the White Kratom Strains – such as the Sumatra White Vein and Borneo White vein – which provide a short lasting, energetic and anti-anxiety effect, but also clear minded energy with no euphoria or pain-relieving effects. I found these strains helpful in the case of

needing to focus on work. You can also get special blends of different kratom varieties known as Mixed Strains. The various alkaloids create unique properties and effects when mixed together. It is a little-known secret in the kratom world that varieties like Maeng Da, which is said to come from Southern Thailand and gets its name from “M. Parvifolia”, is actually a blend of red and green vein leaves. This unique blend creates an uplifting and relaxing effect. And much like the Bali strain, this unique blend, its quality and mixing ratio is different for every vendor. The mythology behind this mythical strain is that it is believed to come from a special ‘horned leaf’ that some market for its increased potency. In reality, this special leaf with jagged edges cannot be found in great supply and is only a small mutation found in 1 in 1000 trees with a regular amount of alkaloids. Kratom affects different people differently; lower dosages of kratom can lead to energizing effects, whereas larger doses tend to result in more sedation and relaxation. To avoid getting a high tolerance to kratom, I would highly recommend changing the kratom strains and veins you take frequently – and, what should be common sense: don’t abuse it. Just like the old saying goes – and I hold this as a rule of life – too much of anything is bad. Overall, kratom is highly beneficial and holds many of nature’s secret healing powers. However, with the craze for kratom increasing day by day, there is a high demand for many online and offline stores selling this product. The most important thing to look out for is whether you chose a quality product or not. It is just as important for you, as it is for vendors, to hold high standards that lead to safer, more pleasant kratom experiences. Be alert – some vendors sell out of date products for profit. Make sure you do your research and stick to reputable companies. Kratom comes in a variety of forms such as powder, leaves and capsules. I recommend you research the effectiveness of each form before you go about your own experience. With that being said, this guide is for educational and information purposes only and is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure any diseases. Always seek medical advice if you have any concerns.

e live in a sea of subtle energies. We can become conscious of them and learn to

use them. Ancient cultures understood that we live in a vast sea of energy. They understood that the planets and stars are conscious beings who communicate with each other. They believed that the trees serve as antennas, which allow natural subtle energies and information to flow up from the Earth to the stars and planets, and from all other celestial bodies into the Earth. They taught that everything and every being has consciousness and channels this energy according to its capabilities, to help facilitate this essential cosmic dialogue. In fact, they understood that all matter, including the physical body, is a gathering of this universal energy. They recognized that our thoughts and emotions are a form of energy, and that when these are in harmony with the living universal energy field, we become clear channels. Then, the life force of the Earth and cosmos flows through us more smoothly and abundantly, guiding our evolution as new perspectives are revealed and advanced abilities are awakened within us. These abilities include heightened creativity, extrasensory perception and the ability to bring about dramatic physical healing. Shamans learn to feel, sense and use this energy without filtering or distorting it. They often refer to this process as becoming a “hollow bone”.

We transmit and receive energy.

This universal sea of energy, called Qi in China and Prana in India, circulates through our bodies, interacts with the electromagnetic spectrum and includes other subtler energies not yet understood by western science. It is the foundation for the practice of acupuncture, where thin needles are used to assist the flow of vital energy through meridians in the body. It is the inner force that advanced martial artists cultivate and direct outward. The Hopis of the American Southwest use the term Kachina to describe the world of subtle energies. They perform rituals and ceremonies to interact with the Kachina in order to attract rain to grow their crops, and to receive healing and other benefits. The Dogon people of Africa call the channel through which the Earth projects energies through us, the Bayuali. They call the channel through which we receive energies from the cosmos, the Yenu. The Dogon believe that it is our responsibility as humans to become clear channels who ease the flow of cosmic energies rather than interfere with or obstruct them. Although western medicine limits its focus to electromagnetic energies, it does acknowledge that the human body functions as a two-way antenna. Doctors use tools such as ECG’s and EEG’s to determine whether a patient is still alive by measuring the electrical energy being transmitted from within that

patient’s body. They understand that our bodies receive information from electromagnetic fields in our environment to regulate circadian rhythms, such as our sleep-wake cycles. Scientific studies indicate that the spinal cord (containing cerebro-spinal fluid which is conductive) acts as a natural antenna and that DNA serves as a fractal antenna, capable of operating at many different frequencies simultaneously. It is also interesting to note that the U.S. army demonstrated that trees work as remarkably good antennas for wireless communication and used them for this purpose during the Vietnam War.

7.83 HZ: The Earth and cosmos exchange energy and information.

Nikola Tesla – the physicist whose inventions laid the foundation for our modern use of electricity and wireless technologies such as alternating current, radio, x-ray, radar and Tesla3remote control – discovered that the Earth receives, stores and transmits energy. In 1899, he built a lab in Colorado Springs on the summit of Pikes Peak, a site considered sacred by the Hopi and Ute Indians. While running experiments there, he detected extremely low frequency (ELF) waves of electromagnetic energy being naturally transmitted within the cavity between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere, 80 kilometers above the Earth. He discovered that within these ELF waves, those that vibrated at about 8 cycles per second (8 Hz), flowed more smoothly between the Earth and ionosphere, with less resistance and greater amplitude (force or power). He believed it was possible to use this innate frequency of approximately 8 Hz as a carrier wave to transmit information and power without wires, to any part of the world. Tesla was deeply interested in preserving the Earth’s natural resources for future generations. He spoke fervently about the need to discontinue the use of fuel as a power source. His goal was to harness “the very wheelwork of nature” by tapping into the natural and renewable

storage battery that exists between the Earth and the ionosphere. He was unable to obtain sufficient funding to complete projects involving the wireless transmission of power, however his idea of the wireless transmission of information led to the invention of both AM and FM radio. Tesla also stated that during his time at Pikes Peak, he recorded radio waves being emitted from the cosmos to the Earth. Countries around the world now use radio waves to analyze the composition of stars and planets. In 1952, a physicist named Schumann measured the resonant frequency of the Earthionosphere cavity more specifically to be 7.83 Hz (confirming Tesla’s calculations of approximately 8 Hz). The Earth transmits and receives a measurable energetic frequency that surrounds all life on this planet. It has been discovered that the human brain, while in a deep state of meditation, lowers its brainwave oscillations to harmonize with the Earth’s resonant frequency.

We tune into this cosmic dialogue of energies by adjusting the frequency of our brainwaves.

