What I See While I Sleep Ella Jang ‘23

WHAT I SEE WHILE I SLEEP

Ella Jang

My mom used to tell me What I see while I sleep Is the opposite of my reality.

Short hours of dreams Sometimes 6 and sometimes 7 e time I can hide from harsh reality

No pains exist Broken leg grows back Headache disappears without a pill Anxiety melts away like snow

e hardest time Replaced with the greatest memory A dead friend smiles at me We hug as if nothing ever happened

My dad used to tell me What I see while I sleep Is the re ection of my wishes

Short hours of dreams Sometimes 6 and sometimes 7 e time I can do whatever I want

Anything is allowed I become a bird Flying through the sky Without obstacles

Everyone who I care for Stands by my side No matter where we live We are all together at that moment

When I wake up from the dream, Emptiness winds around So empty at even the disquiet fades away

Now I speak to myself What I see while I sleep Is a gift for me To endure another day
