MY SAVIOR Camilla Toledo I think that if it weren’t for you, I too would’ve ended up eaten, by my fears. I too would’ve stayed hidden behind the pile of rocks that hid me from that shadow. The shadow that lurked behind me. In every move, every step, every action. The shadow that I worried would hurt me if I didn’t run away. And your presence became visible. Like the moon that cut through darkness, to luminate the world. You came into my life and let me know that I was going to be okay. You lead the way towards our destination, letting me stand behind you and peek out from behind your back, to be sure there was nothing I needed to fear. And I soon started to realize that when you were beside me, the shadow wouldn’t appear. Occasionally, I would feel what I once felt when it was near. My fingers became liquid, the pain in my head roared louder, as if all the radios in the world became one. But I knew I was not alone as I once was, and I was not afraid, because it was your voice that rescued me, that extended its arms and caught me before I fell into the hands of my darkness. I called you My Savior, the one that protected me even though I was not your own, even though I was considered different from the rest.