In Shamanic traditions, drums have long been used to produce rhythmic vibrations that assist the Shaman in attuning his/her mind with the living universal energy field. In this state of altered consciousness, the Shamanic practitioner is able to interact with the non-physical world. They channel and

transmit subtle universal energies to help heal themselves and others. They also receive information in the form of vivid imagery, thoughts, words and ideas communicated to them by guides and ancestors from the spirit world. This shamanic tradition has been studied using EEG tests. Results showed that the brainwave pattern of the subjects slowed down into a theta state. This state is entered when the majority of brainwaves transmitted by the subject, begin oscillating at a frequency of 4-8 cycles per second (4-8 Hz). EEG studies performed on regular meditators revealed that they also enter this theta state during periods of deep meditation. Those who practice a consistent meditation routine often report experiencing a shift in their awareness of surrounding energies, sudden realizations, colorful visions, new abilities and emotional and physical healing. They also report that the more often they meditate, the easier it becomes to access this altered state. Tesla was aware of this living universal energy field. In his article, Man’s Greatest Achievement, he used Vedic terms such as Prana and Akasha to describe this field, from which all perceptible matter is generated. He said that he accumulated many of his ideas while alone in deep meditation. He called himself “a sensitive receiver” and reported seeing visions and receiving premonitions, including one that helped him to prevent his friends from boarding a train that later crashed. He disclosed that he had a photographic memory and described visualizing his inventions in such detail that he could operate the device in his mind, then make improvements to it and provide precise and correct measurements without ever even drawing a sketch. A shamanic practitioner explained to me that we all continuously receive and transmit energy and information through this subtle universal field. However we spend

It also provides pathways for blood vessels, nerves and lymphatic vessels to travel through, so that nutrients and hormones can be delivered to every cell and toxins can be carried away to be eliminated. The fascia also serves as the supporting physical material for the acupuncture meridian system. Physical trauma can lead to increased tension and the formation of scar tissue within the fascial network. This causes the fascia to shorten and tighten, which can impinge nerves, disrupt the flow

much of our time in the higher frequency beta brainwave state (15-30 Hz) associated with alertness, logic, critical reasoning and stress. This distracts us from the subtler energies and inhibits their flow through our bodies. We could compare this to having our car radio tuned into the same station all the time, not knowing that we can adjust the dial. Adjusting our brainwaves to the Earth’s natural frequency of approximately 8 Hz through regular meditation, is like turning the dial on your radio to a new station. While tuned in we receive more life force and information from the universe. At this frequency, we also transmit energy with the benefit of constructive interference. This term, used in physics, describes the increased amplitude (force or power) that occurs when two waves of the same frequency come together. When we harmonize our brainwaves with the natural frequency of the planet, our intentions are transmitted with the force of the Earth behind them, giving them much more power and direction.

New abilities are awakened within us. In a previous article, Your Cells Are Listening, How Talking to Your Body Helps You Heal, I wrote about a surprising ability that was awakened within me after several months of dedicated meditation. This is the ability to converse with my body through words, and receive dramatic physical responses. As I talked with my leg – where I was experiencing severe pain and partial paralysis caused by a condition called reflex sympathetic dystrophy – I suddenly felt scar tissue unwinding under my skin, nerves firing and energy moving along defined pathways through my calf. My calf muscles began to perform flexion and extension exercises independently of my conscious control, as electric-like jolts continued to shoot through the area. Through a series of conversations with my leg, I was able to completely restore function to the muscles. Realizing the broad potential of this mindbody technique, I organized my approach into a system that I could teach to clients, called Antara (Sanskrit for within).

Experiences we have encountered in our lifetime and how we have processed them determines the way our body funnels universal energies. By communicating with different tissues in my body, it became clear that changes in the connective tissue called fascia were responsible for unwinding the tension and scar tissue, freeing the impinged nerves, unblocking the acupuncture channels and allowing communication to be restored between my nerves and my muscles. The fascial network is a thin, very strong, three-dimensional net of biological fabric, Page 13

While applying and teaching this technique, I have observed that emotional trauma also plays a role in fascial tension and scar tissue. According to shamanic belief, physical tissues at the deepest level, are a gathering or concentration of emotional energy. All physical life forms begin with a single emotional impulse. Emotional energy is the trellis that physical bodies grow on. My experience with the Antara method suggests that the fascial network in the body is a physical representation of what I call emotional latticework. Each of us builds our own unique emotional latticework within our body that is formed from the energy of both positive and negative emotions. Stress, unresolved traumas, and suppressed emotions can build a complicated energetic latticework containing disharmonious frequencies that seem to change the tonicity of the fascia and interfere with energy flow. Imagine the fascia as a biological fabric made up of many long threads. Each thread vibrates with life force similarly to how a string on a guitar vibrates when waves of energy travel through it. When you tighten a guitar string by twisting the tuning key, this raises the pitch (the frequency of vibration of the string). When the tonicity or tension of the fascial threads change, their frequency of vibration also changes, and the body becomes an out of tune instrument. This alters the resonance allowance of the body or the range of frequencies that the body naturally channels. Often while communicating with my own body, I would feel very obvious unwinding sensations in my fascia, and each time that I was able to release a new line of tension or layer of scar tissue, I would experience an intense dream that very same evening. The dreams would usually involve people, relationships or events from my past – usually those that I haven’t thought about in a very long time. Occasionally the dreams would be based on primal fears (or possibly past life experiences) rather than anything I have experienced in this lifetime. Clients also report being surprised by the unexpected emotions or dreams that surface while they are practicing Antara. This is true in both gradual and sudden onset cases of chronic pain. It seems that the energy of

unexpressed emotions can compromise the tonicity of the fascia, and interfere with the normal healing process after injury. At some point the emotion becomes trapped within the tissue. The Antara process unwinds the fascia and releases the trapped energy, then the emotion is experienced as it either easily flows out of the body or is brought to the surface where it can be acknowledged, processed and then released. The newly liberated fascial threads re-integrate with the whole, as the fascial network begins to function like an orchestra playing in harmony again. The life force from the Earth and stars flows more smoothly through the body and the regenerative processes return.

Illness and injury are an opportunity to evolve. In Shamanic teaching, illness that does not respond to conventional treatment often indicates a spiritual initiation process that leads to the disruption of normal life and withdrawal from the mundane world. The individual undergoes a period of physical, psychological and spiritual trial, where they must feel, understand and integrate the most difficult experiences of their life. By seeking answers to the mysteries of life and by turning inward through meditation, new levels of awareness are reached. The individual gains freedom from self-imposed restrictions and oppressive environments (both of which can manifest as tension in the fascial network that resists energy flow). They realize that every physical challenge, every emotion, and every person that crosses their path has been a stimulant for their own evolution and are able to navigate life with more inner peace and trust in the process. With less interference,

they begin to channel universal life force more freely and discover surprising abilities within. This transformation can lead them to a higher purpose or destiny than previously imagined. They are given the opportunity to heal themselves and then share what they have learned while making a lasting contribution to the world. The Antara method is the result of my own experiments with focused intention during deep meditation. While in a brainwave state attuned with the Earth’s natural resonance, my intentions to communicate with my body are transmitted with greater power and direction. With the support of the Earth and Cosmos and the cooperation of my physical body, I was able to manifest dramatic and profound physical healing. We exist in a living universal energy field. Each one of us can become conscious of this field and learn to better cooperate with it in order to overcome challenges, and to fulfill our higher destinies in this life. he Raw Food wave is strong and getting stronger as people are seeing such positive health benefits. The array of recipes available for the home chef and the growing number of commercial eateries offering raw fare that are popping up across our land, have spurred great interest in this Raw Food movement. The colours and textures of a raw food meal make it so satisfying and utterly delicious. On Vancouver Island there is a gem in Duncan, north of Victoria. The Glow Juicery and Raw Food Café has proven itself to be a favourite for both locals and health seeking travelers with a surprisingly varied and creative menu. The owner, Brandy Mandrusiak, is pleased to share the news that the popularity of her Glow Juicery and Cafe outlet has led to a wonderful Glennis Taylor expansion. Taking over an adjacent store front has allowed Brandy to have a more restaurant like setting with additional seating to go with its growing popularity. The blue green walls and wicker furniture lend a welcoming and comfortable fresh west-coast atmosphere. Brandy is working on a more restaurant style operation with menus and a leisurely, cozy setting that invites one to stay and relish the wellpresented meals. The Cafe caters to both the takeout market and the dinein crowd.

