n ancient understanding of the cosmological universe puts forth that inaudible music calculates the position of the heavenly bodies in our skies. With quintessential harmony, Mars, Neptune, Uranus, and all the other planets are held perfectly in place, with the harmonic ratios of each planet determining how they respond to one another, and how they affect all life on the planet earth, as well as sentient life elsewhere in the galaxy. The ancients understood that cosmic harmony is the state of enlightenment. Disharmony, is when the egoic nature, or false self has not been healed, and conducts the ‘show’ of our lives – the musical, as it were, of you. The symphony of full realization, however, is sweeter than any Beethoven, Mozart or Sibelius ever wrote. Certainly, more amazing than the latest off-Broadway phenom. In fact, God-consciousness is 10 million times more blissful than sexual experience, according to Sage Ramakrishna Paramahansa. The music that soothes the savage beast is no metaphor for some outwardly creature, it is the beast within us that is soothed when our bodies and minds are in harmony. “Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” — Confucius, The Book of Rites Conceptualized as ‘gradations of good’, by the Pythagoreans, we can either evolve to the will of God, the Music of the Spheres, as it was called, or we can devolve into a state of evil or ego, which is really just a cacophony of sound, where the music becomes distorted. Our bodies work just like the planets do. In greater expressions of harmony and beauty we experience health, but in degradation, the cells, tissues, and mitochondria can no longer communicate effectively. The music simply becomes mayhem and disease ensues. In research from scientists at Copenhagen University it was discovered that contrary to conventional scientific wisdom, nerves do not transmit electrical impulses, but musical ones – that is, they use sound to convey messages to the rest of the body. “For us as physicists, this cannot be the explanation,” said Thomas Heimburg, an associate professor at the university’s Niels Bohr Institute. “The physical laws of thermodynamics tell us that electrical impulses must produce heat as they travel along the nerve, but experi-

Page 2

ments find that no such heat is produced.” According to the traditional explanation of molecular biology, an electrical pulse is sent from one end of the nerve to the other with the help of electrically charged salts that pass through ion channels and a membrane made of lipids and proteins that sheathes the nerves. Heimburg and Jackson theorize that sound propagation is a much more likely explanation. Although sound waves usually weaken as they spread out, a medium with the right physical properties could create a special kind of sound pulse or “soliton” that can propagate without spreading or losing strength.[1] Our bodies, like the stars, and planets have their own musical signature.

Susumu Ohno, a geneticist and molecular biologist believed that he found music in our very DNA. He created multiple compositions based on the ‘sound’ of DNA. In his research, Ohno assigned a musical note to each chemical in our DNA sequence and found if he strung these notes together, something miraculous happened. A great intelligence, or harmony was within the structure of our DNA. It was highly intelligent. When he took his findings to other musicians, they realized that echoes of Schubert, Mozart and Bach were in our DNA code. We were quite literally, musical, mathematical codes, just as Pythagoras and other ancient cultures had suggested. This phenomenon gained some attention and Pandora started the “Music Genome Project” which was conceived in late 1999, in an effort to “capture the essence of music at the fundamental level,” but other pioneers preceded this work. One such genius in the DNA-is-music field is David Deamer, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1988 he collaborated with Susan Alexjander, composer and music theorist, on a science/art project to collect

Reductionism

How the Creative Force of Consciousness Shapes our Reality By Bruce Lipton upliftconnect.com

or over four hundred years, Western civilization has chosen science as its source of truths and wisdom about the mysteries of life. Allegorically, we may picture the wisdom of the universe as resembling a large mountain. We scale the mountain as we acquire knowledge. Our drive to reach the top of that mountain is fueled by the notion that with knowledge we may become “masters” of our universe. Conjure the image of the all-knowing guru seated atop the mountain. Scientists are professional seekers, forging the path up the “mountain of knowledge.” Their search takes them into the uncharted unknowns of the universe. With each scientific discovery, humanity gains a better foothold in scaling the mountain. Ascension is paved one scientific discovery at a time. Along its path, science occasionally encounters a fork in the road. Do they take the left turn or the right? When confronted with this dilemma, the direction chosen by science is determined by the consensus of scientists interpreting the acquired facts, as they are understood at the time.

Along its path, science occasionally encounters a fork in the road Occasionally, scientists embark in a direction that ultimately leads to an apparent dead end. When that happens, we are faced with two choices: Continue to plod forward with the hope that science will eventually

Embracing the Immaterial Universe discover a way around the impediment, or return to the fork and reconsider the alternate path. Unfortunately, the more science invests in a particular path, the more difficult it is for science to let go of beliefs that keep it on that path. As historian Arnold Toynbee suggested, the cultural-which includes the scientific-mainstream inevitably clings to fixed ideas and rigid patterns in the face of imposing challenges. And yet from among their ranks arise creative minorities that resolve the threatening challenges with more viable responses. Creative minorities are active agents that transform old, outdated philosophical “truths” into new, life-sustaining cultural beliefs.

From Reductionism to Holism

The path that science is currently navigating has inadvertently brought us to our current moment of global crisis. Since the modern scientific revolution, starting with the publication of Copernicus’s observation in 1543, science has perceived the universe as a physical machine operating on the mechanical principles later defined by Newton. In the Newtonian worldview, the universe is defined by its material reality and its operation understood through reductionism – the process of taking matter apart and studying its bits and pieces. Knowledge of the universe’s parts and their interaction would allow science to predict and control nature. This notion of control is contained within determinism-the belief that with knowledge of something’s parts, we can predict its behavior.

The process of taking matter apart and studying its bits and pieces The reductionist approach to understanding the nature of the universe has provided valuable knowledge, enabling us to fly to the moon, transplant artificial hearts, and read the genetic code. However, applying this science to world problems has hastened our apparent demise. It’s a simple fact that society cannot sustain itself by continuing to adhere to its current worldview. So leading-edge research is questioning fundamental assumptions long held as dogma by conventional science. “In contrast to conventional reductionism, the new noetic science is based upon holism, the belief that an understanding of nature and the human experience requires that we transcend the parts to see the whole.” Materialism and reductionism engender the idea that humans are disconnected from, and above, nature. The noetic vision emphasizes that life is derived from an integration and coordination of both the physical and the immaterial parts of the universe. The resolution of our global crisis requires the integration of reductionist and holistic perspectives. This revisioning of conventional science is seeding creative minorities who will rescue us from extinction.

Children studying nature Life is derived from an integration and coordination of both the physical and the immaterial parts of the universe Over the centuries, the accumulated knowledge of scientists has been assembled into a hierarchical construction resembling a

olar Wave is what Simon Haiduk the creator of this month’s cover names his creation. And what a painting! A powerful and appropriate work of Art to grace The New Agora this month. No doubting that this Fire Monkey Year has been just that: filled with potent awakenings and energizing transformations, fiery, flamboyant and foolhardy fun, of that I am certain. We felt it an auspicious moment to grab opportunity by the forelock and see where this mad flaming monkey of a time will take us next. And so we are renewing ourselves within Fall’s bounteous and beautiful bosom, allowing for that which must fall away to do just that, while embracing our own metamorphosis and source of nourishment. Our new logo/masthead and soon to be renewed website are delightful aspects of this change. Birth of a New World is what I feel when enjoying Simon’s painting. Of course many of us are working towards that these days, and it not being a moment too soon either. That we are honored to be here right now with you sharing and participating in this experience is good to remember. But let’s not fool ourselves, let’s see it and call it as we do. From there, that perfect place of honesty, healing and change become manifest. The realization that such must occur for growth to unfold its wisdom in our souls is there for everyone to grasp. Still loads of work, mind you, the cleaning, the honing, the laughing amongst the tears. Trying, demanding, heavens how demanding! Yet, interesting times. I suppose this is what evolution looks and feels like on the seas of human folly. The Social Contract: A vague notion to which no one has explicitly agreed but that supposedly authorizes a certain class of people to steal, imprison, and kill in order to benefit the greater good, however they define it. Not sure who wrote that but it does inspire. In my opinion there’s way too much square insistence on a broken and unnatural dream’s continuance, far too much of that sort flowing through the mainstream, clogging up the flow with detritus of a questionable variety. Let ‘er go folks. That’s a corpse you’re holding onto. Ya gotta let go to let grow. There’s more to this mystery than bills and taxes. We can do and be more than consumers caught in our own consumption. Let’s dream up something new, something grand. Let’s dream of freedom and awaken to make it so! Nothing is beyond us. Well, maybe some things but not that. Look, truly look and see how far we can fall. No hiding it. That sight is everywhere. Surely to fly as high in the other direction is within the realm of our possibilities? Stands to reason. Or at least pushes it around enough to make some room for what can’t fit within reason’s boxed and jarred perception generating system. “The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him was the true founder of civil society. What crimes, wars, murders, what miseries and horrors would the human race have been spared, had some one pulled up

Page 5

the stakes or filled in the ditch and cried out to his fellow men: “Do not listen to this imposter. You are lost if you forget that the fruits of the earth belong to all and the earth to no one!” — Jean-Jacques Rousseau, The Social Contract and The Discourses How does it go again: “History is a lie, Money is a hoax, Debt is a fiction, Media is manipulation, Government is a corporation, the SYSTEM is an illusion.” Covers a lot of the bases. And “if you want to achieve greatness stop asking for permission,” gives good direction. Here’s a devastatingly honest one from Voltaire that puts ‘em all in their place. “ So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.” — Voltaire Ah, so what does one do when surrounded by such folly as that wrought by man? Martin Luther King stated that nothing in the world was more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. We’ve seen it to be true folks, yes indeed. Yikes, don’t feed crazy. But we’re still here. Still doing our best for one another. Our community is an odd one, I admit. Often times it feels that we’re all so incredibly spread out just to cover more space, making up for in heart what we don’t have in numbers, maybe. This last month though I’ve had some great experiences with new people, some terrible one’s too, some at the shows and festivals we’ve attended and some just down the street. The skies have been mad with that crazy pollution known as chemtrails, but my home’s been filled with Orgonite and love. The New Agora continues to attract worthwhile folks and businesses, casting off others better suited elsewhere. And we keep on keeping on, encouraging one another through a tough slog, with humour and patience. Elect To Govern Yourself. We put those words proudly on each one of our covers and wherever we put our name. We do so for a reason. The intent behind it is to effectuate a simple one step

maneuver of consciousness, a shift of awareness if you will, in the reader, the beholder, the beloved. In one simple read, followed by the realizational seeing of an achingly obvious truth, one is invited to quickly embody wisdom itself. What could be more natural and quite frankly more joyful than seizing one’s own destiny? The answer to our problems is to take responsibility for ourselves. Elect to govern yourself, already. One can’t give away one’s responsibilities. Not possible. But be of good cheer: that’s where the fun is. Alternative’s no such thing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you’re not evolving what are you doing? “To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be place under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality.” — General Idea of the Revolution in the Nineteenth Century, translated by John Beverly Robinson (London: Freedom Press, 1923), pp. 293-294.” No thank you. I’m with Freedom. I elect to govern my self and encourage others to do the same for themselves. “They deem me mad because I will not sell my days for gold; and I deem them mad because they think my days have a price.” — Kahlil Gibran.

And so we bloom despite the storms, the torrents, and the furor. Heck we do it in part because of them, the challenges I mean. We bloom and we shine and we dance and love. We sing out our joy because we are alive. We take up our tasks because to do so delights us, in a sense makes us, and returns to the All of Everything that which we are grateful to give of ourselves. There are great times ahead folks, great times all around. And to heck with time anyway, just another artificiality. Time is fluid, just so you know: expands, contracts; it’s in the hands of our attention. Amazing stuff once you start exploring awareness as a medium. We are so much more than what our captors have led us to believe that it frightens them still. Look at the lengths they’ve gone to martial law us into their corner. Luckily the windows are wide open and wonderfully inviting. And what a sweet wind I feel. Were we but to stand in our own mirificence, the worst would seem the passing of a dream; become a cautionary tale. Were we to claim our strength, grow into the fullness of our imagination, we would grow wings and fly free. We would become freedom itself. So let’s get on with making this awesome adventure we’re sharing an experience to be proud of, one worthy of sharing amongst the heroes we asked to come here to become. I know the company I’m in is up to the task. Can you hear it? The music has already started.

Haley’s Comment I felt the shift on August 21st. The air had changed and it blew leaves across the street. I swerved; having gotten use to the dry, clear roads. For me this time of year signals renewal and rejuvenation, a reflection of which resonates through our paper’s cover and new logo. I adore the fall; in fact I always have, being a Fall-Baby myself. I celebrate this time of year, as the beauty of Vancouver Island is sweet to my senses. I revel in the magic that emanates from our environment when I stop to listen, and breathe deeply. I’ve learned in my twenty-three short years that haste offers nothing to the seedling; unmatched is the nourishment offered through affection, allowance, and willful intention. As the womb of the natural world prepares to shed her summer skin, I’ve found that my attention of late has been directed almost exclusively towards the feminine principle. On the 17th and 18th of September, beneath the sponsorship of The New Agora, I’ll be attending The Women’s Health and Fitness Summit in Victoria: an inspiring weekend of lectures, workshop s, performances and more. I’d like to thank our hosts Alice Bracegirdle of Bellyfit, and Melodie Reynolds of Elate Cosmetics for this wonderful opportunity to rejoice in our “sacred feminine energy” together as a community. s the dirty secrets behind Westernized medicine continue to be revealed, more people are turning towards naturopathic and traditional Eastern medicine. Personally, I put high importance on my diet and use essential oils and other natural remedies regularly. However, I wear eyeglasses and have never given any thought to alternative treatments for my near-sightedness. Glasses have the same Band-Aid effect that pharmaceuticals do; they’re a quick fix and don’t solve the underlying problem. We get our eyes tested on a biennial basis and trust our optometrists to administer these tests and our corrective lenses. But I don’t extend the same trust to conventional medicine doctors that I used to, so why shouldn’t I go above and beyond what my optometrist suggests and do a little research of my own? Many people claim to have naturally healed their eyesight through a combination of mental and physical exercises. Greg Marsh, a certified natural vision coach, maintains that perfect vision can be achieved by anyone, even those who wear prescription glasses. Marsh corrected his own eyesight using a technique called the Bates Method.

