Just A Note:

TDA is thankful for all of you! What a great year it has been so far, and we have so many of the exciting things left ahead of us. We are so proud of the growth in technique, maturity, and community that these dancers have made during the 2022-23 dance season. With recital still ahead of us in the season, there is a lot of recital information as well as info regarding what is needed for us to move forward into the 2023-24 dance season. Please read through the Newsletter thoroughly to get all of the information you need. As always, please email info@thedanceattic.com if you have any questions!

April Challenge Winner:

Congratulations to our April challenge winner Olivia Linder! It was so nice to see so many of dancers making memories and hitting 5th in so many cool locations! Check out the last page of the Newsletter for more of these special challenge images! Thanks for playing and congratulations on your win! You will see a $$$ surprise on your account!

Dancer Of the Month:

Each month TDA Staff chooses four dancers from all age groups to be the Dancers of the Month. These dancers are chosen based on their attitude and effort, and have all shown their instructors that they are hard workers with a good positive attitude. Each Dancer of the Month will get a sign to display in their front yard stating that they are the Dance Attic's dancer of the month as well as $10 off their tuition for the following month after returning their sign. You will be able to keep the sign for one month so that all of your neighbors can see it! This is great recognition for our dancers as well as getting the word out about our studio! You will receive your sign the first week of the month and return it the last week of the month.

Congratulations to our April recipients! We are so proud of you!

Registration Update:

The Dance Attic is very excited to have lots of you registered for the 2023-24 Dance Season. Below is a timeline of the process over the next few weeks. You will receive your schedules and placements for both Summer and Fall in Mid-May. Please Note that for Summer Classes, you will go to classes based off of your 2022-23 Class Placements.

• April 15th: All 2022-23 Registration Fees Processed for students who did not send courtesy email.

• May 1st: Last 2022-23 Recreational Tuition Charge Processed

• May 2nd: Parent Portal Shut Down for Staff to post Summer and Fall Class Schedules and Placements in each individual account.

• Mid May: Parent Portal Re-Opens with Class Placements and Schedules posted to your account. Obviously within the first week of schedules being released, we will have a lot of adjusting and corrections to be making for individuals as well as specific groups, so please remain patient with us as we make all necessary adjustments.

May 21st: Deadline to Complete THIS FORM to note what classes you would like REMOVED from both your Summer and Fall Schedules. Staff has placed every dancer in every style for both Summer and Fall, so you can make your class selections from that list. Please be reminded that Ballet and Jazz are both required classes for any dancer registered in the fall.

Summer Schedule: CLICK HERE to access the tentative 2023 TDA Summer Schedule – This is tentative and subject to change based on enrollment.

Fall Schedule: The Fall Schedule will be released in Mid-May with our Portal Re-Opening.

Class Placements: Once you regain access to your parent portal after staff makes updates and changes, all students and families will have access to their dancers’ class placements and schedules for the upcoming Summer and Fall Season. Please remember that Summer Placements will go based off of your 2023-24 Placements. TDA Staff has viewed and recognized growth in dancers and placed dancers in the appropriate classes for each style regardless of what the class number or title may be. We look forward to a great season ahead!

Pointe Placements: If you are interested in Pointe Class, you will let us know on the Class Selection Form linked above. Once we review the forms and look at what dancers are interested in potentially adding Pointe to their schedule, our ballet instructors will discuss placement and inform those who need to come in for a placement class for decision to be made. If you have previously been on pointe and are wanting to continue in the class, once you have completed the form, we will add the appropriate pointe class to your schedule in Jackrabbit.

Recital Tickets

For Recital this year we will be using a new online system to purchase and distribute tickets. Please know that there will be no physical tickets this year and all tickets (including comp tickets) will go through our online system. Please note the auditorium holds 500, so tickets will be first come first serve. We are trying to pre-sale all tickets before recital to help with flow and organization. Below you will find more detailed information on how to purchase and access your tickets. As we are organizing tickets, we want to let you know that this the 2023 Recital will be the last time we will distribute complimentary tickets for recitals. We have many families who don’t use the tickets and the tracking of number of seats available gets difficult for us to track.

Complimentary Tickets:

Each family receives two free comp tickets to the show/s that their dancer is in. Families do not have access to selecting comp tickets on the website as The Dance Attic is responsible for assigning those tickets to each family. Comp tickets will be redeemed at each Recital and will be listed under the dancer's name. Ticket staff will be available to assist you with this process at all Recitals. Any tickets needed beyond the two free comp tickets will need to be purchased through our online system. When looking at the ticket leap it will show that the COMP Tickets are SOLD OUT. This is because we have already pre assigned the tickets to you, and you don’t have any access or need to access the comp tickets. No shows are sold out and there are plenty of tickets available to all shows at this time.

Purchasing Tickets:

Please follow the steps below to purchase tickets for your dancer’s recital show/s.

Step 1: CLICK THIS LINK TO PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS TODAY!

Step 2: Click the button that says "Get Tickets"

Step 3: Choose the quantity of tickets you would like to purchase in addition to your two free comp tickets per the show you would like to attend. You can purchase tickets to any of the four shows in one transaction.