Brandy has employed two capable managers to look after the daily requirements of the cafe, freeing her up to step back and look at the bigger picture for the future direction of the cafe. This has actually led to the business growing ever faster as she has broadened her vision and made the decision to expand, giving a new dynamic to the Juicery and Cafe. Brandy admits that by allowing herself days off, she has been able to continually learn and find inspirations that were less forthcoming when she was in the kitchen much of the time. The extra days off afford her time to attend to other aspects of the business and pursue social media outlets to keep her clientele updated on the new and seasonal items available. The menu is tempting and diverse. All the ingredients are organic, vegan and GMO free. The ever-popular fresh juices made daily are obvious favourites. There are twelve choices of cold pressed juices and blends with more coming. The eleven Superfood Smoothies are made of organic veggies, fruits and herbs. The nut mylks used are house made and sprouted for added nutritional value. The Smoothies also come as Smoothie Bowls which are smoothies with a choice of four toppings: fruits, raw sprouted nuts, seeds and house granola. Brandy expressed to me that many people are a bit hesitant to eat a lot of fruit because of the sugar content. She wishes people would further appreciate the many health promoting qualities in fruit. The antioxidants and fibre in fruit are a

The Glow Juicery and Raw Food Cafe Over the years, Brandy has been happy to see a wider range of age groups enjoying the all organic, raw food selections available. Young people are becoming more aware of food choices and the health impacts of what they eat. The Glow Juicery has become a lunch time destination for a growing number of high school students as well as the retirement age group and all those in between, all of whom are wisely discerning with their food preferences When she first opened the Glow Juicery and Raw Food Cafe, as with any new business, it meant many long hours in the kitchen preparing juices, smoothies and menu items as well as delectable treats. More recently,

valuable and tasty addition for most people. For a meal choice, there are a variety of salads, soups, noodle bowls, pizza, wraps and bagel sandwiches. Hot meals include the popular Vegan Butter Chicken, Raw Pad Thai and Chickpea Curry. Many delicious desserts are there for an after meal treat. Brandy happily shared that they have keto friendly choices for meals and snacks. When asked about the present demand for celery juice, Brandy laughed and said that they stock lots of celery as the popularity of this cleansing and healing juice is sweeping the country. Many people are turning to juices and nutritious fare when dealing with health issues. The awareness of healthy real food....as opposed to “food like products” as Brandy refers to much of what is available on grocery shelves, is becoming more mainstream in the treatment programs people are opting for. She sees people coming in that are learning to negotiate the world of healthy food and she is more than happy to help those who wish to learn and experiment with a new food lifestyle. Alkalizing the body while maxing the nutrient value is instrumental in reducing inflammatory conditions that

are rampant these days. The body in its wisdom is always trying to quench inflammation and heal. We just need to give it the tools to repair itself. Brandy and her Glow Juicery and Raw Food Cafe provide not only the nourishment from the tasty food, but do so in the nurturing environment the cafe provides. Food is information for our bodies and the more wholesome the food, the healthier we can become. In these challenging times, choose wisely for yourself and your family.

he megalithic structures built by ancient civilizations continue to baffle and confuse humanity to this very day. Despite our ‘superior modern technology,’ we still can’t figure out how the Great Pyramids, Angkor Wat, Stonehenge, or many of the other great architectural works were constructed. We are told that these monolithic marvels of architecture were built by slaves and primitives. Hundreds of temples - built with such intricacy that we cannot reproduce their detail, and with such structural integrity that they still stand intact thousands of years later - were supposedly crafted with copper tools and chisels. Many of us are now aware that the mainstream archaeological story is littered with gaping holes. Scientists, archaeologists, and anthropologists around the world are affirming that these megalithic structures were probably built by an ancient society possessing complex technology and deep understanding of architecture. The issue is no longer whether or not the ancient builders had access to advanced technology - it is a matter of what that technology was, and how it was utilized. Today, I am proposing that two of the technologies the Ancients had mastered were similar to two technologies that we are becoming familiar with in the modern day: levitation and acoustic engineering. There is plenty of evidence to support this.

The Ancients Understood Sound Before we jump in too deep, one thing must be made clear: the Ancients all across the globe had a fantastic and mind-boggling understanding of sound. The Musical Pillars of India are a fantastic example of this. The Pillars are a series of hollowed-out stone columns, built directly into the foundation of a temple. Each pillar is attuned to a musical note - despite the fact that each pillar is the same size and made of the same material. This makes no sense, given our current technological understanding of sound. Materials of the same shape and size should make the same noise. The material’s properties determine the frequency at which it vibrates when struck, which in turn creates the resulting sound. Somehow, the builders of this temple were able to adjust the properties of the stone itself so that it would produce a certain sound.

Cymatic Imprinting in Ancient Structures Cymatics is the study of vibration and wave frequency. Modern science recognizes that sound can be utilized to shape, form, destroy, and move materials. It would seem that the ancients were keenly aware of this. Cymatic patterns - complex, artistic and symmetrical patterns - emerge when sound is pumped at a certain frequency through a surface. Many of the patterns produced through modern cymatic experiments are strikingly similar to patterns found inscribed on the walls of many Indian temples. These inscriptions, referred to as cymagraphs, suggest some deep relationship that the architects of these temples shared with sound and vibration. The image below compares the inscription on a temple in Page 15

India to the cymagraph produced from the

Egyptians Utilized Sound in Ritual and Construction It’s not just Indian architects that may have used acoustic engineering in their projects - the Egyptians may have utilized audio engineering not only to move the stones of the Pyramids but to inscribe many of the hieroglyphs that are still visible today. The Egyptians had a great fascination and respect for sound. Ancient literature from Egypt, including the Egyptian Book of the Dead, report that Egyptian rituals focused on using vocal projection and ambient amplification to enlist aid from the spiritual realm. The Great Pyramid was often utilized during these ceremonies because it was built to display baffling acoustic properties, allowing for powerful projection, amplification, and even manipulation of sound. John Stuart Reed conducted an experiment within the Great Pyramid itself. The writer and archaeologist recorded the cymatic shapes of sound produced within the pyramid’s sarcophagus, an acousticallycharged area. The resulting images, in some cases, were similar to some of the most easily recognized Egyptian hieroglyphs. A report from 1997, submitted by an anonymous user to KeelyNet, told of how their curious compadre had picked a lock in an Egyptian museum storeroom to see what was being withheld from the public eye. Inside, she was off-put by a discovery that made little sense. Instead of finding gold and treasures, she found “hundreds” of what she described as “tuning forks,” ranging from “approx. 8 inches… to 8-9 feet overall length.” She also reported “a taut wire stretched between the forks.” The author of the above report wondered “if these devices might have had hardened tool-bits attached,” and if “they were used for cutting or engraving stone.” It was not until recently that this peculiarity began to make sense. In the years since, we have learned you can take a metal rod with an image or shape fixed onto one end and etch images into solid stone by using sound. By pumping a certain frequency through the rod, one can effectively ‘project’

Magnetic Levitation & Acoustic Engineering tuning forks to be found in Egyptian hieroglyphs. The image below seems to picture two tuning forks connected by some sort of thread. The left one is connected at two nodes of vibration and the right at three, suggesting a 2:3 ratio of vibration - what we refer to today as a “perfect fifth” interval - a measurement only understood now that we have developed a significant understanding of musical and acoustic theory.