How the Bates Method actually works:

What is the Bates Method?

Dr. William H. Bates, a certified ophthalmologist, designed his method to naturally correct eyesight over 100 years ago. Norman Doidge, M.D. explains in his book The Brain’s Way of Healing that it was so effective that Bates was forced out of his position at the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and his teachings were banned in New York after optometrists’ lobbied politicians, stating that it threatened their business model. This isn’t surprising, since we have seen this happen numerous times in the healthcare industry (http://www.collectiveevolution.com/2016/05/19/big-pharmas-

Page 6

You have 6 muscles on the outside of your eye and if they strain too much, your vision becomes impaired. A common misconception is that when you squint, your eyesight improves, but this actually increases strain and therefore worsens it. The backbone of the Bates Method rests on faith and meditation; if you’re confident your eyesight will improve and you relax your eyes enough to remove the strain, you can correct your vision. The most popular exercise used in the Bates Method is referred to as “palming,” the act of placing your palms on your eyelids while they’re closed shut. Beforehand, you observe your surroundings, being mindful of the clarity of your vision. Then, you apply your palms to your eyes and allow your entire body to enter into a state of relaxation (you can lay your forehead down if this helps). You use the free flow of energy between your hands and eyelids to send love and relaxation to your eyes. You may also envision your eyes forming a natural, round shape. When you’re ready to open your eyes, you will likely experience clearer vision than you had before the exercise, even if it’s only for a brief moment. Another common exercise is called the Bates Long Swing, whereby you simply sway your body back and forth. This helps to relax the brain and affects your thought patterns, thus having an effect on your eyes as well. This encourages movement and reduces the tendency to stare, ultimately minimizing the strain on your eyes. (source) Lastly, Bates suggested meditating on the colours blue and black, as this mimics the effect complete darkness has on the eyes. Bihar Munger, author of Yogic Management of Common Diseases, explains that closing the eyes and envisioning blue stimulates the third

eye chakra. By opening the third eye you can in turn strengthen your eyesight, as this chakra can help you discover what’s causing your visual impairment in the first place.

How Vitamin A Can Improve Your Eyesight

Another way to naturally correct your vision is by using the Tibetan eye chart. The philosophy behind Tibetan medicine is that all beings are connected to their surrounding environment. It is believed that ailments are caused by a combination of diet and physical health, personal relationships, and climate. The Tibetan eye chart was created by Tibetan Lama monks to strengthen the optic nerves and muscles to correct vision.

Using The Tibetan Eye Chart

n Hang the chart on a wall or place it in front of you with the centre of the chart aligned with your nose. Then, touch the centre spot of the image with your nose. n Without moving your head, allow your eyes to follow along the outer edges of

Over the course of my childhood, my mother would constantly tell me to eat carrots to improve my eyesight. This is a common phrase heard in many households that actually has some truth to it. The body utilizes betacarotene to make vitamin A, which helps our eyes convert light into a signal that’s transmitted to the brain, enabling us to see during poor lighting conditions. Numerous studies have proven the correlation between increasing your intake of vitamin A and reducing your likelihood of poor vision. One study performed on pregnant women proved that by increasing your consumption of carrots, you could improve your night vision. If you have poor night vision or have difficulty seeing in general, try increasing your intake of vitamin A! Eyesight is arguably the most important of the 5 senses because it represents the visual connection to our surrounding environment. Eyes have also been referred to as the gateway to the soul, which means they can be used as a tool to look beyond the physical world and into the spiritual. Perhaps if we have poor eyesight, this is merely the universe encouraging us to look within. Regardless of the cause of your visual impairment, I encourage you to set aside your glasses (and your reservations) and try one or more of these methods!

ntibiotic-resistant bacteria have become an out-of-control problem in our world, as doctors and leading health officials know too well. For over 100 years, Western Rockefeller Medicine and Big Pharma have been conjoined twins attached at the hip; you cannot have one without the other. Western medicine has fully embraced the drugs, radiation and surgery model, and ever since the invention of drugs like penicillin and methicillin, it has been throwing synthetic chemicals at its patients to “cure” them. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and meanwhile, life itself has found a way to counterbalance the effect of antibiotics overuse in the form of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Some such as MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus), MDR TB (MultidrugResistant Mycobacterium Tuberculosis) and CRE (Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae) are especially virulent superbugs against which Western Medicine has no defense. The reason for this situation, of course, is that antibiotics are like the proverbial sledgehammer or cannonball to the mosquito, and by wiping out the human body’s entire bacterial presence in a certain area, you are wiping out the beneficial bacteria which keep the harmful ones in check. Our body literally depends upon this bacterial balance as the foundation immunity and health.

Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria a Grave Problem Across the World

Recent reports have highlighted the massive problem. This quote is from

The Plant that Stops Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

a report entitled State of the World’s Antibiotics, 2015 by CCDEP (Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy), a US-India health research organization: “Now, however, once-treatable infections are becoming difficult to cure, raising costs to healthcare facilities, and patient mortality is rising, with costs to both individuals and society. Decreasing antibiotic effectiveness has risen from being a minor problem to a broad threat, regardless of a country’s income or the sophistication of its healthcare system.” “The U.S. Centers for Disease Control

and Prevention (CDC) estimates that antibiotic resistance is responsible for more than 2 million infections and 23,000 deaths each year in the United States, at a direct cost of $20 billion and additional productivity losses of $35 billion (CDC 2013). In Europe, an estimated 25,000 deaths are attributable to antibioticresistant infections, costing €1.5 billion annually in direct and indirect costs (EMA and ECDC 2009). Although reliable estimates of economic losses in the developing world are not available, it is estimated that 58,000 neonatal sepsis

deaths are attributable to drug- resistant infections in India alone (Laxminarayan et al. 2013). Studies from Tanzania and Mozambique indicate that resistant infections result in increased mortality in neonates and children under five (Kayange et al. 2010; Roca et al. 2008).” The WHO (World Health Organization), despite being part of the Rockefeller UN (United Nations), acknowledges the massive problem in its October 2015 fact sheet: “Antibiotic resistance is rising to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world. New resistance mechanisms emerge and spread globally every day, threatening our ability to treat common infectious diseases. A growing list of infections—such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, blood poisoning and gonorrhea—are becoming harder, and sometimes impossible, to treat as antibiotics become less effective.” Dr. Keiji Fukuda, the Assistant Director General for the World Health Organization’s Health Security department, is reported to have said: “Without urgent, coordinated action by many stakeholders, the world is headed for a post-antibiotic era … common infections and minor injuries, which have been treatable for decades, can once again kill.”

Researchers find medical marijuana decreases migraines By Lori Alton

www.naturalhealth365.com/

T

he effects of migraines can be debilitating for the 38 million men, women and children who suffer from migraines in the U.S. According to the Migraine Research Foundation, migraine is the sixth most disabling illness in the world. But new research has revealed that medical marijuana could reduce the frequency of migraines. Not only that, but medical marijuana avoids the medication-overuse headache common with conventional migraine treatments.

Finding relief with medical marijuana

Published in the scientific journal Pharmacotherapy, researchers at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus studied 121 patients diagnosed with migraines. Researchers looked at the charts of patients treated at Gedde Whole Health, a private practice specializing in the use of marijuana for a variety of conditions. About two-thirds of the patients studied already had a history of using medical marijuana or were using cannabis at the time of their initial visit. When the patients were treated with medical marijuana for migraine treatment between January 2010 and September 2014, they reported frequency of migraines dropped from an average of 10.4 to 4.6 headaches per month. A drop in frequency of this size is considered both statistically and clinically significant.

Conventionally-trained physicians need to see these scientific results

Of the 121 patients studied, 103 reported a decrease in monthly migraines. Fifteen of the patients reported they got about the same number of headaches, while three felt they had an increase in migraines. Patients used a variety of cannabis forms, suggesting that type of cannabis utilized did not affect the results. Inhaled marijuana surfaced as the favorite for treating acute symptoms. Edible cannabis, which takes longer to affect the body, appeared most useful in helping to prevent headaches. The researchers said they could not determine just how medical marijuana alleviated the symptoms of migraine. However, they believe

Page 11

there is some association between the cannabinoid receptors found throughout the body – which are believed to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties – and critical neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.

Conventional migraine remedies actually cause more headaches

Conventional treatment for migraine has been linked to a condition known as medication-overuse headache, a side effect not seen with medical marijuana use. Headache development is most common when a migraine sufferer uses acute pain-relief medication in excess of two or three times a week or an average of more than 10 days per month. Many migraine sufferers relying on conventional treatments find themselves in a painful cycle of medication-overuse headache most days, punctuated by episodic migraine pain. The condition is seen almost exclusively in those experiencing migraines or other frequent headaches. Those taking painkillers for reasons other than headache are typically not affected by the side effect. The result is a vicious cycle of varying pain. Drugs most associated with development of chronic headaches include paracetamol, codeine and the triptans. Long-term use of preventative migraine medications also risks damage to liver and kidneys.

Medical marijuana offers a wide range of health benefits

Preventing or reducing the impact of migraines is only one example of the many medicinal uses of medical marijuana. Throughout history, medical cannabis has been prized for its medicinal purposes. From the 1850s until 1942, cannabis was used in the U.S. as treatment for a host of illnesses and disorders, including tetanus, cholera, rabies, dysentery, alcoholism, opiate addiction, convulsive disorders, insanity, excessive menstrual bleeding and a long list of other health conditions. By 1937, however, the government had passed its first federal law against cannabis, despite opposition by the American Medical Association. Some of the health benefits associated

with medicinal marijuana include: n Slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s disease n Slowing the spread of cancer n Relieving pain n Preventing or helping with opiate addiction n Eliminating depression, ADHD and anxiety n Prevent blindness from glaucoma n Treating epilepsy and Tourette’s syndrome n Treating neurological damage, such as strokes or concussions Many believe the tide is finally changing and medicinal marijuana is slowly being rec-

ognized again for its health benefits. Although most Americans are in favor of legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, the government has been slow to change its stance. Obviously, this resistance to change is being driven by the pharmaceutical industry. Relatively low-cost marijuana poses a major threat to drug development and sales. Find a doctor that understands your health issues and is willing to help with the least toxic methods available.

Here’s How Procrastination Affects Your Happiness

By Dan Fries

http://www.collective-evolution.com

P

rocrastination is a powerful source of emotional resistance that affects us all. It doesn’t matter how smart or focused you are — we all put things off until later. We are all prone to pushing tasks further into the future, thinking that somehow we will be able to deal with them as soon as we get more time on our hands. However, sooner than we’ve expected, that future becomes our present and we still haven’t managed to tackle our tasks.

What is Procrastination?

We talk about it a lot, but the idea of procrastination can seem like a total abstraction. Let’s first define the term. According to Wikipedia, “procrastination” refers to the action of postponing a task or avoiding performing it. This is the practice of choosing more pleasurable things over those tasks that are less pleasurable. Procrastination can appear in any area of life and can wreak havoc in our lives. For instance, repairing a leaky roof, submitting a job report, seeing a dentist, or dealing with a stressing issue with your spouse might seem minor at first, but once they pile up, you might find yourself dealing with feelings of depression, self-doubt, guilt, and inadequacy.

Can procrastination make you unhappy?

a big impact on our level of happiness. As it turns out, watching cat videos instead of doing your homework leads to feelings of guilt and regret. Procrastination is nothing new, especially for students. A study conducted in September 2014 by two British professors proved that over 86% of students weren’t able to submit their end-of-term papers on time until there were 24 hours or less left until the deadline. Another similar study conducted in 1984 at the University of Vermont proved that 46% of students were procrastinators when it came to writing their academic papers. The surprise came as the deadline loomed closer. The professors involved in the study noticed a disturbing trend — the closer the students were to the deadline, the worse

their marks were. It was as if their scores were dropping by the minute. The reason for this disturbing trend is simple — procrastination has affected their level of happiness and therefore their skill for writing good papers. And, of course, procrastination does not allow time for the revision necessary to produce quality work.

What does procrastination actually do to your happiness and well-being?

According to a study conducted by the Procrastination Research Group, 94% of people believe that procrastination can have a negative impact on their happiness, and many other studies have proven this theory to be true.

Habitual procrastination can lead to dissatisfaction in the workplace, problems in relationships, loss of reputation, decrease of self-esteem, and the list goes on. Procrastinators have been found to resort to lies in order to reason out their unexpected delays. This leads to regret, guilt, and shame. The cycle of procrastination is quite predictable — it all starts with hope, which then transforms into anxiety, self-criticism, and guilt, and then moves towards regret. Another project or task comes by, and the cycle repeats itself. Here are the ways procrastination eats away at your well-being: n Damages relationships: Being late to dates or postponing that important talk with your spouse could damage your relationship in the long run. n Wastes opportunities: Just think of how many opportunities you’ve missed by falling into the trap of procrastination. One thing is sure — missed opportunities never come back. If seized, some of these opportunities might have made your life happier. n Kills time: Losing time is obviously something that will affect your happiness. If you put a huge emphasis on time, then your level of happiness will decrease exponentially by wasting it procrastinating. nLowers self-esteem: According to numerous studies, people who are not able to complete tasks on time tend to experience a decreased level of self-esteem and confidence in themselves, which will automatically lead to a lower level of hap-

umanity has always had a deep fascination with the fungal kingdom. Stories involving the mysterious world of mushrooms are layered into the folklore in every culture that has ever existed. Even the earliest intact human we know of, Otzi the Iceman (5000 y old), had a pouch containing 2 medicinal mushrooms (Birch and Tinder polypore). Both of which are considered to be helpful with parasites and bacterial infection, which he was shown to be suffering from. The deeper we dig into the world of mushrooms, the more we find ourselves in amazement and awe at the potential keys that the fungal kingdom unlock. The fungal kingdom has a potent place in helping tackle many of the major issues we face in the world right now. When we take into account all the new technology, growing edge science, and old world knowledge surrounding mushrooms, it is a mind opening experience. The more we learn about them and their dynamic, integral part in life, the more we realize how little we know about our own planet, ourselves and the future of our health sovereignty… Currently studies and testing are being done on fungi in many sectors of government and industry, including use in disease control, immune support, chronic diseases, food sources, flame resistant and lightweight building materials, biofuels,

D Fungi and Animals (humans too) share up to 67% of the same DNA. Whereas, plant and animals only share around 25%. This makes us also share more similarities in disease types, communication, growth patterns and so on. D There are single organisms of fungi that have been recorded to be over 1,500

eople create false illusion about

themselves, which have a negative impact on their lives. Here’s how to shed all of these false realities and become authentic once again. Just be yourself! The age-old advice we have all heard countless times. Yet, why is it so hard to apply this seemingly simply advice? Maybe it’s because we don’t really know who we are. As someone who wishes to teach the world about involution and its eternal joy, it is quite daunting to know that most of us don’t even know who we are. People fail to listen to their own souls, they have ideas and dreams about who they should be and doubt themselves when their soul is trying to reach out to them. In this article, I would like to explore how we are losing our authenticity and, hopefully, find ways to learn more about ourselves.

