The Role
Title: General Manager, Montenegro Duty Free
Reporting to: Chief Operations & Business Development Officer, ARI Location: Podgorica. Montenegro

The purpose of the General Manager role is to lead the business in delivering best in class results while fostering a culture of performance, motivation and inclusion. This will be achieved by performance managing the retail business and its resources, by delivering sales, financial growth & stability, by being customer driven, by embedding a culture of continuous performance improvement, and by fostering a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Developing and implementing corporate strategy in tandem with corporate goals.
• End to end management of the Retail Operation and Head Office Support Functions (including Finance, IT, HR, Purchasing & Logistics)
• Undertake company secretarial duties in the management of Board and Shareholder meetings
• Excel at shareholder and partner management, understanding the differing needs of all stakeholders.
• Ensuring adherence to all applicable retail and back-office business processes, procedures and standards
• Driving Sales and PAS (Passenger Average Spend)
• Delivering the budgeted financial performance and other targets as set in the budget, as set by the Board of Directors
• Setting KPI’s and reviewing performance against these for each business function and department
• Delivering excellence in operational standards leading to increased sales (Shift excellence, Rostering tools, real-time sales analysis)
• Implementation of best in class disciplines (catman/space planning/customer segmentation)
• Delivery of capex refit projects
• Developing meaningful customer insights to maximise Commercial returns
• Owning the Balanced Scorecard system regarding retail deliverables
• Identify and develop strategies to mitigate against risks and threats to the business
• Ensuring full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Negotiate with the airport sales and promotional initiatives to drive sales and profitability
• Negotiating with the airport to improve the overall financial position of the existing business
• Providing leadership, motivation and ongoing coaching within the business to cultivate a successful, agile and effective team
• Application of the ARI Leadership Standards and delivering on people objectives
• Motivating the team to drive customer satisfaction through the retail offering
• Creating a culture of continuous improvement
• Representing the business unit, cultivating and developing strong relationships with regulatory and government bodies
• Identifying and developing partnership opportunities

• Participating in industry activity as an individual business as well as in association with other operators and trade bodies
• Behaving as an ambassador for ARI
Key Experience & Background
• A senior professional with a graduate degree (or equivalent) and significant experience in relevant consumer focused retail roles
• Have a proven track record in the development and operation of retail operations (10+ years’ experience)
• Direct travel retail experience is preferred but is not essential
• Strong financial and commercial acumen
• Experience in buying/supply chain operations preferred
• Significant stakeholder management experience