Acoustic and Magnetic Levitation Yoshili Hashimoto of Tokyo’s Kaijo Corporation proved that a machine producing sound frequencies at a rate of 20,000 oscillations per second (20,000 hz) could suspend a piece of silicon in the air. This means that an object can be acoustically charged in a way that allows it to defy our current understanding of gravity. This fact gives credence to the idea that the ancients used levitation - especially when the following evidence is taken into consideration. Beneath the tuning forks in the image above are two hieroglyphs, one that looks like a flower and below that, some sort of bowl or rounded hollow. Large, hollow bowls like this have been found throughout Egypt, particularly in the vicinity of the Great Pyramid, and in other areas where acoustic engineering is suspected to have taken place. These bowls are made primarily of quartz crystal, and possess piezoelectric properties: when pressure is applied, they can generate an electric charge. The bowls all have the same physical dimensions and properties, which suggests they were manufactured to fulfill a certain function. Now consider the following: Dr. Jacob Davidovits proved that the blocks used to build the Great Pyramid itself are not natural limestone. Instead, they are synthetic mixture of opal CT, hydroxy-apatite, and silico-aluminates - a casting which allows for the blocks to have an interesting property: they can effectively convert acoustic energy in the atmosphere into an electric current. This current is stored in the piezoelectric crystals of the Pyramid’s bricks.

The unique ability of the pyramids to concentrate and amplify acoustic waves is a process we now refer to as mechanical flexing. Mechanical flexing generates standing waves in the lattice of the crystals, generating a powerful EM field which is capable of levitating an object despite its mass. This field can still be measured around the pyramid itself. In short: The Great Pyramid possesses all of the same properties that modern science agrees could create levitation. And it wasn’t just the Egyptians who had this figured out. Large bowls or circular hollows have been involved in at least two other examples of incredible acoustic engineering. The Lost Technique, a book written by Swedish engineer Henry Kjellson, tells of his colleague Dr. Jarl’s experience in Tibet. In Tibet, Dr. Jarl witnessed a spectacle in which Buddhist monks gathered around a large boulder situated in a smooth stone bowl, about 1.5 meters in diameter. By directing the sound of large horns and drums at the boulder, as seen in Dr. Jarl’s sketch below, they were able to levitate the boulder and move it up a mountain. A third example comes from the mysterious construction of the Coral Castle, a structure shrouded in mystery. The Castle was built in Florida using 1,100 tonnes of rock that were moved single-handedly by Latvian-American Edward Leedskalnin. Large bowl-shaped stone recesses - these ones including magnetic spokes can be found around the site. The entire castle was constructed in silence and only during the night: neighbours reported that they never heard power tools nor saw any construction equipment involved in the Castle’s construction. The eccentric architect did not divulge his secrets, but he claimed that he had discovered knowledge which the Egyptians had used to construct the pyramids.

Is it possible that all these seemingly unconnected similarities are a coincidence? Or is it possible that the ancient builders possessed some fantastic knowledge regarding the use of sound and vibration? Whatever the case, it seems that many modern archaeological and scientific minds find it easier to cling to the established history than to acknowledge the possibility that our ancestors had knowledge that we’ve since forgotten. However, as the evidence amounts, it becomes harder and harder to deny that these ancient builders utilized some incredible technology. ho am I? That’s a question we have all probably asked ourselves on more than one occasion in the course of our lives. But maybe you would agree that somehow most of the answers never quite seem to resolve this great mystery. Growing-up in a Christian protestant family, I was taken to the village church on a regular basis, for the Sunday service. While sitting in the wooden pews, I stared up at the altar, covered by a white linen sheet and with a golden cross standing at its centre. My eyes would then gravitate further upwards and would fall upon the forlorn figure of Jesus Christ roped and nailed to the crucifixion pole. There was certainly a sense of mystery invoked, but it all seemed rather sad to my young eyes, as did the congregation; and so, my mind soon drifted-off to what might be for lunch and which tree I might climb in the afternoon. As well as reading the psalms and announcing the hymns, the vicar always gave a sermon from the rather beautiful pulpit. I never really grasped what it was he was trying to communicate. Somehow it lacked emotional content and had a solemn tone which I found difficult to relate to, but assumed the ‘adults’ probably knew all about, since they always looked very concerned during these addresses. Then, on one particular Sunday, the vicar read a short treatise from his ‘prayers for the day’ sheet which startled me out of my wandering inner meditations. What he said was this “Let us seek forgiveness in the eyes of the Lord, for we are poor and miserable sinners.” There was more – but you get the picture. Well, it gave me quite a jolt. We were all on our knees, and I remember looking up and seeing the dutiful and accepting expression on my mother’s face, as the vicar went on to ask the congregation to repeat after him “Oh God the father of heaven, have mercy upon us miserable sinners.” I’m not sure how old I was, about seven I

think, but I refused to repeat these words. Instead I said to myself “I am not a sinner – nor am I miserable” just a bit bored by this strange and overly long service. This secret rebellion, I never discussed with my parents. I kept it hidden; something in me told me to keep it safe for a later time in my life. And I did. However, it revisited me on a number of occasions as I struggled to survive the harsh impositions of the British private school system, that worked at moulding us into hard-headed, unsentimental leaders of what was left of the old Empire. So why is the message behind this phrase so significant to me – and surely to all others who have resisted slavery to the dogmas of the Judeo-Christian religions? It is because, actually, we are not, nor ever were ‘sinners’. And if we look deeply inside ourselves, we know this. We know that this is a lie, a falsity of very great proportions. One which has polluted and broken so many beautiful young sparks of creativity and tarnished so many pure young imaginations. When we cease looking to authority figures to tell us who we are and what we should do, we perform our first true act of emancipation. Emancipation from slavery to a system that feeds off our weaknesses and is further empowered by our passivity and obedience. The closely related belief - at the centre of much of the teachings of the Christian Church – that we must ‘suffer in order to be saved’ – surely ranks amongst the cruellest impositions of vindictive dogma that this world has experienced. A vast plethora of human anxieties, psychotic hang-ups and psychological sicknesses stem from the fact that, even if we do not consciously concern ourselves with it, the predilection for being ‘less than we really are’ that goes hand in hand with this edict, has been played-out in our subconscious minds, and has been responsible for cramping the flowering of our natural creativity for at least the last two thousand years. It explains the reason why, even today, the majority of human beings still readily accept