The Creation of Dreams

We all go through the process of losing our authenticity, when we replace it with thoughts in the form of rules, norms, fears and beliefs — this is known as domestication. Our domestication can become a huge problem, especially if our parents are not aware of the implications of their actions. Just like pets, we are domesticated using the reward/punishment mechanism. All children live in the present and simply don’t care about other people’s judgments and opinions. However, as we grow up, our thoughts start to have a stronger influence on who we are, and with thoughts comes fear, which results in our need to be accepted. Hence, our self-growth is suddenly in the hands of other people. Since our self-worth is determined by other

people, we are forced to change in order to comply with other people’s opinions, resulting in a false image of ourselves, which is the dream. As life goes on, different people enter our lives — such as teachers, friends, bosses, lovers and so on. In order to be liked or accepted, we further fragment into different fake versions of ourselves. In the end, we become adept at these acquired personalities and, eventually, forget who we really were. It’s no wonder that we feel so off-centered considering that our self-worth comes from false images of ourselves, because even if we completely forget, deep down, our unconscious mind knows exactly who we are and it suffers as we further move away from authenticity. This is where we learn to hate ourselves, as the number of insecurities starts to increase. Psychologists refer to the false image as “ego.” This suffering that many go through is essentially our need to please others, a habit inculcated at an early age and conditioned throughout our lives. More importantly, it is a lie that we tell ourselves that we need to be in a certain way, in order to be acknowledged. Those who chase perfection will eventually realize that they are chasing an ideal that is a false illusion and a dream.

Opt for your Authentic Self We need to understand that seeking love outside is completely futile. We already have

love around and within us. All we need to do is learn to love, accept ourselves, and get rid of our fear of loving or the fear of rejection. So how do we put an end to these selfdestructive tendencies and stop rejecting ourselves? The following are a few practical suggestions to help you find your authentic self:

Truthfulness One needs a strong desire to be honest with one’s inner self. Being honest with yourself will allow you to see the level of domestication you’ve undergone or even the defense mechanisms you’ve unconsciously created.

Forgiveness There is not a shadow of a doubt that people can be their own worst enemies. The most important thing you need to learn in order to find your authentic self is to stop being your own enemy. Stop judging yourself! This can only be achieved once you learn to forgive yourself. For example, you ate a heavy meal and later feel guilty because you feel fat due to your false image. Since your mind will now make you suffer, you are only inclined to eat more in order to feel better, effectively creating a vicious and dysfunctional cycle. This happens because our minds are not as simple as our bodies. The mind locks itself

on a repetitive loop and doesn’t let go. Learning to forgive yourself is the only way to take the conscious attention away from your mind and focus on your emotional needs.

Self-Love Loving yourself is probably the only way for one to bring about a positive change in their life. Absolutely no one can ever be truly happy unless they love themselves, unconditionally. When you love yourself, not only that you res pect yourself, but you also take care of yourself. No one can harm you or make you feel less about yourself, because you know yourself better than anyone else.

Solitude Although, our society has associated loneliness with negativity, but how exactly is one supposed to introspect with other people around? The only time we are capable of properly hearing our own thoughts is when we are alone. Hence, this is the time for authenticity because there is no one to form judgments and opinions. It is the only time we can become aware of the level of our domestication and, most times, a realization is all we need. Living an authentic life is crucial for living a fulfilling and purposeful life. It allows you experience joy in literally everything you do, because whatever you do, you do it for no one but yourself and that’s the only thing that matters. Start living for yourself for once and experience the true meaning of joy. indfulness is “the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment”, which can be trained by a large extent in meditational practices. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published the results of a ground-breaking study that found that meditation appears to provide as much relief from some anxiety and depression symptoms as antidepressants. Mindfulness-based trainings have shown beneficial effects on inflammatory disorders in prior clinical studies and are endorsed by the American Heart Association as a preventative intervention. The training provides a biological mechanism for therapeutic effects. A study in Psychoneuroendocrinology by researchers in Wisconsin, Spain, and France reported the first evidence of specific molecular changes in the body following a period of intensive mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness Meditation The Most Effective Form

Dr. Madhav Goyal of the John Hopkins School of Medicine, who led the research published in JAMA, singled out mindfulness meditation as the most effective form. “It doesn’t surprise me at all that mindfulness performs as well as or better than medication,” says Adrian Wells, a professor of psychopathology at Manchester University and a clinical advisor to the charity Anxiety UK. The psychologist Katie Sparks agrees. “In the group work that I’ve done with sufferers of anxiety or depression, I’ve found it very beneficial because it calms the mind. It’s not a new thing,” she adds. That’s an understatement: Mindfulness is a meditation technique that has been advocated by Buddhism for 2,500 years. Paul Christelis, the Light Centre’s course leader and a clinical psychologist, defines it as “paying attention to your experience, on purpose, in the present

Page 15

Mindfulness moment, without judgment or criticism.” Its crossover into Western culture has been gradual. But in 2004, its use in preventing the relapse of depression was approved by the U.K.’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice). It has rapidly gained traction since.

Gene Activity Can Change According To Perception

According to Dr. Bruce Lipton, gene activity can change on a daily basis. If the perception in your mind is reflected in the chemistry of your body, and if your nervous system reads and interprets the environment and then controls the blood’s chemistry, then you can literally change the fate of your cells by altering your thoughts. In fact, Dr. Lipton’s research illustrates that by changing your perception, your mind can alter the activity of your genes and create over thirty thousand variations of products from each gene. He gives more detail by saying that the gene programs are contained within the nucleus of the cell, and you can rewrite those genetic programs through changing your blood chemistry. In the simplest terms, this means that we need to change the way we think if we are to heal cancer. “The function of the mind is to create coherence between our beliefs and the reality we experience,” Dr. Lipton said. “What that means is that your mind will adjust the body’s biology and behavior to fit with your beliefs. If you’ve been told you’ll die in six months and your mind believes it, you most likely will die in six months. That’s called the nocebo effect, the result of a negative thought, which is

Is More Effective Than Drugs For Anxiety & Depression

the opposite of the placebo effect, where healing is mediated by a positive thought.” That dynamic points to a three-party system: there’s the part of you that swears it doesn’t want to die (the conscious mind), trumped by the part that believes you will (the doctor’s prognosis mediated by the subconscious mind), which then throws into gear the chemical reaction (mediated by the brain’s chemistry) to make sure the body conforms to the dominant belief. (Neuroscience has recognized that the subconscious controls 95 percent of our lives.) Now what about the part that doesn’t want to die--the conscious mind? Isn’t it impacting the body’s chemistry as well? Dr. Lipton said that it comes down to how the subconscious mind, which contains our deepest beliefs, has been programmed. It is these beliefs that ultimately cast the deciding vote.

Many Declaring Themselves Devotees

In the past few years, Oprah Winfrey, Arianna Huffington and Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone have declared themselves devotees. General Mills, the Cheerios manufacturer, has a corporate mindfulness program with 700 members. In some business communities -- notably Silicon Valley -- it is so popular that you could argue that it has become a status symbol, a badge proving how busy and important your job is. But its proponents swear by it. Ben, 32, a soccer-loving political advisor from Oxford, tries to set aside 15 minutes each day to meditate. “It definitely makes a difference when

I do it,” he says. “It gives me more composure. I feel more clear-headed.” He was drawn to its promise of improved concentration -- “my mind tends to wander” -- but “the bigger thing I took away from it is it teaches you to take the rough with the smooth. Sometimes at work you feel, like, ‘this is just a nightmare’. But then you think: ‘It will be a nightmare for 10 days, then it will pass.’” Kate, 34, works in fashion and has taken medication for many years to help manage her depression. “Medication was only going so far,” she says. “It wasn’t tackling me getting overwhelmed by my mind.” She’s been meditating for 20 minutes every morning for the past three years and says: “The emotion’s still there but instead of feeling, ‘Oh my God, I’m feeling really awful or depressed’, or whatever, you take a step back and think: ‘There’s that feeling. It will be there for a while and then it will go.’” Paul believes mindfulness meditation “nurtures equanimity. It trains you to have an unshakeable balance of mind, so that you’re feeling everything but not getting swamped by it.” Though I’ve never thought of it as “mindfulness,” I reckon I’m pretty good at appreciating the here and now. Many times a week I’ll note (just a little smugly) that I’m the only one looking up from my device and out of the window on my bus journeys to work. I’m a big believer in the benefits of quiet time, too: a few minutes now and then to acknowledge, and even indulge in, a little sadness, frustration or worry. So I arrive at the Light Centre thinking this will be a breeze. The popularity of mindfulness coincides with a spike in the incidence of depression and

The Power of Nonviolent Acts of Humiliation Rise of The Coup Warriors:

“Counting Coup is a robust exhibition… it serves to examine how the tactics of mundane survival can be subversive, even as blatantly courageous as the actions of old: riding one’s horse pellmell at an enemy who wants you dead, touching him with your bare hand, and turning around and speeding off, leaving your foe astonished and confounded by the nerve of your valor.”

our skin may be white, black, brown, red, yellow, or whatever other stereotypical color you wish to marginalize it with. But your heart is red. It bleeds red no matter your race, nationality, or creed. We are all united in red and the red nation has the potential to rise again, and it can be a gift for a sick world. In honor of the recent events unfolding Between the North Dakota Sioux tribe and the development of the Dakota Access Pipeline, this article is an attempt to update the concept of counting coup using strategic humiliation and imaginative nonviolence, while courageously turning the tables on the ecocidal Goliath state that looms menacingly over us all. Humiliation is a powerful psychosocial leveling mechanism. It can be more powerful than violence if it is done intelligently and imaginatively enough. The Native American concept of counting coup is a prime example. As described by the combined references of Chief Plenty Coups, Black Elk, and Joe Medicine Crow: “Counting coup refers to the winning of prestige in battle by the Plains Indians of North America. Warriors won prestige by acts of bravery in the face of the enemy, and these acts

could be recorded in various ways and retold as stories. Any blow struck against the enemy counted as a coup, but the most prestigious acts included touching an enemy warrior with the hand, bow, or with a coup stick then escaping unharmed. Touching the enemy’s defensive works also counted as coup. Counting coup could also involve stealing an enemy’s weapons or horses tied up to his lodge in camp. Risk of injury or death was required to count coup.”

Counting coup is far superior to the cowardice of a violent attack, because it showcases a higher level of courage while also alleviating the peaceful warrior from the guilt that comes from taking a human life. It also indirectly sets the stage for wise humor to win out over ignorant anger, thus potentially bringing the tragedy of war around full circle to the tragicomedy of the human condition: to a sacred place where we can all laughably relate,

whether friend or foe, comrade or enemy. Counting coup requires great courage, and great courage requires deep love. As such, counting coup uses the shaming mechanism of direct humiliation as a means to the end of bringing an “enemy” back from the egocentric path of unhealthy, immoderate, apathetic, ecocidal, violent action and onto the ecocentric path of healthy, moderate, empathetic, interdependent, non-violent action. Its goal is to shame those who have lost their way in the ugliness of violence and war into finding their way back into the peaceful fold of love. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war.” Counting coup is the epitome of organizing peacefully, lovingly, and courageously in the face of those who have carelessly and unconsciously organized themselves with violence and war in their heart. As Derrick Jensen said, “Love does not imply pacifism.” It won’t be easy. Truly courageous acts never are. As Robert Reich surmised, “Mobilizing and changing the allocation of power within a society is a serious, long term and very difficult process.” Especially if you are a tiny David in the midst of a giant Goliath. But a true peaceful warrior, a coup warrior, will always choose courageous failure over

“Nonviolence does not mean meek submission to the will of the evil-doer. It means the pitting of one’s whole soul against the will of the tyrant.” — Ghandi standing in front of a tank armed with nothing but shopping bags, sticking a flower into the barrel of a gun, etc.) the Coup Warrior, the Heyoka Activist, the Reverse Warrior, The Rainbow Warrior, mightily declares to all: the so-called power of authority is nothing more than a cartoon in the brain, an agreed-upon social ailment that must be transcended with courage and humor, lest we fall victim to becoming “well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” (Krishnamurti)

cowardice success. As I wrote in The Virtue of Dissent, “Sure, it’s risky. But acts of courage always are. The virtue found in dissent is not for the meek and mild. The capacity needed to burden the vicissitudes and handle the heat, is great. But never has there been a greater need for people of this particular caliber.”

