DREAM
Seowon (Emily) Hong Staring at a starry night through a window, I can’t count the stars one to ten, but I can capture their splendor, their reflection in my eyes, soon to shut. But my mind opens, imagines, runs ‘round the pond laughing, I catch my mind, my breath, relax and shake my body gently. I feel my feet on the soft grass, the blanket beneath me. And a white antique door opens, illuminates iridescence, seizes my attention, my imagination. Like Tinker Bell in Peter Pan, I whiz around the pond, embroider the night, brighten and blind it with pixie dust and fireflies. Then it comes to a climax, crashes, the timing clear. An alarm cries like a hungry baby. It all screeches to a halt, vanishes, leaves only regrets and memories, a void, but a desire to once again return.