slavery to the authoritarian edicts of the day, rather than breaking free and standing face to face with the world. But it is precisely when one does break free and stand face to face with the world, that one discovers who one actually is! It is this act of bravery, often performed in spite of an under-text of doubts, which really reveals what we are made of. And it turns out that what we are made of bares an extraordinary likeness with that which gave birth to the entirety of Creation itself! Gone, in an instant, is any suggestion of the hesitance and timidity that held us back and filled our mind with irrational fear. That great step, whereby one puts one’s self face to face with the full reality of existence, provides the illusive key to ‘knowing one’s self’ and catalyses the remarkable further recognition that ‘one’s self’ is a mirror of the Divine Self. That essence from which we – and all life – springs. Now we can step boldly forward, knowing we are illuminated by the radiant spirit of creative genius whose powers are limitless and whose love is boundless. Compare this to the death trap set for us by the priests of darkness, those who indoctrinated us to believe we were ‘sinners’ and ‘must be obeyed’ if one was to avoid an

extended prison sentence in the burning underworld. Oh Lord! Yes, my friends, we do know who we are - and who we aren’t! And we do know where we are - and where we are going. We know all this, because through this act of bravery we discovered our oneness with the Source of all life. And where that Source is going – so we too are going. And where we are going, so too is that Source going. Source, the embodiment of all there is, at all times, everywhere. Each of us - a microcosm of this place of infinite potential. There is only one proviso: that we strive to make manifest this latent potential with which we have been imbued. For it is - in potential - as I have described it, but only takes on tangible, active expression, when each of us individually commits to exerting ourselves to make it manifest. To make it manifest where it is so much needed - within the affairs of this war-torn world. That is our specifically human prerogative. To strive to do this, and to make it the central purpose of everyday of our lives, is the path of the true spiritual warrior. On the absolute authenticity of this great bid for victory, hangs the future of our planet – and no doubt the greater cosmos beyond. Imagination Unleashed

By Zy Marquiez

magination is an intriguing idea that has resounding implications which rarely get to see the light of day. In our youth, imagination was the journey we all engaged in every day. In those days there was no mountain too high, no catacomb too dark, no obstacle to impervious to be overcome because we knew at that time that nothing could stop us. But then we ‘grew up’. We were told that imagination, like a paper airplane, was a child’s plaything. It’s something “only kids” employ. Adults? They don’t need imagination; ‘let’s talk about reality please,’ or, ‘let’s be real’ soon follows. Imagination is in the past; it’s not needed now. Such is the brainwashing that we were lathered on with, and it’s worked in spades. This type of mind control puts the subject of imagination beyond the scope of everyday chatter. The stifling of imagination has dampened individual consciousness and creativity and it’s quite regrettable. One glaring example of this can be seen in the fact that although everyone living today has more information than ever before, many still need help with certain circumstances that others knew how to deal with decades, if not centuries ago or more. Those individuals can’t imagine solutions, even though (1) information now and solutions are magnitudes greater, (2) imagination is limitless, and what can stem from that is just as so, and finally, (3) the past often offers templates for solutions if the issues have already been tackled in times immemorial. People can’t imagine solutions like others could in the past because they’re living within a box, instead of living without the box. Imagination is shackled through and

Purpose From page 9

around the pursuit of excellence, many flee from this way of life by resorting to two main excuses. The first excuse is based on the belief that we are insignificant creatures in a universe deaf to our desires, and so the point of life should be to enjoy the ride, not to burden ourselves with the task of achieving anything of lasting worth. But this ignores the fact that every one of us possesses an innate urge to growth, and that if we refuse to heed this calling, we become self-destructive, and prone to sicknesses of the mind. Or as the psychologist James Hillman wrote: “Present in body and absent in spirit, he lies back on the couch, shamed by his own… potentials in his soul that will not be subdued. He feels himself inwardly subversive, imagining in his passivity extremes of aggression and desire that must be suppressed. Solution: more work, more money, more drink, more weight, more things, more infotainment.” ~ James Hillman, The Soul’s Code Some of us, on the other hand, Page 17

through. Having droves more knowledge than any civilizations past, in conjunction with the employment of endless imagination and creativity, we should be the most selfsufficient generation of them all. And yet, the opposite is the case. The more technology grows and evolves, the less and less we know how to employ creativity and thus, the less imaginative we become. Hearkening back to our youth, imagination played a vital role in how we viewed reality. Obstacles? Those didn’t exist. Obstacles were merely opportunities for growth. Obstacles, like storms, help you realize what you’re made of, and once those circumstances have been conquered, individuals feel like they can take on the world. That is because there are no limits to imagination. Implication: there are no limits to the amount of solutions you could envision. A great aspect of imagination is its malleability, even though imagination is in fact shapeless. Like water, imagination molds into whatever shape it sees fit and even transmutes itself into something more, something greater, but only when unleashed.

recognize the importance of turning pro, yet we continually delay in taking action. We tell ourselves we will turn pro when we “find our self”, or when we have overcome our depression, anxiety, or addictions. Yet if Pressfield’s theory has merit, this evasive tactic is again, built on a psychological error. For turning pro is not something we do once we have cured our problems or found out who we are, rather, turning pro is the cure – it is the means by which we become who we are. “What we get when we turn pro is, we find our power. We find our will and our voice and we find our self-respect. We become who we always were but had, until then, been afraid to embrace and to live out.” ~Steven Pressfield, Turning Pro If we decide to turn pro, it is crucial we do so for the right reasons. For while turning pro will increase our chances of attaining riches, social status, and perhaps even fame, if we turn pro solely in order to obtain these goods, we may sabotage our efforts. Our energy, if too fixated on worldly success, will cause our work to suffer. And if these rewards do not come quick enough, as they seldom do, it is unlikely we will want to continue making

Imagination is non-linear. It may venture in any direction it sees fit, and goes even beyond the beyond. There is no path imagination won’t take, there’s no venture it won’t embark upon. Imagination is the road that never ends, offering solutions at every turn. But without action, imagination, like a starship without a warp drive, remains stagnant. Explorations must cease until adjustments are made – until imagination is employed. On the opposite side of the spectrum, what happens with individuals that use imagination? These individuals create. Moreover, they solve, they conquer; ultimately, they grow. These individuals create, create often, and endlessly. Paintings, poetry, dances, prose, technologies, solutions and MUCH more, are all created by those limitless and imaginative individual minds that chose to employ this tool. Imagination is so important that Einstein once said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” [Bold Emphasis added] Nikola Tesla ultimately said this of imagination: “Our first endeavors are purely instinctive prompting of an imagination vivid

the necessary sacrifices required to attain excellence in our field. We will not, in other words, become pro unless we can place our desire for money or status behind our ambition to nourish our skills and potentials. But if we can find the inner-drive to commit ourselves to this uncommon way of life, we will discover that over time the psychological rewards we obtain far outweigh any form of worldly success. For as we strive towards the heights of personal greatness our psychological problems will no longer affect us as they once did. They will have been neutralized by a sense of inner peace and accomplishment sorely lacking in the lives of most. Or as the Daoist Sage Lao-Tzu advised: “Chase after money and security, And your heart will never unclench. Care about people’s approval, And you will be their prisoner. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.” ~Lao-Tzu, Tao Te Ching This article is a transcript of this video: https://youtu.be/ XVAXMR2L6n8