Step 4: Select the button that says "Add to Cart"

Step 5: Follow the instructions to add your card information, and complete your transaction and check out.

Step 6: You will receive a confirmation email soon after your transaction is complete with your ticket QR Code. You will present your tickets to the TDA Ticket Staff at Recital.

Recital Merchandise:

Those of you who pre-ordered Recital Programs & T Shirts will receive those in a bag with all pre-ordered merchandise prior to recital. Parents be on the lookout for an email on when those items will be ready for pick up/pass out. At the recital venue is where you will pick up your pre-ordered flowers, prior to entering the auditorium. You will give your last name, and they will have your flowers ready for pick up. There will be a limited number of programs and T-Shirts for sale at the venue. This will be on sale for cash payments only.

Recital – Dismissal Protocol (June 10th & 11th):

After the final routine of each recital, all classes will take their final bow. Once the bow in Recital #1 and #2 is complete, the curtains will close and dancers will be set up on stage for parents to pick up their children from the stage. This will be rehearsed at Dress Rehearsal and parents will see this process then. Once you have retrieved your child from the stage you will take them exactly how you dropped them off to gather their belongings and exit from the recital. Dancers in Recital #3 and our TDAC Dancers will be dismissed from the dressing room area to find their families before exiting from the recital.

Studio 104 Support a Local Business & Former TDA

Dancer:

Studio 104 on Main is Rolesville’s newest boutique fitness studio opening May 18th. Owner Lauren Mobley grew up dancing at The Dance Attic, starting at age 5 and continued dancing while at UNC-CH on a student-led team. After graduating, she received her barre fitness certification. Now she’s opening Studio 104 in the same space that TDA originated before moving to its current location – talk about a full circle! Follow Studio 104 on Instagram and Facebook @studio104onmain and take a class when they open in May! Plus, your first class is FREE! Let’s all support one of our former dancers as she takes on her next step in life, right where TDA all started!

Acro Announcements:

Effective May 1st, we will be discontinuing the Acro Program at TDA for the remainder of the season. You will see in your May statements that any of those enrolled in Acro are not being charged for the month of May. With that being said, we will be reconstructing how we operate Acro in the upcoming season. Acro will not be listed on your weekly schedules for the new season; however, we will share with you that there will be Acro opportunities in the new season, that we as a staff are PUMPED about! More information to come!

May Challenge:

For Intern Diara Carters May Newsletter Challenge, TDA wants our dancers and families to choose one of their dances from this year and teach your family at least an 8 count of your choreography! Time to get the whole family involved as we start on our last month of regular dance for the 22-23 dance season! Once you’ve taught your family, be sure to take a video and post it under the May Challenge Post in the comments. Our winner will receive some $$$ towards your summer dancing!

April Backstage Highlight:

Hey TDA! My name is Ellie Schmidt and I’m in 10th grade and I’ve been dancing at The Dance Attic for 7 years. I started company this year and I’ve really enjoyed it. For this month’s Backstage Spotlight, I’m going to be talking about how joining company has been on of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. After seeing last year’s production and seeing some of the social media posts of TDAC at Disney and other various competitions, I started seriously considering joining company. I went through the whole audition process which got a little stressful at times with the deadlines and all the forms to fill out, but went to the audition and MADE IT! I didn’t believe people when they told me joining TDAC is a huge commitment, but it really is. And I’m so glad I did it. In my experience, it has made me more passionate and has grown my love for dance. My friendships have deepened and I’m so grateful for all the amazing experiences I’ve been given. I want to wish everyone good luck who is auditioning for the first time, and all of our TDAC dancers still competing this season!

TDA Milestone Achievements:

TDA would like to start a new acknowledgement program for dancers to show how proud we are of the commitment they have to their craft. To help get us started, please complete this form below. We want to celebrate all of the hard work dancers put in year to year and plan to acknowledge dancers as they reach different milestone achievements here at TDA. Your Achievements will be recognized on stage this year, so please be sure to complete this form by JUNE 1st!

Important Info and Reminders:

• The year is coming to an end and it’s time to start tying up those loose ends. The May 1st payment is your final payment of the year. Please check your records and make sure that you are up to date on all payments. Please pay all money owed with the May tuition payment, which is due by May 7th (without penalty fees). Any dancer whose account is not paid in full will not be allowed to dance in the recital.

• Please check the lost and found in the dressing room for anything that you may be missing (or anything you didn’t know that you were missing!) All items in the lost and found will be donated to Goodwill on June 1st.

• Even though the year is coming to an end, we still expect our dancers to come to class with the correct dance clothes and shoes for that class. Remember that there is always a little dancer looking up to you so it is important to set a good example and always dress appropriately.

• If you are interested in auditioning for TDAC at this point, you will have to email info@thedanceattic.com to see if there is space available in the audition.

• TDAC will be competing at Showstopper in Myrtle Beach Mothers Day Weekend! Wish them luck!

• TDAC 22-23 Auditions will be held May 22ndth. Those of you who have signed the TDAC Contract should have received information for this audition.

• TDA will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th. Have a safe holiday.