Intelligent Nonviolence and Strategic Humiliation

“Nonviolence does not mean meek submission to the will of the evil-doer. It means the pitting of one’s whole soul against the will of the tyrant. Working under this law of our being, it is possible for a single individual to defy the whole might of an unjust empire to save his honor, his spirituality, his soul and lay the foundation for that empire’s fall.” ~Gandhi Here’s the thing: Violence is for the weak. A violent person is a symbol of failure. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. A man in a tank is not a symbol of courage as the weak propagandized media will have you believe. Nor are two men pathetically and ignobly facing off in a warzone, or even in an arena. No, these are symbols of invulnerable cowardice. Similarly, a man who offensively (cops, soldiers), rather than defensively (protectors and peace bringers), hides behind a gun, is a symbol of fear and paranoia, not of courage and valor. Courage and valor is sneaking up behind that

coward with a gun and depantsing him in front of his peers. It’s climbing on top of that tank and pissing into the hatch. It’s cunningly turning the tables on the would-be violent person using the art of fighting without fighting, as Bruce Lee did in the movie Enter the Dragon. The key is caring about people to the extent that you don’t harm them, but not caring about what they think, or about hurting their feelings. The other key is getting away with it. Imagine creatively counting coup on such mega-corporations as Exxon, Monsanto, Pfizer, and Goldman Sachs. Imagine scenes from the movie Fight Club (especially the Project Mayhem chapter of it) strategically and intelligently brought to life. Imagine the thin blue line transformed into the thin green line as you piss all over the cops so-called authority (yellow and blue makes green, after all). Just remember, there is a fine line between courage and stupidity. Hence the terms “intelligent” and “strategic.” So pick your battles smartly and deliberately, and move on with your courage in tow and your “coup stick” blazing with notches of valor. Counting coup trumps artillery with art. It trumps apathy with empathy. It trumps fear with courage. It trumps seriousness with a sense of humor. It trumps greed with selfsacrifice. It trumps paranoia with pronoia (Rob Brezsny). In one fell swoop (a mocking touch, a graffiti tag, a humiliating smack on the ass,

Danger be damned! As Nietzsche said, “The secret of reaping the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from life is to live dangerously.” An act of counting coup takes living dangerously to the next level. The fruits gained are the fruits of prestige and honor in the face of the deplorable and dishonorable control pathetically displayed by the unhealthy authority of the state. Courage in the face of fear, paranoia, greed and tyranny, even at the risk of imprisonment or death, will always trump the comfortable cowardice of indifference toward atrocity or the reassurance gained from succumbing to the security of the status quo. As Albert Einstein surmised, “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” If we can strategically raise shaming to a social leveling mechanism and update the concept of counting coup, we can turn humiliation into an art form that is far superior to violence in response to violence. Indeed. Instead of the never-ending violent cycle of “an eye for an eye” we replace it with a courageous, humorous, and non-violent “I for an eye.” We just need to use our imagination and dig down deep for a little bit of dangerous courage. The modern-day David’s sling shot is an updated counting of coup. We don’t need to kill Goliath, we just need to send it crying and humiliated back into its cave of lies. Let it rot there from its own overindulgence and immoderation. Let it topple there under its own unsustainability and overreach. Let it defeat itself there as it poisons its own water with pollution and “growth for the sake of growth.” And if it should manage to rise back up

from its humiliation looking for a fight, all the coup warrior needs to say is: “You want to fight me? Go ahead and try. Do what you’ve got to do. I’m not fighting you. I refuse to lower myself to your level. But I will laugh at you. I will intimidate you. I will mock your violence with my humor. I will dodge your every blow. I will be in your face as a lover of life despite your support of violence, death, and war. I will, in more ways than one, count coup on you and your outdated war machine. Mine is a way of peace and non-violence. The only way you will ever earn the honor of fighting me is if my life is in immediate danger. And if my life is in immediate danger then there is no decision to make. Either I’m going to die or you’re going to die. But I will not fight you as long as the decision is mine. Your absolute humiliation is my only goal. For you have lost your way, and your only way back to the moral path is by way of humiliation. And if that should backfire into you acting violently towards me, so be it. But I will always rise up against your cowardly violence with my courageous non-violence, even if that means my imprisonment or death. For not even death can stop those who are truly free.” As Alexander Berkman declared, “The man who can face vilification and disgrace, who can stand up against the popular current, even against his friends and his country when he knows he is right, who can defy those in authority over him, who can take punishment and prison and remain steadfast—that is a man of courage.” Tyranny or freedom? Fascism or anarchy? The choice is yours.

D In a single day, some mycelium travel many miles underground, while others produce 10 or more pounds of growth in the form of fruiting body. (Maitake has been recorded to produce up to an 80lb fruiting body in just a few days) D All plants voluntarily create mycorrhizal relationships with fungi, this is where the roots bind with mycelium, acting like “second roots” to increase the plant’s absorption of nutrients, immune function, and open communication channels with other organisms. What most interests me though, when it comes to mushrooms, is the medicinal benefits of the polypores (and similar species) that work as biological modulators and educators for our body systems, helping with some of our most challenging “dis-eases”. The 5 Main Reasons We Procrastinate

Procrastination usually affects us in three main areas of our lives: education, career, and health. Procrastination can be either decisional, which means putting off taking decisions, or avoidant, which means putting off doing certain things. Procrastination never comes alone. Procrastination is typically triggered by environmental cues. Research shows that the main reasons we procrastinate are as follows:

it’s the advanced inter-branching 1000+ carbon chains known as polysaccharides, and the unique hormone like steroidal structures known as triterpenes that seem to have a very profound health enhancing effect on the human body. All in all, the conversation and understanding of how valuable of a resource fungi is to all life on this planet is starting to awaken in our science, and in our consciousness. n 1. Impulsiveness: Being impulsive makes you jump from one task to another, making you leave some tasks unfinished in order to complete others that seem more important. n 2. Being uninterested: When we are not interested in doing something, whether it’s a project or a resume update, we are actually procrastinating. It’s human nature. We prefer to run from painful activities and chase more pleasurable ones. n 3. Anxiety: More often than not, when a deadline is upon us, we procrastinate more instead of striving to meet that deadline. n 4. Perfectionism: Perfectionism also leads us to procrastinate. While in some areas, such as sports or music, perfectionism is a must, for most people

this desire to be the best represents their downfall. n 5. Low confidence: Ultimately, having a low self-esteem and a low level of confidence in yourself leads to fear of taking action, whose outcome is procrastination.

3 Ways To Beat Procrastination

The good news is that procrastination is not an insurmountable enemy. You can actually overcome this limitation with ease. Here’s how: n 1. Get into the right mindset: For starters, you should begin by changing your mentality. Carol Dweck, the famous author of Mindset: The New Psychology

of Success, has revealed that a proper mindset enables people to accomplish great things. Simply build yourself into a winning mentality and you are two steps closer to experiencing success. n 2. Avoid it: Probably the simplest method to stay away from procrastination is to avoid it in the first place. To do this, set a few clear goals that have realistic expectations. As Tony Robbins says, the best way to stop procrastinating is by putting it off until later. n 3. ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy): Ultimately, ACT is your last resort to defeat procrastination. This mindfulness-based therapy helps you to accept yourself and take control over your actions.

ith empathy, the ability to recognize and feel other people’s emotions, comes the disadvantage of also absorbing the suffering and negativity of the others around you. When this occurs, your ability to function at your best can be significantly impacted. Even a person who is not so empathic can be affected energetically when around negative or dramatic people. Absorbing other people’s negative energy can be just as toxic on a person as ingesting unhealthy food, and perhaps even more noticeably draining. Thus, learning how to stop this from happening can be a valuable skill. Here are five methods that you can use so you absorb less negative energy from others around you.

1) Be Selective About People You Allow into Your Life You have to come to terms that not everyone will like you, and you don’t have to become friends with everyone that you meet. You do not need to pressure yourself into befriending everyone you meet, either at work, though existing friends, or via your kids. Of course you want to be polite, but trust your intuition when meeting new people and don’t ever feel like you need to spend time with people just because you’ve come to know them by association. Furthermore, if you find yourself often needing to vent about a person, have a friend that is consistently negative about life, or feel like someone in your life is regularly taking advantage of you or is unkind to you, then perhaps it is time to create some distance. Some friendships or relationships are just not good for you, and you have to be able to accept that. Once you do, you can let go of the friends and acquaintances that dump their negativity on you. Learning to let go and saying “no” to

Page 19

5 Ways to Stop

Absorbing Negative Energy from Others

people who do not deserve your time and attention allows you more time for the ones that do, including your family and YOURSELF.

2) Don’t Try Please Everyone We all have only so many hours in one day, so be selective about who receives your time. Don’t waste it on people who don’t seem to care about you, give you a hard time, or are overly critical of you. Just as you won’t like certain individuals, there will be some that don’t like you or do not treat you kindly. Focus on developing relationships that seem to thrive naturally, versus working on getting people to like you who naturally don’t gravitate to you. The latter will not only leave you drained, they will probably affect how you perceive yourself.

3) Beware of Energy Vampires As already mentioned, you may have existing friends that are always negative about life, but consider that some people are can be even more toxic. These types could be dubbed energy vampires because they suck you dry of all positive energy and leave you with all their negativity. That is what keeps them going. Beware of energy vampires who always use negative words and dump negative emotions onto you. Notice which “friends” use pessimis-

tic language or treat you like a soundboard for their negative feelings. You are likely absorbing all of their negativity every time you see them. This doesn’t mean stop being there for a friend in need, but pay attention to the ones that take advantage of a kind ear or are inclined to always use negative language. Let them know how you feel about all the pessimism. If these “friends” don’t understand that they are draining you, then perhaps they are not really your friends.

4) Be Responsible for Yourself You are the only person that has control over how you feel. In any situation, you have the choice of how you react and what you do. Some say it takes years of training to control your feelings, but it all starts with awareness, which you can practice right now. Taking responsibility for yourself means that you have to start becoming aware of how you feel when certain people are around you. And then are not afraid to take action. If you spend time with someone who makes you feel bad or leaves you drained, it is time to create some distance between you and that person. Don’t be a victim, because you have the power of how you experience life. You will absorb more goodness and less negativity if you really reflect on how people, places and situations make you feel, and then take action

to change what does not serve you.

5) Spend Time Alone For some reason the Western society has come to denigrate personal characteristics such as introversion, shyness, timidity, etc. However, time alone, and the personal discovery that happens during this time, can be quite healing and regenerating. For some, solitude is quite difficult as it is a time when a person starts to really look at what’s happening with their own self. Yet it is necessary if you are to cultivate the awareness you need to identify when you absorb negative energy and who in your life is an energy vampire. Remember simple tools such as breathing slowly, quiet meditation, reading a good book, and spending time in nature. They are all available to you so you can enjoy solitude. Use these tools when you are ready to take action to rid yourself of unwanted energetic toxicity and reinforce yourself for yet another day.

www.julianrose.info here’s no point in pretending it’s something not to think about. We do anyway don’t we? But it’s how we think about it that matters – and how we feel about it, even more so. Carlos Castaneda rivets our attention on the ever-imminent reality in proclaiming the Shaman’s rule: that unless one can stand face to face with the unflinching reality of death – one is unsuited to the role of warrior traveler. Now some might retort “We are not aspiring to be warriors anyway, so why make a big deal out of it?” OK, but let’s not confuse the more standard war-like connotation of that word ‘warrior’ with its further meaning as: warrior traveler. You see the ‘traveler’ factor is very significant; it means something that moves, that is not static. It suggests a continuing exploration, a voyage, change an unfolding event, doesn’t it? Many reading this are no doubt warrior travelers in the making; brave explorers within the divine drama of life. But many more might wish to be, yet feel a little fearful of the many unknowns that face the would-be initiate. I suggest that we all recognize this dilemma and share the insecurities and questions it raises within us. So, just like any of life’s innumerable hurdles, we can start by looking at ‘passing’ as a creative challenge. There is clearly an art to dying just as there is an art to living. The question is, what might that art be … and will we be lucky enough to have a generous and largely pain-free space of quietude in which to perform it? That would indeed be a blessing. I’ll have a stab at answering these rhetorical questions, but please bear in mind that they are my particular take on this – and I don’t pretend to suggest otherwise. This is a flight of the intuitive led imagination. If dying is an art, then the first thing to recognize is that it is ‘art in progress’, as it were. We are talking about ‘transition’ are we

discipline of ‘complete relaxation’, which is performed at the completion of the various stretches that comprise the majority of Hatha Yoga techniques. Many, I’m sure, will already know about this relaxation technique. ‘Complete relaxation’ is about letting go. So, ‘Complete relaxation’ is about letting go. So, I believe, is I believe, is transitioning. transitioning. Lying on one’s not? We are talking about moving through difback with arms ferent states of existence. While spread-eagled on This comes through the widely practiced one’s back one gives one’s self over to benign universal powers and requests to be cleansed and healed: to loose one’s “I – dentity”; the dispensing of ego. So as to let all the ‘I’ centred thoughts fall away, until a deep calm and lightness of being prevails and a subtle sense of becoming spirit gradually takes over. One might then experience a subtle sense of floating upwards, just as the weight of the physical body falls away. It is here, at this gentle point of separation between material physicality and spirit ether that we get something akin to a memory of transitioning into the vastness of the infinite. Infinite love. A dimension state named ‘heaven’ in the texts of old. On the first part of this journey the presence of brilliant rays of light become manifest. Soon those photons are experienced as a state of being. Light as a state of being. Soul and light conjoined as one; expanding in intensity on the vibratory notes of a swelling symphonic resonance. The speed of ascent may then quicken as ‘spirit I’ is pulled rapidly towards a magnetic point of great radiant power. It is here where a profound cleansing is initiated, causing our soul seed to merge into a great pool of highly energetic fecund plasma; freed of all molecular Earth bound energies that were a requirement of dealing with third density worldly existence. It is here where the soul seed (what remains of ‘us’) is melded into the vibratory expression of Essence itself. Essence, vibrating at such a high velocity that it forms an oasis of profound stillness. The omnipotent melding of the dual. That which encompasses both Alpha and Omega points as One. The One. That is the culmination of the outward journey. And also the culmination of an inward journey. The inward and outward journeys arrive

at the same source point they started from. From here is fired the ecstatic ‘birthing cosmos’ double spiral. The re-beginning. Blasting the seed of fresh awakening life, back out into the next great unfolding cycle: a further phase of the adventure of ‘our’ purified spirit. Either re-experiencing life on Earth as the baby emerging from the womb of woman; or proceeding on another journey, guided by Source, to perform a role that gives further service to universal awakening. As regards our individual journeys; well, they will be determined by our karma. Each journey is unique, yet in many other respects, similar. But the transition from ‘material’ life to ‘spirit after-life’ and onward into higher densities – or back to third density material existence once again – has one thing in common for all of us: its astounding mystery! An intriguing part of this mystery surrounds the question: who decides if we return again to planet Earth? It is my belief that we decide; but only if and when we have achieved (or maintained) a state of conscious awareness during the majority of our time on Earth. Anyhow, a joyful embracing of ‘the great mystery’ is itself a vital factor in moving outward, onward and upward. In saying this, I’m not advocating a denial of true scientific exploration. When genuine and passionate, this complements our intuitive awareness. Not so long ago, such a sense of mystery echoed out from the well-thumbed pages of little books of fairy stories. Our eager young minds were opened, as were our eyes, by the sense of wonder and anticipation, which these tales invoked in us. That sense of mystery needs to prevail throughout our lives and into our passing; in spite of the ultra crude attempts being made to flatten, denigrate and ultimately destroy the living joy which is our birthright and cause to be. After all, is it possible to observe sparkling water, swooping birds and gleaming forests – in fact any facet of the bounty of nature – without a sense of wonder? Where are we if we can no longer rejoice at the miraculous emanations of the great cycle of life and death? Where are we if we cannot be overcome, from time to time, by the astounding wealth of diversity and mystery that underscores the unfathomable journey we are all on. Where are we if we see in all this simply the ordinary, the inert and the functional? Where are we if it all comes down to just some sort of routine mediocrity; some soulless daily ordeal? As the epitaph on the tombstone in an English graveyard declares, “Here lies John Adams. The fact that he died does not guarantee that he lived.” And that’s just it. To die well we have to live well. That means fully and generously; seizing every chance we have to fully utilize our potentiality, imagination and creative aspirations. Using them to bring justice to an unjust world. To boldly confront deceit with truth. That is the prerogative attached to being ‘human’, and that which makes us proud of being human. A state we cannot accomplish when cut off from our fellow earthlings or when seeking solely to secure our own selfinterests or narcissistic ambitions. That is a road that runs counter to our deepest callings. It results in the fact that death becomes a much-feared event. Feared because death most assuredly terminates the willful cravings of the ego. Most surely shreds the puffed-up vanities of narcissism; and most surely confers upon its carrier further cycles of atonement, before ‘the passing’ is able to bring about a true freedom

The art of dying may be enhanced by arranging a few practice sessions before finding ourselves (our souls) on this journey – whether we like it or not.