and undisciplined. As we grow older reason asserts itself and we become more and more systematic and designing. But those early impulses, though not immediately productive, are of the greatest moment and may shape our very destinies. Indeed, I feel now that had I understood and cultivated instead of suppressing them, I would have added substantial value to my bequest to the world. But not until I had attained manhood did I realize that I was an inventor.” [Bold Emphasis added] Imagination is there for individuals to use at will. If individuals so choose, it will push them; it will drive them. It will free them from the shackles of normality and help erase the imaginary boundaries [dictated by society] that have been hampering their progress and mental state. And just like the countless individuals that achieve their dreams even though they were told it would be “impossible”, imagination manifests impossible dreams, because it can; it has; and it always will. Imagination will not be stopped, because it cannot be stopped. Once the box doesn’t exist, the individual is free. Free to experience or create anything they want, solve anything the need, and ruminate upon the wondrous ceaselessly. Then, the next chapter begins. ________________________________ If you find value in this information, feel free to share it. This article is free and open source. Could The Ancient Egyptians Have Possessed An Owner’s Manual For The Human Mind? By Vanese Mcneill

agical Egypt Series Two attempts a forensic reconstruction of the Science of the Ancients through a study of Ancient Aesthetics. As part of this investigation the Magical Egypt research team discovered a hidden message that speaks in a language familiar to artists and esotericists. A language that is capable of transmitting a bewildering variety of highly technical schematics and symbols. One of the central ideas that have emerged from this research is the concept or symbol of the union of opposite polarities abridged by biological architecture was to produce an offspring that is the emergent quite overtly expressed by the symbolic or property of the synergy of the two polarities. didactic architecture of the temples. It is non-linear, uses webs of association, speaks in symbols and geometric relationships, rather than linear language. It is responsible for the recognition of beauty and meaningfulness, and appreciation of the “big picture”. It is the centre that produces ideas or images from nothing, the creative spark. The right brain is a notorious disregarder of rules. It has no regard for time, and its awareness is only of the eternal NOW. While the left hemisphere is concerned with accumulating facts and sorting them in hierarchical order, the right brain is the domain of associations and context - of meaningfulness. “It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain an idea without endorsing it.” – Aristotle By James True www.jtrue.com

This is a chapter from my new book, The Technology of Belief.

A

theism is the cancer of thought. The Big Bang was the invention of atheism. It’s the runaway brain devoid of deep breathing and guts. Atheism is a swollen head in a jar. Faith is the function of intestine and lung. Our lungs collapse on the faith they may return. Guts shoot for the threepoint shot from half-court as the final seconds dissolve. As the bumpy orange ball spins through space at a metal ring, the receptors in the brains of both teams are hanging on the outcome. Half of the player will be rewarded with dopamine; the other half will be placed under its restriction. The memory of this game will forever pay the victors a bump. There is no such thing as the mind control of thoughts. Mind control is the cessation of chemical lollipops. We are all suckers. We’ve been rewarded for regurgitation from the time we were young. In a classroom, with a globe, we repeat the fantasy as fast as we can. The pop quiz is Pavlovian. Our mouth waters at the rank of letters augmented with a plus or minus. F is for failure. A is for Applause. We gain victory in school, not wisdom. That’s why every question on a test has one of four answers. Like rats choosing water over cocaine, the natural mind will eventually find the truth. Flat Earth is a pose of seeking in your dojo. I am not here to tell you the shape of your world. What happens to the spirit when it hangs on words? NASA’s words dangle us from cliffs as asteroids careen through space to kill us. Flat earth is a stance of protection. It’s a technique to attack dissonance and lies. Flat earthers know most of what they’ve been taught by compulsory education was a lie. Propaganda is a trance installed by school bells and rectangular pizza. A good defense is never a distraction. Flat earth cuts through lies like a plasma

his father Osiris. When Horus is triumphant, the emergent property is enabled. Research is ongoing, and it is yet to be determined how detailed and how far the correspondences go but from this organised study of correspondences within the ancient art, Chance Gardner, Gary Osborn, and Brad Klausen found ample evidence to demonstrate the existence of a previously unrecognised

Flat Earth Karate cutter. Some may call me insightful. This is a new phenomenon. I adjusted my stance in the dojo when I tired from punches in the gut. Globe earth is globalism, special relativity, godless vacuum, and NASA. All globe earth has in its corner is ridicule and majority. “It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain an idea without endorsing it.” – Aristotle Flat earth is an antibiotic. It creeps into your system and obliterates all bacteria – good or bad. You are left with nothing to lean on except your direct experience. Flat earth is difficult. You have to rebuild your world from scratch and burn calories to keep it alive. You are surrounded by people who want you to quit. Your stance makes their own feel uncomfortable. Practice flat earth like a posture. Fill your cup from the inside rather than the outside. No one can tell you the earth is flat. Globalism is too powerful. It requires something even more powerful to defeat science coded into the art and architecture of the ancient world, albeit one with a very different focus than ours today. In 1979, harkening back to the classical opinion of Ancient Egypt, John Anthony West concluded that the whole of Egyptian civilisation was based upon a complete and precise understanding of universal laws, and this profound understanding manifested itself in a consistent, coherent and interrelated system that fused science, art and religion into a single organic unity. Now Gardner, Osborn, and Klausen corroborate and expand

it. That power is the core of who you are. Globalism is a lie. You are the only real thing you know. It’s impossible to believe in evolution when you stand on a flat earth. Your feet are on the solid ground of an electric universe. You are the completion of a circuit. You are the antithesis of a cosmic accident. You are not a scum’s fornication. You are the divine spark. Flat earth places the assemblage point back inside the body. The assemblage point is one’s center of awareness. We approach the world from a point like a needle on a record. Globalism keeps your needle high above the aluminum clouds. Under globalism, nothing in this place is on purpose. With globalism, we are the dead dinosaurs of the future and the earth is lucky to survive our cancer. Globalism is the hatred of self and God. That’s why globalists fight flat earth West’s research by demonstrating that the art, statuary and architecture, and in fact the entire cultural aesthetic of the ancient Egyptians was in service of transmitting a scientific message. One that employs an ingenious visual language of correspondence as a method of “schematizing” both the biological systems that result in the experience of consciousness, and perhaps even more astonishingly, the architecture of consciousness itself. Since at the current time, modern science cannot arrive at a consensus about what human consciousness even is, the discovery of this

with ridicule. Globalists are lonely inside their bodies. They need the comforting drones of other’s opinions to fill the gap where a needle once stood. Globalism is a welcome to the machine. Slavery was rampant in Rome. It was a way of life. Slavery is training wheels for the sovereignty of thought. As man evolves, he sheds the desire to be controlled by a master. Slavery comes naturally to all of us. It’s how we learn to walk. The purpose of life is the transmutation of slave to sovereign. This is why we are born so dependent. We are skin, bones, and the resolution of spirit in time. Even today, many prefer the slavery of the mind. Slavery is a childhood for grown-ups. No one will be rewarded for flat earth. The ups and downs add up to a net loss. We are trapped on insanity island waiting for the plane to tell the boss. Flat earth changes that. The belly turns to rock from the ridicule and training. The gut grows an armor thicker than thieves who try to steal it. Flat earth is you, alone on a mountain, peering over the curve that never was. Curiously, and of special interest to artists, the purest most concise form of expression of some of the deepest structural mysteries of the universe involve the sacred geometry that is everywhere expressed in the physical world and as Freemasonry reminds us, also play a centrally important role on the higher registers of mind and in creating ever more refined states of consciousness.

