A LETTER FROM YOUR DNE Hello Unicorns! This is your Division News Editor, Shane Cho. I am so excited to begin a new year of journey with all of you and I hope that this year has lots of fun and new experiences waiting for all of you guys as we set our steps into the new school year. This upcoming fall will serve as the transition for all of the Unicorns as we get out of that “summer stage” of our bodies and modify our habits (including our sleep schedule) for the upcoming school year. It’s going to be hard for some of us, but we should all keep up the morale and think positively about all that we face. Good luck to all of us in our upcoming school year! For this Letter from the DNE, I just wanted to share some things that I feel like we can all learn from. We all have other responsibilities outside of Key Club, the Seniors have college applications to worry about, the Juniors and Sophomores have standardized tests and loads of AP Classes homework, and the Freshmen are busy adjusting to high school. However, I feel that we all should just take a deep breath, bring ourselves back together, and move on with what we must do. Despite all the challenges that we might all face, I believe that the Unicorns will be able to overcome those challenges and hold up to our standards of excellence! With this opportunity, I also wanted to recognize all the Key Club officers for their hard work. The new school year started and I can already see all the passion and the enthusiasm from the Unicorn officers to make this year another great one for all the Division 16N Unicorns! Thanks and kisses, and, always,

DNE Shane Cho

A LETTER FROM YOUR LTG Hello my lovely Unicorns! Summer break has officially ended and school has now started! I hope everyone is adjusting to their new schedules and able to wake up in time! Seniors, only one more year left and we are out! Keep pushing through and make sure you don't catch the contagio us senioritis that has been going around for decades there is no remedy for it). Juniors and Sophomores, this is going to be one of your toughest years, make sure you don't procrastinate and set your priorities. It's going to be a rollercoaster emotionally and mentally, but never forget that your health comes before anything else and that Division 16 North is always here for you. If you ever need to rant or someone to tallk to, don't be afraid to text me or even shoot me a message on Facebook. Don't stress out too much!!! Freshmen, welcome!!! I hope you're enjoying high school so far! Make the most out of this year. Join the clubs you want, the sports you always wanted to play in but were too afraid to join, and talk to anyone, especially upperclassmen, they are more than happy to give you advice on high school. There are going to be a lot of events coming up in September, October, and November, so keep your eyes open and attend the events!!

Good luck my Unicorns, and until next time.

Region 7 Beach Clean-Up

A Message from… Joyce Kim, D16N LTG about the “Region 7 Beach Clean Up” Region 7's Annual Beach Clean Up was a huge success!!! Not only were we able to clean up the beaches, getting rid of all the trash on the sand and the shores, but we were able to bond with our Ohana. Along with all the sunburns and lost items that day, we made even more memories that we will treasure throughout our high school career. Thank you to all of those that came out that day! I hope you had as much as fun as I did! -LTG Joyce Kim

Region 7’s Beach Clean-Up was a fun service event for all members of Key Club! Taking place on Saturday, August 6th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Dockweiler Beach, Los Angeles, attendees picked up trash and cleaned the beach side alongside guests from Heal the Bay. Members from Saugus Key Club were among the first to arrive, so they helped LTG Joyce Kim pick the perfect spot for the bonfire later in the day. Everyone then split up into groups of six people and started “ The whole Region 7 picking up the trash, which was roamed the beachplenty alongside es for Pokemon, en- the beautiful Pacific joyed the yummy coast. The groups also made a barbequed food, detailed list to recswam in the cold ord what types of trash were ocean, played fun most frequently games, and roasted spotted on the beach, in delicious s’mores!” order to help the beach place restrictions on the items that were constantly found loitered on the beach and in the sand. After spending a good amount of time cleaning up the beach, everyone was able to relax and hang out with the fellow Key Clubbers! The whole Region 7 roamed the beaches for Pokemon, enjoyed the yummy barbequed food, swam in the cold ocean, played fun games, and roasted delicious s’mores! For only five dollars, this was a fun, enjoyable, and easy event to attend! -Paige Kauffman,

July DCM The monthly DCMS of Key Club are always a blast! As expected, the July DCM was full of laughter and excitement! The DCM this month started out with some fun, upbeat music and our LTG Joyce Kim. During this time, roll was taken, various goals of each schools were stated, and awards were given out to fellow Unicorns. Congrats to the BEEutiful members who earned them with their hard efforts! Soon after, we all played the water balloon toss game where members

were able to become closer to the Key Club members from different schools. Next up was the water fight; water balloons, guns, and even buckets of water soaked the members. Luckily, the hot sun dried us all up quickly, After taking a break and eating Otter Pops while hanging out with one another, it was time for the main event of the day, “Tie Dye to eliMiNaTe. Each member was provided with a shirt where they could freely make designs. For some people, it

was their first time making a tie dye shirt, but they were able to do it successfully thanks to the fellow Unicorns. In the end, shirts of all different colors and styles were made; some members used all the colors, while others only used a few. Either way, they all looked amazing! Most importantly, this DCM was a great chance to raise money for MNT with the tie dye shirts and bands. Hyewon Lee Valencia Key Club
