A LETTER FROM YOUR DNE Hello Unicorns! A hearty Unicorn shout-out to all the amazing Unicorns in Division 16N from your Division News Editor, Shane Cho! For the October issue of the Unicorn Herald, I will be covering the Club Days that many of our local school Key Clubs have participated in and other events they engaged in to promote Key Club within their schools. Thank you to all the officers that have put in countless hours of hard work and efforts in order to make this happen! You guys are all heroes behind the stage of Key Club Internalnational! In the final note, I wanted to encourage all the Seniors writing the college apps: the underclassmen are cheering for you! Thank you Unicorns, and, as always‌

A LETTER FROM YOUR LTG Hello my lovely Unicorns! FALL RALLY IS COMING UP VERY SOON!!!! I hope everyone is excited as I am! Keep fundraising for PTP and start preparing all of your spirit gear for that day! November 12th (save the date). Remember that the new year might be difficult and stressful and I am always here if you need help, advice, or just someone to talk to. There are going to be hectic times, especially with membership dues and fall rally coming up, but don’t forget that you have a group of people supporting you! I hope to see everyone at Region Training Conference and future club visitations!

Until then,

LTG Joyce Kim

Valencia’s First

Officer

Written By: Siddartha Sen Valencia Bulletin Editor

After a long summer, it was good to be back in action for Key Club. The first officer meeting is always the most special! With the year and its challenges looming in front of the officers they need to prepare early to not only meet all the requirements, but also to make sure this year would be the best year for Valencia High School Key Club. The officers started off by going over They all left the events over the summer, with promissuch as the Clean-Up. Region 7 Beach ing ideas for Then, they discussed for the the future. events planned this year, like the Fall Rally. After that, we planned on how to approach the new year. They spoke about using various social media to reach out to members and be more informative and communicative. After all the hard work, they bonded with each other with a game! Half of the members had to take a cookie and the other half had to take a brownie. The people with the same treat had to talk about their hobbies and interests and exchange partners. After this, they took a group picture and the meeting was adjourned in a happy note. They all left with promising ideas for the future.

Back To School NIGHT It was that time of the year again! Students ready to pick up a backpack, pack school belongings, and start another school year with hopes of not having too much homework, However, most, if not all, the parents of the students do not know how our very own classes progress daily. As a result, the annual Back to School Night for West Ranch High School took place on Tuesday, August 30th. Just a few of our very own West Ranch Key Clubbers were able to help

us out in this extremely BEE-sy event. Eleven key Club members came out to provide the myriads of parents at the event. Our volunteers also had a chance to give a few parents a rundown of what the Back to School Night Schedule was. Lastly, the volunteers helped pass out the schedules and programs of the Back to School Night to the parents in front of the gates of West Ranch. Overall, the members had to generously give up four hours for this event.

Co-Vice President attended the event and believed everything was a success. We continue to hope that more and more members will be able to come and support West Ranch Key Club by taking more volunteer opportunities.

Club Day Every year at the beginning of the school year, Saugus High School has a club day at lunch in the main quad area of the campus. Throughout the entire lunch, kids roam around looking, signing up for, and asking about the various clubs we offer at Saugus. Although not every club has a table, Key Club decided to have a table again this year. Numerous officers at the table promoted our club and answered the questions the students had. We passed out flyers

that showed why everyone should join! Many people signed up, and I believe that this day definitely increased the people that came to our first meeting. Marin Trunkey, Saugus Club’s President, was especially friendly and prompted many to come to our table and see what Key Club is really about! With us rocking our cool Saugus Key Club shirts, our table was a hit at the 2016 Club Day! I think that many Saugus students, especially the many new freshmen,

did not know about Key Club or that we even had it at Saugus. The fact that we advertised for and promoted Key Club by having a table really helped get the word out!