Fatigue From page 7

What causes adrenal fatigue?

Dr Michael Lam is an adrenal fatigue specialist who works with patients who have intractable and advanced adrenal fatigue. He is a medical doctor specializing in nutrition and anti-aging medicine and was the first to scientifically tie in Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS) as part of the overall neuroendocrine stress response continuum of the body. Dr Lam says that the most common cause of adrenal fatigue is emotional and mental stress and distress. He classes adrenal fatigue along with other conditions such as dysautonomia, and POTS, as a new class of conditions in modern medicine linking the mind and the body. “Adrenal Fatigue can be considered a mind-body disorder. A strong mind-body connection is a powerful healing force you can harness for better health. However, on the flipside, as in Adrenal Fatigue, the mind-body connection can be a devastating negative force capable of ruining your body.”

Adrenal fatigue can be considered a mind-body disorder He believes that adrenal fatigue is one of the most prevalent conditions affecting almost every adult in the world today. Adrenal fatigue has a broad spectrum of nonspecific yet often debilitating symptoms and the onset is often slow and insidious. Adrenal fatigue is a complex condition. “The adrenal glands are the main stress modulation centres of the body. When stressors (either physical or emotional) overwhelm the adrenal’s ability to compensate, Adrenal Fatigue may ensue. This is usually a slow and insidious process that progresses through many years, though some can experience it after an intense episode of acute stress, such as death of a loved one, financial distress, or acute infection. The job of returning the body to its normal function rests with the adrenals. This process is indeed complicated and convoluted, accompanied by many unpleasant symptoms. They are mediated primarily by hormones. The main ones are cortisol, adrenaline, estrogen, and androgen. The adrenals bear the brunt of this responsibility, as it secretes over 50 different hormones in an exact and very precise manner to maintain normal internal homeostasis.” — Dr Lam

kidneys are your most important organs. They regulate the internal Chi. If you are balanced, strong physically, sound mentally and emotionally your kidney chi will be abundant. Western chronic conditions of adrenal fatigue like back pain, depression, hypothyroidism, kidney inflammation and sexual dysfunction parallel the conditions of kidney yang deficiency. Traditional Chinese Medicine regards adrenal fatigue as a deficiency in the kidneys. Treatment includes building up the kidney yin with herbs and dietary changes to support health. Jacinta McEwen is a nurse, Herbalist, Naturopath and Ayurvedic Practitioner who has been working with clients in her busy practice, for over 30 years. She says that adrenal exhaustion is a symptom and that just looking at the symptoms is not enough. It is important to treat the whole system. “You can’t just take adrenal herbs and think it will fix your adrenal exhaustion. For most of us we’re exhausted because we are over-pushing.” “Most people say I’m exhausted, let’s get that fixed so I can go back to living how I was before. But we need to get back to living a balanced life and looking at what we need to change in order to do that.” She says that the counseling aspect of treating adrenal exhaustion is as important to her as the herbs. “I ask people: what is your lifestyle? What are you expecting from yourself? How much are you pushing yourself, and why? … You can’t say to people, you need to rest more, as people need to pay the rent and look after their kids. So we need to find a better balance in our lives.” “It is the daily regimes that are the pillar of good health. We need to treat holistically and to treat the individual. As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I would be treating the adrenal exhaustion differently according to the constitution of each client.” — Jacinta McEwen

Do you have adrenal fatigue?

Some of the major symptoms of adrenal fatigue are: feeling tired all the time, allergies, diminished tolerance to stress and an increase in anxiety, being easily startled, lethargy, dizziness, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, hypothyroid, being caffeine dependent, weight gain, specifically as a layer of belly fat, sensitivity to bright light, getting your best sleep in the morning, low libido, food cravings, multiple stress factors in your life, dark circles under the eyes, minor cold symptoms, muscle weakness and toxic relationships. None of the signs or symptoms by themselves can definitively pinpoint adrenal fatigue; it is the combination of these symptoms that forms the picture of adrenal fatigue. Dr Lam has conducted extensive research into adrenal fatigue and has come up with over 75 signs of adrenal fatigue. You can read more here (https:// www.drlam.com/blog/75-signs-symptoms-and-alerts-of-adrenal-fatiguesyndrome-2/1970/). If you think you may have adrenal fatigue it is vital to get help early on and not to let it develop into something unmanageable. So how do you know if you have adrenal fatigue, chronic fatigue or are just bone tired? Adrenal fatigue and chronic fatigue are conditions that share similar symptoms but have different causes. There is always a relationship between persistent fatigue and adrenal insufficiency. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS/ ME seems to come on suddenly. Many people who have adrenal fatigue have

extreme stress for some time before the exhaustion. There is growing research into unusual infectious microorganisms that may be the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. These microorganisms are not detected by standard lab tests, but sophisticated lab tests are confirming the link between microorganisms and CFS.

How to heal adrenal fatigue “Many people question whether

a total and complete recovery from adrenal fatigue is possible. The answer is yes in the vast majority of cases, but only if done right. Adrenal fatigue often takes a decade or more to develop. It is important to allow the body time to recover. A few months of recovery is considered a short time within this time horizon. Time is a great healer when the body is given the proper nutrients along with proper lifestyle and dietary protocols. Those who demand a quick recovery invariably become disappointed because the body is not a light switch that can be turned on and off at will. A systematic and logical approach works the best under professional guidance.” — Dr Lam.

From page 10 Bacteria are intelligent enough to outwit antibiotics through various means, as this study mentions: “In bacteria, genes can be inherited from relatives or can be acquired from nonrelatives on mobile genetic elements such as plasmids. This horizontal gene transfer (HGT) can allow antibiotic resistance to be transferred among different species of bacteria. Resistance can also occur spontaneously through mutation. Antibiotics remove drugsensitive competitors, leaving resistant bacteria behind to reproduce as a result of natural selection.”

Meet the Plant that Can Defeat Some Strains of Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria Although Nature (and Man) has created a problem, Nature has also created a solution. It turns out that there may be an answer to the problem of antibiotic overuse and antibiotic-resistant bacteria: cannabis. Although it was demonized in the 1930s-1950s because of its threat to the oil, timber, clothing, fuel and pharmaceutical industries, the

scientifically proven truth has emerged that cannabis (aka marijuana, hemp, weed or pot) has amazing medical properties that we are just beginning to understand. In an earlier article Cannabidiol (CBD): The Cat’s Out of the Bag with This Cure-All, I highlighted how just 1 cannabinoid out of more than 100 (namely cannabidiol or CBD) was responsible for so many wonderful and astounding health benefits, such as being anti-carcinogenic, neuro-protective, antipsychotic and anti-inflammatory. Well, now you can add another great medical property to the list: anti-bacterial or anti-microbial, and not just against any ordinary bacterium. A 2008 study entitled Antibacterial Cannabinoids from Cannabis sativa: A Structure−Activity Study found that cannabinoids have powerful antibacterial ability, including against MRSA: “All five major cannabinoids (cannabidiol, cannabichromene, cannabigerol, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, and cannabinol) showed potent activity against a variety of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains of current clinical relevance.” “All compounds showed potent antibacterial activity … Activity was exceptional against some of these strains, in particular the multidrug-

resistant (MDR) SA-1199B, which has a high level of resistance to certain fluoroquinolones. Also noteworthy is the potent activity demonstrated against EMRSA-15 and EMRSA-16, the major epidemic methicillin-resistant S. aureus strains occurring in U.K. hospitals. These activities compare highly favorably with the standard antibiotics for these strains.”

balance. It is important not to fall into a cycle of crash and recovery without healing the underlying issues and finding longterm balance. Changing your diet can have a significant impact on reducing the symptoms of adrenal fatigue. Eating foods

that nurture the kidneys and eating smaller more frequent meals. It’s important to avoid sugar, alcohol and highly salty foods. Jacinta recommends eating meals suited to your ayurvedic dosha, especially warming food and believes that a raw food diet can aggravate adrenal fatigue. She also recommends nourishing exercise like yoga and tai chi and proper supplementation. Healing practices like Restorative Yoga and meditation, as well as Pranayama, especially alternate nostril breathing and Yoga Nidra, are all highly beneficial to the nervous system, which will support the endocrine system. Adrenal fatigue is very much a Neuro-Endocrine imbalance and the more we can bring the body mind into a calm baseline, the better. It is recommended to go to bed early at the first wave of tiredness and to take nutritionally supplements that are specially prescribed

Conclusion: The Cannabis Plant is a Highly Evolved Organism

The authors of the study state that “everything points towards these compounds having been evolved by the plants as antimicrobial defenses that specifically target bacterial cells … “ which suggests that we need to find the answer to our problems in Nature, not in a laboratory, and further reinforces the idea that plants are incredible organisms upon which the literal survival of mankind depends. Clearly, the cannabis plant is a highly evolved organism if it has developed phytochecmials that can outwit and defeat antibiotic-resistant bacteria and the most virulent of superbugs. The authors conclude: “Given the availability of C. sativa

strains producing high concentrations of nonpsychotropic cannabinoids, this plant represents an interesting source of antibacterial agents to address the problem of multidrug resistance in MRSA and other pathogenic bacteria. This issue has enormous clinical implications, since MRSA is spreading throughout the world and, in the United States, currently accounts for more deaths each year than AIDS.” What better proof could there be of the utter backwardness of our world that marijuana is still classified by the US Government as a Schedule 1 drug (meaning it has “no currently accepted medical use” and “high potential for abuse”), yet it may hold the key for unwinding the devastating harm done to the world by Big Pharma and its antibiotic overuse?

The gift of adrenal fatigue

For many people, being stopped in their tracks by adrenal exhaustion can in some way be a positive thing, as it is indicating some area of their life that is out of balance. Addressing adrenal fatigue can often be the starting point for a wake up call to a deeper experience of life. It can force you to simplify your life and discover what is really important and valuable in life, such as love, forgiveness, peace, connection, contentment, gratitude, spirituality etc. “Adrenal Fatigue or any serious condition is not to be handled as possible with a quick fix. If you act this way, you may miss the greatest blessing of your life.” – Dr Lam

he veil of secrecy is being lifted

like never before in history. We are living in truly extraordinary times. The veil of secrecy is being lifted like never before in history. In this time of awakening, humankind is drawing back the mask and emerging as a truly special species. In a very small amount of time, but particularly in the past few years, more people than ever have broken free from the matrix-paradigm of religion and dogma into a new one based on free-thought and unity. Interest in alternative medicine, media and expanded worldview has completely exploded since the 2012/2013 period of the end of the Mayan calendar and the beginning of the Snowden revelations. Both of these events and more have served as spiritual and intellectual alarm clocks for many people on the planet. The emergence of more intriguing and intrusive technologies has also served to spark the big questions for people. Who are we? Why are we here? What is reality anyway, and why is it that about 8 billion of us have been placed here on this planet at this time? The answer to that question varies depending on your particular belief system (or lack thereof, ed.), but one thing is certain: we’re here to make things right for the future (and maybe even in the Now. ed, again). However, certain power interests have a different idea.

