FFA activities to include former NFL player as keynote speaker BY KATE RECHTZIGEL Staff writer

In World Dairy Expo’s 53rd year, the event is providing tools for dairy’s progress, including educational opportunities for people of all ages. On opening day of the show, WDE welcomes nearly 4,000 FFA members to the Alliant Energy Center to take part in many activities tailored to youth interested in the dairy industry. “Members are introduced to several different facets of agriculture, especially those within the dairy industry,” Cassi Miller said. “Their time at WDE also provides them with the opportunity to network with other FFA chapters, Trade Show and Dairy Cattle Exhibitors and dairy producers from around the globe.” Miller, the WDE International/Youth Programs Specialist, helps to coordinate the many activities available to FFA members during their time at the show. In addition to the Central National FFA Contests on Oct. 1, FFA chapters in the local five state area, along with chapters

This year, Expo is excited to feature keynote speaker, former Green Bay Packers lineman and Hall of Famer, Mark Tauscher, at

Expo info in the palm of your hand New mobile app helps make attendees’ time more efficient BY KRISTA KUZMA Staff writer

This year, World Dairy Expo attendees will be able to get more information about the five-day event right in the palm of their hand. The launch of World Dairy Expo’s mobile app is the newest way to blend technology and the widely attended event. “It’s one way we hope to make attendees experience at World Dairy Expo a bit more customized and attendee-friendly,” said Laurie Breuch, dairy cattle show coordinator for World Dairy Expo. “We’re very excited.” The app, available since September 1st, can be downloaded onto a mobile device at any time. “We designed it so you don’t have to download the app every year. You just have to download the changed data,” said Kyle Davis with Envision IT, who wrote the software for the app. When logging in, users will provide basic information – their email, role in the industry, why they are attending Expo and their age range.
