A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT WARREN SIBLEY I believe I can stand with most of the membership, as I say “good bye” to 2020. While the year was certainly one we don’t want to re-live, there were some positives. The Club has never been more popular, we are about to begin a robust remodel, and we can hopefully see the light at the end of the Covid-19 “tunnel”. We ask that everyone stay diligent as you follow Covid protocols. Our membership and employees depend on our mask wearing and abiding by the CDC guidelines. So, thank you for your continued compliance. Very soon you will see placards in our entry way showing our plans for the upcoming remodel. We have grand plans for our dining room and the wet areas in our locker rooms. We can’t wait for the membership to enjoy our upgraded facilities. A special thank you to all of our members who made our toy drive for Mesquite Social Services so successful. There are too many families to count that need our support in this very tough year. The incredible run of weather has allowed for continued record play on our golf courses. Anecdotally, I’ve heard four main themes being discussed. Two positive and two “grumbles”. On the positive side, golfers are thrilled with our greens. Kevin and his golf staff have the greens as good as they’ve been in a long time. We just can’t say enough about their condition and playability. Second, talk has begun to surface regarding any future changes to the golf course and a forthcoming golf course “master plan”. We are at the nascent stage of any future plans for the golf course. We will

begin to work with our golf course architect, Chet Williams, on developing a new master plan. That is the first step. We take into consideration a myriad of factors: turf, green health, irrigation, trees, and hole layout, just to name a few considerations. As of now, we are still at the “back of the napkin” stage. As we start to formulate a new plan, we will make sure to let you know our thoughts. As our Covid reality continues and the weather remains beautiful, rounds are still at an all-time high. Out of that we have a few reminders. The two biggest are carts in the parking lot and honoring your tee times. If you use a cart simply return it to the proper place when finished. Every day we have carts left in the parking lot. Unfortunately, if this continues, we will have no choice but to restrict the cart usage of those who leave their carts in the parking lot. It is a time consuming and needless waste of resources to police this. So, please return your carts. Tee times are another topic of conversation. We ask golfers to cancel tee times as soon as it becomes apparent that it will not be used. Out of this there are two reminders for all of us: One, if you go to make a tee time and there is not one available, please call the shop. It is a rare case when a golfer cannot play. Two, one reason for a “missed” tee time is that often two groups on a tee sheet become one group when they get to the course. A two-some may meet up with two more and they join groups, etc. A member simply “no showing” a tee time is a rare concern, but one we will watch closely. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all a very, very Happy New Year.