The Bamboozle

It’s hard for the average, good-willed person to imagine how someone might behave when given such power and privilege over the rest of the population. They say that power corrupts, and in the eyes of the global elite the goal is power and power alone. If you take a look at the history of ‘power-men’ and women, you will find an alarming amount of well-documented information that paints a much more sinister picture than the one created by the mainstream media and education system. One example would be Operation Northwoods, and an early 1960’s Department of Defense (DoD) document outlines the plan for provoking a war with Cuba by implementing terrorist attacks in the form of bombings and false flag attacks on American soil. This tactic of bait-andswitch been used for centuries to coerce the public into supporting wars they wouldn’t otherwise support. Also note the Gulf of Tonkin incident, of which Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara later admitted never occurred, and the summer of 2013 when Obama tried coercing the public into bombing Syria based on scant information about a chemical weapons attack that later ended up committed by U.S. funded rebels. It is important to understand that the elite use many methods to keep world events moving in their favor, and for that reason, here are four of the most insidious ways in which ‘the system’ is keeping us from awakening to the truth.

n 1. Information Warfare

Propaganda and the control of information is the very cornerstone of any type of totalitarianism. Without control of the narrative, it is very difficult to keep a population subservient to their masters at the top. This is the reason the first amendment of the united states specifically mentions a free press, because, democracy does not work without a free flow of truthful information. Think of it this way. If a government wants to implement something that

Page 23

double-blind verifiable info, and therefore, must not be true. However, our clearly conscious experience flies in the face of this belief. Because mainstream scientists won’t acknowledge it, our society is being taken in a direction that doesn’t honor free-will consciousness and important matters of the spirit, instead treating everything as purely material cause-andeffect relationships.

n 4. Social Engineering and Surveillance

4 Ways The System

Tries to Hold Us Back From Our Awakening ultimately isn’t good for the general public, then they will get backlash if they can’t figure out a way to convince them it will be good for them. You can see this most clearly in the endless ways we’re being coerced into war, but this comes up in all areas of society, particularly with technology, as is noted by recent efforts of the media to promote micro-chipping technology for children. For this reason, the media has been steadily brought under the control of those with an elitist mindset who don’t mind giving up human freedom for their moment in the sun. Below them falls the boot-lickers who are seemingly incapable of free thought; there to promote the ideas of the elite, however obvious it is to them that this is what they are doing.

n 2. Chemical Poisons and Genetic Manipulation

One of the most common things that people are ‘awake’ to at this time is the chemical and genetic poisoning of our environment and our bodies. Corporations like Monsanto are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this area. Many people are still becoming aware of the effects of things like fluoride, which has been proven by multiple Harvard studies as well as longstanding, peer-reviewed medical journals like Lancet, to be a very potent neurotoxin that is dumbing down not only children, but also the entirety of the population through its purposeful addition into the water supply. “Fluoride seems to fit in with lead, mercury, and other poisons that cause chemical brain drain… The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but the combined damage on a population scale can be serious, especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to all of us.” –Phillipe Grandjean, Professor of Environmental Health at Harvard University The list goes on to include MSG, aspartame, poor nutrition, mercury in flu shots, massively high levels of heavy metals like lead in drinking water, and of

course GMO’s, which are not only grossly untested for human consumption, but have also been found to change our DNA. As GMO technology becomes more sophisticated it is possible that genetic scientists can intentionally alter human DNA to create a more docile and obedient population with an incredibly tiny perception of the possible.

n Psychology, and The Cult of Scientism

However old, religion is still one of the top ways that the elite are controlling our perceptions. For centuries, the greatest ideas that much of the human population believed to exist came from one book called either the Bible or the Quran. However, this belief has morphed in the age of science, now, people believe things just because ‘science says’ it is true. But have you ever thought about what science really is? Science is a means to an end, a way to get a grasp on our surroundings so that we can better understand the world we are living in. Above that, though, a scientific mind is a mind of discovery and ideas. The problem isn’t “science” itself. The problem comes from the belief that science is a set of conclusions. But science is not a set of conclusions, it is a process – a way to check if something can be experienced more than once, like seeing something out of the corner of your eye and double-taking to find out of if what you saw was really there. However, in the same way that if you were moving very fast on a train and thought you saw something out of the window before you turned a corner and your chance was gone, you can’t always look back to find out if what you saw was really there on this never-ending train ride we call the human experience. In turn, the gap between what is possible or “true” and what binding conclusions scientists can draw is not necessarily going to come out the same. One of the best examples is consciousness, or the energetic awareness that drives your body, and the soul. Scientists largely dismiss the existence of the spirit, because it doesn’t exist in the realm of

Although most people are unaware, the prospect of social engineering by the elites goes back quite a long way, all the way back to the Frankfurt School and Tavistock Institute where it all began (at least for modern-day populations). For any who are unfamiliar, social engineering is the science of manipulating groups of people through the knowledge of social sciences and psychology. This is also the basic principle in which data collection companies operate. When you voluntarily or unwittingly give up information, you give up something that can not only be used against you in ways such as blackmail, but you’re giving up potential social engineering data as well. In 2014, Facebook was found to have been conducting experiments on unwitting users to find out whether or not their moods can be changed by the content they see in their news feeds. They displayed depressing images and posts to find out of that would in turn make people depressed, as measured by the content of their posts and reactions. Later, that study was found to have been linked to a DoD research project on civil unrest. “…emotions spread via contagion through a network…We felt that it was important to investigate the common worry that seeing friends post positive content leads to people feeling negative or left out…At the same time, we were concerned that exposure to friends’ negativity might lead people to avoid visiting Facebook. We didn’t clearly state our motivations in the paper.” – Adam Kramer, Social Scientist at Facebook This is another one of those instances where democracy falls to the dust. As the science becomes more fine-tuned, organizations beyond just Facebook, Twitter, or other social media organizations, such as the NSA or GCHQ could easily add inputs into people’s daily experience to get them to think or behave in a certain way. Without freedom of thought and communication, all other freedoms are in jeopardy. NSA Whistleblower William Binney has spoken out on the implications of mass surveillance, such as the chilling effect and how the feeling of being watched limits our behavior.

It Is Time To Free Your Mind In this time of awakening it’s important not to fall into a mindset of victimization. Although it may seem pretty grim when only looking at the negative, there are a whole lot of good things happening at this time as well.

istening to someone complain, even if it’s yourself, has never done anyone any good. Some people say that it may act as a catharsis, a way to let go of negative emotions and experiences, and maybe letting it all out once in a while does feel good, but taking a closer look at what complaining actually does to the brain gives us even more cause to strive for a positive frame of mind and cut out the complaining.

‘Synapses That Fire Together Wire Together’

The brain is a complex physical organ that somehow works in tandem with consciousness to create the personality of a human being, always learning, always re-creating and re-generating itself. It is both the product of reality and the creator of reality, and science is finally beginning to understand how the brain actually creates reality. Author, computer scientist and philosopher, Steven Parton, examined the ways in which negative emotions in the form of complaining, both expressed by the self and experienced from others, affect the brain and body, coming up with a number of keen observations that help us to understand why some people can’t seem to get out of a negative mood. His theory suggests that negativity and complaining actually physically alters the structure and function of the mind and body. “Synapses that fire together wire together,” says Parton, which is a concise way of understanding the essence of neuroplasticity,

From page 2 frequencies from the bases of DNA with a spectrophotometer. The spectrophotometer is an analytical instrument that measures the intensity of light as a function of its wavelength. When Deamer sent infrared light through a base molecule of DNA, it was absorbed at certain frequencies. This was plotted as bands of a wavenumber across a spectrum, and then converted to hertz. This put (some of) the music within the human audible spectrum. It was found to be microtonal. A microtone, for those who are not musicians, are sounds that are not on the traditional whole tone and half tone scale. In Western music, in fact, on many of our instruments, you can only play whole or half tones. Unless you were to pluck the strings of a piano on the inside, you can play C or C#, but you cannot play all the tones that occur between those two notes. This does not mean that they are not still there. Charles Ives, a famous piano composer did it, but it is not common, as the piano has to be tuned in an unconventional manner. A sitar player, however; trained in classical Indian music will play hundreds of microtones in a singular piece. Microtonal sound may be the secret to mantra’s and Gregorian chants used to uplift the consciousness and heal the body in times past. According to Brian T. Collins, a musician and researcher, the standard pitch (A=440 Hz) does not harmonize on any level that corresponds to cosmic movement, rhythm, or natural vibration. The greatest musicians, such as Mozart and Verdi, based their music on the natural vibration of A=432. It’s true

Science Explains How

Complaining is Negatively Altering Your Brain

the science of how the brain re-wires itself based on whatever it is repetitively exposed to. Negativity and complaining breeds more of the same, as this theory points out. Parton explains further: “The principle is simple: Throughout your brain there is a collection of synapses separated by empty space called the synaptic cleft. Whenever you have a thought, one synapse shoots a chemical across the cleft to another synapse, thus building a bridge over which an electric signal can cross, carrying along its charge the relevant information you’re thinking about. … Every time this electrical charge is triggered, the synapses grow closer together in order to decrease the distance the electrical charge has to cross…. The brain is rewiring its own circuitry, physically changing itself, to make it easier and more likely that the proper synapses will share the chemical link and thus spark together–in essence, making it easier for the thought to trigger.” Furthermore, his understanding of this process includes the idea that the electrical connections most utilized by the brain will become shorter, and therefore more frequently chosen for use by the brain. This is how one’s

personality is altered. However, as conscious beings, we have the power to affect this process, simply by being aware of how the universal play of duality is at work in the nascent moments of thoughts. We have the power to choose to generate thoughts from the consciousness of love, over fear, thereby ensuring that the brain and personality are positively altered.

Empathy & the Mob Effect

There is more to this action than just the effect that complaining has on the self. This line of scientific reasoning extends to the dynamics between two-people, giving scientific understanding of how one’s complaining brings other people down. Mirror-neurons ensure that we learn from our environment, and are the essential biochemical element of empathy. The brain relates to what another person is expressing, and the empathic portion of ourselves responds by ‘trying on’ this emotion as an attempt to relate to and understand the externally unfolding drama. So, when a person enters and drops a huge boatload of gossip, negativity and drama on you, you can be assured that it is affecting you bio-chemically, and is decreasing your chances of actually being happy. Exposure to

this kind of emotional outburst actually causes stress, and because stress kills, complaining and negativity may seriously be contributing to your early demise. Parton refers to this outlook as ‘the science of happiness,’ and the example of the behavior of complaining does make a fitting case study for the connection between the power of thought and the amount of control a person can exert on the creation of our shared, three-dimensional reality. The overall view of this is even further condensed, rather precisely, by Parton: “…if you’re always complaining and belittling your own power in reality, you will not think you have the power to change it. And thus it will never change.”

that it is only 8 vibrations per second different from the standard tuning, but this small difference seems to be remarkable to our human consciousness. For example, A=432 Hz, known as Verdi’s ‘A’ is an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. Music based on 432Hz transmits beneficial healing energy, such that it is a pure tone of math fundamental to nature. The slightest variations to pitch can therefore, plausibly cause deterioration of life, or heal it. In ancient Vedic knowledge, microtones were known as shrutis. Some who have been trained to hear microtones (since they are not often taught in Western music) say that one octave contains 22 shrutis or microtones, others say there are an infinite number. All are simply a sound oscillation, beginning from silence of sound, which then reaches its peak and slowly ‘decays’ to reach its original dormant state. The very name of the heart chakra, is in fact ‘unstruck note’ when translated from San-

skrit. When sound emanates from the benevolent Universe, starting from its dormant or feminine state, and expands into its material or male state, there are layers of organization along the way. We are the instruments of the Cosmos. Friedrich Nietzsche said, “Life without music would be a mistake,” but there are no mistakes, because we ARE music. “In the beginning was the word, and the word was sound.” The very first sentence of the bible explains the phenomenon of music in the Universe, and how matter is formed. We are the instruments upon which this sound is made in manifest reality. This means we can make a ‘joyful noise’ and experience tremendous beauty and perfect health, or produce a distorted version of the ego, which falsely believes it is apart from the creation of Universal Sound. Every single molecule of matter in this reality is the energy of God manifesting in different beautiful ways. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but the music of God is played out through us – dependent upon our consciousness. If you don’t like the music that is playing, simply change the tune. “Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really

the divine in themselves. Giving a lift to those who can benefit from our help, whatever their walk of life, whatever their failings or seeming faults – that is a fundamental expression of service to humanity which we are bound to put into action. For in the end that person and us are unified in our struggle, sharing the same emotional pulls, needs and internal and external agonies and ecstasies Is there not one great pool of conscious-

ness in which all we ‘human’ beings find shared commonality? And isn’t it imperceptibly rising at this very time? Are not the walls of ‘difference’ steadily breaking down? For, at the centre of this pool of consciousness, is the cyclic mysterious ferment that has no observable life or death, but just an ever expanding IS. And that is where we are heading at the completion of our temporal physical existence on planet Earth. And that is where we all came from ‘once upon a time’.

That eternal, supreme and boundless state; at once all time and at once no time. That is what death has in store for us. Rejoice in this, a great initiation indeed! Julian is a writer, farmer, actor and international activist. Find out about his acclaimed books by clicking here www.julianrose.info

harles R. Attwood is a well-respected vegetarian doctor who at one point owned and operated one of the most lucrative pediatric clinics in the United States. His practice was so successful that he began writing about the achievements in articles published in the Medical Economics Magazine. The physician eventually penned a book entitled, Dr. Attwood’s Low-Fat Prescription Diet for Kids, leading him on a nationwide book tour that unbeknownst to him would change his career path forever. “You may ask, ‘Why leave a million dollar practice to go on the road and promote this new lifestyle?’ The answer may surprise you. While researching my book, it dawned upon me that the greatest health risk of my patients was not the ear infections, colds, strep throats and allergies that so filled my daily office schedule,” said Attwood in a second book entitled, A Vegetarian Doctor Speaks Out.

A plant-based diet is the key to longevity, says vegetarian doctor

“The real health risk for children, as well as their parents and grandparents, is a group of preventable, but fatal, chronic diseases. Heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes would account for the adult premature deaths of 75 percent of the children in my waiting room. The same was true of their families. And I knew that it was all basically preventable.” Attwood says he felt empowered during his book tour to share his knowledge on certain causes of chronic disease. “Though many people would read my book, something very special seemed to happen when I stood before a group of people to lecture on the life-saving benefits of proper nutrition for them and their children. “Their attention seemed to be riveted on what I was saying. I felt that I was passing something on to them, over and above what they may have read in my books and essays.”

lead to chronic diseases responsible for early death increasingly at risk from a steady diet of meat and dairy products.” Attwood says that by sharing his knowledge about the cause-and-effect relationship of certain lifestyle factors and the risk for early death, his students would become part of this journey and go on to share that information with people around the world. The physician maintains that “a plant-based diet is necessarily a part of the ultimate lifestyle for a long and fulfilled life.” “A plant-based diet is really very simplified calculations. The vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes do it all for you. There’s no need to count calories, grams of fat or protein, or worry about vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or phytochemicals. “They’re all there, along with nutrients that have not yet been named, or even discovered, in the proper amounts, not too much, not too little. When you eat more fruits and vegetables to get more beta-carotene, you not only increase your intake of the other antioxidants, but you also get other protective substances that have not yet been fully studied,” writes Attwood.