that sex is a sin (evil), but his opinion would be unfounded since universal law dictates that sex is a healthy function of a human animal. Health trumps cultural opinion, across the board. Whether it’s sex (healthy) or cigarettes (unhealthy) cultural opinion is irrelevant under the almighty dictation of universal law. Let’s say for example, murder (unhealthy) is evil (opinion). But even still, the two-sided unhealthiness of murder trumps the two-faced middleman of cultural opinion. So, you might as well just bypass the notion of evil altogether and get to the point: that someone is dead (unhealthy) by the hand of someone else (culturally unhealthy and threatening the survival of other people.) The opinion that murder is evil is irrelevant compared to the dictation that murder is unhealthy both for the murdered person and for the other people in the vicinity of a murderer. Again, healthy/unhealthy trumps good/ evil. One can imagine a series of scenarios and almost always, they can be resolved by bypassing the muddying middleman of opinionated, good/evil and focusing instead on the dictation of healthy/unhealthy.

hat we call Reality is a hall of mirrors. It reflects itself back and forth and builds up a

consensus. People do the same thing. They confirm with one another that the reality they believe is real is, in fact, real. And having established that, they live out their lives and make the best of it. But what happens if you defect? What happens if you’re not satisfied to live out the rest of your life inside the space of what everyone assumes is real? More to the point, what happens if you’re not satisfied to live out the rest of your life inside the space of what YOU assume is real? This is where a lot of people get off the train. They assert, with great assurance, that what they have discovered is the ultimate frontier. They’ve broken through the illusion. They’ve found out who is running the show from behind the curtain. And with those discoveries in their pocket, they will live out their lives, confident in the knowledge that they can’t be fooled. They’ve won the prize. Actually, peering behind the curtain and seeing what’s there is step one. The journey has barely begun. No matter what degree of truth one has found, living out the rest of a life in that truth is going to be disappointing. It’s eventually going to be boring. It’s eventually going to be insufferable.

Page 21

The Concept of Moderation: “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily.” – William of Ockham Inevitably such ponderings will lead to the concept of moderation. This is where things get a little more complicated. This is because moderation works on a sliding scale. It’s situational. It’s applied differently, and in

“The problem with the concept of good and evil is that it muddies the waters of health by forcing the unnecessary middleman of culture’s opinion into the mix.” varying degrees, depending upon the particular scenario. For example: the moderation one would apply to the consumption of water is considerably different to that applied to alcohol, but both degrees of moderation are dictated by universal law, although applied differently to different people depending upon weight and body type. The consumption of alcohol is neither unhealthy nor evil, but it can become unhealthy if consumed beyond the dictated scale of moderation. Once again, the concept of evil is an irrelevant, outdated and parochial abstraction. The sliding scale of moderation can be applied to all things, and when we use the concept of healthy and unhealthy to guide

us, we leave the concept of good and evil on the parochial woodpile of outdated nonsense where it belongs. Moderation and the concept of healthy/unhealthy is all we need to evolve in a progressive way. Too much of anything can be unhealthy. Even too much water can kill you. Although it takes much more water to kill you than alcohol, you can moderate alcohol and still remain healthy. Unlike certain things like crack cocaine: the sliding scale on this drug is so unhealthy even a “moderate” amount could kill you. And even if someone’s opinion was that crack cocaine is healthy, their opinion would be invalid according to the universal law of health and moderation, just as the opinion of a priest who believes alcohol or coffee is evil would be invalid according to the same law. Validity of opinion is not based upon the tyranny of culture, no matter how many people believe it; it is based upon the dictates of health, no matter how many people don’t believe it. Universal law cares not about human inconvenience. And no matter how convenient it is to brainwash each other through the indoctrination of outdated notions of good and evil, it will stand that the concept of healthy and unhealthy makes notions of good and evil irrelevant. We might as well cut out the middleman - get rid of parochial good and evil and get better at using updated ‘healthy and unhealthy’ with the sliding scale of moderation to determine

Why the Army of Reality Always Needs more Soldiers

You want to lift that curtain, and you should. You should find out everything you can about who and what is behind it, and how they operate. But how long before you stop patting yourself on the back? How long before you decide to create, with great passion and commitment, your own reality, the one you profoundly desire? The process of creating reality never ends. It’s the ongoing voyage. It’s the reason things become new. It’s the reason boredom loses. It’s the reason you have no end. It’s the reason you can’t be stopped. It’s the means by which you don’t decline. It’s the means by which you keep imagining something you haven’t imagined before. It’s the reason you don’t “live out your life.” It’s the reason “living out your life”

seems about the worst thing you can do. No excuses will suffice to rationalize staying in one place. No complaints will make you feel better. No “ultimate” space or time is good enough, as it is, to convince you that you should just play out the string inside it. We are witnessing tech giants--Google, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter--hiding and de-listing news they deem “fake.” On one level, this is an obvious attempt to control political content. But on a much deeper level, this is an effort to shore up THEIR REALITY. They want to consolidate their Army of believers and expand its ranks. Outsiders and their ideas and analyses are a threat. Outsiders, heaven forbid, might decide to launch other creative realities that bleed into the consensus and dissolve it. The independent and free individual mind has its own immune system. It responds when it detects the intrusion of collectivist concoctions. “Alert! Fake collective reality is

right and wrong. Indeed, the quicker path to Truth is not the pot-hole-riddled, muddy-watered, zig-zagging path of dogmatic good and evil which falls short of aligning itself with the way the universe actually works (invalid), but the open-ended, clear watered, bridge of updated consideration of healthy and unhealthy which falls into sacred alignment with the way the universe actually works (valid). See also Nietzsche’s concept of Perspectivism. At the end of the day, the escape from good and evil is the adoption and practice of recognizing what is healthy and unhealthy while using moderation to navigate your way through the uncertainty and insecurity of being a fallible and mortal species. showing up. Take action. Resist. Reject.” Yes, but then? The individual then has the power to invent his own future, according to his own vision. This is where the journey really gets interesting. This is where new space and new time emerge, and the space of consensus shrinks and withers. This is where the Army of Reality has no answer. Each individual has his own invention of reality --- a project and an enterprise that spills over the conventional boundaries. Each enterprise is quite different. Each approach is quite different. What’s similar is the available energy for the work. Where does that energy come from? It comes from the individual himself. When imagination and the creative impulse are unleashed, energy appears in large quantities. New and fresh energy. Frontier energy. Cutting-edge energy that quite naturally and automatically begins to shred Army of Reality energy. Life renews. Life begins again. The fabric of old limiting ideas falls apart, and the individual steps out on to a unique launching platform. His own. This is the voyage that can never be stopped. Atomic Healing

s chronic illness, physical and psychological, affect the lives of an increasing many, it seems imperative that we understand effective methods of healing. Medicine is a very complicated field, particularly psychological medicine, and like most mainstream fields at this time, it is overcrowded with half-baked solutions that tend to do more harm than good. It doesn’t take a doctor to notice the patterns of ineffective medical practices or the dangers of bad incentives in the pharmaceutical industry. It merely takes the common experience of having to go to a doctor, being overcharged, and often being unsatisfied with the service and overall results of the medical industry. Due to the bureaucratic processes of medicine, the United States is years if not decades behind in equipment, internal medicine, and research. While in some cases it may be the individual physician that is the issue, more often than not it is the way they were taught and the institutional system they have to conform to so they can legally practice medicine. It would appear that sick people are being treated by even sicker people. Nonetheless, there is a lot of new medical research and techniques coming to the surface that we should be aware of. One of the most important discoveries of the healing arts is the connection between mind and body. In this article I wish to describe how repressed emotions are observed as a fundamental cause of chronic illness physically in quantum physics, cognitively in psychotherapy, and intuitively in spirituality. Furthermore, I would like to point towards potential cures and a case for self-healing.