Young children with high cholesterol levels

Attwood recalls an impacting moment in his career when he observed something incredibly rare. He was a med student at the time, performing his very first autopsy on a 9-year-old girl who had died from bacterial meningitis. Upon opening up her heart, he noticed a visible yellow streak in the interior wall of the artery. His professor clearly pointed out that it was cholesterol and that finding it in a child of that age was extremely rare – so rare that the “specimen

my website, and I encourage you to read up on these EMF shielding devices that release powerful vibratory frequencies. An excerpt on the metaphysical properties of Orgonite, from Tracy Mitchell’s article in Live Well Today, is as follows: “The word Orgone represents the idea of Universal energy: the vibrational makeup of all living and non-living things. It is a conscious substance, though mainly unseen, that is always within and without, [enlivening] life…Wilhelm Reich thoughtfully created constructs that were composed of alternating organic and inorganic materials that caused energy to build and accumulate. In turn, it would affect an individual and their environment in a multitude of positive ways…The Orgone devices emanate a conscious power and vitality”. Consciousness exterior to the self is another reoccurring topic for me lately. Last month, Fredalupe and I were advised to check out a certain documentary. We had been enjoying a meal and decided to turn it on. What followed next was something so entirely mind-blowing that my appetite was thrown, and my sleep that evening was disturbed. We learned something about the history of our world, that if true, is so devastating that all preconceived notions of a tree, a mountain, a volcano, and a desert, can be cleared from our consciousness and replaced with an unfathomable truth that could make you sick to your stomach. Check out our Help Yourself Videos on page 26, and next month’s feature story for more. That discovery, coupled with the book that coincidentally fell into my lap, “The

was later added to the school’s collection of medical rarities.” But Attwood would later learn that the condition wasn’t so rare after all. “At that same time, unknown to all of us, autopsies were finding far greater deposits of fat in the arteries of the majority of American soldiers killed in Korea, their average age was twenty-one.” More evidence appeared in a leading medical journal, but was still ignored by doctors, says Attwood. “When the same findings were reported fifteen years later, during the Vietnam War, again, it was hardly noticed. Here, their Asian counterparts were also examined and found to have clean arteries.” The results of a 25-year study would soon shed light on the phenomenon. The Bogalusa Heart Study found that children who consume “a typical American diet have fatty deposits in their coronary arteries by age three. “By age twelve, when most are entering junior high school, 70 percent have coronary fatty deposits. The deposits become much thicker and complex by the mid-teens, and virtually every adult has them by the age of twenty-one.” Attwood says the high cholesterol was caused by a diet high in saturated fat and animal proteins, thus contributing to the preventable rise in early death. Following a plant-based diet is much easier when you grow your own food, because you can sleep peacefully knowing that it’s chemical free and therefore more nutritious.

Secret Life of Plants”, by Peter Tompkins, has implications so severe, they’re nearly incomprehensible in words. In order to devise the perfect delivery of this new (to us) information, we will spend this month acquiring all the necessary research to expose this case. Surely our October issue is one you won’t want to miss. How did I make it this long without ever having encountered Tompkins’ groundbreaking novel, I wonder. I often contemplate the nature of consciousness, insofar as, well, where do you draw the line? I knew plants were sensitive and intelligent beings, but having emotions, memories, even telepathy? The most basic observation, perhaps even the thesis of these tests and research,

is that “the empathy between plant and human is the key” (Tompkins, 42). Without this, their experiments would have utterly failed. The notion of consciousness down to the cellular, even molecular, level is so entirely fascinating I quiver at the possibilities of its significance. This and much more to think about, as we approach the Autumnal Equinox: Mabon, my most favourite time of year. I wish you all grand celestial celebrations this month, and a warm welcome back to whatever it is that beckons. Find your balance and get back to nature, I say. I know I will. — By Haley Nagasaki

Oil Pulling: An Ayurveda Perspective By Todd Caldecott dogwoodbotanical.com

O

ne of the newer health trends that has people talking is a practice called ‘oil-pulling’. Of course it’s not a new practice at all, but comes from the ancient practices of Āyurveda, a 5000-year-old medical system that originated in India. Although I have been familiar with the practice for more than two decades, I first started to hear the term ‘oil-pulling’ after the publication of a book called Oil Pulling Therapy: Detoxifying and Healing the Body Through Oral Cleansing. Although I haven’t read the book I have heard that it and others were making the claim that oil-pulling could resolve all kinds of health issues including high blood pressure, arthritis, liver disease, and cancer. But is this true? Oil-pulling is part of the daily regimen in Āyurveda, called dinacaryā (di-na-charyaa), performed during the morning ablutions

Page 28

to cleanse and purify the body. To cleanse the mouth specifically, Āyurveda suggests a number of techniques that can be used on a daily basis, including ‘tongue-scraping’ (jihvānirlekhana) and ‘cleaning the teeth’ (dañtadhāvana): oil-pulling is one among several techniques. But the term ‘oil-pulling’ invented by proponents doesn’t actually represent the entire scope of practice. Called gaṇḍūṣa (gan-doo-sha) and kavalagraha (kavala-graha), the practice of oil-pulling is comprised of filling the mouth with oil (gaṇḍūṣa) and swishing it through the teeth (kavalagraha). For gaṇḍūṣa the mouth is completely filled with a prescribed medication, and then held without expectoration for some time. According to the 6th century physician Vāgbhaṭa, there are four categories of gaṇḍūṣa based upon the clinical manifestations of the bodily humors or doṣaḥ: snigdha (‘lubricating’, to reduce dryness and deficiency) śamśana

(‘pacifying’, to reduce inflammation) śodhana (‘purifying’, to reduce congestion and mucus) ropaṇa (‘healing’, for ulceration and wounds) (Sū 22:2-3). Although oil is often used, a large number of medications can be used in gaṇḍūṣa depending on the indications, including warm water, fats and oils, milk, fermented gruels (śukta, dhānyāmla), wines, meat soup, herbal decoctions, honey, and alkalis (kṣāra) diluted with water. For daily application, the most commonly used medication is unrefined, cured sesame oil (taila), but other oils such as ghee (ghṛta) or coconut can be used as well. The effects of each oil differ slightly: sesame oil: reduces dryness and mucus coconut oil: reduces dryness and inflammation ghee: reduces dryness and inflammation. To perform gaṇḍūṣa, approximately 2-3 tablespoons or more of the medication is held in the mouth for several minutes, until saliva is produced or the nose or eyes become secretory, after which time the medication is spit out. Usually this only takes 3-5 minutes at most. Sesame oil is naturally antimicrobial, and given its lipid-soluble nature, it penetrates into the gums and below the gum line to inhibit the growth of oral bacteria. Apart from its antimicrobial effects, gaṇḍūṣa with sesame oil also lubricates the mouth and the jaw, and is effective for problems such as gingivitis, periodontitis, receding gums, dry mouth (xerostomia), temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain, earache, headache, coryza, pharyngitis and narcolepsy. Like sesame oil, there are similar benefits for both coconut oil and ghee, although these oils are more nutritive and pacifying, rather than purifying. Coconut oil contains a short chain fatty acid called caprylic acid (octanoic acid) that has specific anti-fungal properties, making it useful for oral thrush (candidiasis). Similar to gaṇḍūṣa is kavalagraha, in which a smaller amount of medication such as sesame oil is taken and then moved about the mouth, pulling it through the teeth and gargling in the back of the throat. This is what people are mostly referring to when discussing ‘oil-pulling’. Performing kavalagraha with warm water is said to alleviate mucus congestion, promote digestion, and eliminate ‘toxins’ (āma). For hoarseness or sore throat, a variety of preparations can be used, including Indian herbs such as the fresh juice of Brāhmī or a decoction of Bibhītaka fruit. Western herbs such as Sage (Salvia officinalis), Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), Purple Coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia) or Toothache flower (Acmella oleracea) can also be helpful, used as the

diluted tinctures. I frequently use these diluted tinctures in the treatment of problems such as gum disease, throat infection, tonsillitis, and tonsiliths (tonsil stones). I recommend the use of both gaṇḍūṣa and kavalagraha in my practice on a regular basis, changing up the ingredients as required.

Sometimes I recommend the use of an oil, sometimes not. This is why the term ‘oilpulling’ does not do justice to the original scope of practice. As well, the abundant claims made for the benefit of oil-pulling border on the absurd. This is a technique used primarily for cleaning the oral cavity, and while it does have some systemic benefit, the claim that oil-pulling can resolve serious diseases such as cancer or heart disease is irresponsible. As a practitioner of Āyurveda it is my duty to support and uphold its practices, but at the same time, it’s important to address what are clearly exaggerated claims to protect the integrity of its practices. In a similar fashion, I frequently hear that one should perform oil-pulling for 20 minutes or more at a time. Quite frankly, this is another silly statement, and is not reflective of traditional practices. Swishing oil around in your mouth for too long could cause you to accidentally aspirate (breathe in) some of the oil, and that isn’t so good for your lungs. For most purposes, 3-10 minutes should be enough. Hopefully this clears up some misconceptions around the practice of ‘oil-pulling’, and provides a more coherent approach to using this venerable technique. ***** Todd Caldecott has been in practice as a medical herbalist and practitioner of Ayurveda for two decades. multi-tiered building. Each level of the building is built upon the scientific foundation provided by the supporting lower levels. Each floor of the building is distinguished as a scientific subspecialty. The foundation for the “Science” building is math. Upon math is assembled the building’s second level, physics. Built upon physics is chemistry, the building’s third level. Chemistry serves as the platform for the fourth tier, biology. Built upon biology is the building’s fifth and current top floor, psychology.

First Floor: A Foundation of Fractals and Chaos Fundamental to this new noetic curriculum is the foundation offered by math. Mathematical laws are absolute, certain, and indisputable. For centuries those laws have been used to isolate and divide the universe into separate measurable components. Future science will be built upon an emerging new math that emphasizes the disciplines of fractal geometry and chaos theory.

Fractal earth Future science will be built upon an emerging new math that emphasizes the disciplines of fractal geometry and chaos theory Fractals are a modern version of geometry, officially defined in 1983 by IBM scientist Benoit Mandelbrot. They are actually a simple mathematics based upon an equation involving addition and multiplication, in which the result is entered back into the original equation and solved again. Repetition of the equation inherently provides for a geometry expressing self-similar objects that appear at higher or lower levels of the equation’s magnitude. Organization at any level of nature, like nested Russian dolls, reflects a self-similar pattern to organization found at higher or lower levels of reality. For example, the structure and behavior of a human cell is self-similar to the structure and behavior of a human, which in turn is self-similar to the structure and behavior of humanity. In short, “As above, so below.” Fractal geometry emphasizes

anxiety in Britain. Prescriptions for antidepressants are up from 33.8 million in 2007 to 50.2 million in 2012. Job insecurity, financial pressures and attachment to technology all play their part. People work longer hours, worry more and sleep less.

Mindfulness Movement

The intention of Basic Meditation is to trick the mind into releasing itself, trick the mind into giving the thinking apparatus a rest, so that we can realize our Higher Selves, our essential oneness with whatever we consider to be divine. On the other hand, the intention of Mindfulness Meditation is secular; namely, to train the mind, in the same way that we would lift weights to strengthen a muscle, to be able to concentrate -- and avoid weakly wandering around on autopilot -- for longer and longer periods of time. As opposed to “zoning out,” Mindfulness Meditation is like “zoning in” on whatever phenomenon or phenomena we choose to zone in on. We consciously focus our attention upon designated and specific thoughts or sensations that arise in our field of awareness and observe them non-judgmentally - maybe even label them. Thus, there are countless types of Mindfulness Meditations because we can choose to focus our attention on seemingly infinite phenomena. Mindfulness is gaining a growing popularity as a practice in daily life, apart from Bud-

that the observable physical universe is derived from the integration and interconnectivity of all of its parts. Rather than endorsing a Darwinian evolution based upon random mutations and a struggle for survival, fractal geometry reveals that the biosphere is a structured cooperative venture comprised of all living organisms. Instead of invoking competition as a means of survival, the new view of nature is one driven by cooperation among species living in harmony with their physical environment. We must own that every human being counts, for each is a member of a single organism. When we war, we are warring against ourselves.

dos that are constantly popping into and out of existence. Atoms as energy fields interact with the full spectrum of invisible energy fields that comprise the universe, intimately entangled with one another and the field in which they are immersed.

Humanity

Quantum entanglement

Every human being counts, for each is a member of a single organism Through mathematical equations, fractal geometry derives structures resembling those of the natural world, such as mountains, clouds, plants, and animals. The dynamics of those fractal structures are directly influenced by chaos theory, a math that is concerned with the nature by which small changes may cause unexpected final effects. Chaos theory defines the processes by which the flap of a butterfly’s wing in Asia may influence the formation of a tornado in Oklahoma. When chaos theory is combined with fractal geometry, the math further predicts the behavioral dynamics observed in our physical reality, from weather patterns to human physiology, from social patterns to market prices on the stock exchange.

Second Floor: Energy Physics A century ago, a group of creative minorities launched a radical new view of how the universe works. Albert Einstein, Max Planck, and Werner Heisenberg, among others, formulated new theories concerning the underlying mechanics of the universe. Their work on quantum mechanics revealed that the universe is not an assembly of physical parts as suggested by Newtonian physics but is derived from a holistic entanglement of immaterial energy waves. Quantum mechanics shockingly reveals that there is no true “physicality” in the universe; atoms are made of focused vortices of energy-miniature torna-

dhist insight meditation and its application in clinical psychology. In this context mindfulness is defined as moment-by-moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, characterized mainly by “acceptance” - attention to thoughts and feelings without judging whether they are right or wrong. Mindfulness focuses the human brain on what is being sensed at each moment, instead of on its normal rumination on the past or on the future. Mindfulness fosters compassion and altruism: Research suggests mindfulness training makes us more likely to help someone in need and increases activity in neural networks involved in understanding the suffering of others and regulating emotions. Evidence suggests it might boost self-compassion as well. Constant stimulation offered by mobile devices -- the average person checks their phone every six-and-a-half minutes -- keeps us permanently alert, affecting our ability to concentrate, form memories and relax. If anxiety is the modern malaise, perhaps mindfulness is the cure.

Unfortunately, the more science invests in a particular path, the more difficult it is for science to let go of beliefs that keep it on that path.

Atoms as energy fields interact with the full spectrum of invisible energy fields that comprise the universe A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the “observer creates the reality. “As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality! Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a nonmechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter… we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter.” — R. C. Henry, “The Mental Universe” Nature 436:29, 2005 Although quantum mechanics was acknowledged eighty years ago as the best scientific description of the mechanisms creating our universe, most scientists rigidly cling to the prevailing matter-oriented world-

view simply because it “seems” to make better sense out of our existence. To grapple with the contradictions, the majority of physicists have chosen an easy way out: they restrict quantum theory’s validity to the subatomic world. Renowned theoretical physicist David Deutsch wrote: “Despite the unrivalled empirical success of quantum theory, the very suggestion that it may be literally true as a description of nature is still greeted with cynicism, incomprehension, and even anger.” — T. Folger, “Quantum Shmantum” Discover 22:37-43, 2001

SubatomicSubatomic particles However, quantum laws must hold at every level of reality. We can no longer afford to ignore that fact. We must learn that our beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes about the world create the world. Recently, Johns Hopkins physicist professor R. C. Henry suggested that we “get over it” and accept the inarguable conclusion: “The universe is immaterial – mental and spiritual.” — R. C. Henry “The Mental Universe”

hat is the difference between awareness and consciousness? How are the two concepts interlinked? Keep reading to find out about the hidden secrets of the universe! Imagine yourself in the middle of a forest, being chased by a bear. The rustling of leaves behind you burgeons your pace, causing a much needed adrenaline rush. As you run across the landscape, you search for possible escapes. You are aware of the trees, and the animal life in your vicinity (imagine the forest sounds), but you’re conscious about a possible, untimely end to the journey of your life. And before the bear catches up, let’s snap back to reality and ward off the threat! Simply put, bring aware and being conscious are two extremely different concepts, even though both words seem to have the same connotation in language. Here is a little insight about the two concepts that’ll help you differentiate with ease.

Being Aware

It is like those announcements you hear on media. For instance, a hurricane is headed towards the city. While you know what is out there and you’re factually aware that it exists, there’s little you can do to explain where it is, whether it’ll strike or not, how much damage it will cause, and so on and so forth. “Being Aware” essentially has a tangible, physically related expression. You are aware of the fact that consuming too much sugar/carbohydrates can lead to obesity, diabetes and other diseases. You are aware that anything you do might have an impact on your loved one’s life. You are aware of your realities, primarily because of factors like sensations, perceptions, cognitive abilities, and knowledge. You know what is, but you don’t know how it may or may not be related to your life!

Consciousness From page 29

Third Floor: Vibrational Chemistry

Consciousness VS Awareness What’s the Big Difference?

Being aware does not necessarily equate with being conscious. This brings us to the other part of the equation.

out for an escape. This blurs out your perception of non-related elements, enabling you to focus exclusively on certain, sought aspects.

Being Conscious

How Knowledge Influences Awareness & Consciousness

In every sense of the words, being conscious has a lot to do with being spiritual. It refers to that degree of awareness where the physical world no longer obstructs your understanding. It is about being aware of the metaphysical world, where spiritual interactions and learning takes place beyond the tangible experiences. Being conscious has a lot more depth than being merely being aware. Awareness is considered a prerequisite for consciousness. You can’t be conscious about something if you’re unaware of it in the first place. As in the example we started off with, you were aware about everything in your surroundings, but you were consciously looking

the Language of Cells” Trends in Biochemical Sciences 14:89, 1989).

Fourth Floor: The New Biology

Spinning vortices

Traditional biology, like traditional chemistry, has also been investigated using a reductionist philosophy — organisms are dissected into cells, and cells into molecular parts-to gain understanding of how they work. The new curriculum perceives of cells and organisms as integrated communities that are physically and energetically entangled within their environment. The new biological holism endorses James Lovelock’s hypothesis that the Earth and the biosphere represent a single living and breathing entity known as Gaia. The study of Gaian physiology, emphasizing the participation and integration of all the Earth’s organisms, would reacquaint us with our connection to the planet and to our ancient role as the Garden’s caretakers.

Atoms are made of spinning immaterial energy vortices Vibrational chemistry defines the mechanisms that mediate the mind-body connection. The body is structurally derived from over a hundred thousand different protein molecules. Proteins change shape in response to signals- harmonic vibrations in the field. The collective movement of proteins generates the behaviors we observe as “life.” Life-controlling signals originate from both physical chemicals and immaterial energy waves. The energy-protein interface is the junction of the mind-body connection. Via a process called electro-conformational coupling, protein behaviors can be influenced by neural vibrational fields derived from conscious processes (T. Y. Tsong,“Deciphering

A noetic biology will also embrace the power of epigenetics. Epigenetics, which literally translates as “control above the genes,” a newly recognized second genetic code that controls the activity and programming of an organism’s DNA. This new hereditary mechanism reveals how behavior and gene activity are controlled by an organism’s perception of its environment. The fundamental difference between the old DNA genetic code and the new epigenetics is that the former notion endorses genetic determinism-the belief that genes predetermine and control our physiological and behavioral traits-while epigenetics recognizes that our perceptions

While conventional chemistry has focused on the atomic elements as miniature Newtonian solar systems composed of solid electrons, protons, and neutrons, vibrational chemistry, based upon quantum mechanics, emphasizes that atoms are made of spinning immaterial energy vortices, such as quarks. The new chemistry is concerned with the role of vibration in creating molecular bonds and driving molecular interactions. Energy fields, such as those derived from cell phones or from thoughts, interact with and influence chemical reactions.

Page 30

Garden Participation and integration of all the Earth’s organisms

As the wise people say, “Knowledge is power!” It is the starting point of a revolution, the beginning of awareness and consciousness. For the most part, you are free to decide whether you’d like to be aware and conscious or not. Your free choice plays a pivotal role in defining your destiny. Knowledge makes you aware of your worldly realities, in turn making you conscious about a higher calling, a bigger purpose. Nothing happens without a reason, and the moment you decide to question and reason out your realities is when you become truly conscious! It is a chain of realization that begins with your

of the environment, including our consciousness, actively control our genes. Through epigenetic mechanisms, applied consciousness can be used to shape our biology and make us “masters” of our own lives.

Fifth Floor: Energy Psychology Holistic revisions in the supporting sciences of physics, chemistry, and biology provide for a radically remodeled fifth tier, psychology. For centuries, our materialistic perspective dismissed the immaterial mind and consciousness as an epiphenomenon of the mechanical body. We perceived that the action of genes and neurochemicals-the hardware of the central nervous system-were responsible for our behaviors and our dysfunctions. The foundation of quantum mechanics, vibrational chemistry, and epigenetic control mechanisms, however, provide for a profound new understanding of psychology: The environment along with the perceptions of the mind controls behavior and the genetics of biology. Rather than being “programmed” by our genes, our lives are controlled by our perceptions of life experiences!

Genes Rather than being “programmed” by our genes, our lives are controlled by our perceptions of life experiences The switch from Newtonian to quantum mechanics changes the focus of psychology from physiochemical mechanisms to the role of energy fields. Energy psychology would focus on the software of programming consciousness rather than the physiochemical hardware that mechanistically expresses behavior. Energy psychology directly impacts subconscious programming rather than trying to manipulate

worldly learning. You make better decisions when you are aware, but you make the best ones when you are conscious. If you willfully chose to give up your abilities, you unconsciously choose to be a part of someone else’s purpose. You share your fate will all those who consciously renounce their rights, eventually becoming a part of someone else’s journey! Knowledge, awareness and consciousness influence your life in three ways: n Application: You apply your knowledge, actively deciding the particulars of intervention. You know something is good or bad, so you’re in a better position to decide whether or not you should integrate it in your life. For instance, excess sugars are bad and can cause diseases. It enables you to make a well-informed decision regarding your lifestyle. This is where you gain awareness. n Discernment: Based on what you know, you can judge what is and isn’t. This enables you to discover and pursue options. If sugars are bad, you can figure out healthier alternatives to it. This is where you use your awareness to become responsible, being on the verge of consciousness. You begin to question your knowledge. n Connection: Questioning gets you closer to consciousness. You begin to see the reason behind everything, which helps you connect with your purpose of existence. In other words, it is a level of complete awareness. As your level of awareness rises, your vibrational frequency increases, enabling you to protect yourself against negativities and to see beyond typical boundaries. It is where you become conscious — about yourself, your realities, your purpose, and the higher calling!

genetics, physiology, and behavior. This new understanding will also help parents to recognize the power that fundamental perceptions have on programming the subconscious mind. This recognition can then lead to developmental experiences that will enhance the health, intelligence, and happiness of our children.

Penthouse: Noetic Science, A View from the Top Such renovations to each floor of traditional science not only strengthen the building but also support a new tier, an allencompassing field known as noetic science. Noetic science emphasizes that the structure of the universe is made in the image of its underlying field. The physical character of atoms, proteins, cells, and people are controlled by immaterial energies that collectively form that field. The cellular community comprising each human responds to a unique spectrum of the universe’s energy field. This unique spectrum, referred to by many as soul or spirit, represents an invisible moving force that is in harmonic resonance with our physical bodies. This is the creative force behind the consciousness that shapes our physical reality. Noetic consciousness reveals that collectively we are the “field” incarnate. Each of us is “information” manifesting and experiencing a physical reality. Integrating and balancing the awareness of our noetic consciousness into our physical consciousness will empower us to become true creators of our life experiences. our potential, expression and willingness to make a difference. The true meaning of life is to serve others as much or more than ourselves for the sake of service. When we choose to exercise this opportunity, we instantly transform our experience into one of community, purpose and possibility.

In Purpose

Common Thread

Most of us live our lives in the absence of purpose. We have a tendency to throw havoc to the wind and see what returns to us. More often than not very little does, at least to our desire. Unfortunately, purpose isn’t primarily exercised let alone existent in our society. The very nature of reality does not support or sustain the extraordinary. Our personal focus depends solely upon the what, how and why of our experience. These are the crucial elements of our potential to empower our lives. When we bring purpose to every facet of our experience, we express creativity, consciousness, enlightenment and transformation.

T

here are over six billion unique interpretations of life in the three-dimensional construct we experience as reality. Although human beings have the popular inclination to gravitate toward a common one to which we are bound, our true vision and nature is one of remarkable multiplicity. We inevitably subject ourselves to inner and peripheral conditioning to toe the line of reality. We become social echoes for an engineered existence that is distorted, elusive, obscure and unconscious. Our desire for social amusement, comfort, identity, purpose and security significantly outweighs our quest to fulfill our being, creativity, destiny, love and truth.

The Truth of False Power

Foundation of Illusion

We are programmed to believe that our intelligence is the sole benefactor of our survival. Our insatiable fascination with ourselves and our place in the world distracts us from all that is sacred. Eventually, we exchange our passion to live with an addiction to buy. Our genuine experiences that empower and enrich us are superseded by virtual events recorded on a sales receipt. The measure of our fulfillment is in the quantity of our entertainment instead of the quality of our experience. Society turns on a worthless dime, promising a wealth of abundance, happiness and meaning, though rarely ever delivers.

Wired for Reason

We are multi-dimensional beings with eternal possibilities and infinite potential. Our indoctrination into the complex principles and structures of the standard reality conditions, hypnotizes and manipulates us into the human imprisonment of instinct, reaction and survival. We are akin to a clipper ship with unfastened sails, bouncing upon the social seas of happenstance. Our body and brain is our hardware and our software is a two-dimensional program of instinct and intellect. We are dependent upon and obliviously tethered to knowledge and logic, conditioned to be simulations in a paradigm of thought, threat and fear.

Playing the Angles

All of us are brainwashed and

spellbound by the multi-faceted filters of our own perceptions. We are frequently presented with opportunities to choose how we behold our experience of life. Most of us view the world through an elaborate tapestry of our analysis, fears, judgments, and wants. Rarely do we observe the world as it truly is. We see it the way we would like it to be. We live from these personal fantasies and push the agendas of our positions in the pursuit of making the common reality ever more comfortable, compliant or convenient to our own desires. We engage with an illusion of what is instead of its authenticity.

The World We Enable

Our personal power is in our creativity, compassion, consciousness, love and transformation. Yet, we express it most often with our drama, judgment, opinion and outrage. It isn’t that we are purely oblivious to our truth and purpose. We are products of the societal ethics to which we eagerly acquiesce. It seems easier to abandon our own unique experience, existence and perception as an inauthentic and noble sacrifice instead of claiming and living the life only we were meant. We are so powerful as human beings. Yet, we commit to killing our lives everyday with our denial, disinterest, doubt and obedience to the enslave-

ment of reality. “Lay down your right. Lay down your wrong. Lay down the lie. To which you belong.”

The Human God

The human invention of God we accept and are expected to believe is primarily one of judgment, vengeance and wrath. It is the fear beyond the myth that captivates our allegiance. The intoxication of this false power seduces us into emulation and imitation. Though we often fail to see the most glaring truth of this “divine” influence. The raw power of our unattended ego imposes an experience and perception of cynicism, resignation and ridicule for anything that is not of our own clever design. We adopt a defense of disapproval, drama, opinion and rumor rather than be present to the possibilities of acceptance, compassion and understanding.

Vital Signs

The medical field identifies the vitality of our existence by taking our pulse, analyzing our response to stimuli, observing our breath in different areas of our body and listening to our heart. When we meet these basic criteria, we are given a label of heath and an acknowledgment of life. Yet, the true measurement of living is found in

Each one of us has our own unique experience of life defined by our choices, the focus of our energy, the perception(s) we embrace and the destiny we fulfill. There is no one else in this world that could or should degrade, discredit, judge or question the authenticity, intent, meaning, and worth of our experiences. All who do simply endeavor to conceal or protect their own fears, inadequacies, insecurities and weaknesses. We have been raised in a social environment of defense that is of great peril to the coincidental targets of our expression. The force of the false power we project upon others ultimately diminishes the truth of our own.

Being Our Experience

There is nothing more significant in our life than who we are being. In a reality where being-ness has been swept under the proverbial rug of contemporary society, it is truly the only saving grace for the present and future of all. Who we are being creates, expresses and sustains the quality of our commitment. Our vision, empowerment, purpose and stand inspire how we truly live our lives. Of us it requires our creativity, confidence, courage and trust to manifest our greatest experience. Only through us will the power of our experience transcend the boundaries of reality and society and transform the world. “The greatest experiences we will ever have are the ones we choose to create.”