Quantum Physics: Healing is Voltage

A recent discovery made by Dr. Jerry Tennant has been a game changer for the way we understand chronic illness in the body. On an atomic level, he has observed the electrical nature of the body and how magnetic fields caused by emotion can influence health and chronic illness. The summarized version of this complex phenomena is this: the body is like an electronic in the sense that it has a certain level of voltage it needs for cells to function properly. In fact, pH (potential hydrogen) is actually the measurement of voltage. Cells in our bodies have a certain range of pH levels to be able to create new cells that work and heal infection. The conclusion so far is that chronic disease is defined as having low voltage in the body, which is associated with acidic pH levels. He has observed that no matter how much medication or surgery you have, you won’t cure chronic disease unless there is a voltage of -50mV, the raw materials to make new healthy cells, and the ability to eliminate the toxins or infections present that will damage the new cells. While there are multiple causes for what can throw off voltage levels of the body, Dr. Tennant and his colleagues at Electric Universe have discovered that emotions have a magnetic field about them that, when not properly dealt with, are stored in and around the body. These magnetic fields have biochemical effects and can lower cellular voltages, ultimately weakening the cells and leading to chronic illness or the inability to fight off illness. It is in this way we see the physical evidence that repressed emotions can short the natural circuits in our bodies.

Page 23

Healing is Voltage How repressed emotions influence our health through observations in quantum physics, psychology, and spirituality Dr. Tennant has used this kind of energy medicine and technology to treat his own chronic illness as well as many patients. He has developed devices that use scalar and magnetic energy that can be used to clear the emotional magnetic fields and leave behind only the memories which will not disrupt physiological health. This line of research is seeing lots of expansion and development and if the reader is interested in learning more I will leave links below for further research. The amazing breakthrough of physiological healing on subatomic level leads me to the psychological point of healing, which in a more abstract way, has found similar effects of repressed emotion ever since the discovery of the unconscious mind.

Psychology: Healing is Self-Discovery

As a self-proclaimed Jungian analysis, I could drone on for hours about the role the unconscious plays in our whole experience of reality, let alone in illness and health. Studying the unconscious leads to an understanding that it has its own agenda and the more we are naive to our unconscious, the more we are susceptible to it in a manner we lack conscious understanding of. This is one of the reasons self-discovery is so important for any individual who wishes to get out of their own way. Psychotherapy specifically has shown us amazing cures to psychological and physical illness through therapy alone. Though abstract and complex, it has demonstrated that neuroses and psychoses have roots in suppressed emotions, thoughts, and memories. Though this sounds simple, it actually creates infinite possibilities, depending on an individual’s psychological makeup, of potential embedded traumas and methods of healing such traumas. In this way, we understand a psychotherapists main job is to be a mediator between his patient’s conscious and unconscious. This parallel between quantum physics and psychotherapy is to observe the importance of finding ways to accept and process traumatic emotion, especially in a time that is very mind-dominated, spiritually disconnected, and emotionally confusing for people of our culture. Every individual has their own conflicts to make conscious, as well as the conditioning of collective culture, and further are programmed to resist facing themselves as they are. However, the facing of inner pain is a meaningful journey that one must accept if they wish to liberate themselves

from illness. In times of deep distress such as facing your own shadows, it is necessary to have a meaningful connection with your existence and the universe around you.

be stricken with some kind of physical or psychological pain we will have to learn to deal with and transform. Though it can and often is the greatest challenge in our lives, it is the most meaningful. At the root, all healing is self-healing. This is why spirituality and myth, in whatever form, is essential for health. For one needs a purpose, a meaning, a connection to themselves and the universe around them to be able to pull this kind of strength out of their core. The dogmatic story of a mechanical universe that is given to us by cultural engineers will not suffice: we must think and feel for ourselves in this time. It is common to mock faith when faith is actually really hard to have and cultivate. The challenge of having faith is what makes it such a powerful fuel for personal evolution.

Culture is Not Your Friend

The modern approach to medicine is backwards, for it handicaps rather than seeking out the root of the problem. Furthermore, the rationalism and materialism of modern science has reached such a peak that people are so disconnected from themselves and their environment that a crippling sense of anxiety and depression are rising, naturally, and this won’t be resolved until people can have the bravery to turn inward and remember who they really are.

Spirituality: Healing is Inner Connection

Naturally, I saved the best and most controversial topic for last, for the western science of quantum physics and psychology are now beginning to point to these medicinal ideas that the mystic esoteric schools of thought have known for thousands of years. Due to the high peak of “rationalism” and materialism in our culture, it seems necessary to draw it out scientifically. And I suppose it is. Nonetheless, credit is due where credit is due. Spirituality and mysticism have known from time immemorial that healing comes from the inside out. For ages, the concept of electromagnetic forces around us have been known in esoteric texts. This force is sometimes known as Chi, Tao, Akasha, and many other names. There is a force recognized as “universal life force energy” or “God-force energy” and ancient practices such as reiki, meditation, yoga, prayer, and acupuncture harness this understanding in practice to energetically heal ourselves. This healing is intuitive, yet not well understood in modern times of dogmatic rationalism and materialism. It is energetic but it is also spiritual, for one must go deep within to understand the illness and create meaning out of it to transform not only to health, but a greater wholeness. Illness was understood much differently by ancient hermetics, who considered healing both an art and a science. Furthermore, illness was in many cases viewed as a rite of passage; to seek your individual cure by creating meaning out of it. While this may sound odd, Dr. Jerry Tennant is a perfect example of this “wounded healer” archetype that was struck with multiple chronic illnesses at once and managed to use this as an opportunity to not only to heal himself, but to make discoveries that would later go on to cure thousands if not millions of people. There is a remarkable strength and meaning in that, and this is something we can all seek to do, for eventually we will all

Conclusion

Chronic illness is a complicated problem for our race, yet solutions abound as new information creates scientific connections with the ancient wisdom of the past. As humans, we have a lot more capacity to heal than we think. We have been fed lots of information that cripples us. To face this epidemic of increasing chronic pain and illness, we must change the way we understand illness and medicine altogether. The strictly rational, materialistic, mainstream approach that has dominated for the past few decades is simply not serving us. Rather than complaining about it, we can look to other branches of healing arts for understanding. Of course, I am not refuting the entire medical industry but merely pointing out its shortcomings are responsible for lots of illnesses and deaths. It is not altogether wrong, merely misguided and loaded with bad incentives. The system is not effective in letting new information come in, nor is culture welcoming to ideas that aren’t part of the status quo despite experiments and observations that say otherwise. It is up to those that seek holistic health and growth to begin to change the course of history in how we not only maintain our health, but also cure illness.
